Early big-time college football matchups are all the rage, and the Philadelphia Eagles will have representatives in Austin for one of the most talent-rich games on the early college football schedule.
Philadelphia is among 16 NFL organizations expected to have scouts present when No. 1 Ohio State visits No. 4 Texas on Saturday night at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Eagles will join the Cowboys, Seahawks, 49ers, Broncos, Colts, Patriots, Panthers, Lions, Chargers, Texans, Ravens, Rams, Dolphins, Jets and Browns in evaluating two rosters loaded with potential NFL talent.
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is expected to become one of the most coveted prospects in the 2027 draft. His matchup against Texas' secondary will give evaluators another opportunity to study his releases, route running, and ability to produce against top competition.

His weekend travel itinerary, however, hardly seemed the stuff of dreams.
After calling Friday's second U.S. Open semifinal, he was on a private flight that landed in Austin around 3 a.m. Saturday. Following a scant amount of sleep, there was a late-morning production meeting before calling Saturday night's matchup between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 4 Texas on ABC, arguably the top non-conference matchup in college football this season.
Once Saturday's game ends, it's back on a plane to New York for Sunday's 1 p.m. CT men's final on ABC between Alexander Zverez and Blake Shelton, with the latter trying to become the first American man to win a major since Andy Roddick at the 2003 U.S, Open.
"They are my two favorite sports and I get to call the championship events in them," Fowler told the Houston Chronicle on Saturday afternoon during a brief respite in Austin. "So that's a dream job. I live in the dream I had since I'm 10 years old."

Curtis entered after Blaze Berlowitz ran the Commodores' first two drives. On those drives, both of which ended in punts, Berlowitz was 0-for-4 passing and did not have a carry. The score was tied, 0-0, with 4:44 remaining in the first quarter.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz joined the set of ESPN's "College GameDay" on Saturday morning in Austin to push landmark legislation to regulate college sports ahead of the Texas Longhorns' highly anticipated matchup with the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
He did not receive a warm welcome.
Cruz, clad in a burnt orange blazer, was consistently booed by the raucous crowd of Longhorns faithful throughout his nine-minute interview, with fans breaking into chants of "Ted, you suck" and "Get him off."

Week 3 of the 2026 Central Texas high school football season wasn't a great one for the American-Statesman's top area Class 6A teams: No. 1 Lake Travis, playing only its second game after the Cavaliers canceled their season opener, saw its road game against Cibolo Steele end in a 28-28 tie after lightning forced the game to be called in the third quarter. No. 2 Westlake suffered its first loss at Prosper. And No. 3 Dripping Springs lost at Round Rock.
For the second time in three weeks, weather played a factor in Friday night's games. Weather caused delay issues at a handful of matchups, including Lake Travis-Cibolo Steele in Schertz, Wimberley at New Braunfels Long Creek, Lehman at Lockhart and even Giddings at Smithville. Sky Sports' Ted Kravitz gave a rare sneak inside the F1 drivers' briefing room in Madrid for the Spanish GP, as FIA lists changes to Madring circuit after the meet.
Like the earlier years of F1, footage from drivers' briefing was back online in 2017 season when Formula One Management allowed snippet to be posted on its Youtube channel with the late Charlie Whiting as the FIA race director. It was done for few rounds, starting in Monaco.
After its success, the footage was broadcasted in races like Malaysia, ****** an, Austin and Mexico. But it was discontinued from 2018 onward due to breach of sanctity of discussions that the F1 drivers think should be private between them and the FIA, its race director.
They wanted to speak with an open mind in the form and not let it out in public to create fan wars and unwarranted interpretations. Since then, no footage has been made available, although the discussions that takes place often gets around in the media, especially if there are some long discussions.
Even photographs are rare in current times, but Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz gave a rare sneak into the F1 drivers' briefing room in Madrid for the Spanish GP, during his Friday ****** ysis show. The few seconds captured old teammates seated together interacting with each other.

On Friday afternoon, the Browns ruled out guard Teven Jenkins (back) and listed center Parker Brailsford (thumb) as questionable.
Jenkins made four starts last year in his first season with Cleveland and was slated to start at right guard in 2026. Expected to start in Jenkins' place is rookie Austin Barber -- a third-round pick by the Browns.
Andrew Harbaugh of Browns Wire recently provided some insight into what Barber can bring to the Browns' offensive line unit:

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas is hosting three powerhouses this weekend on the Forty Acres: No. 1 Ohio State, ESPN College GameDay, and CELSIUS Energy Drinks.
On Friday afternoon, the Traveling CELSIUS Combine and the CELSIUS-led Run Clubs touched down on the South Mall by the UT Tower.
The CELSIUS Combine included a "racing the reaction wall" coordination test, a pull-up challenge, a vertical jump challenge, and a passing accuracy challenge. The run club group took off for a 5K run in downtown Austin.
After the two events, a Woodstock-esque EDM concert unfolded in the rain featuring DJ duo SIDEQUEST. Love Island Season 8 star and event special guest Caleb McDaniel had crowds begging him for selfies and chasing him all over campus.

Friday night's highly anticipated out-of-district contest between Steele and Austin Lake Travis at Lehnhoff Stadium was canceled in the third quarter due to weather. The two teams were tied at 28-28 with 04:42 remaining in the third quarter when the game entered a lightning delay.
The lightning delay began around 9 p.m. and the game was officially called around 40 minutes later due to the inclement weather. UIL guidelines say that activities must be suspended when lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius of the event venue. Activities may not resume until lightning is no longer within the 10-mile radius and 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike.
The 28-28 score will likely be counted as a tie toward Steele and Lake Travis' records, but it will not have playoff implications since it is from an out-of-district contest. Per UIL rules, any out-of-district varsity football games that have gone past halftime are considered to be official contests.
"If both teams have made a good faith effort to complete the game and have not been able to finish the game or mutually agree to end the game at the point of suspension, the game shall be declared final with the score at the time of suspension," the UIL website reads.
While suspended games could be restarted at a later time, the UIL does not allow games to be played past Saturday. Lake Travis is also roughly 70 miles away from San Antonio. Steele head coach David Saenz estimated that the game could have resumed around 11 p.m., around two hours after the contest was paused.

Lake Travis' matchup against Cibolo Steele ended in an abrupt 28-28 tie Friday when inclement weather swept through the area. Lightning was spotted within 10 miles of Lehnhoff Stadium with 4 minutes and 43 seconds left in the third quarter, leading to the initial weather delay.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Austin Simmons threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, Robert Woodyard Jr. produced back-to-back second-half turnovers to help Missouri take control, and the No. 23 Tigers beat Kansas 38-21 on Friday night in the latest edition of the Border War.
Jamal Roberts ran for 125 yards and a touchdown, and Donovan Olugbode and Cayden Lee caught TD passes, helping the Tigers (2-0) beat their biggest rival for the fifth straight time in their first trip across the state line since Oct. 29, 2005.
It was tied 14-all early in the second half when Woodyard fell on Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall's fumble, and Simmons quickly found Olugbode for the go-ahead touchdown. On the Jayhawks' next offensive play, Woodyard faded into the secondary and was there to pick off Marshall's pass, setting up Xai'Shaun Edwards' touchdown run.
Marshall finished with 168 yards passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Jayhawks (1-1), who haven't beaten Missouri since Nov. 29, 2008. The sophomore quarterback also carried 20 times for just 23 yards.
Kansas jumped on the Tigers early, just as it did last season in Columbia, when a series that went on hiatus after the Tigers' departure for the SEC finally resumed after more than a decade. Aaron Nola gave up homers to Matt Olson in the first and Austin Riley in the seventh. Braves left-hander Chris Sale allowed three runs on only three hits in seven innings but struggled with two outs in the second. Edmundo Sosa singled before Sale walked Bryan De La Cruz and hit J.T. Realmuto with a pitch to load the bases. Derek Hill doubled off the center-field wall to drive in three runs.

What is expected to be a strong Kernersville Middle School baseball team opened its season Tuesday afternoon with a 20-1 rout of Northwest Middle School at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex. The game was called on the 10-run rule after three innings.
At the plate, Colton McClendon led the team with four runs on two hits. He drove in the first two runs with a homer to left field in the first inning.

KMS added 10 runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored two runs, Colton singled to drove in a run. Kamden doubled, driving in scoring three runs. Jacob King followed with a two-run double. A double by Jayden Rangel scored two runs and Brantley Lawson was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded to drove in the last run of the inning.

With the first game of the Cleveland Browns season just a couple of days away, they made it official on Friday that rookie offensive lineman Austin Barber would be the team's starter at right guard on Sunday when they open the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Veteran offensive lineman Teven Jenkins was slated to be the team's starting right guard this season, but an injury will hold him out of at least this week's game. Barber didn't play guard at Florida, so it's a new position for him after logging 2,087 snaps at left tackle and 490 snaps at right tackle during his time with the Gators.
Barber was a surprising pick at 86 overall for the Browns, but now they are asking him to start right away, and his experience will be something he needs to lean on, even at a new position on the offensive line. He brings a nasty temperament to the run game, looking to finish guys by blocking them into the dirt; maybe the Browns lucked their way into another Wyatt Teller-style player at the right guard position.

At UFC Fight Night 293, Austin Bashi and Lucas Brennan will look to regain momentum against one another in Las Vegas.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Bashi (14-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) entered the UFC with much hype but has encountered mixed results. He lost his debut to Christian Rodriguez, but bounced back with a win over John Yannis. In July, Bashi lost a hard-fought battle against Jose Delgado, who is now considered a contender at featherweight.
Brennan (11-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) gained notoriety for his nine-fight stint in Bellator during which he went undefeated. After a loss in PFL, Brennan departed the promotion and went to the regional scene. After a 2-1 run there, the UFC picked him up in April. He lost his debut to Francis Marshall by unanimous decision. Brennan is a second generation UFC fighter, being the son of promotional alumnus Chris Brennan.

The lineups are out for tonight's series-opening showdown between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies. There's no major shakeup but there is a return to the lineup for one familiar face after he started Thursday's contest on the bench.
Ozzie Albies is back in the starting lineup for the Braves. Here's how the rest of Atlanta's lineup is looking:

Ozzie has hit .249/.304/.411 so far this season with a wOBA of .311 and a wRC+ of 95. His big triple against the Rays on Thursday helped push Atlanta past Tampa Bay and gave them what could amount to being a very crucial win if all continues to go well for the Braves as far as this particular series is concerned.
Outside of that, there are no major changes from yesterday and in fact, this is the same group of nine batters that squared off against Aaron Nola last week. The bottom of the order is slightly different but the players remain the same. For what it's worth, Ronald Acuña Jr. has an OPS of 1.076 against Nola in 56 pat-bats. Austin Riley has done a similar level of damage as well with an OPS of 1.111 over 62 ABs. Mike Yastrzemski and Drake Baldwin have both been successful as well (1.046 and 1.056 OPS, respectively) against Nola but they both have much smaller sample sizes (16 and 8 ABs, respectively) to go with. Let's see if that turns into a factor during tonight's contest.

So, throughout the season, members of our staff will be making predictions about that day's game. Tomorrow, the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes will actually get to play a marquee primetime game as they travel to Austin to take on the No. 4 Texas Longhorns. The two teams will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on ABC. The matchup is easily the biggest game of the non-conference slate this season, and could potentially prove to be the most consequential matchup of the regular season.
It will be the third time that the Bucks and Horns have played in as many seasons, with OSU winning in the College Football Playoff in 2024 and then in the subsequent season's opener. There is a ton on the line for both teams, as each wants to stake its claim to the pole position in the race for the national **** le.
Texas, playing at home, is currently a 1.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel. The book projects the total points line at 49.5. If you think you are better at prognosticating than our experts, maybe go and put your money where your mouth is.
