The Flying Biscuit Café has signed a franchise agreement with franchisee Keisha Carter to bring the Atlanta-born all-day breakfast and brunch brand to McDonough, Ga., and the surrounding Henry County market. The site and opening date will be announced separately.
Henry County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Georgia. Its population rose from 203,922 residents in 2010 to 240,712 in the 2020 census, and the U.S. Census Bureau estimated it at 264,922 in 2025. McDonough, the county seat and its largest city, sits along Interstate 75 about 30 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. Carter, who lives in the market, said growth there has outpaced the area's sit-down breakfast and brunch options — the gap that drew her to it.
Carter brings nearly 10 years of experience in sales, business development, operations, client relations and team leadership, including roles at several Fortune 500 companies before moving into entrepreneurship. She holds an MBA in finance management and is a Six Sigma Black Belt, and currently leads a metro Atlanta real estate group where she oversees business operations, marketing, sales strategy, team development and client experience. She and her family have been Flying Biscuit regulars for years, and often talked about the south metro needing a location closer to home.
Carter will partner with Eric Gladmon, who will serve as the venture's main operating partner. Gladmon owns and operates an Atlanta salon that has been in business for more than 30 years, and brings that ownership and operations experience to the group.

Italy's Eni has signed a 25-year contract with Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA that makes the Italian energy major the exclusive operator of the giant Junín-5 heavy-oil field in the Orinoco Belt.
The agreement gives Eni responsibility for the technical, financial and commercial management of Junín-5, which contains an estimated 35 billion barrels of certified oil in place but currently produces just 12,000 barrels per day.
The deal marks a significant change from the previous Petrojunín joint-venture structure, under which PDVSA held 60% and Eni 40%. Venezuela's recently reformed hydrocarbons law allows foreign and domestic companies greater autonomy to operate fields, market production and receive proceeds from oil sales.
The signing took place during U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright's visit to Caracas and comes amid a broader revival of foreign investment in Venezuela's oil industry. Chevron separately announced plans to invest $7 billion over five years and more than double its Venezuelan production to 600,000 bpd by 2031.
Eni has major ambitions for Junín-5. The company originally envisioned developing the field to 240,000 bpd, although that target—initially planned for 2018—was never achieved. The Financial Times reported Wednesday that Eni plans to invest around $1.5 billion annually as it ramps up the project.

Chevron will invest more than $7 billion in Venezuela over the next five years and more than double its oil production in the country to about 600,000 barrels per day, Reuters reported Wednesday.
The investment follows new agreements with Venezuela that give Chevron improved fiscal, commercial and legal terms and additional acreage in the Orinoco Belt. Chevron said its three Venezuelan joint ventures will invest the money through 2031, with total production costs remaining below $20 per barrel.
Chevron currently produces about 290,000 bpd in Venezuela, all of which is exported to the United States, according to Reuters. Venezuela is producing about 1.1 million to 1.2 million bpd, down from more than 3 million bpd in the late 1990s.

With both the NFL and college football seasons about to begin in earnest, it's a great time to check in with the top prospects headed into the 2027 NFL Draft.
This is my first crack at this year's big board, ranked 1-30, including two receivers slotted ahead of the quarterback with a very famous last name.
Smith might not be the first pick, but he could be one of the best non-QB prospects to enter the draft in a few years. With ideal height-weight-speed benchmarks and outstanding feel for the game, Smith is as polished and gifted a receiver as you'll see come out of the college game. It has been a minute since a receiver was this well-regarded prior to turning 21 years old (which Smith does in November). He reminds me of Andre Johnson coming out of Miami. The sky is the limit.
Moore is nearly an elite athlete with great production to match. In 26 college games, he's recorded seven interceptions (one run back for a TD) and 18 passes defended. There are very few lockdown man-to-man corners in college, but the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Moore is one of them. The Irish are willing to glue Moore to opponents' best receivers and let him go to work. He's a willing tackler, but Moore could take another step by improving his consistency there and getting a bit stronger. Other than that, there's little not to like or even love about his game.
This might appear a tad ambitious of a ranking after a semi-frustrating season at Auburn, but most of Coleman's issues were QB-related there. That shouldn't be an issue in Austin. Lining up opposite Ryan Wingo, with Arch Manning throwing Coleman passes, appears to be a dream setup. He's authored some jaw-dropping catches in summer practices and could be in line for a monster season, ******* uming he can refine his route-running and cut down on the concentration drops. At 6-3 and 205 pounds, Coleman has a built-in-a-lab frame. He's an aerial acrobat and looks like a future top-10 pick, with just a shade more consistency.

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered Google to retool the system powering its monopoly in digital advertising, sparing the company from a wrenching breakup sought by the U.S. government.
The initial two-page decision by U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Virginia marks the second time in a year that Google has received a reprieve from a Justice Department proposal to dismantle its internet empire. Meanwhile, what courts have described as the company's anti-competitive practices have enriched Google's corporate parent, Alphabet Inc., which has a market value of $4.11 trillion.
The judge's full opinion, which includes the specific remedies, will remain under seal for 14 days to allow the parties to review it and propose any necessary redactions.
"We're very pleased the Court rejected the DOJ's proposal to break apart tools that help small businesses reach new customers and grow," said Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google's vice president for regulatory affairs.
After a judge declared Google's ubiquitous search engine as an illegal monopoly in 2024, the Justice Department pushed for a penalty that would have required the company to sell its popular Chrome web browser. But it was rebuffed last September by another federal judge overseeing that case.

The Dallas-based real estate investment firm has a $3.25B target for Crow Holdings Realty Partners XI LP, the 11th fund in its series, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing last week.

After 21 years at Utah, Kyle Whittingham moved to Michigan to make way for Scalley, the previous defensive coordinator who coached Utah's win over Nebraska last season in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Jennifer explained that she wanted to undergo a buccal fat removal procedure, which occurs when the fat pads from the lower cheeks are removed from the face to make it appear slimmer. "I would love to have a buccal fat removal. I can't because everybody would know, but just know that I want that," she said.

A week after Dolly Parton died following a brief battle with cancer, the Friends actress shared the incomparable advice she received from the "dear friend of all of ours," who she worked with on the 2018 movie Dumplin'.
"One of her many, many, many, many incredible quotes, and they're endless," Jennifer said during an event at the 92nd Street Y in New York City Sept. 2, according to Us Weekly, "she would say, 'I chased a few rainbows and I caught some.'"
So, the 57-year-old repeated the advice, telling the audience, "Go chase your dreams and go catch some rainbows. You'll catch a few. [Dolly] did that, for sure."

TD's aim to open 100 U.S. branches by 2028 is "a today strategy," not simply a revival of branch expansion plans shared in 2023, U.S. executive Allison Robinson said Wednesday.
The Canadian bank said last week it intends to open 100 branches in the U.S. by the end of 2028, as it purses organic growth. The lender also plans to hire more retail and commercial bankers, U.S. CEO Leo Salom said during the bank's fiscal third-quarter earnings call Aug. 27.
In May 2023, Toronto-based TD shared plans to open 150 U.S. branches by 2027, with a focus on the Southeast – just a few weeks after its proposed $13.4 billion acquisition of Memphis, Tennessee-based First Horizon was terminated. At the time, TD circled south Florida, Atlanta and North Carolina as targeted areas for branch expansion.
But as the bank tackled anti-money laundering issues and was hit with a related $3.09 billion penalty and $434 billion ******* et cap on U.S. retail operations, those branch opening plans slowed "dramatically," then-CEO Bharat Masrani acknowledged in 2024. TD has also closed about 91 branches over the past two years, Salom said last week.

Lottomatica has agreed to absorb Spanish rival Cirsa in an all-share deal that will create the world's second-largest listed gaming and sports-betting operator.
The transaction values Cirsa at about €2.8 billion, or roughly $3.2 billion. Cirsa shareholders will receive 0.668 newly issued Lottomatica shares for each Cirsa share they own. When the deal closes, current Lottomatica shareholders will own about 67.5% of the combined company, while Cirsa shareholders will hold around 32.5%.
Blackstone is staying firmly at the table. The private equity group, which controls Cirsa through LHMC Midco, is expected to own about 24% of the enlarged company, making it the biggest individual shareholder. It will also have the right to appoint two directors to a 13-member board.

More than half a decade after the pandemic fundamentally changed how consumers interact with restaurants, delivery has moved well beyond the "turn it on" phase for full-service operators. The focus now is less on adding a sales channel than on optimizing one that touches the kitchen, labor model, guest relationship, and broader tech stack.
"We look at it a little differently nowadays," says Jason Saposnik, VP of information technology for FSC Franchise Co., the parent company of Beef 'O' Brady's, The Brass Tap, and Newk's Eatery. "Early on, the focus was more about just growing delivery sales. Now, we're a lot more focused on whether those sales are profitable, how the restaurants can handle that increased volume, and whether customers are actually getting the same great experience."
The first major improvement in delivery operations was straightforward: getting orders into the restaurant without forcing employees to act as the integration layer.
Saposnik recalls an earlier "tablet ******* " environment in which teams monitored separate devices for DoorDash, Uber Eats, and other channels, then manually entered orders into the POS. "That created all sorts of issues for missed orders and mistakes and delays," he says. "Now, everything just flows into the POS and into the kitchen correctly."

The transaction, aided by $155 million in financing led by growth equity firm FTV Capital, would give TabaPay a banking charter through the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency but also requires approval from the Federal Reserve.

The Sooners are expected to add former Boise State defensive tackle Braxton Fely, The Oklahoman confirmed Thursday.
Fely was granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA on Thursday in Cleveland County District Court, clearing him to compete until a future hearing on a permanent injunction is scheduled.
The order blocks the NCAA from enforcing any bylaw to keep him off the field, and separately bars the "Rule of Restitution," shielding OU from potential penalties for playing him.

Virginia Tech hoops head coach Mike Young will have at least one more season to try to right the ship. Young was entering the final year of his contract this season, but he signed a one-year extension at the end of July. Young was one of several Hokies head coaches extended along with women's basketball head coach Megan Duffy, swim and dive coach Sergio Lopez Miro, men's soccer head coach Mike Brizendine and softball head coach Pete D'Amour.

The USC Trojans got a lot of great news from their second official depth chart release of the season. Many stars will be returning and potentially making their season debut. The Trojans' defense and offense should get a big boost with key players coming back. Many freshmen will still be in position to have another big game against Fresno State.
Here is what we learned about the Trojans' depth chart release prior to Game 2:
Tanook Hines was the first receiver listed on the depth chart, and that bodes well for his availability for Game 2. Tanook Hines already has a great connection with Jayden Maiava, and I expect that to show up vs Fresno State. I would not be surprised if Lincoln Riley and Maiava look to him early and often in this game to ramp him up. The Trojans' offense will have some fireworks with Hines' season debut.
Sophomore Corey Sims showed great flashes of being a big weapon for Jayden Maiava in Game 1. He was amazing all camp and offseason, and in Game 1 everything came to fruition for him. In each of the past two seasons, Kayshon Boutte ranked second in receiving yards among Patriots wideouts and first or tied for first in receiving touchdowns. His reward? A trade to Houston.
The Patriots traded for A.J. Brown in the offseason, signed free agent Romeo Doubs and brought back DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams and Mack Hollins. That left Boutte as the odd receiver out, and Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said in explaining the trade that Boutte "probably would have been inactive" on game days if he had remained in New England.

Three attacks involving an animal that "displayed unusually aggressive behavior toward people," which can be ******* ociated with rabies, have been reported in New Hampshire, according to authorities. However, officials have yet to determine exactly what type of animal is ambushing the unsuspecting humans.
From Aug. 30-31, police received three reports of animal attacks in the same area of Lebanon, about 122 miles northwest of Boston, according to news releases from the Lebanon Police Department. The attacks seem to be unprovoked, and police believe the same animal is responsible.
Video shows the moment one person was attacked by the unknown animal. The wild animal is shown running from what appears to be a wooded area as the victim walks around a moving truck. The animal then goes after the person's legs in an unprovoked attack. It attacks the victim multiple times. The victim is seen flinging the animal away from them after it attacks their legs again, and then the animal returns to the wooded area.
The animal responsible for the attacks has not been identified, but witnesses say they believe the animal is either a gray fox or a fisher, a nocturnal mammal in the weasel family, according to Defenders of Wildlife. It is an elusive animal that lives in forests throughout the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest and the Great Lakes states.
It "reportedly displayed unusually aggressive behavior toward people," police said. Most would probably agree with this next sentiment. The Baltimore Ravens can state whatever they want publicly. Everyone knows they didn't simply bring in Jake Moody to take a look at another leg.
Executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta spoke with media members on Wednesday for the first time since Baltimore introduced its initial 53-man roster. As expected, everything was on the table for discussion. He mentioned the inquiries the organization received about Joe ****** nano's services. The conversation shifted to a possible Lamar Jackson extension, which the GM said he'd like to have done by March.
He also addressed another elephant in the room, the added kicker. Except this time, the answer sounded less diplomatic and closer to what most Ravens would probably say had they been given the microphone.
Per Baltimore's GM, the goal was to indeed create competition at kicker as the regular season approaches. While the Ravens have publicly supported Tyler Loop throughout the summer, as they should, DeCosta made it clear the organization felt compelled to explore another option.
"We have got to make kicks. [This] gives us a fresh set of legs to look at, evaluate, compare, [and] see how it all works out. In the end, it is a performance business, right? It starts with me. We have got to do our job."

But looking at next offseason, the Cowboys will either have to sign him to a long-term deal or franchise tag him for a massive $32 million-plus one-year contract.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell doesn't believe the Cowboys will have interest in such a lofty one-year deal. If so, Pickens has a massive opportunity in 2026 to have another big season and hit free agency to land a massive new deal.
"The Cowboys spent heavily to fix their defense this offseason, and they might not be interested in a second franchise tag for Pickens in 2027, which would cost more than $32 million," Barnwell writes. "Hitting unrestricted free agency as a 26-year-old wide receiver could be a massive opportunity for Pickens, who would potentially be the best player available."

INDIANAPOLIS — Ball State's new starting quarterback, 5-10, 250-pound Keldric ****** er, has gained national attention for his size, but on Tuesday, online betting platform Polymarket posted what the football program says was a photoshopped image of ****** er, which majorly bloated his appearance.
The fake photo of ****** er on X resulted in backlash with people calling out Polymarket for the deception. Polymarket has since deleted the post. IndyStar reached out to the company, which describes itself as "the world's largest prediction market platform for real-time global events," but did not receive a response.

The punishment the NBA handed down to the Los Angeles Clippers for circumventing the league salary cap through no-show sponsorship deals signed by Kawhi Leonard is unprecedented in American professional sports.
The Clippers were stripped of five future first-round NBA Draft picks, received one-year suspensions for owner Steve Ballmer and president of business operations Gillian Zucker, and a six-month suspension for president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank. In addition, the Clippers and Ballmer were fined $30 million.
While the draft-pick penalty mirrors the initial penalty for the Minnesota Timberwolves when they developed a scheme to sign Joe Smith in 2000, two of those picks were eventually restored. And the $3.5 million fine is no comparison, even with inflation, to the monetary penalty for the Clippers.
But for David Samson, it still wasn't enough.
Appearing on The Dan Le Batard Show, the former Miami Marlins executive said the severity of the salary cap circumvention called for even harsher punishment, perhaps up to and including firing the executives in question and forcing Ballmer to sell the team.
