Peterson, who won the NFL's MVP award in 2012 with a near-record 2,097 rushing yards a season after suffering a torn ACL on Christmas Eve, ranks fifth on the all-time rushing list, with 14,918 yards. In ten years with the Vikings, he rushed for 11,747 yards.
Peterson's career was marred in 2014, when he missed nearly all of the season on paid leave following felony child-abuse charges that resulted in a no-contest plea to misdemeanor reckless ******* ault.
The following season, he led the league in rushing, with 1,485 yards.

Prince Harry reportedly wants his and wife Meghan Markle's children to spend more time with their grandfather, King Charles III, following their recent reunion.
The Spare author, 41, and the 44 year-old With Love, Meghan host's kids, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, traveled to the U.K. earlier this month and reunited with the sovereign, 77.
"Getting the kids back together with Charles is absolutely top of Harry's agenda right now, it's practically all he can talk about," the source tells Examiner. "He has his heart set on bringing them back for Christmas but he'd love to fit in a trip before then, too, if they can find a window in everyone's schedules."

We've reached Day 51 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' 2026 season opener, so we're looking back to 1999 for our Saints Play of the Day. A rookie quarterback stunned the Dallas Cowboys in front of a big crowd when Jake Delhomme scored a 51-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Eddie Kennison. You can see it for yourself right here.
While the Saints jumped out to a surprising 10-0 lead early on, the Cowboys fought back to get ahead 17-10 midway through the third quarter. So imagine their surprise when Delhomme struck back to tie it all up? It was a great throw off of play action, traveling from the New Orleans 41-yard line to the Dallas 19, where Kennison corralled the catch and jogged into the end zone. The Cowboys had Hall of Famers like Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Deion Sanders on their side, and it didn't matter.
This is a game we've highlighted before; Saints cornerback Fred Weary picked off Aikman and scored the game-winning touchdown on a Smith fumble recovery. Good on him and Delhomme for making such a difference. This was a big win for a Saints team that really needed it. New Orleans went into the game with a 2-12 record, and this ended up being a great gift for fans on Christmas Eve. They couldn't sustain that success, but with wins so rare in those days, this became an easy rallying point for fans to enjoy late in a lost season.

One of Paul McGinley's finest hours in the game of golf came at Gleneagles, when the four-time European Tour winner led a veteran group of mostly thirty-somethings to a sound thumping of the Americans in the 40th playing of the Ryder Cup. The win marked the third straight victory for the European side and the eighth win in 10 tries.
McGinley used data prep like no other previous Ryder Cup captain, yet maintained the heartfelt camaraderie that helped make the side a power. He even drew on world-famous soccer managers in the process.
"Remember, you've got teammates, and like we've said all week, the mantra all week, wave after wave of attack," McGinley said of what he told his team Saturday night. "(If) we don't hit with the first wave, hit with the second; if we don't hit with the second, hit with the third. We're coming. … We're relentless, just like the way Man United used to play," he said, drawing inspiration from the English soccer club, whose legendary former manager Alex Ferguson had been enlisted to counsel the Europeans.
Although it's been a dozen years since that victory, McGinley showed the same comfort around the Scottish course on Thursday, posting an impressive 2 under during the first round of play at the ISPS Handa Senior Open.
"It was great. Obviously made some mistakes which I'm not happy about. My Christmas card [scorecard] is like a Christmas tree with different colors on it. A lot of good golf in there. “I can’t get no respect.” Perhaps Rodney Dangerfield was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts because that is exactly how it feels around here sometimes. We see a lot of the same with the Pacers. A small market kills a team’s chances at nationally televised games, regardless of how good they may be. It’s worse in the NBA, but the Colts are on the docket for only two primetime games. That is straight up disrespectful when compared to the rest of the league.
The Downs brothers, Josh and Caleb, have a podcast on which Cam Newton was a recent guest. Caleb was drafted by the Cowboys, so you know they are going to get a disproportionate number of games under the lights no matter how good they are. With six games set for primetime, Newton quipped, “Caleb … you’re walking into a Netflix special. Josh over there went to a team that’s barely on Tubi.” It may sound rude on the surface, but it’s a joke that rings true. Even the 4:25 slot is barren for the Colts this year. Unless you live in the area or have NFL Sunday Ticket, the chances of seeing a Colts game are low.
It’s hard to yell foul completely on this one for a few reasons. The Colts had a great start to the year, but a rough finish. They missed the playoffs. Should that type of team be rewarded? Additionally, the NFL cares about money and not much else. Wherever LeBron James goes, so goes the money. That is why Adam Silver can’t make the schedule. I have watched some horrible Christmas Day Lakers games while much better, small market teams sat at home. Exact same concept in the NFL. Just like a Thunder-Pacers Finals wasn’t as lucrative as a Knicks-Spurs Finals, the NFL prefers huge markets on its biggest stages. Indianapolis, as great as it is, just can’t compete in that arena.
There aren’t many teams with fewer primetime games than the Colts. You’d have to scrape the bottom of the barrel of teams to find some with less. Here is the good news. With success, games can be flexed, and what time the Colts play doesn’t matter much. Winning is all that matters. The Colts, just like the Pacers, have to force their respective leagues to have no choice but to put them in the national spotlight. It isn’t easy, but if the Colts win and continue that in future seasons, expect more big time games in big time spots. They have to earn it first.

Noah Eagle is expected to be the play-by-play broadcaster on Netflix's NFL telecast when the 49ers face the Rams in Australia, sources told Front Office Sports.
Netflix declined to comment.
Eagle and his father, Ian, have each called one game apiece on Netflix's NFL Christmas doubleheader the last two seasons.
It is not yet known who the color commentator will be for the game, which takes place on Thurs., Sept. 10, the night after NBC airs the Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl rematch to kick off the 2026 NFL regular season.
Netflix will have five games this season. In addition to 49ers-Rams in Australia, it will also have Packers-Rams on Thanksgiving Eve, Bears-Packers and Broncos-Bills on Christmas, and a to-be-determined game on Saturday of Week 18.

There is always much debate about which royal relative the Prince and Princess of Wales' children look like. However, one photograph taken last Christmas finally settled the confusion when it comes to Princess Charlotte.
The young royal bore a striking resemblance to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, during the annual Christmas Day walkabout at Sandringham in Norfolk.
Charlotte joined her siblings George, 12, and Louis, eight, and other senior members of the royal family for morning mass at St Mary Magdalene Church before greeting the public who had gathered in the church's grounds.
For the festive occasion, the young princess wore a two-toned beige and chocolate brown double-breasted coat, dark brown tights and ballet flats in the same rich colour. The coat was bespoke Catherine Walker, and her shoes were Tory Burch cap-toe, croc-effect suede, according to Royal Fashion Police's Instagram page at the time.
She pulled her long brunette hair back from her face and styled it in a half-up-half-down fashion, fastening it together with a brown velvet bow clip. Her look for the festive gathering appeared remarkably similar to that of her great-grandmother, who also visited Sandringham every year.

COLORADO CITY, Colo. (AP) — The families of two men who discovered through DNA tests that they were switched at birth 38 years ago are accusing a North Dakota hospital of robbing them of the lives they were supposed to lead.
Kyle Bylin discovered his birth family after taking an at-home test he chose randomly during a Christmas gift-exchange. That led to his biological aunt on a genealogy platform. Her nephew, Jeremy Morrison, then had his DNA tested. The results were irrefutable.
"That's when my mind was just completely blown," Bylin said. "We could have never imagined that it was an actual birth switch that occurred."
Morrison said he was convinced as soon as he saw a photo of Bylin's brother and realized they looked very much alike.
Bylin and Morrison were the only babies born on Jan. 26, 1988, at Unity Medical Center in Grafton, North Dakota, according to their lawsuit filed in state court last week. Somehow, they went home with the wrong parents.

Vice President JD Vance spoke to podcaster Joe Rogan Wednesday about how California has declined under Gov. Gavin Newsom to the point it gave him flashbacks to visiting a "Third World country."

A palliative care unit in Nottingham has unveiled a new entrance for families and patients.
Hayward House, which is based at Nottingham City Hospital, raised more than £1.5m after a fundraising campaign was launched by Nottingham Hospitals Charity in 2022.
Some of the money raised was used to enhance the unit's garden to make it more accessible, and further work has been completed on the main entrance and reception area.
The new entrance was officially opened on Wednesday by the Swift family, whose annual Nuthall Christmas lights raised more than £179,000 for Hayward House over 22 years.
Wendy Swift, 59, said the family was delighted to support the centre, which looked after her father 22 years ago.

Netflix will be one of the first consumer-facing businesses to report fresh financials this earnings season, and expectations are modest.
The $12.574 billion that Netflix was modeling for Q2 revenue back in April is a 13.5% increase, its weakest top-line move in more than a year. The $3.327 billion that Netflix sees on the bottom line represents an even more disappointing 6.5% uptick. Slowing revenue growth and contracting operating and net income margins aren't a good look for a company.

Conor McGregor has his work cut out for him ahead of his big UFC 329 return against Max Holloway this Saturday. In preparation for the comeback bout, McGregor's head coach vows the former two-division UFC champion has pulled out all the stops.

Lifelong cyclist and Eugene middle school teacher Tanner Faris was unfazed.

Conor McGregor’s marquee return to the UFC is the latest UFC event to stay behind the Paramount+ paywall.
In August 2025, UFC reached an exclusive seven-year, $7.7 billion rights deal with Paramount in the United States. The agreement ended UFC’s pay-per-view model, moving all events to the Paramount+ streaming service, with select simulcasts on CBS.
CBS simulcast the final hour of the prelims and the first hour of the main card for UFC 326 in March and UFC 327 in April. Since then, however, Paramount has kept its biggest cards exclusive to Paramount+, which includes UFC Freedom 250, held in June on the White House lawn.
UFC 329, which features the return of Conor McGregor, will once again feature all live action exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service. Writer and lecturer Hugo Vickers recently revealed new details about the event in his biography, Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History – including the nickname Philip once gave Meghan.
Hugo Vickers wrote: "The staff at Sandringham joyfully surrounded the couple at the annual Christmas party and nicknamed the actress 'Sparkle'. Prince Philip, however, was not taken in. He referred to her as 'the American'."
Writing about the other family members' reactions, he added: "Nor were the Royal Family entirely happy, Prince Charles taking a Mountbatten line – have fun with her, but don't marry her. The Queen suggested that Harry should wait a year."

There were initial projections that he’d be sidelined for nine months, thus ruling him out for the remainder of 2026, although reports from France last month suggested that he’s hoping to be back in action by Christmas.

Summerville offers directness, goals and top-flight experience. He also arrives with a fairly mixed file, which is exactly why this sort of transfer becomes available to clubs like Fulham rather than being wrapped up immediately by the richest sides. He was “one of West Ham’s best players last season” and his form after Christmas was significant, “scoring seven goals in 10 games to lift West Ham’s hopes of avoiding the drop.” That is a serious spell of production in a bad team.
He also had a notable tournament with the Netherlands, “scoring two goals in four games” at the World Cup. Those numbers matter because they reinforce that he can impact games beyond one system or one club environment.
