Aspinall relinquished his championship after suffering yet another setback in his ongoing recovery from the eye injuries he sustained against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 last October. The move clears the way for the UFC heavyweight division to resume it's usual activity; Gane defeated Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250 in June to claim an interim ******* le, and will likely be formally upgraded to undisputed heavyweight champion in short order.
And Hokit wants the first crack.
"The fans deserve Me vs Gane. I'll give Ciryl what he has coming. If Alex can win 1 fight in my weight class, I'll give it to him too, early '27. I'll be the most active champ in the company."
Pereira has continued to campaign for an immediate rematch with Gane in the months since UFC Freedom 250, accusing the Frenchmen of using illegal strikes to the back of the head to defeat him in their battle on the White House's South Lawn. Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development Corp (NASDAQ: $DFDV) has increased its Solana (CRYPTO: $SOL) treasury by 55,491 SOL, bringing its total holdings to about 2.39 million SOL and SOL equivalents.
The company said Monday that its treasury has grown roughly 2% since August 27 as it resumed regular Solana purchases and continued generating yield from its holdings. DeFi Development Corp is now the second-largest public-company holder of Solana after Forward Industries.

The 59-year-old actor brought 15-year-old Faith Margaret to the U.S. Open in New York on Sept. 11, with the mother and daughter arriving at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hand in hand before watching the men's semifinals.
Faith has generally maintained a lower public profile than her older sister Sunday Rose, who has already built a modeling résumé. That made the relaxed outing particularly noticeable as Faith walked beside her mother in a polka-dot maxi dress while Kidman traded her recent premiere gowns for jeans, sneakers and a pale blue shirt.

DUBAI, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways said on Monday that its passenger-carrying capacity is running above year-earlier levels as Gulf carriers rebound from disruption caused by the Iran war, with strong demand expected heading into the winter travel season, its chief executive told Reuters.
"We are back on track," CEO Antonoaldo Neves said in an interview, noting that current Available Seat Kilometres - the industry's standard measure of passenger-carrying capacity - was currently 15 to 17% higher than a year ago.
"Flights are full, full, full," he said, adding that load factor, which measures how well an airline is filling available seats, was at 92% in August while the airline is targeting an 87% plus load factor for the remainder of the year.
The Iran war affected travel earlier this year, pushing fuel prices higher and disrupting flights in the Middle East and beyond. Middle Eastern carriers, some of the world's biggest, have seen their networks upended by the conflict, but have gradually resumed their activity.

Wide receiver Malachi Coleman and linebacker Mason Posa both exited the Badgers' 36-9 win over Western Illinois with injuries. Posa could have returned if necessary, coach Luke Fickell said afterward, but Coleman could not.
Quarterback Colton Joseph, meanwhile, was "a little dinged up from last weekend," Fickell said in his postgame press conference. Fickell similarly said that running back Abu Sama III may have gotten "a little bit of a ding on the shoulder."
Those are in addition to first-team offensive lineman Emerson Mandell's continued absence as he recovers from an injury that he suffered in fall camp.

Each Sunday, I'll publish my biggest takeaways from the college football weekend. I'll highlight the most interesting storylines, track College Football Playoff contenders and specifically shout out individual and team performances that deserve the spotlight.

Well, that was fun until it wasn't.
Ohio State was up and in control of what would have been a massive win for its College Football Playoff résumé, but then the game plan turned into a grinding of gears instead of the team popping the clutch and continuing to go out on the open road and run away into the night.
The result? The Texas Longhorns scored 21 unanswered points to enjoy what they will no doubt consider an epic comeback. Buckeye fans will think the opposite, and for good reason. A game profile that should never go in the loss column did just that because of some curious decisions and gameplay in the second half.

Jai Opetaia defended his ****** les with a nasty ninth round standing knockout over Noel Mikaelyan but the bigger moment may have come just a few minutes later when he stared down David Benavidez in hopes of setting up a showdown between them next year.
As the top cruiserweight in the sport, it was no surprise tha Opetaia got the job done on Saturday as he chipped away at Mikaelyan until he finally got the finish. But then Opetaia invited Benavidez into the ring and the two fighters showed nothing but respect and agreed it's time for them to meet in the ring for real.
"He's done a lot for the sport," Opetaia said about Benavidez. "What better fight to make. Let's get it on."

COLUMBIA — The South Carolina football game against Towson has been stopped and delayed due to weather.
The Gamecocks (1-0) are hosting Towson (0-2) on Sept. 12 in Williams-Brice Stadium but lighting struck around 9:05 p.m. ET, pausing the game for the time being.
The score is currently 24-3 with 12:07 left in the third quarter.
Per program policy, "Should a lightning strike occur within 8 miles of the stadium, play will be stopped immediately. Play will resume 30 minutes after the last strike occurs within the 8-mile threat radius."
According to The Weather Channel, storms are suppose to continue until roughly 10:15 ET as of now.

As continuous inflation squeezes household budgets, the discount retail sector should potentially benefit across the board, with middle- and lower-income consumers looking for value driving foot traffic into value chains. That's roughly what happened in the second-quarter reports from Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:DG) and Dollar Tree, Inc. (NASDAQ:DLTR), both of which were released in late August. Both retailers outperformed expectations, though only one company's stock was rewarded for this.
Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:DG) reported second-quarter results on August 27 that exceeded expectations, and shares rose more than 6.5% in premarket trading. Net sales increased 5.2% to $11.29 billion, surpassing the $11.2 billion market forecast, while diluted EPS came in at $2.48, up 33.3% year-over-year and well above the $2.01 ******* ysts projected. Friday night's highly anticipated out-of-district contest between Steele and Austin Lake Travis at Lehnhoff Stadium was canceled in the third quarter due to weather. The two teams were tied at 28-28 with 04:42 remaining in the third quarter when the game entered a lightning delay.
The lightning delay began around 9 p.m. and the game was officially called around 40 minutes later due to the inclement weather. UIL guidelines say that activities must be suspended when lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius of the event venue. Activities may not resume until lightning is no longer within the 10-mile radius and 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike.
The 28-28 score will likely be counted as a tie toward Steele and Lake Travis' records, but it will not have playoff implications since it is from an out-of-district contest. Per UIL rules, any out-of-district varsity football games that have gone past halftime are considered to be official contests.
"If both teams have made a good faith effort to complete the game and have not been able to finish the game or mutually agree to end the game at the point of suspension, the game shall be declared final with the score at the time of suspension," the UIL website reads.
While suspended games could be restarted at a later time, the UIL does not allow games to be played past Saturday. Lake Travis is also roughly 70 miles away from San Antonio. Steele head coach David Saenz estimated that the game could have resumed around 11 p.m., around two hours after the contest was paused.

Cris Collinsworth, Tomlin's new co-worker at NBC, recently asked him if there was a chance he would return to coaching at some point. Tomlin sounded like someone who still wanted to coach, but he also isn't in a hurry.

"It's certainly not a 32 team league for me," said Tomlin. "But I've also learned to never say never. I love to coach. I love all the challenges of the profession. I love the being part of growth and development of young people individually. I love the measurement of the seven day cycle, but also have enjoyed the last six months. Life on this other side that I had no idea about."

Napoli have said Scott McTominay's heart surgery "was a complete success" and expect the Scotland midfielder to resume training this month.
The 29-year-old's ablation procedure - a minimally invasive operation to correct irregular heart rhythms - took place at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning.
McTominay was substituted after 56 minutes of Napoli's 2-1 Serie A defeat by Como on 30 August.
A mild benign arrhythmia was discovered, prompting the corrective treatment.
Napoli, who said in statement that "McTominay will rest for two weeks and then resume training", had expected the former Manchester United player to return to action after the international break in early October.

Timely enough off the heels of the Labor Day holiday yesterday, the NHL's new collective bargaining agreement, the labor rules agreed to by the NHL and the NHLPA, kicks in next week. The new agreement is in place through September 2030, marking the second time in a row the two sides have put a deal in place without missing any time. That's no small matter, prior to the recent labor peace the NHL owners have locked out the players in 2004 and 2012 for significant periods that cost a total of 116 games.
These days, fortunately for all, there is more cooperation and perhaps about the best working relationship between the owners and players that we have seen in hockey. Those good feelings are no doubt influenced by business as a whole booming – revenue is way up so their is more money to be made by both sides. Further, ownership is absolutely swimming in vastly increased valuation and sale prices lately – look no further than the Penguins selling for $1.75 billion in 2026 after selling for $900 million just five years earlier.
The new CBA had some rules come on board early for last season – like LTIR tweaks and the playoff salary cap. Here are a few more interesting tweaks in place.
Training camps open Sept. 16 to coincide with the start of that new labor deal, and they'll look much different than they did in the past. Experienced players will be put through only a 13-day camp, down from 20 days, and those with at least 100 NHL games on their resumes are now limited to two exhibition games. Each team will play only four exhibition games.
The preseason shrinks again, at least formally. Most players across the league are already skating informally with their teammates and have been for a week or more by this point. That amount of time in the pre-practice stage will now be longer than the formal, official 13-day training camp. Long gone are the days of multiple on-ice sessions per day. In fact, teams can also no longer implement fitness testing for unpopular tests on the exercise bike or the so-called dreaded bag skate or repetitive timed sprints.
