On September 14, American Battery Technology Company (NASDAQ:ABAT) held its fiscal year 2026 earnings call, and for once the numbers matched the ambition. Revenue at its flagship recycling facility jumped more than 400% to $21.7 million, and the company posted its first-ever adjusted gross profit. But on the same call, CEO Ryan Melsert disclosed a federal directive that could choke off exports of one of the plant's key products, black mass, a reminder that ABAT's fortunes are still tied tightly to Washington.
Revenue jumped over 400% year over year to $21.7 million, fueled by higher throughput at the company's first recycling facility and increased sales of byproducts. Cost of goods sold rose only 67% over the same stretch, evidence that fixed costs are spreading across a much bigger volume of material. Even more telling, operating cash spend actually fell 16% even as throughput at the plant more than quadrupled. That combination pushed American Battery Technology to an adjusted gross profit of $1.7 million, a sharp turnaround from the $6.2 million loss it posted a year earlier.
The balance sheet tells a similar story. Cash climbed to $49.5 million as of June 30, 2026, and total ***** ets reached $133 million, up sharply from the prior year. The company also erased all of its long-term debt during the year, leaving it with a clean balance sheet heading into a period of heavy capital spending.
Growth plans are already in motion. A second recycling facility planned for the Southeast U.S., designed to process 100,000 tons of batteries a year, is backed by a $150 million grant from the Department of Energy, and a separate $10 million DOE grant is funding three next-generation recycling technologies. On the mining side, the Bureau of Land Management certified the company's plan of operations for its Tonopah lithium project in Nevada, home to an identified 21.3 million tons of lithium hydroxide, including 2.7 million tons of proven and probable reserves. The project also won a FAST-41 priority designation, intended to speed up federal permitting.
The clearest risk surfaced on the call itself. The US Department of Commerce issued a directive that effectively bans the export of black mass, the concentrated metal byproduct of battery recycling, unless a company obtains a specific exception. American Battery Technology has submitted a request for that exception, but as of the call, Commerce had not issued a formal response, and the company is storing black mass at its facility in the meantime.

Any concern about Mahomes' mobility coming off a torn ACL was quelled right away. After Bo Nix threw an interception to start the Denver Broncos' night, the Chiefs went on a long drive that was mostly Kenneth Walker III rushes. But when Mahomes needed to make a play with his legs he did so. Twice.
Mahomes ran for a touchdown but it was called back due to holding. It was still good to see Mahomes scrambling and getting into the end zone. Then on the next play, he did it again from further out.

On September 10, Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) posted record third-quarter revenue of $6.76 billion, up 13% year over year, and raised its full-year revenue and profit targets. Non-GAAP EPS climbed 15% to $6.13, while GAAP EPS rose 11% to $4.62. Buried inside those headline numbers was a sharper story: AI-first ending ARR topped $650 million, growing more than 150% year over year. The same call brought a leadership change, with Anil S. Chakravarthy set to take over as CEO from Shantanu Narayen on December 1. Investors got a lot to digest in one afternoon.
Adobe's AI tools are no longer just a demo. Firefly ending ARR, which spans the Firefly app and its credit packs, grew 40% quarter over quarter, and the Acrobat AI ******* istant doubled its monthly active users over the same three months. Total monthly active users across Adobe's businesses surpassed 1 billion in the quarter, up more than 20% year over year, and creative premium MAU crossed 100 million, up more than 70%. Business professionals and consumers MAU passed 900 million, up more than 25%. That kind of user growth, concentrated in free and freemium tiers, is what feeds the paid AI upgrades now showing up in ARR.
The company backed that growth with cash. Operating cash flow hit a third-quarter record of $2.52 billion, and Adobe bought back roughly 9.5 million shares during the quarter, leaving $24.55 billion still authorized for repurchases. Management raised its full-year revenue target to a range of $26.58 billion to $26.63 billion and its non-GAAP EPS target to $24.45 to $24.50. On the product side, Adobe struck a deal to acquire Topaz Labs, whose AI enhancement models for image and video work would slot directly into Firefly and Creative Cloud. Enterprise demand held up too, with ending ARR growing more than 20% year over year at each of Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Gen Studio, and Adobe Experience Platform.
Not every metric moved as fast. Remaining performance obligations, the backlog of contracted but unrecognized revenue, grew 8% year over year to $22.16 billion, trailing both the 13% revenue growth and the 11.2% growth in total ending ARR. Current RPO grew 9%, also behind the topline. Interim CFO Steven Day flagged a separate issue heading into the fourth quarter: a foreign-exchange headwind that partly offset the benefit of the third-quarter beat when management updated its full-year guidance.
AI-first ARR, for all its 150% growth rate, is still just over $650 million against a total ARR base of $27.50 billion, so it remains a small slice of the business even as it scales. On September 10, MasterCraft Boat Holdings (NASDAQ:MCFT) reported a fiscal fourth quarter that looked nothing like the one a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled, margins expanded across the legacy business, and the company closed out a year defined by its May 15 acquisition of Marine Products Corporation. But buried inside those same results was a $10.1 million writedown that tells a very different story about one corner of the business.
MasterCraft's core boat business is the reason the quarter worked at all. Legacy net sales, meaning the business before the acquisition, climbed 21.5% year over year to $96.6 million in the fourth quarter, powered by the next generation X Series lineup and less discounting at the dealer level. That combination of volume and pricing pushed legacy adjusted EBITDA margin up 730 basis points to 19.3%, up from 12% a year earlier. Once the newly acquired Chaparral and Robalo brands are added in, which contributed for only six weeks after the deal closed on May 15, consolidated fourth quarter net sales reached $129.9 million, up 63.4%, and adjusted EBITDA hit $20.5 million, up 114.9%.
The company also cleaned up its channel. Dealer field inventory for the legacy business fell 30% year over year, with turnover now running ahead of pre-pandemic levels, a sign dealers are selling boats rather than sitting on them. Full-year adjusted net income reached $30.2 million, or $1.76 per diluted share, up from $15.1 million, or $0.92 per share, in fiscal 2025. The company generated $22.3 million in free cash flow for the year and, as of June 30, held $43.9 million in cash, zero debt, and a fully available $75 million credit line. MasterCraft's own retail sales grew low single digits for the year even as the broader powerboat industry fell mid to high single digits, and the newer Robalo brand posted high single-digit retail growth in the fishing boat category.
The picture gets murkier once you look past the flagship brand. The Leisure segment, home to the Crest and Balise pontoon boats, saw fourth-quarter sales fall 11.2% year over year to $12.1 million, and the company booked a $10.1 million non-cash impairment against Crest brand ******* ets tied to what management called current category conditions. On a GAAP basis, that charge combined with acquisition costs and purchase accounting adjustments turned the quarter into a net loss of $7 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, compared to net income of $5.5 million a year earlier. Operating expenses rose $23.1 million in the quarter, including $5.9 million in transaction costs tied to the acquisition.

Kyler Murray was knocked out of the Minnesota Vikings' Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers when Javon Bullard delivered a dangerous hit to the quarterback's head. The Bulldogs led the Knights 22-18 with six minutes left in the game, but Richwoods scored a pair of late touchdowns. The go ahead touchdown game with Anjaliyah Adams for the go ahead touchdown to put the Knights up 24-22 and then Acosia Morris would put the game away in the final minute with a rushing touchdown as Richwoods defeated Mahomet-Seymour 30-22.
In other flag football action Normal Community had a big 19-12 win over Joliet Catholic. Bailey Engel continued to chuck the ball all over the gridiron as she had a couple more touchdown passes.
In volleyball Limestone was at the Lincoln Invitational looking to win the tournament for the second consecutive year, but the Rockets fell in three sets to O'Fallon.
Washington competed in the Williamsville Invitational where the Panthers took down the host school in straight sets.
Peoria High hosted the First To The Finish cross country meet that saw more than 200 schools and nearly 5,000 runners competing. In the girls class 1A run Stark County's Dusti Smith finished in second place while Eureka was the team champ. On the boys side Stark County's Evan **** loch was the star as he finished in first place with a time of 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

Chicago White Sox amateur scouting director Mike Shirley resigned on Saturday in the wake of an internal investigation into verbal harassment allegations, according to The Athletic.
Shirley was reportedly placed on administrative leave after the White Sox received an anonymous tip about his conduct at last month's Area Code Games in Long Beach, California. He was alleged to have made racial and ****** ist comments both about coworkers and in front of coworkers.
The White Sox human resources department reportedly launched an investigation into Shirley, interviewing members of his scouting department. It remains unclear what findings the investigation made.

At the end of Stage 1, the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series field filed down pit road for standard pit stops, but things quickly went very wrong.
On the narrow pit road, there was a check-up that led to Rajah Caruth and Nick Sanchez spinning. It was an accordion effect as cars piled in, pushing each other into the wreck.
Caruth's car clipped crew members of Brent Crews' No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing, who also narrowly avoided being crushed by Sanchez's out-of-control car. It was a truly frightening moment that could have resulted in severe injuries, but thankfully, everyone was okay.
That was such a close call for Bryan Backus on the rear of the No. 19.

Well that was atrocious and my eyeballs hurt just from having to witness that half of a football game.
Alabama's offense opened the game with Keelon Russell taking a bad intentional grounding penalty, Daniel Hill getting dropped for a loss, then Russell getting picked off by a defensive lineman for a quick pick 6. The Tide defense did turn around and get their own pick six with Luke Metz jumping a slant route, but that was about the last good thing to happen for Alabama.
The Tide defense generally stood their ground, but one drive got extended twice one "Defensive holding" penalties, then extended again when the Tide got a stop on 4th down, but the referees decided that, somehow, replay concluded that an incomplete pass was actually a fumble, and that fumble somehow occurred over the first down line despite the player not being at the line and ball being in his back arm.
Alabama's offense did put together two decent drives, but both stalled in the redzone on the backs of multiple penalties taking away touchdowns. Just eye-gouging football to have to watch.
Then, with a chance to go down the field and take a lead before halftime, Russell overthrew Rico Scott by about 15 yards and got picked off, giving Kentucky a short field. The Tide defense stood on their heads again, but Bray Hubbard got called for clapping when he celebrated his team not jumping offsides on a 4th down hard count. Technically the right penalty…. But man. The crucial-situation yellow flags coming out this entire half was awful. Anyway, it pushed Kentucky far enough up they could close the half with a field goal.

Ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, HoopsHype is releasing rankings at every position. While Fred VanVleet was rated rather low as a point guard, Rockets star Kevin Durant was recently ranked as one of the best in his position. In a list of the top 27 small forwards in the NBA, Durant placed fifth after averaging 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 ***** ists, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks in 78 appearances last season.

Michigan improved to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, beating Oklahoma 17-10.
Here are key takeaways from Michigan's win.
Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood was just 9-of-17 passing for 111 yards and was marginally better throwing the ball than he was in Week 1. However, he did some great things on the ground, including a 38-yard rushing touchdown to put Michigan up 7-0. In all, Underwood had 87 yards on the ground and the score. Underwood will have to improve passing. While Michigan should continue to lean on what he does best (running), that approach is bound to be stopped on a given week; the defense will give up more than 10 points, and Underwood's arm will decide if Michigan loses. Today was a step in the right direction; he didn't throw an interception despite a couple near picks. Even so, Michigan has a lot of tough games coming up this season (Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State) and improvement is necessary through the air.
Michigan had 11 penalties for 90 yards, and many of these extended drives for Oklahoma. Jyaire Hill had a late hit, Dom Nichols ripped John Mateer's helmet off, Shamari Earls had a facemask penalty. Even though it's only Week 2, Florida State's (1-1, 0-1) bye week could not have come at a better time.
The Seminoles looked lethargic against New Mexico State in Week 0 before being clearly the worst team against SMU on Labor Day, with the Seminoles unable to capitalize on winning the turnover margin, essentially by a 4-0 margin.
"Just another close game," head coach Mike Norvell told the local Tallahassee media after the Noles' first defeat on Monday. "A lot of one plays, and you think back through it, some of the explosive plays that we had, that we gave up defensively, some missed opportunities there offensively."
Norvell's job status looms over the program, but the Seminoles have red flags all over the roster right now. Unfortunately for them, there will be no rest for the weary. After the bye week, FSU travels to Tuscaloosa to take on a 12th-ranked Alabama team looking for revenge after the Seminoles' stunning Week 1 upset last year in Tallahassee.

The White Sox beat the Cleveland Blues, 12-4, in Chicago to clinch the franchise's first pennant. (The American League would not be recognized as an official major league until 1901, however.) Roy Patterson got the win in the game.
The season seemed to set the tone for the franchise, with exceptional pitching and defense — and just enough hitting to win games. Cleveland manager Jimmy McAleer said as much after the Sox clinched against his club: "It's the strangest thing that ever happened. A club with no good batsman to win a flag! Why, such a thing was never heard of before. [Dick] Padden has done most of it. He has been the whole works, and has shown himself a born general. The pitchers did the rest, with special credit to that lad Patterson."
Brett Ballantini devoted an episode of South Side Sox's Flashback to this win, back in 2019.

Arriving at Detroit's Bennett Park for a five-game set against the first-place Tigers and behind by three games, the White Sox won the opener, then played four consecutive extra-inning games to finish out the series, splitting them. On this day, the White Sox got back to just two games out with a 2-1 victory in 10 innings. Frank Smith not only went the distance for his 12th win on the season, he singled in the game-winner in the top of the 10th.
The White Sox continued a three-way fight for the pennant (with Cleveland as well), and the season came down to the last day, hosting Detroit. Had the White Sox not been blown out in the finale, they would have finished tied with (but percentage points ahead of) Cleveland and a half-game in front of the Tigers for the pennant.

A week after Nick Saban and Pat McAfee practically did an infomercial for the Protect College Sports Act during College GameDay, one of the bill's co-sponsors, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), was given the chance to make a full-throated defense of the bill and why it needed to be passed by the Senate and House, with Cruz previously saying that if passed, President Donald Trump would sign it into law on a future episode of ESPN's flagship college football show.
Even by the standards of College GameDay, which has been known to put its thumb on the scale when it wanted, this whole affair has been wildly inappropriate. It's one thing for Kirk Herbstreit to chastise football players for opting out of meaningless bowl games; it's another thing for the show to put its full weight behind a Congressional bill without providing ample time to those proponents and opponents, especially when those who oppose the bill do so on the grounds that it will negatively impact the earning ability of the athletes who make the sport work.
However, it helps you understand this all-out blitz when you realize where ESPN's parent company is putting its money.

Manchester United supporters' group have revealed how they will protest during Sunday's Manchester derby.
The Red Army said there will be no flag display ahead of the game as part of a protest which follows the club's investigation into ticket touting.
United revealed they had banned 685 season tickets following a contentious probe which had been condemned by many, with protests already planned for Sunday afternoon.
The Red Army said they will make their own views known by removing their regular flag display in the Stretford End and replacing it with a single banner above the players' tunnel. It will read: "The way you treat us is a disgrace."
In a statement, the group said: "This isn't a 'TRA' message, it's a message on behalf of every genuine fan group, match-going supporter, supporters' club and fan representative who has either contacted us directly or been negatively impacted by the recent behaviour of the club.

The Red Devils' 20-12 loss to the Bears on Friday, Sept. 11, ended their 62-game winning streak that dates back to November 2022 when they lost to Auburn High School in the state quarterfinals during their first official season.

On Friday, he shared an Instagram video of an American flag blowing in the wind, writing in the caption, "This anniversary is always a gut punch of emotions…words just can't say it all."
That near miss has followed Wahlberg for years, particularly after comments he made in a 2012 Men's Journal interview sparked backlash. CANNONSBURG Riley Maynard cornered the market on game-winners.
The ball hadn't seen the back of the net for nearly an hour of match time when the Boyd County freshman took care of any shootout concerns in the second overtime period against Ashland.
Maynard lined up her shot near the corner flag, connected with her left foot, and curved it inside the far post to lift the Lions to a 2-1 win in the 63rd District seeding contest Thursday.
Boyd County coach Olivia Pennington said it's not the first time Maynard found her target on the long-distance shot that offers no angle to the goal.
"It's something that she's done multiple times this season," Pennington said. "Any time we have that shot on the left side, Riley is attempting that shot."
