CHICAGO — The historic women's college volleyball match at Wrigley Field between Missouri and Nebraska was delayed early in the first set due to excessive moisture on the court.
After workers spent several minutes using mops on the court laid down on the Chicago Cubs' field, players from both teams got on their hands and knees with towels to try and dry the playing surface. Several Nebraska players took a break for a brief dance party when the P.A. started playing Justin Bieber's "Baby" before resuming their efforts to get the court playable. At least two people with leaf blowers eventually came out to help with the efforts.
The match resumed after about 20 minutes.
The Tigers and Cornhuskers, along with Penn State and Kentucky, played at Wrigley on Sunday, Sept. 6, as part of the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge. It's the first time the iconic baseball stadium has hosted the sport.
Penn State and Kentucky played the first match, and players from both teams said the court got increasingly slick as the night wore on.

"I was definitely looking forward to that," Bieber said Tuesday. "But it will happen. I trust it will happen at the right time."
Bieber, who won the AL Cy Young while pitching for Cleveland in 2020, made his first trip back to face the Guardians since the club traded him to Toronto last season. The 31-year-old said it felt "odd" walking up the steps into the visitor's dugout and he was certain that watching the game from the other side would be different.
But Bieber, who's currently on the injured list with an elbow issue, was savoring the chance to catch up with former teammates, coaches and others. He spent nearly an hour on the field holding court behind the batting cage, sharing hugs, laughs and long embraces with friends he considers family.

Rhode, the skincare and makeup brand founded by Hailey Bieber, was bought by e.l.f. for $1 billion a year ago. It contributed about $160 million of the $479.4 million in sales the company posted last quarter, helping total sales climb 36% and beat Wall Street's expectation of $431.2 million. By contrast, the core e.l.f. Brand actually declined.
Ulta Beauty, Inc. (NASDAQ:ULTA) told a very different story earlier this summer: its fiscal first-quarter sales climbed 11% to $3.16 billion as wealthier shoppers traded up to prestige brands.
Both retailers just beat expectations, but e.l.f. Beauty, Inc. (NYSE:ELF)'s growth is now riding almost entirely on one celebrity-founded brand while its own namesake line shrinks. Ulta's is coming from affluent shoppers splurging on prestige names.
That leaves a real question: is e.l.f.'s Rhode-powered growth a sign of real momentum, or a company becoming dangerously dependent on a single brand?
Rhode's appeal goes well beyond its Gen Z fanbase. CFO Mandy Fields said "everybody looks at her and aspires to do what she's doing," adding that women in their 40s are lining up for Rhode products too, a sign the brand isn't confined to one age group. Rhode's narrow, curated approach, going deep on a handful of categories like blushes, lips, and bronzer rather than chasing one viral hit, has driven strength broadly across its lineup. e.l.f. Beauty, Inc. (NYSE:ELF) also raised full-year guidance meaningfully: adjusted EPS to $3.50-$3.55 from $3.27-$3.32 and sales to $1.94 billion-$1.97 billion from $1.84 billion-$1.87 billion, both ahead of Wall Street's prior estimates. Management said trends for the core e.l.f. brand have already started improving, and it expects growth across every brand for the rest of the year. Profit also got a boost because Rhode outperformed the earnout targets set in the acquisition deal, prompting e.l.f. to record a $16.1 million fair value adjustment.

Hailey Bieber's older sister, Alaia Baldwin Aronow, has entered a pretrial diversion program that can keep her out of jail in the misdemeanor case arising from a 2024 confrontation at a Savannah, Georgia, nightclub.
Prosecutors offered the 33-year-old a place in the program, and she accepted the offer and paid its fee, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. Court records reviewed by PEOPLE say Aronow must complete classes and may be required to pay fines as part of the arrangement.
The case involves four misdemeanor charges filed in Chatham County on Jan. 26 simple battery, simple ***** ault, battery and criminal trespass. The counts stem from Aronow's Feb. 24, 2024, arrest following an altercation with employees at Club Elan.
A police report accused Aronow of pulling a security worker's hair, striking another guard in the genitals and throwing a tampon at a bartender. Aronow told responding officers she had been forcefully removed from the club and maintained that her actions toward the security workers were in self-defense.
