Constance Zimmer spent part of 2026 promoting one of the most acclaimed roles of her career while privately undergoing treatment after a breast cancer diagnosis.
The 55-year-old UnREAL actress revealed on October 4 that she learned on March 13 that she had ductal carcinoma in situ, or DCIS. Zimmer said she received the news during a Zoom appointment while she was away from home and immediately began thinking about how to tell her husband, Russ Lamoureux, and their daughter, Colette.
"The silence was deafening," Zimmer wrote in her Instagram announcement. What followed, she said, was an overwhelming stretch of medical consultations that eventually led to three surgeries in three consecutive weeks and radiation treatment.
Much of that happened while Zimmer was appearing publicly for FX's Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, a performance that later earned her an Emmy nomination. Seven months after the diagnosis, Zimmer says she is cancer-free.
Zimmer described the period after her diagnosis as mentally exhausting as she sought opinions from several doctors about how to treat the DCIS.

Constance Zimmer underwent three surgeries for breast cancer earlier this year.
Returning to Instagram to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Sunday, the Entourage actress revealed that she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), or Stage 0 breast cancer, in March. Detected early, DCIS is when abnormal cells are contained inside the milk ducts and have not spread to surrounding tissue.
"The mental toll that followed was overwhelming on certain days as I began talking to many more doctors then I would've liked (sic)," she recalled. "Feeling like my options were limited and most suggested what was the quickest way to get this mass out ASAP, which was a mastectomy."
But after meeting Dr. Kristi Funk, Zimmer opted for a lumpectomy.
"She was the first doctor to make me feel like what I wanted mattered and that made me weep with joy," the 55-year-old continued. "It did take three surgeries - three weeks in a row, but she did it, she saved my breast and it looks good too!"
And while she was recovering from the operations, Zimmer was on the press tour for the FX show Love Story, in which she played Ann Messina Freeman, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's mother.

Saturday Night Live alum Cheri Oteri just revealed that she underwent surgery for breast cancer — and she had a surprising supporter along the way.
On the June 10 episode of Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast, Oteri, 63, opened up about Dr. Jill Biden, 75, helping her after the former was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).
The Scary Movie star explained that she and the former second lady recently met at the Milken Institute dinner.
"I'm sitting there, quiet, and I'm like, this is so serendipitous," she told Handler, 51. "And I'm listening to all these women, and then at the end, Jill came up to me. And we were saying goodbye, and I told her that I was just diagnosed, and she said, 'When is your surgery?' And I said, 'The 26th.'"
