It would appear New York Giants defenders aren't too happy with running back Cam Skattebo after he started another fight at practice on Wednesday.
According to the New York Daily News' Pat Leonard, Skattebo got into it with cornerback Greg Newsome after nearly taking out multiple Giants defensive backs with a slide after making a catch on one rep.
Leonard adds that Skattebo's "act is getting old" with his defensive teammates, especially after he "ran over linebacker Zaire Barnes" at an earlier practice.
"Cam Skattebo started a fight in practice today. He slid down after a reception and came dangerously close to taking out a couple Giants DBs' legs. The defense isn't allowed to hit," Leonard wrote.

Infectious energy can be a great thing for NFL teams, but infectious diseases – those are always something to avoid.
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh characterized running back Cam Skattebo's energy on Wednesday, Aug. 26 as more of the latter. Skattebo's antics in practice on Wednesday ignited a fight with Giants defensive backs Jevón Holland and Greg Newsome II, according to multiple reports.
Asked about "infectious" energy from Skattebo on Aug. 26, Harbaugh criticized Skattebo's antagonizing, according to a report.
"Yeah it's infectious. It can be infectious the other way, an infectious disease type of thing. We want it to be in a positive way," Harbaugh reportedly said.

Is New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo among the stars at the position in the NFL who are too good to pass up in fantasy football for the 2026 season?
He certainly may be.
FantasyPros' Evan Tarracciano touted Skattebo as a must-have running back to target in fantasy football next season.
Skattebo has plenty of factors working in his favor and has the upside of a top-10 player at the position. First and foremost, New York's transition to a "ground-and-pound" style of offense under head coach John Harbaugh fits perfectly with Skattebo's running style. He is a pure north-south runner who would rather run through defenders than around them.
Anyone worried about Skattebo's recovery from his knee injury should remember that Skattebo's game isn't centered around agility and elusiveness — cutting side to side was never his strong suit. Second, the team made it a point to get much more physical in the offseason, adding road-grinder fullback Patrick Ricard in front of him and shoring up the offensive line with top guard Francis Mauigoa from the University of Miami.

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo stepped back onto the field Saturday and left it feeling more like himself than he had in a long time. The running back said he felt great with the ball in his hands, even as he continues working his way fully back from injury.
"I made some minor errors in my details of what I was doing, but for the most part, I felt good having the ball in my hands," Skattebo told reporters.
The mistakes were limited to small footwork issues on certain plays, the kind of details he plans to clean up in the film room. Mentally, the injury never entered the picture.
"If it's not hurting me or if it's not bothering me, my mind is clear of it. When I went out there on Saturday, I had no feeling or any recollection of injury in my brain. I was ready to go play football, and adrenaline gets going, so everything kind of goes away," he said.
That clarity did not arrive overnight. The long rehab process brought its share of darker moments, and Skattebo leaned heavily on wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been navigating his own recovery. The two supported each other through the hardest stretches. As Skattebo regained health first, he was able to help pull Nabers out of a difficult mental ***** e.

Cam Skattebo made his return to game action for the New York Giants, and John Harbaugh liked what he saw. The running back carried four times for 19 yards against the Minnesota Vikings.
Skattebo entered the preseason opener after suffering a serious leg injury during his rookie NFL season. He has since been cleared without structural limitations and expects to handle a major role this season.

Still, Harbaugh thinks that Skattebo is not yet at full strength. The Giants coach saw enough during his first game to highlight traits that can make him valuable in New York's offense.
"I've learned that you really can't evaluate running backs until the tackling starts, until the games start," Harbaugh told reporters. "And, you know, I haven't been around Skattebo day to day. You know him better as a player than I do.

New York Giants running back Dante Miller could miss time with an injury suffered Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh said Sunday that "there might be a situation" with Miller, and that it could be "a soft tissue or groin type thing". Miller had said after the game that he thought it was a lower abdominal issue.
Miller, 27, spent the last two seasons on the Giants' practice squad. He was active for two games last season, but did not get a carry or pass reception.
Miller appeared to be injured covering a punt in the second half of Saturday's game. He did return to action, but was clearly uncomfortable in the locker room afterwards.
Miller appeared to have only an outside chance to make the roster, with Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, and Devin Singletary seemingly locked into spots. Missing time could be the death knell for his roster chances.

NFL fans are concerned about New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo after watching a preseason training video.
The Giants drafted Skattebo in the fourth round last year, and he made an immediate impact at MetLife Stadium.
The 24-year-old had 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in eight games before suffering a broken ankle.
Skattebo then missed the remainder of the 2025 season due to injury and is now preparing for his comeback next month.

While there were certainly some reasons for optimism surrounding the New York Giants' 2025-26 campaign, it ended like eight of the previous nine seasons have in East Rutherford: with a losing record and without a playoff berth.
After firing Brian Daboll during the season and hiring John Harbaugh this offseason, though, one bettor is convinced next season will be much better for Big Blue.
A bettor at DraftKings placed a $29,347 wager on the Giants to win Super Bowl LXI at 80-1 odds, which would win $2.347 million if New York won its first Super Bowl since 2012. The Giants beat the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI.
New York is currently 70-1 to win the Super Bowl at DraftKings sportsbooks.
The Giants finished 4-13 last season, despite winning their final two games, which also ****** ped their potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft from No. 1 overall to No. 5. First-round pick QB Jaxson Dart showed promise, but also suffered several concussions. Top wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 and rookie running Cam Skattebo dislocated his right ankle in October, also ending his season.

Giants' John Harbaugh believes Abdul Carter could become next NFL DPOY originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Giants are a fairly young team, but this does not mean that they do not have big aspirations. Coach John Harbaugh clearly wants guys like Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo to experience a semblance of getting close to a Super Bowl victory. While they all have this shared dream, some players are aiming for legacy-building accolades. Abdul Carter is one of those young guns, and he is aiming to usurp JJ Watt in a certain NFL DPOY record.
Abdul Carter is set on winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year at some point in his career. The Giants linebacker already put up impressive numbers to finish fifth in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2025, but this was clearly not enough for him.
Coach John Harbaugh is seeing how driven his sophomore linebacker is when it comes to his pursuit of greatness. This is why the Giants head coach believes that his sophomore linebacker can pull off this legendary feat, via Grant Gordon of NFL.com.
"I didn't know him as well because, honestly, in the draft, it wasn't a guy we were really looking at because we weren't going to have a chance to draft him. And so, I didn't know him at all. Then, I started talking to him and liked him right away and the things he had said that he wanted to do. I would say this, I'd say everything he's spoken of in terms of what he wants to accomplish and his plans to do so, he's following through on," the Giants head coach declared.

Will New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart be a fantasy football breakout star in 2026?
Perhaps.
Sports Illustrated's Michael Fabiano sees Dart as this year's version of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye from last season in fantasy football.
Dart is my favorite breakout quarterback for this season. He finished 13th in points as a rookie, but he averaged more than 17 fantasy points in his 14 games (12 starts). A dual-threat quarterback, he rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns. Dart also found success as a passer, and he did it without his top option, Malik Nabers. With Nabers and Cam Skattebo back in action, Dart will have plenty of weapons and a terrific shot at being this year's Drake Maye.
It's reasonable to project Dart flirting with 4,000 passing yards and exceeding 500 rushing yards this coming season.

By ******* yzing the realistic fantasy outcomes of Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo, we can better understand if they're bargains or busts. All three have the potential to help managers win their ******* le. All three also bring risks.
Twenty years ago, I went all in on the Rams at my fantasy draft, selecting Marc Bulger, Steven Jackson, Torry Holt, and yes, even kicker Jeff Wilkins. They finished the year (respectively) as the QB4, RB2, and WR5. Wilkins even co-led the league with 32 made field goals. I won the ******* le.
This year's top Giants playmakers have similar boom potential. Dart averaged 20.1 fantasy points per start last season, which would have made him the QB5. In the six contexts when Skattebo had more than three carries, he averaged 19.1 points, which would have made him the RB6. In three full games last year, Nabers averaged 17.7 points, which would have made him the WR6; the year before, he was the WR7.
That's the good news. The rougher news is that all three have above-average risk potential. Dart's head injury history is well documented, and there are serious questions surrounding whether he'll still be an active rusher. Both Skattebo and Nabers are coming off season-ending injuries, and in particular, Skattebo's hard-running style generates concerns about his long-term durability.
Each one has a realistic range of outcomes based on their proven ceilings and their injury risks. Based on average draft positions, Nabers and Skattebo typically are coming off the board in the third round of 12-team leagues, while Dart is falling to the eighth.

Is New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo a good player to bank on as a breakout star in fantasy football next season?
NFL.com's Matt Okada believes so, and lists Skattebo as one of 14 breakout candidates for fantasy football in 2026.
From Week 2 through Week 7 of Skattebo's rookie season, while he was the feature back and healthy, he scored the sixth-most fantasy points at the position, averaging 19.1 per game. He did so despite averaging just 0.5 yards before contact per carry during this span, amazingly averaging 3.7 yards after contact per carry and forcing a missed tackle on 29.2% of his carries, per NFL Pro. The good news: New head coach John Harbaugh has already reshaped the run game in front of Skattebo with the selection of offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa and the acquisition of fullback Patrick Ricard (among other moves).
There are hurdles to the second-year back's breakout: the injury risk of Skattebo's violent running style and, to a lesser degree, the presence of Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the backfield. But with good health and an improved offense, Skattebo has the ultimate upside to contend for RB1 overall.
Skattebo was a productive running back before suffering an injury last season. He found ways to accumulate yards on the ground and reach the end zone, earning goal-line touches and similar opportunities. He is projected by some to rush for more than 1,000 yards in 2026, positioning him as a player who may experience one of the biggest jumps next season.

When Giants running back Cam Skattebo did a backflip while recovering from an injury, coach John Harbaugh joked that he should have stuck the landing. When a couple of oft-injured Packers players did backflips, coach Matt LaFleur took a harder line.
Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd and wide receiver Christian Watson, both of whom have been injury-prone, both did backflip celebrations, and LaFleur told them to knock it off.
Lloyd said after a training camp practice that LaFleur told him to stop.
"I've always been able to do it," Lloyd told reporters. "Coach LaFleur doesn't want me to do it no more. . . . He said it was cool, but he said, 'Let's not do that.'"
Lloyd said LaFleur told Watson to stop the backflips, too.

Will the New York Giants go from worst to first in the NFC East next season? Do they have the best shot among last-place finishers from 2025 to flip the script in their respective divisions in 2026?
The ***** ociated Press' Josh Dubow pointed to the Giants' strength at the top of their coaching and roster hierarchies as reason for optimism that the team can finish first in the NFC East next season.
Reason for optimism: New coach John Harbaugh brings a proven track record to a franchise that needed a big jolt. Jaxson Dart showed flashes as a rookie with 15 touchdown passes and nine TD runs and could be better if WR Malik Nabers is healthy. Brian Burns and Abdul Carter give New York a potential strong one-two punch at pass rusher and rookie Arvell Reese could make an immediate impact.
Reason for pessimism: The Giants had one of the league's worst run defenses last season and traded away defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in the offseason. That leaves a potentially big hole on the interior defensive line. If Nabers doesn't get back to his rookie form from 2024, the offense lacks playmakers on the outside.
The Giants possess clear star power. Dart is capable of topping 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in 2026. Nabers has the talent to finish among the league's top five in receiving yards. Cam Skattebo is expected to approach 1,000 rushing yards, while Tyrone Tracy has already shown he can produce 1,000 scrimmage yards in a season.

Jaxson Dart will be hoping to prove his worth this season following a frustrating 2025, which ended in a dismal 4-13 record for the New York Giants.
A lot has changed over this offseason, with veteran head coach John Harbaugh being brought in to try to steer the Giants back to success.
However, a lot will rest on whether Dart can take his game to another level with players like Isaiah Likely added to the roster to provide him with another outlet on offence.
The Giants will also see running back Cam Skattebo return to the field following his season-ending injury last year.
Early signs out of New York are positive, with Harbaugh said to be an admirer of Dart and what he has shown so far.

Editor's note: This is the 26th and final entry in Art Stapleton's New York Giants summer series Q&A
The Giants have been pushed around for too long on both sides of the ball. They've emphasized building a team that refuses to get shoved without consequence between the lines, in back page headlines and on banners pulled by planes over MetLife Stadium.
That was going to take making over a locker room last year that needed to not only help establish a shift in expectations and results, but also do what is needed to change perspective and performance.
Enter John Harbaugh, who wants to build the Giants into a bully in NFC East, and for that to happen, the tone will be set in camp at the Greenbrier in West Virginia when they hit the practice fields beginning Wednesday.
Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo represented that change in attitude last season in a Thursday night upset of the Eagles, breaking free of the old ***** oned-down Giants way that had gotten stale with all the losing around here for more than a decade.

The New York Giants got some much needed good news around dinner time on Thursday evening.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) is not expected to start training camp on the PUP list, per a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
As we well know, Nabers suffered a torn ACL with additional meniscus damage in the Giants Week 4 win against the Los Angeles Chargers a year ago. In addition to the surgery to repair his torn ACL, Nabers also needed to have his meniscus repaired. He also had a cleanup surgery earlier in the off-season, which raised questions as to his readiness for the 2026 season — let alone training camp.
Instead, it does appear that he's trending toward being ready for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. Just how ready remains to be seen, but this is better news than the possibility of missing the first four weeks on the PUP list. Nabers will be ineligible for the PUP list once he practices the first time or plays in a preseason game.
Likewise, running back Cam Skattebo will be active to start training camp.

Did New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh go ballistic when he saw the video of running back Cam Skattebo, coming back from a dislocated ankle, fall while attempting a backflip over the weekend?
Not exactly.
"My reaction was, dude, at least stick it," Harbaugh said while appearing on the 'Bleav in Giants' podcast with Bob Papa and Carl Banks. "Land the thing if you're gonna do it."
Harbaugh added that "Skat's gonna be ready to go" training camp. He said he had not spoken to the second-year running back about the incident.
"He's been working super-hard. He's really been training like crazy, and his mind is on camp," Harbaugh said. "He's healthy. He's ready to roll, and I can't wait to see him out there at practice."

Cam Skattebo decided to test the hearts of New York Giants fans as the second-year running back, who is recovering from a broken right fibula and dislocated right ankle, decided to do a backflip on stage this past weekend at Fanatics Fest.
While Skattebo said he was "perfectly fine" and promised to "not hurt myself before the season," there was a curiosity as to what John Harbaugh would think when he saw the video. While the new Giants head coach has not spoken to the running back, he did seem to be ok with it all during an appearance on the "Bleav in Giants" podcast.
"I haven't talked to him yet, I'm going to talk to him I'm sure. My reaction was this: Dude, at least stick it. I mean, land the thing if you're going to do it, you know?" a smiling Harbaugh said. "That was my first reaction."
Skattebo said in May that his rehab was coming along good and that while the physical part has been fine, it was the mental battle that's been the toughest. Despite that, he noted he'll be "ready to go" for the Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys,

New York Giants training camp is two weeks away. That reality is at the forefront of everything being written about the Giants right now. Let’s get to the headlines.
“One-hundred percent, yes, truly an opportunity,” Harbaugh said In an interview with the Dominique Foxworth Show. “Those are welcome things because those are going to happen. Those types of things — I told the guys, this is not a one-off. This is not the first time we’re going to be thrown into this very thing, the political, social discourse. So we have to have conversations in a reasonable — in a way that respects one another. So, how are we going to go about this? What do you guys think?
“And, really, honestly, Dominique, I didn’t have to do anything. I didn’t have to say anything, really. The players said it. They laid the ground rules down for the guys and decided how it would be approached going forward. So now, when these waves keep coming in from the ocean and crash against our shore, I think we’ll be better prepared for them going forward because we’ll be expecting them. And we’ll be talking about how we’re going to deal with them.”
Perhaps the most critical part to any success for the Giants in Harbaugh’s first season and beyond will be tied to Jaxson Dart’s progression throughout the summer and into the 2026 season. His presence in the spring has garnered headlines on a much wider scale than anticipated, and with that comes the pressure to deliver – both internal, which is always present for Dart, and external from those ready to make a judgment on the Giants’ quarterback after every play.
And it’s already started: the borderline disrespect of Dart’s game with cries of how he has not done enough to celebrate the Knicks’ championship with teammates or appear in Crocs commercials on social media with Cam Skattebo, that he is acting as if he has accomplished more than he has so far and supposedly tearing apart the locker room by veering into the great political divide. That’s all a crock, of course, but perception becomes reality when critics don’t care about taking the time to figure out what’s real and what’s imagined.

Earlier this offseason, one of the NFL's young wide receivers received a massive endorsement from his head coach. Chicago Bears receiver Luther Burden III enters his second season after a generally successful rookie campaign, but head coach Ben Johnson expects him to take an even bigger step forward.
Johnson is not the only one expecting a breakout. In ESPN's breakdown of players poised for a breakout on each team, Burden headlined the Bears' list.

"Burden was largely a screen-and-shot player to start the 2025 season, but he started to get more opportunities on crossers and underneath routes as coach Ben Johnson grew to trust him with the ball in his hands. With DJ Moore gone and Rome Odunze working back from a foot injury, the door is wide open for Burden to grab more targets — targets designed especially for him as a terrifying yards-after-catch threat. The sky is the limit here," ESPN reported.

Cam Skattebo made a lot of noise early last season. He outperformed his NFL draft status, appearing in eight games for the New York Giants, including five starts. The running back delivered impactful plays that received a lot of praise. He also cemented his spot in the starting unit despite only being drafted at No. 105.
However, an ankle injury cut short his rookie year in Week 8. Skattebo has been rehabbing for a potential return in Week 1. He posted his photos from last year and this offseason on X on Wednesday, featuring his new hairstyle.

One of the NFL’s rising stars is New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo. The former Arizona State standout has not only taken the league by storm on the field, but his larger-than-life personality has also made him a fan favorite off it. However, a season-ending ankle injury cut his impressive rookie campaign short. Even so, his new head coach, John Harbaugh, recently offered a strong endorsement of his running back’s recovery.
According to an ESPN report by Jordan Raanan, Skattebo is expected to return as a full participant for training camp. That update comes after speculation that he would not be ready for Week 1, a claim Skattebo disputed. Harbaugh called the second-year back a top-tier talent, reflecting his confidence in Skattebo’s recovery.
MORE: New York Giants expected to move on from former third-round wide receiver
“It seems to me he was that kind of guy at Arizona State and the exact same guy that I saw on tape last year,” Harbaugh said. “You guys know better. You watched him up close and personal. He’s a top tier back, and he’s planning on playing that way this year.”
Skattebo not only plans to play at that level, but Harbaugh clearly expects him to. The second-year back has impressed throughout his recovery and appears poised to pick up where he left off. He will be a critical piece of the Giants’ young offensive core.

Much is to be determined at the New York Giants' training camp this summer, which begins in less than a month down in West Virginia.
New head coach John Harbaugh will cut his first roster with Big Blue, and many new faces will be in tow. One room that has not changed much since last season, however, is the running back room.
Cam Skattebo, the fiery rookie out of Arizona State who won over the fans with his aggressive style of play in 2025, will be back, but he still has to prove that he is fully recovered from a gruesome lower leg injury he suffered midway through last season.

If you're used to the Odell Beckham Jr. of the 2010's, then it wouldn't be out of line to feel like the star wide receiver was a bit past his prime. After he began his career with five 1,000-yard seasons in his first six years in the league, he has gone six consecutive seasons without accomplishing the feat. His last NFL action came in 2024, when he made nine appearances for the Dolphins and totaled just nine receptions for 55 yards.
But Beckham is looking to make his comeback with the New York Giants, the franchise with which he first debuted and found success in the NFL. And in footage from his workouts this offseason, he also looks a lot closer to the player he was during those years. Beckham went viral when he appeared on video in phenomenal shape, hauling in an athletic reception with ease.
Beckham will also have a talented support system to rely upon with the Giants, as the franchise has brought in former Super Bowl champion John Harbaugh as the new head coach, and standout young quarterback Jaxson Dart will be back as the signal caller in his second year. The Giants also have a run game to complement the passing attack with Cam Skattebo in the backfield, and another star wide receiver in Mailk Nabers.
Combined, the Giants have a sneakily talented offense that could take many teams by surprise if things go right. And it could be exactly what Beckham needs to get back to peak form after a downturn in the 2020's/

One thing remains constant around the Baltimore Ravens. Nothing ever stays the same. Every offseason brings change. Coaches earn promotions elsewhere. Front-office executives climb the NFL ladder. Players leave in free agency while new stars arrive to take their place. It's the price of sustained success. This offseason has been no different.
Former offensive coordinator Todd Monken is now the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Mike Macdonald celebrated a Super Bowl championship with the Seattle Seahawks this past February, and former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh now leads the New York Giants.
The roster has evolved as well. FOX Sports recently ranked the 15 offseason additions expected to make the biggest impact around the league, and three current or former Ravens earned spots on the list.
Patrick Ricard checked in at No. 15. FOX Sports believes the longtime Ravens fullback will play a critical role in helping John Harbaugh establish the physical identity he wants in New York. Ricard's blocking ability has been one of Baltimore's offensive staples for years, and the expectation is that he'll create running lanes for quarterback Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and a revamped Giants backfield.
His departure certainly leaves a void in Baltimore's running game. It also speaks to the value Ricard continues to bring, even this late in his career.
