The Jacksonville Jaguars announced their initial 53-man roster last weekend, which saw a major trend towards young players with lots of potential for the future. However, that does not mean veteran experience isn't valued in Jacksonville anymore.
In a recent press conference, head coach Liam Coen pointed to Jahlani Tavai and Ameer Abdullah as examples of veteran newcomers who made the roster, despite facing competition from younger players at their positions.
"It's typically challenging to make those teams in some of those instances, and so credit those guys," he said of Abdullah and Tavai. "They're the right type of ones, right? Mentally, pros do it the right way. Ameer Abdullah is one of the first guys in our building every single day. The way that he prepares his body, the way that he prepares for practice. Jahlani, the way that he goes about his business. He's a great teammate. Everybody loves him. He does all the little things the right way, will help us on special teams as well."

On defense, I'm watching to see how Vince Kehres has his defense attack the running game of his opponent. Can the Syracuse front seven get into the backfield and force the Wildcats into obvious passing situations?

We were eager for Liverpool to sign a defensive midfielder this summer. That didn't happen, unfortunately, and now the middle of the pitch remains an incredible opportunity for opposing teams.
That's certainly the feeling coming out of the opening two games. Both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest were able to counter almost at will through the middle. Liverpool simply didn't address it as a problem.

A subtle smile played across Vincent Kompany's face as the final whistle blew at Bremer Brücke late on Wednesday evening. A shot that thundered into the top corner sent the stadium into a frenzy, and briefly gave the underdogs hope that they could perhaps cause an upset. But the Munich side remained calm and didn't let that moment unsettle them.
"It flew right into the top corner – congratulations to Robin Meißner on that goal," said Jonas Urbig after the game. The FCB goalkeeper had been given a vote of confidence by coach Kompany and immediately found himself in for a cup night that demanded more than just taking care of business. "The first goal was a stunner. You know, of course, that it can be tricky here, and then a goal like that goes in within the first ten minutes. It was absolutely incredible. But we kept our cool, played a solid second half and are ultimately very happy," concluded Kompany.

The defining game for the Vandals this year was supposed to be the home clash against defending Football Championship Subdivision Montana State Oct 2. But now the Vandals are already in damage control mode, needing to make a good showing against Football Bowl Subdivision Utah on Thursday to convince themselves, more than anyone, that they are a good team, better than their 4-8 record last year and their season-opening stumble, and still harboring hopes of making the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. This is all on Idaho. Utah has nothing to prove other than it can handle an FCS team.
Here are three things to watch when the Vandals and Utes collide.

Jürgen Klopp paid a visit to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, with photos posted by the Bundesliga club showing the new Germany coach in conversation with several members of the squad, including shooting star Younes Ebnoutalib.
According to Sky Sport, Klopp and the 22-year-old forward had a lengthy conversation during the visit.
Klopp is reportedly impressed by Ebnoutalib's qualities and wants to convince the striker to represent Germany. Born in Frankfurt to a German mother and Moroccan father, Ebnoutalib is eligible to play for the DFB. He was previously called up to Morocco's U15 national team, but has yet to represent the country at senior level.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has heard the theories that the squad could use a "goalkeeper by competition" strategy, but the boss does not want anyone to think that will be the case for his team during the 2026/27 season.
Against VfL Osnabrück on Wednesday, Kompany will start Jonas Urbig.
"I dismiss the idea of having a dedicated cup or Champions League goalkeeper. We're looking at the fixture list; it's about seeing what's best – also for Manuel Neuer and giving Jonas a chance to shine. I did that once in my first year as head coach, and it was a mistake," said Kompany (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "Jonas Urbig will start in goal tomorrow. "It actually is difficult sometimes to convince fashion houses or designers that wearing the look will actually be a moment," Madix said in the Aug. 27 interview. Dolly Parton's sister has shared an emotional tribute in the wake of her death.
Freida Parton took to social media to express her grief over the passing of her "Dolly Momma".
"Thank you all for bearing with me as I mourn the death of my big sister," Frieda, 69, posted to Facebook on Saturday, before going on to explain that Dolly, 11 years her senior, had been a mother figure to her.
"I know to the entire world, she was a superstar, but to me, she was my Dolly Momma," Freida wrote. "She was the sister who would climb into bed with me when I was little because we were both afraid of the dark. She was the woman who stepped up and became my Momma, raising me from ages 13 to 18."
She added Dolly, famous for her love of wigs and hairpieces, had attempted, unsuccessfully, to persuade her to follow the same route, writing, "She was the one who tried to convince me to wear her wigs at my shows in Dollywood (sorry, sister, but I definitely didn't listen to you on that one)."
Freida was candid about the sisterly fights she and Dolly had shared.
