A trail spotlighting some of western Europe’s oldest rocks has been proposed at a village in the Scottish Highlands.
Geology enthusiasts and keen hikers would be able to access a new walking route in Wester Ross, in the North West Highlands, if the council approves the plan.
The coastal town of Gairloch is well known for its rugged oceanfront and diverse natural landscape.
It features on Scotland’s most famous road trip route, the North Coast 500, with drivers often stopping for walks on its sandy beaches or for a spot of stargazing.
Hoping to showcase its important rock formations, Gairlo

Experts puzzled after 'incredibly rare' creature washes up on beach: 'Something we clearly hadn't seen before'
Pieces of a seldom-seen creature from the North Sea's twilight zone have been found on a beach near Aberdeenshire, Scotland, according to the BBC.
The discovery spotlights that our understanding of the seas' depths and the creatures in it remains murky.
The sucker-laden remains belong to a blob-like, seven-armed octopus that lives at depths of up to 3,900 feet. Females can be large, weighing 165 pounds, but males are much smaller, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute repo

More than 300 earthquakes have been recorded in Britain this year, according to the latest data.
Among the most active regions were Perthshire and the western Highlands in Scotland, southern parts of Wales, and Yorkshire and Lancashire in England, the British Geological Survey (BGS) data show.
The two largest onshore earthquakes happened hours apart on Oct 20 near Loch Lyon in Perth and Kinross, when a 3.7-magnitude tremor was followed soon after by one of magnitude 3.6.
One local resident described it as feeling “like an underground subway under my house”, while another said “the house sho

Good Morning or Goodnight and sleep well, have a good Saturday, take care, be safe.
Busy today, not golf, poor weather, post when I can.
