After the Texas Longhorns went from preseason No. 1 in both major polls to missing the College Football Playoff for the first time in three years, head coach Steve Sarkisian shuffled his coaching staff after the regular season ended, firing first-year running backs coach Chad Scott, first-year defensive pass game coordinator Duane Akina in his return to the Forty Acres, and longtime defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.
Notably escaping accountability for the disastrous left guard position was offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood, whose unit played a big role in the disastrous road loss to the Gators to open SEC play that ultimately kept the Horns out of the CFP.
So the pressure has increased on Sarkisian's longtime colleague, who is now entering his 10th season on the same staff.
It's not hard to say that the Texas offensive line is in a better position than it was when Flood and Sarkisian first took over.
Since being completely blanked from the 2022 NFL Draft, the Longhorns have had six offensive linemen drafted into the NFL, including a top-10 pick in Kelvin Banks — a member of Flood's first recruiting class on the Forty Acres. On the same token, you can say that the 2026 version of the line was a step back from the previous group.

Los Angeles Rams wide reciever Puka Nacua left Tuesday's practice early with trainer Reggie Scott and did not return.
Nacua is in a contract year, and he is set to become the highest-paid wide reciever in the NFL, but he may already be injured.
According to head coach Sean McVay, Nacua did in fact leave early, though there is no information on his injury, and the coach does not know what led to it.
The Rams were hosting the Cowboys for a joint practice since both teams are in the LA area for their training camps, with Dallas basing out of Oxnard for the preseason.

Both the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are weighing their quarterback options ahead of their preseason matchup this week. But the Packers appear to be more certain about which signal caller will start the contest.
On Tuesday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed some huge news: starting quarterback Jordan Love will play in the matchup as things stand right now.
"Matt LaFleur said as of right now Jordan Love will play Thursday night at Pittsburgh although he said he reserves the right to change his mind," reporter Rob Demovsky wrote via X.
The Steelers aren't as willing to reveal whether or not Aaron Rodgers will play in the matchup, with the 42-year-old quarterback going so far as to say preseason "is not real football."
Love and Rodgers faced off for the first time last season, with the Packers victorious over the Steelers. But another battle between the two quarterbacks, albeit in a preseason game, would be exciting for fans to watch.

Rosie O'Donnell shared her experience taking the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, including the side effects. The former talk show host said she has "never felt better." However, she revealed that she had lost 12 pounds without making any changes, leading her to worry that she might have cancer.
O'Donnell spoke about the details on the August 11 episode of the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast. The 64-year-old said, as quoted by Us Weekly, "Three years ago, the doctor told me … they said, 'You have diabetes, can you take a shot?' I said, 'I think so. I don't know. I've never done a shot. Is it insulin?' … They said, 'No, it's this new drug and it really helps with your blood sugar.'"
O'Donnell said she was never told that the medication could cause rapid weight loss. She said doctors were focused on getting her "numbers" down. After starting Mounjaro, O'Donnell went to ***** u but said she could not eat after her son Blake proposed to Teresa Garofalow Westervelt. The couple got married in 2024. O'Donnell is also the mother of Parker, 31, Chelsea, 28, Vivienne, 23, and Clay, 13.
The comedian said she was overwhelmed with emotion after missing her mother, Roseann, and wishing she could have witnessed Blake's engagement and new chapter in life. She initially believed that emotional experience explained her weight loss. However, two weeks later, "I get on the scale. I call my doctor crying. I must have cancer. I've lost 12 pounds and I haven't done anything. It's been three weeks since I started that medicine."
O'Donnell, who first opened up about taking Mounjaro in January 2023, explained that losing weight had always been difficult for her, even when she actively tried. She said the drug could help many people with obesity but criticized the high cost of the treatment.

Could some things going on behind closed doors have a significant impact on this season, depending on how these conversations go regarding the potential discipline for a handful of players that we believe will be handed down by the start of the regular season?
In the NFL, some players might be hit by trouble, with names like Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs coming up. According to reports, more clarity might come during the regular season or maybe even sooner.

Filipina tennis star Alexandra Eala may be out of the National Bank Open, but she and the Filipino fans brought the best energy to this tournament which desperately needed it. She is currently enjoying well-deserved rest after busy weeks of tennis in DC and Toronto.
Eala will enter the Cincinnati Open potentially seeded as high as World No. 17 after her amazing summer run that included the WTA 500 win at the Mubadala DC Open a couple weeks ago.
In the meantime, her latest social media post exposes a less intense and lighter side to her personality. A familiar tennis face makes a cameo appearance.

Organizers of the European championships have defended ticket prices in Birmingham after British sprinter Amy Hunt won the 100-meter final at a nearly half-empty Alexander Stadium.
One of Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson's coaches was among those questioning prices and raising concerns about parking and the cost of food — with bratwurst hot dogs going for 15 pounds ($20).
The category A seats for Monday night's session — which included Jakob Ingebrigtsen's victory in the 5,000 meters and Hunt's gold — cost 150 pounds ($202). The cheapest adult ticket was 26 pounds ($35).
Official attendance Monday night was 13,623, though journalists on hand said the actual figure seemed lower, in a stadium with capacity at 23,000.
"Hearing from fans re high ticket prices, parking issues & even people not knowing it was taking place," Jenny Meadows, a coach of Hodgkinson, wrote on social media.

In a recent report, TuttoJuve claimed that ******* nal are exploring a move for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz this month. It has been stated that the Gunners are planning to move in for the Turkish wide player in this transfer window.
Yildiz enjoyed a good run of form at the Turin club in the previous campaign after he produced a string of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The 21-year-old scored ten goals and secured six ******* ists in 36 matches for Juventus last season in the league.
The Turkey international is currently among the most talented wingers in the Super Lig. Hence, it is no surprise that the Gunners are still trying to sign him in this transfer period.
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for ******* nal to land him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Liverpool are to send one star on his way very shortly. He's got one more match and then he's off.
Incredibly, pre-season is nearly over. Liverpool have under two weeks until the big kick-off and that leaves them with little time to get everything in order.
The reality is that they likely won't get everything in order and we expect certain sagas to extend into next season and through to January. Hopefully, Bradley Barcola joining the club isn't among those.
But Curtis Jones's future, for instance, doesn't look like getting sorted anytime soon. We might have to wait on that one.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe is one who will be sorted, though. The teenage centre-back has had a fantastic pre-season with Liverpool, filling in for the injured Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet and the absent Virgil van Dijk.

NEW YORK — CBS Sports is still "assessing" the Tony Romo situation, with no timetable set for his return.
That was the word from CBS Sports president and CEO David Berson at the network's annual talent press conference previewing the new NFL season. CBS put Romo on indefinite leave after his OWI arrest in his home state of Wisconsin in July. The 46-year-old Romo is due in court on Sept. 21.

J.J. Watt, CBS's No. 2 game ****** yst, will replace Romo on the No. 1 team with play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Baltimore Ravens cornerback and 2024 first-round draft pick Nate Wiggins was carted off the field roughly an hour into Tuesday's practice after suffering a left leg injury.
Wiggins tangled with rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane during one-on-one drills and fell to the turf. He appeared unable to put weight on the leg as he entered the team facility.
Asked about the potential seriousness of the injury, first-year head coach Jesse Minter said Wiggins was still being evaluated.
"Not a whole lot," Minter responded. "I think there's optimism, but again, we'll look at it, we'll see where it's at. It's one of those plays, really not much between the two guys in the play. So whether it was hitting the ground or whatever it was, we'll see what it looks like."
Wiggins' injury comes two practices after two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers left Friday's session with a thigh bruise. Flowers returned to limited action Tuesday after missing Sunday's practice.

Fantastic news all around on this fine Tuesday, as the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will surely make everyone's day with their uniform announcement. Both the Seahawks and Broncos are set to square off against one another to kick off Week 6 on Thursday Night Football this year. It is a clash between former AFC West rivals, so what better way to celebrate than for both to don their old threads.
That's right folks, Throwback Thursday is BACK in a big way, as the Seahawks and Broncos will each be rocking their classic uniforms.
Seattle announced three alternate uniform games for 2026 earlier this summer. They'll wear the throwbacks twice under the lights of prime time (Sunday Night Football vs the Chiefs, and Monday Night Football vs the Cowboys) and one game with their Nike Rivalries (Christmas Day vs the Rams). the NFL allows teams up to four games to wear alternate uniforms, and I was wondering what the Seahawks were planning to do with their final option.
Now we know, and I couldn't be more pleased. Especially since the Broncos will be participating as well.
Sadly, this does appear to mean the Seahawks will be sidelining their Action Green alternates for one more season. I know they are controversial among the 12th Man, but I personally love them. Alas, we wait for 2027 at the earliest to see if they return!

Former NFL linebacker Chad Brown strongly rejected LeSean McCoy's claim that Antonio Brown should be taken over Jerry Rice. Brown argued that Rice's career separates him from every other receiver.
McCoy made the comparison while appearing on Speakesy, praising Antonio Brown's peak and overall ability. He went as far as choosing Brown over Rice.
"[Antonio Brown] should be a first ballot HOFer… If it's AB or Jerry Rice, I'm taking AB," McCoy said.
That opinion immediately drew a sharp response from Chad Brown. The former linebacker argued that Rice's greatness cannot be measured only through athletic ability or peak production.
"This is some clown s**t," Brown said.

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins is doing his very best to live up to the pinky-promise of health he made to the press at the beginning of August.
Dobbins left practice early on Monday, leaving many to wonder if he was injured in a serious way before the season even began. Broncos coach Sean Payton said after practice that Dobbins suffered a soft-tissue injury and would be "fine."
Dobbins was back in pads and practicing on Tuesday, and had a message for Denver media during individual drills. "Hey, I been in the league for seven years," Dobbins said after flashing a thumbs-up to the media. "Sometimes you ain't gonna have [inaudible]. Sometimes. Sometimes. Y'all don't got to make the rumor."
Dobbins is coming off a Lisfranc injury which ended his season in 2025, but has vowed to be the best running back in the league in 2026.
"I know a lot of people say, 'Oh, he's only good for the first 10 weeks of the season,' I'll be in the top three (in rushing) for the first 10 weeks," Dobbins said after Denver's first training camp practice in late July. "Forget about the top three... I'm going to be No. 1. I'm going to keep it there for the whole year."

Jeremy Monga is not the only Leicester City teenager ***** nal have been looking to add to their squad during this transfer window, with the Gunners now turning their attention towards his teammate, Louis Page.
Arsenal were keen to sign Monga and came close to completing a deal before Manchester City entered the race and overtook them to secure his signature. The Gunners remain one of the clubs monitoring the young players on Leicester City's books, and another of their talents has now attracted their attention.
The Foxes have continued to develop promising players, with Page becoming a regular for the Leicester City first team after being promoted last year. The 18-year-old attacker is expected to continue developing and improving as he gains more experience.
According to the BBC, ***** nal are one of the teams interested in Page as they continue to monitor the teenager. His emergence at Leicester has attracted attention from clubs looking to add young talent to their squads, with the Gunners among those keeping an eye on his situation.
Leicester have established themselves as one of the clubs capable of producing talented players, and they are now making sales from their academy. However, ***** nal may not benefit from the latest opportunity despite their interest in Page.

Good luck finding any Big 12 season previews that don't spend 1/3 of their ****** e talking about Brandon Sorsby. That subject has been covered to death, so I'm limiting myself to merely mentioning that he will not be the QB for Texas Tech this season. The gap he leaves creates one of the bigger question marks in a conference. Even with that uncertainty, the Red Raiders will enter the season as favorites to defend their conference championship and make it back to the CFP. Who are the teams best situated to challenge Texas Tech for the conference ****** le and possibly make the Big 12 a two-bid league?
Texas Tech
Texas Tech has arguably adapted to the NIL/Transfer Portal era better than any team in the country, unsavory as it may be. Alum/Benefactor/Oil Tycoon/Slimeball Cody Campbell has given the team one of the top NIL budgets in the country and they have used it to elevate their talent level a clear cut above their in-conference competition. Last year, they last a single conference game, hammered the next two teams consistently over three combined meetings (BYU and Utah), finished in the top 10 in Offensive and Defensive SP+, and made a run to the CFP Quarterfinals. This year, Will Hammond looks like the starting QB, once he fully recovers from a torn ACL suffered early last season. Hammond is unspectacular, but gets the job done. The rest of the roster is loaded. RB Cameron ****** ey might be the biggest star, but the offensive line is probably the best overall unit. Even WR looks great with four big-time transfers coming in. They also took in basically an entire starting-quality defensive lineup through the transfer portal despite having decent returning production. They might not have anyone as dominant as DE David Bailey, but they are incredibly deep with proven players everywhere on the depth chart. Like Miami in the ACC, something would have to go horribly wrong to offset the talent advantage they have over the rest of the conference.
BYU
The Cougars once again fought to retain Kalani Sitake after another season where they performed above expectations. QB Bear Bachmeier was good as a true freshman, which usually means there is room to grow into being a true star. They reloaded their offensive line, including UW tackle prospect Paki Finau, who was blocked on the depth chart in Seattle. There are two question marks related to departures They have to replace their top three receivers from a season ago without obvious backfills. They also lost their DC, Jay Hill, to Michigan. Despite the loss of Hill, the defense returns lots of experience and production, which should ease the transition for promoted LB coach Kelly Poppinga. As is often the case with BYU teams under Sitake, the question will be about the offensive explosiveness. If Bachmeier has the receivers to make enough big plays, it looks like the defense and the running game should support a real contender.

If a recent transfer update from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Rangers are eyeing a move for Kosta Nedeljković. They would prefer a permanent deal for the Aston Villa right-back but are also open to a season-long loan with an option to buy contract.
The 20-year-old Serbia international progressed through Red Star Belgrade's academy ranks before being loaned out to Grafičar in the second division for first-team football. He made 20 senior appearances for Red Star during the 2023-24 season and was eventually roped in by the Villans for £8m.
After a sporadic start in the first six months, Nedeljković joined RB Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. He rejoined the Bundesliga giants last summer, but was hardly involved, primarily due to injury concerns. He has now returned to Villa Park, only to find himself behind Matty Cash, with the latter being the preferred choice on the right.

Unai Emery has often deployed Ezri Konsa and Lamare Bogarde as makeshift fullbacks and, therefore, does not fancy the Serbian in his immediate plans. The youngster, too, should seek a fresh challenge for regular gametime, and a transfer north of the border could earn him ******* ured minutes, given their conundrum in the defensive third.

NEW YORK – Tony Romo's leave of absence from CBS is going to last at least a little while longer.

The teenage attacker's performances have made a positive impression, and if those early feelings continue, he is expected to sign for Barça in September, when he turns 16.
Freire can operate in all three attacking positions, giving him plenty of versatility for the Barça youth setup.

The J.J. McCarthy era may already be over with the Minnesota Vikings. He will, barring a shocking roster move, be part of the team in 2026 and 2027. But, barring a shocking leap forward into competence, he will not be the homegrown franchise quarterback for which the Vikings have been searching since Daunte Culpepper was winging deep ***** down the decidedly non-hallowed halls of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
That's because McCarthy, even before Minnesota's first preseason game of the season, has been demoted. There was no hemming and hawing when it came to specifics of competition. There's no "-or-" designation on the depth chart. Head coach Kevin O'Connell understood people paid enough attention to see Kyler Murray was taking the lion's share of snaps with the starting offense in practice. He understood the frustration that came with averaging nearly 11 wins per season without a single playoff victory under his belt.
Thus, he made the logical decision most people expected.
It's another brutal blow in a brief career filled with them for McCarthy. He missed the entirety of his rookie season due to a knee injury. In his stead, journeyman backup Sam Darnold went from "veteran mentor" to "stud quarterback" in a 14-win season. O'Connell opted to stick with the quarterback his front office drafted 10th overall in 2024. That was two slots ahead of Bo Nix, a different kind of flawed-but-intriguing passer who was arguably an ankle injury away from leading the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl last winter.
Waiting for Nix in the big game? That would have been Darnold, who went on to sign a modest three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks before leading them to a world championship.

Liverpool's summer is taking on a familiar shape, ambition in the market, patience at the negotiating table, and a fanbase watching the calendar as much as the pitch. Credit to The Athletic, whose latest DealSheet offers a useful snapshot of where matters stand at Anfield, and the picture is one of selective movement rather than frenzy.
The headline development is clear enough. "Liverpool have completed a deal to bring in Ronald Araujo on loan for the season in the first move of the summer to tighten up the defence." In a window that has carried an urgent undertone around squad balance, that feels significant. Araujo arrives with stature, pedigree and versatility, and Liverpool have moved to address an area that had begun to look vulnerable.
Photo IMAGO
Elsewhere, the search for attacking reinforcement remains active but unresolved. "Discussions over bringing Bradley Barcola in from Paris Saint-Germain have continued, but Liverpool remain no closer to agreeing a fee, with the two clubs' valuations still considerably apart." It is a line that captures the push and pull of modern recruitment, aspiration against price discipline, desire tempered by realism.
There is also uncertainty around Curtis Jones, with interest from Inter Milan lingering in the background, and wider questions over how swiftly Liverpool can complete the squad-building required for Andoni Iraola's first season in charge. This is not a window for panic, but it is one for clarity.

Kickoff against Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 5, is inching closer, marking the debut of Texas A&M's new offensive and defensive coordinators.
After spending the last two seasons in Bryan-College Station as the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, Holmon Wiggins is preparing for his first campaign as the primary play-caller, entering his 23rd year coaching football. The Los Angeles, California, native was named the replacement for Colin Klein, who accepted the head coaching opening at his alma mater, Kansas State.
The return of quarterback Marcel Reed and a slew of playmakers like Mario Craver, Terry Bussey, Ashton Bethel-Roman and Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton provides Wiggins with one of the most talented groups in the Southeastern Conference.
On the other side of the ball, Lyle Hemphill is set for his first year as defensive coordinator, after being in the same role at James Madison in 2024. Last season, he served as the **** ociate head coach for the defense, but was promoted after Jay Bateman left to be Kentucky's defensive coordinator.
While Mike Elko is the primary defensive mastermind of the Aggies, Hemphill has been coaching for 24 years and has spent eight total seasons as the primary defensive coordinator with the Dukes, Wake Forest and Stony Brook.

On August 11, QumulusAI (NASDAQ:QMLS), a neocloud infrastructure provider, signed a GPU-as-a-Service agreement with DRW, a diversified global trading firm, to supply a dedicated Nvidia Blackwell B300 cluster. The capacity will be served from QumulusAI's U.S. data center footprint, carrying an initial one-year term and three one-year renewal options that could run up to four years in total.
The agreement follows a string of major AI infrastructure deals, pushing QMLS's total announced customer agreements past $246 million since early June. Previously on August 7, QumulusAI signed an agreement with an agentic hedge fund to provide Nvidia Blackwell GPU capacity. It also signed a $71.9 million, three-year agreement with an AI Inference platform provider to supply NVIDIA Blackwell B300 and B200 capacity.
These agreements signify a growing pipeline for QMLS that is supportive of management's fiscal 2026 targets. The company expects forward ARR of $300 million for fiscal year 2026 and approximately 30x growth in fiscal 2026 over fiscal 2025. This outlook is backed by executed contract revenue to date, expected renewals, deposit-backed compute capacity reservations and projected contract signings.
The particular DRW agreement in discussion expands QumulusAI's addressable markets beyond the current AI inference platforms that have driven much of its recent contract growth.
