Decathlon and Céraclès Coopérative, formerly Groupe Sport 2000 France, have signed a letter of intent for Decathlon to acquire a 50% holding in SAS Sport 2000 France.
According to a translated version of the press statement, the proposed deal is confined to French operations.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the proposed arrangement, the two retailers are exploring how to leverage the complementarity of their store networks, product ranges, and specialist expertise to provide a service centred on advice and local relevance.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Céraclès Coopérative said: "This approach is based on a simple but very strong conviction: our two ecosystems have complementarities that can contribute to better serving athletes, all levels combined, and to strengthening proximity with customers, clubs and territories."

The Utah Talons won their second straight Athletes Unlimited Softball League ***** le in late July.
Never heard of the Talons? Didn't know the state had a professional softball team?
Sports Business Journal noticed. The Talons are one of the reasons that Salt Lake City rocketed up the publication's 2026 list of Best Sports Business Cities, going from 44th in its 2023 ranking to 12th this year.
Perhaps the biggest reason Utah's capital made such a big jump is the arrival of the Utah Mammoth in 2024. The NHL club quickly established itself as a mainstay alongside the Utah Jazz.
Also in less than three years, the state added the pro women's volleyball team LOVB Salt Lake and the U.S. Biathlon ***** ociation relocated from Maine to the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway.

Chicago's lakefront was filled with young competitors Saturday morning as athletes of all ages gathered for Supertri Chicago weekend, beginning with the 2026 Supertri Chicago Kids Triathlon at Foster Beach.
The race got underway with a countdown of "three, two, one," followed by the sounding of horns as participants entered the competition.
Some of the city's youngest athletes took on the waters of Lake Michigan and then transitioned to cycling and running in the triathlon challenge. Among them was 12-year-old Brooke Casey, a veteran participant who said the event remains a highlight.
"It's just fun. And I like when I see other people doing it like I see like little kids doing it and it's really fun," Casey said.
For Casey and her brother Kyle, the event has become a family tradition. Their father, Brendan Casey, said the family's involvement spans more than a decade.

WNBA players are fined $500 for each of their first three technical fouls. The penalty increases to $1,000 for technicals four through seven. An eighth technical results in a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension, with another suspension following every second technical after that threshold. That means Bueckers could receive a $500 fine following the Clark sequence.

The Valor Games Midwest kicked off in Chicago, bringing veterans together for three days of adaptive sports, competition and camaraderie.
The 14th annual games give veterans an opportunity to support one another while testing themselves in a variety of events. The games emphasize inclusion, with events designed for veterans with disabilities.
"Tons of veterans come out from all over the country, and this is the time they get to see their friends. So we're always excited for that," said Ricardo Lara of the Chicago Park District.
Among the competitors was Janice Copeland, a veteran of Operation Desert Storm who traveled from Atlanta for the games. Copeland competed in the biathlon and won a medal. She said the support of fellow veterans was a meaningful part of the experience.
"For me, just completing the task was enough and just to hear other veterans telling you, 'you got it. You can do it.' It really boosts my spirit," Copeland said.

Ryan Silverfield is taking over a daunting rebuilding job as he begins his first season at the helm of the Arkansas Razorbacks. But the roster he inherited isn't totally bereft of talent.
There may be no sturdier building block on the team than Edge rusher Quincy Rhodes. Rhodes broke out as a junior in 2025, finishing with 44 total tackles and a team-leading 15.5 tackles for loss in addition to 8 sacks, 6 quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble. That TFL total was the most by an Arkansas defender since Trey Flowers had 15.5 in 2015, and he also became the first 'Hawg to register double digit tackles for loss in a season since Landon Jackson in 2023. Nationally, he ranked 13th in tackles for loss per game and 23rd in sacks per game during the regular season.
Heading into 2026 Rhodes earned second team All-SEC honors from both league coaches and the **** ociated Press and was also tabbed with second team recognition from Athlon Sports and third team from Phil Steele. He stands out as one of the few proven players remaining in Fayetteville after a mass roster exodus following the coaching change, meaning the entire Arkansas defensive identity in 2026 will likely run through him.
For Georgia, Rhodes presents a real problem up front. At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, he has the length to disrupt passing lanes and the first step to win one-on-one against tackles who aren't ready for his quickness. A player who forces 15+ tackles for loss in a season has a demonstrated ability to blow up run designs before they develop, and Georgia's offensive line will need a plan specifically built around neutralizing him rather than treating him as a standard edge rusher. Early season road trips can be unpredictable, and Rhodes gives Arkansas a legitimate chance to affect the September 19th matchup with the Bulldogs from the opening series.

MURFREESBORO – The confidence around MTSU football this preseason feels real. Which is baffling, given the state of things only two seasons into former Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason's tenure.
His Blue Raiders were bad in 2024, and they weren't better in 2025. Back-to-back records of 3-9 have set this up to be do-or-die third season for Mason, and standing here on the precipice, the outlook could be better. Athlon picked MTSU to finish ninth (of 10 teams) in Conference USA. A vote last month of the league's media also ranked MTSU next to last.
"Listen, let's be honest: This thing started slow," Mason said to me this past summer, pausing to set up the inevitable "but" to follow.
"But I've got a quarterback. This young kid, Roman Gagliano, can play."
The counterpoint to the mountain of bad mojo from Mason's first two MTSU seasons is a 6-foot-3, 226-pound redshirt sophomore quarterback who, oddly enough, has been on the sideline for nearly all of it.

The 2026 Preseason All-American returns to the Vols for his final collegiate season after making an impact in his first campaign with Tennessee in 2025. A fifth-year player and veteran offensive lineman, Moe Jr. has started 38 games and played more than 2,400 snaps. The Arizona transfer has allowed two sacks in 40 appearances.

Triathlete Mohamed Lahna has competed in three Paralympics, winning a bronze medal for Morocco in 2016 and a silver medal for the United States in 2024. He's no stranger to extreme endurance events, either, having swum the Strait of Gibraltar and completed the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert.
But on July 29 in Los Angeles, Lahna crossed a finish line and into unprecedented territory when he completed a cross-country triathlon that he started on June 13 in New York.
The 44-year-old, who was born without a right femur, is believed to be the first athlete with a prosthesis to complete a triathlon across the United States.
Lahna traveled through 16 states and covered a total of 3,300 miles – equivalent to completing 206 Paralympic sprint triathlons or more than 23 Ironman triathlons. For 47 consecutive days, he rose at 4:30 a.m. and battled persistent pain, extreme weather and tough terrain.

The Oklahoma Sooners went 6-7 in 2022, the first year of the Brent Venables era. Then, OU went 10-3 in 2023. However, a regression in 2024 led to another 6-7 mark on the head coach's record. Then, the Sooners bounced back with another 10-3 season in 2025, making it to the College Football Playoff for the first time under Venables' watch.
As Oklahoma enters its third season in the SEC and its fifth season with Venables at the helm, the focus isn't just on avoiding regression again and breaking the pattern. The focus inside the Switzer Center is all about going from good to great in 2026.

The Crimson Tide fell seventh in the SEC in the Athlon preseason rankings. The magazine projected Alabama to finish 15th nationally.
The publication had Georgia No. 1 in the league, followed by Texas, with Oklahoma third. Texas A&M was fourth on the list, with LSU rounding out the top five and Ole Miss the other school ahead of the Crimson Tide, which sat one spot ahead of Tennessee.

As Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers look to reload their passing attack, all eyes are on marquee addition Mike Evans. While Shanahan's offense has long been hailed as one of the NFL's premier schemes, the turnover in last season's receiving corps left a distinct void on the perimeter.

"I like our team,'' he said during a Friday press conference at the American Conference football media days in St. Petersburg, Florida. "We've got some positions where certainly we have more experience than others. We've got a relatively inexperienced defense, but that's college football, and at Army we can't sign them to a new contract … we do have graduation. IRONMAN Jacksonville will return May 16, 2027, organizers announced, with general registration set to open Aug. 6.
The announcement, branded "Jump Into The Next Chapter," promotes an "evolving bike course."
The race marks the second edition of the triathlon, which made its debut in the River City in May 2026 and drew nearly 2,000 athletes from more than 39 countries for a course consisting of a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon.

The 23-year-old is set to make history in Glasgow as the first woman from Jersey to compete in a multi-event discipline in the heptathlon later this week.
She is part of a five-strong athletics team from Jersey which sees decathlete Evan Campbell joined by sprinters Zach Saunders, Steve MacKay and Jamie Oldham.
"I don't have any standout events, I always thought if I was good enough at something it might be an easier life to specialise," she tells BBC Jersey at the FB Fields athletics track where she first started multi-eventing aged 10.
"I just think the training is so diverse, every day is different. I like that you can have one bad event and then you can make up for it and it's the most interesting event if you ask me."
