A Super Bowl Sunday showdown at Villanova. A Friday night fight at Madison Square Garden with Rick Pitino and St. John's.
For all the talk about the UConn men's basketball team's historically difficult non-conference schedule, it's easy to forget that the Huskies' Big East slate will yield plenty of challenges as well. Thanks to improved spending by several teams, the league figures to be deeper and more talented than last season, when it earned just three NCAA Tournament bids for the second time in three years.
The Huskies' 2026-27 Big East schedule was released on Monday. Here's a breakdown, with times and venues still to be determined:

Howard Stern broke his silence months after a mass layoff of his radio show staff.
"I've never had a summer where I was treated so well in the press," Howard, 72, said sarcastically during his Monday, September 14, season premiere of Sirius XM's The Howard Stern Show, The U.S. Sun reported. "It was so positive. I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many different people have called me a scumbag."
As Globe previously reported, the shock jock has faced backlash for reducing his show to just one episode per week and making a lucrative deal to stream it on HBO Max — amid massive staff layoffs.
Some former employees also spoke out, claiming they were told not to speak to him at company parties, telling the U.S. Sun that "people have actually gotten fired for it."
"I'm the one who pays for the Christmas party, and then they throw a big party, and I don't let anybody look at me,"Howard sarcastically added on Monday.

To cap off Week 1 of the NFL season, on Monday evening, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Denver Broncos for a "Monday Night Football" bout at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC and ESPN.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Kansas City begins the week as a 2.5-point favorite.
The last time these two franchises faced off was Christmas Day at Arrowhead; Denver closed as a 13.5-point favorite against the Chiefs without quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City covered, but the Broncos pulled away from a tie game in the fourth quarter to win 20-13.
Of course, Denver's victory sealed the clean sweep of the Chiefs in 2025: in Week 11, the Chiefs were four-point favorites on the road against the Broncos, but lost 22-19.
In the 2026 preseason, the Chiefs were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks. The Broncos beat the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings, but lost to the Green Bay Packers.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stepped out for a date night in New York City amid speculation about how his NFL season could affect their marriage. This date night comes over two months after the couple tied the knot on July 3 at iconic Madison Square Garden in the city. Interestingly, this romantic outing also comes at a time when reports have hinted that Kelce's new innings with the Chiefs will put his marriage to Swift to a test.
It seems like Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have put all rumors to rest by spending a romantic date night outing in NYC. Page Six shared exclusive photos of Swift and Kelce in stylish outfits as they dined at the Indian restaurant Ambassadors Clubhouse. Notably, it is a hotspot located in the NoMad district on Sunday night.
In the photos, the Chiefs tight end puts a protective hand on his wife's waist as they walk into the restaurant from their SUV. The "Opalite" crooner modelled a metallic graphite brown halter dress by Stella McCartney. As per the outlet, she paired it with a red-brown purse and matching metallic heels that added an extra dose of oomph to the look.
She also reportedly opted for the Elizabeth Taylor opal ring and bracelet set, which her now-husband gifted her last Christmas. Swift's wispy bangs framed her face as she paired it with her signature red lipstick look for the romantic night out.
Kelce opted for a white silk striped shirt with brown trousers and checkered shoes. He completed the look with stylish aviators and a watch. It seems like Swift and Kelce have taken it upon themselves to ****** ure their fans and well-wishers that there is nothing to worry about.

From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, Rice-Eccles Stadium is a cacophony of noise.
Some 51,444 fans are at full throat when the Utes score a touchdown or when the opposing defense is on the field. During the breaks in the three-plus-hour event, there's still noise at all times, from the marching band to music blasting from the speakers to the in-game presenter hyping fans up or announcing the contest.
There is one moment, aside from when the Utes are on offense, when Rice-Eccles Stadium falls relatively silent — during the break following the end of the third quarter.
For six consecutive years, the "Moment of Loudness" has become a closely-held tradition at Utah, one born out of tragedy.
In the span of just nine months, two University of Utah football players died. Ty Jordan, a freshman running back, died from an accidental shooting on Christmas night in 2020. Nine months later, sophomore cornerback Aaron Lowe, who was friends with Jordan and changed his number to Jordan's No. 22 for the upcoming season, was shot and killed at a party in September 2021.

The Kansas City Chiefs kick off the 2026 NFL season against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. For Chiefs star Travis Kelce, this could be the final home opener of his career.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has not confirmed if quarterback Patrick Mahomes will start against the Broncos, as he's powering back from a torn ACL and MCL suffered in December.
However, all signs point toward Kelce taking the field with his best friend on Monday Night Football. Kelce gushed over Mahomes' rehab on the new season premiere of his "New Heights' podcast last week.

Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber cuddled up in the PDA-filled debut issue of WYouth, a print publication aimed at the next generation of teens, and shared the films, songs and novels that they return to.
The images, taken by the Biebers on a Contax point-and-shoot camera, feature the couple mid-makeout, a shirtless Justin Bieber sleeping under the sheets and a close-up of the two canoodling in bed.
The Rhode beauty founder revealed Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" as her go-to karaoke song, with Justin Bieber name-dropping "With You" by Chris Brown. Fans will remember the "Baby" singer's rendition of the R&B song from a 2008 YouTube video, which has garnered more than 65 million views.
The couple also detailed their favorite films and books. The "Everything Hallelujah" singer picked "The Grinch" and the Bible, whereas Hailey Bieber named the Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn-led rom-com "The Break-Up" and the children's book series "Angelina Ballerina," which she loved growing up, as her favorites.
Hailey and Justin Bieber also described their favorite ways to relax (the spa), favorite cities (a split between New York and Los Angeles) and favorite holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). They both agreed that picking an all-time favorite artist was simply "too hard."

The world lost a national treasure when Dolly Parton passed away on August 25 at the age of 80, but if there's one silver lining we can take away from her death, it's been all the wonderful stories that have been retold about her over the past couple of weeks. As celebrities paid tribute to the country music legend, many of them regaled fans with stories about working with Parton or the best advice she ever gave. Danica McKellar crossed paths with her for a Hallmark movie, and it sounds like she had quite the work ethic.
Like most of Dolly Parton's fans, I know her reputation for hard work — it's really no surprise when you consider her blue-collar background and the meaning behind her song "9 to 5" — but Danica McKellar got to witness that work ethic first-hand when she co-starred with Parton in Christmas at Dollywood in 2019. McKellar said the country music star was "everything that you hope she could possibly be and much more." She told Fox News:
She told me she only slept three to five hours a night. She was always dreaming stuff up and just busy. She'd sleep on her big travel bus if she was traveling and doing things and wake up early in the morning. ... She did her own hair and makeup, her own wig and her own makeup. And she'd get to work.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's divorce included reports of inappropriate flirting, growing jealousy and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15, picking sides. Nine months after finalizing their split, however, a source says the exes have become cordial.
"Things have gotten so much better," the source confirms to the National Enquirer. "They're actually speaking again — and he's now suggesting that they should do Christmas as a family in Australia."
As Enquirer previously revealed, the Practical Magic 2 actress, 59, spent the 2025 holiday season in Australia with the pair's girls following her September divorce filing. She'd cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason her 19-year marriage to the country singer, 58, ended.
"It was the first time they didn't celebrate Christmas as a family," reveals the source. "For obvious reasons, the last person Nicole wanted to see was Keith."

The Princess of Wales is always perfectly poised at royal events, the epitome of grace and composure.
But there was a time when her composure momentarily slipped at a charity event - and resulted in one of our favourite videos of the future queen.
The event took place back in December 2014, when Kate was still the **** ss of Cambridge. She and Prince William travelled for a three-day official visit to the United States, centered primarily in New York City.
One of her engagements saw Kate visit the Northside Center for Child Development where she joined a group of women to help wrap Christmas presents for underprivileged children.
The royal was warmly greeted upon her arrival and, after taking her seat in front at the wrapping station, turned to chat to some of the other ladies in the room.

Saturday evening brought big news: Vikings legend Harrison Smith, who never officially announced his retirement, is coming back for a 15th season with the franchise that drafted him in the first round back in 2012.
The fan reaction to that news has been almost entirely positive. Smith is an all-time great who has played at a high level across several different eras of Vikings football. About a month into this season, he'll pass Carl Eller and Fred ****** to move into third on the franchise's games played leaderboard, trailing only Jim Marshall and Mick Tingelhoff. He's an obvious Ring of Honor lock with a real chance to end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
And Smith's return isn't just about legacy. With his experience and instincts and communication abilities in Brian Flores' check-heavy defense, Smith is a big addition to the Vikings' roster right now, even at 37 years old. He can clearly still play, as we saw in his dominant performance against the Lions last Christmas Day.
Amidst the excitement, there have been a few Vikings fans who have pushed back. Their specific complaints have to do with the contract the team gave Smith for his 15th season. It's a one-year, $12.25 million deal that has incentives up to $16.25 million if Minnesota wins the Super Bowl. For some, that price tag is too steep for a 37-year-old safety.
There were enough of those tweets that a former longtime teammate of Smith's took notice. Anthony Barr, a first-round pick two years after Smith who played alongside him for nine seasons, took to X/Twitter to put those fans on blast late on Saturday night after a couple posts about his UCLA Bruins' Week 1 win over Cal.

Lance Bass and Danielle Fishel recreated their 1999 prom photo, with Fishel wearing her original dress after alterations
Bass reflected on attending prom as a closeted teenager and how the iconic photo has become a joyful memory
A script based on their prom night and friendship has been written by comedians Mary Holland and Lauren Lapkus
Earlier this year, Lance Bass and Danielle Fishel threw it back to 1999 to recreate their iconic prom photo — dress and all.
The longtime friends teamed up again as Co-Chief Cheer Officers for QVC's 39th annual Christmas in July celebration, and they opened up to PEOPLE about recreating their prom photo on the set of Fishel's American Idol Official Podcast in April. Fishel even slipped back into her original prom dress, although it did need a few alterations.

US stock futures were mixed after three days of declines as investors took stock of tensions in the Middle East and earnings from tech companies like Broadcom (AVGO) and Snowflake (SNOW).
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F) rose 0.2%, while those on the S&P 500 (ES=F) were little changed. Contracts for the Nasdaq-100 (NQ=F) edged below the flat line after stocks snapped their losing streak.
Stocks regrouped as oil prices edged lower, though Brent (BZ=F) crude oil futures remained above $95 per barrel. On Wednesday, President Trump said the US carried out a "very heavy attack" against Iran but also stated that the attack wouldn't take "too long."
While the reinflamed war in the Middle East has kept the spotlight on inflation, more attention is turning to the labor market, as a lineup of economic data releases sets the stage for Friday's jobs report.
On Thursday morning, outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported a slower pace of layoff announcements in August in the latest sign of a "low hire, low fire" labor market. That data will be coupled with Bureau of Labor Statistics figures on how many Americans filed unemployment benefit applications last week.

It's never too early to look ahead at uniform schedules, right?
Last month, the Denver Broncos announced they will wear their alternate navy jerseys when they host the Buffalo Bills at Empower Field at Mile High on Christmas Day in Week 16. That rematch of last season's AFC divisional round playoff game will begin at 2:30 p.m. MT on Netflix.
A few weeks after the Broncos announced their uniform for the Dec. 25 showdown with Buffalo, the Bills announced they will wear their beloved alternate red helmet with white jerseys, light pants and red socks. A fitting look for Christmas Day:
Red Helmets. Christmas Day. Netflix.netflix | #BillsMafia pic.twitter.com/JrqJOvUobX
So, we now know it will be a blue vs. white uniform matchup. However, Denver has not yet announced its helmet, pants and sock colors for that game. The Broncos could use their alternate white helmet, which would be a sharp contrast to the Bills' red lid.

Kristen Stewart has spent much of her life in front of cameras, yet fame has never made performing feel completely ordinary to her. Acting requires someone to become another person while an audience watches, an experience Stewart has described as inherently strange. Public appearances can bring a similar sense of discomfort, but one area where she has developed a distinctive identity is fashion. Rather than treating clothes as a carefully calculated part of celebrity life, Stewart prefers to trust her instincts. That approach has helped make her style recognizable both on the red carpet and on screen.
Stewart's relationship with fashion has also been shaped by her long ****** ociation with Chanel. Although glamorous gowns and designer looks frequently accompany major premieres and events, she does not believe every outfit needs to be worn simply because it appears fashionable. If something feels wrong, she would rather change direction. For Stewart, discomfort can become visible, so confidence comes from choosing clothing that feels authentic. Her willingness to mix elegance with a more relaxed personal style has become part of her public image.
That philosophy took on a different meaning when Stewart played Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín's 2021 film Spencer. The movie imagines Diana during a tense Christmas gathering with the British royal family as she struggles with her marriage and the expectations surrounding her position. Stewart found that the costumes were far more than beautiful recreations of royal fashion. They helped establish the emotional reality of the character and provided another way to understand the pressure Diana experienced.
Stewart described Diana's clothing as capable of communicating dramatically different emotions. At certain moments, an outfit could feel restrictive, almost like a form of confinement. At others, the same world of carefully chosen clothing could provide confidence and strength. Through research, Stewart noticed how Diana's personality could remain visible even when she appeared uncomfortable with what she was wearing. Instead of disappearing beneath the clothes, Diana could project an unmistakable energy through them. That observation became useful for Stewart as she searched for a believable interpretation rather than simply attempting an imitation.
Stewart and Diana both experienced extraordinary levels of public attention, but Stewart has resisted easy comparisons between their lives. What connects them more meaningfully in Spencer is the importance of individuality under intense scrutiny. For Stewart, clothing became one of several tools for exploring that conflict. Her instinctive approach to personal fashion may reject anything that feels unnatural, but acting sometimes requires exactly the opposite. An uncomfortable costume can reveal something essential about a character, turning fashion from decoration into a powerful part of storytelling.

Christina Aguilera is giving a rare glimpse into family time with her 12-year-old daughter, Summer Rain.
The 45-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer shared a photo of Summer, among other pictures from her summer, in an Aug. 29 Instagram post. In the rare mother-daughter photo, Aguilera is seen wearing an American flag T-shirt and leaning against her daughter, who sat on the hood of a light blue car, wearing jeans.
"Summerween," Aguilera captioned the post, which also included photos of romantic moments with her and fiancé Matthew Rutler, with whom she shares her daughter.
Despite maintaining an active presence on social media, Aguilera rarely shares photos of her children. Earlier, in March, she posted a reel recapping her family's visit to Costa Rica's La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge. The video featured clips of herself, Rutler and Summer enjoying their trip.
Before that, her daughter appeared in the 2025 documentary and concert film "Christmas in Paris."

When bestselling author Katherine Rundell meets young readers, they sometimes play it cool.
They know fantasy books like her "Impossible Creatures," set on magical hidden islands with dragons and sphinxes, are fiction. But they lean in anyway, with a glint in their eyes, and ask, "Just to check, though, is any of it real?"
It's a rewarding comment for the author, 39, who crafted a world real enough to spark that kind of wonder. Speaking to USA TODAY with the soothing lilt of a Miss Honey, Rundell is protective of her young readers and their imaginations. In a recent essay in The Guardian, she argued that artificial intelligence "risks becoming an iron curtain that comes down between a young person and their potential for thinking."
Could fantasy books be the antidote? Rundell is the first author since J.K. Rowling to simultaneously top the children's book charts in the UK and U.S. Queen Camilla will gift every Year 6 student in the UK a copy of "Impossible Creatures" for Christmas this year. Walt Disney Studios has ***** ed up the film rights for a whopping seven figures. And a recent review said the series' next installment, "The Neverfear" (out now from Knopf Books for Young Readers) "would make JRR Tolkien proud."
"I don't think the world is going to become an easier place to be in the next few years. I think it's going to get harder … So I would love to write a book that has in it peril, danger, but also has in it a sense that even amid peril and danger and fear, it is worth finding reasons to rejoice," she tells USA TODAY. "There is a reason that the book begins and ends with a feast, because I wanted the idea that there is always cause for hope. There is always a reason to come together and celebrate love, celebrate humanity."

Two letters Princess Diana wrote in the year before her death previously went up for auction.
In one, written around Christmas 1996, Diana heartbreakingly wrote that she hoped 1997 "will be an easier year for us all."
The Princess of Wales had just finalized her divorce from Prince Charles on August 28, 1996; on August 31, 1997, she died at age 36 in a Paris car crash.
Just months ahead of her tragic death in an August 31, 1997 car crash in Paris—when she was just 36 years old—Princess Diana was looking ahead to the future in an unearthed letter.
Diana had separated from her husband Prince Charles in 1992; finally, on August 28, 1996—just 368 days before her death—they finalized their divorce. Eight months before the accident that took her life, Diana wrote a "highly personal" letter just before Christmas 1996, where she wrote, heartbreakingly, that she hoped 1997 "will be an easier year for us all," per Vanity Fair.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — ******* eX has pulled off its biggest salvage operation yet, recovering its most recently launched Starship from the Indian Ocean.
Elon Musk's company is now in the process of shipping Starship back to its home base in Texas, a trip expected to take several months. ******* eX shared pictures of the recovery effort near Christmas Island late this week.
Starship — the biggest and most powerful rocket in the world — blasted off July 24 from Starbase, Texas. It was the 13th test flight of a full-up Starship, but unlike all the others, it survived the hourlong ******* e-skimming flight and remained floating and intact.
"Congratulations to the entire ******* eX Recovery team for battling through challenging conditions to give our engineers access to a wealth of data to continue rapidly developing Starship," the company said via X.
Starship is how Musk intends to get people and equipment to Mars, where he hopes to build a city. First up, though, is the moon. NASA is counting on Starship as well as Jeff Bezos' Blue Moon lander to return astronauts to the lunar surface as early as 2028.

PRAIRIE VIEW - State championships aren't won in the heat and humidity of late August.
Brian Randle and his players have a more lucid understanding of that reality than most. The Randle High School football program has ended each of its past two seasons with a high-stakes game right before Christmas.
With 16 more weeks remaining before the UIL hands out its gold-plated plaques in Arlington, the Lions are embracing the journey. They're calling this season "The Reckoning," and it's started with a momentous victory.
This campaign was never going to be about one opponent. Randle is simply 1-0 after Friday night's 20-14 triumph against Dallas powerhouse South Oak Cliff. But in a rubber match between the programs that have faced off for the past two Class 5A Division II state **** les, taking care of the Golden Bears was the first order of business.
"I mean, we had to break the tie," said Randle, whose team avenged a 35-19 loss from last December's championship game and is now in Class 5A Division I. "We had to break the tie. It's funny because I love what Dallas does. I love what SOC does. But their fans, they talk a lot. So it feels good to have bragging rights for another 12 months until we meet again."

Coca-Cola (KO) has spent nearly a century tying itself to Christmas.
Its decades of Santa advertising, starting in the 1930s, helped popularize and cement the jolly, red-suited Santa Claus most people picture today.
That connection sells a lot of soda every December.
Now the beverage giant wants a second holiday to call its own, and it is handing the job to Fanta.
The plan runs deeper than a seasonal ad. Fanta is building its own cast of Halloween characters and rolling them out worldwide.

Less than a day after the passing of legendary country music icon and entrepreneur Dolly Parton, another beloved celebrity has shuffled off this mortal coil. Tim Curry has passed away at the age of 80. The actor succumbed to health effects from a 2012 stroke on August 25, 2026.
Tim Curry was the child of a British Navy veteran and spent his youth in various foreign countries until settling in the seaside town of Plymouth when he was 11. He was interested in acting from a young age and turned that interest into serious study at the University of Birmingham. When he graduated in 1968, he was almost immediately cast in the London production of the hit play Hair.
It was there that history would be made when Tim Curry met Richard O'Brien, the writer of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The iconic role of Dr. Frank N. Furter was written specifically for Curry and elevated him to fame when it was adapted to film and became a cult classic. It was his flamboyant, Bowie-esque performance that made him a household name, even as his career in British television was also bringing him success.
He continued to act on stage throughout his career, but the 1980s saw him move to Hollywood as more film roles became available to him. He played the villain, aptly named Darkness, in Legend, and submarine medical officer Dr. Yevgeniy Petrov in The Hunt for Red October. But it was his comedy roles as the butler Wadsworth in Clue and as the harried hotel concierge Mr. Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York that brought him back into the spotlight after his Rocky Horror fame.
Curry did play dramatic roles, such as the conniving Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers and fortune-hunter Herkermer ******* lka in Congo, but on film, it was his zany antics that earned him recognition. His 1996 appearance as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, a movie that built its success from the novelty of having made A Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine, cemented Curry's status as a star. Like the ******* ens adaptation, the Muppet version of the Robert Lewis Stephenson classic became one of the most definitive film versions of the book.

Amid all the celebrity tributes pouring in for the late Dolly Parton, one of them is getting backlash for being "disrespectful" and "foul" to the country music icon.
Parton's former co-star Ricky Schroder played Parton's father in two NBC biopic movies based in the singer's childhood (2015's Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors and 2016's Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love), both of which were narrated and executive produced by Parton. In the wake of Parton's death on Tuesday, Schroder took to social media to post, "I didn't agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support … but Loved her anyway. Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy."

Ricky Schroder got slammed online following his transphobic and anti-vaccine laced tribute to Dolly Parton.
Remembrance after remembrance flooded the internet Tuesday after news that the country music legend had died. Schroder – who played Parton's father in two TV movies, "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" and "Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love" – joined his voice to the many. But he still couldn't help but point out their political differences in his tribute.
"I didnt [sic] agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support…but Loved her anyway," Schroder wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of him and Parton. "Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy."
This led to a number of celebrities calling the "NYPD Blue" star out for feeling the need to mention those things while honoring Parton. Katie Couric, Boy George, and many others heaped on their disgust for the way Schroder chose to honor Parton's memory.
"Ick," Couric wrote on Threads.

Ricky Schroder is giving people the "ick" with his tribute to late co-star Dolly Parton.
The NYPD Blue alum, 56, and legendary country singer appeared in Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors in 2025, as well as its 2026 sequel, Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love. He played a version of her father in both TV movies.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, August 25 — following Parton's death at the age of 80 — Schroder shared a post honoring the icon. Alongside a photo of them together, he wrote, "I didnt agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support…but Loved her anyway. Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy."
Parton was a vocal supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, speaking out against North Carolina's anti-trans bathroom bill in 2016 by telling CNN, "I think everybody should be treated with respect. I hope that everybody gets a chance to be who and what they are."
The singer also donated $1 million to vaccine research amid the Covid pandemic. After helping to fund the Moderna vaccine, she filmed herself receiving it as well, sharing the footage to social media.
