The circus surrounding the moving of this game to a 12:30 p.m. start time on a Thursday was bad enough, but I'm not sure we talked enough about the circus going on inside the building in order to pull this off.
Game 6, won by the Dream 80-69, was a major-league event with a minor league schedule.
Saturday's Game 4 gave us a preview. That game began at 1 p.m. and all working media and staff were required to leave the building by 4:30 p.m. to accommodate the Hawks-Rockets game taking place immediately afterward. Generally, if you're a burgeoning league trying to increase awareness and interest, it's not a great idea to shoo all your media partners out the door right as they're trying to tell the world all about your product. Logistically, it worked out, barely, as writers scattered off to ****** orted hotels and coffee bars to finish their stories, and happy fans had at least a few minutes to whoop and holler before exiting into a glorious 70-degree day … but imagine if it had gone to overtime?

Hey gang! It's your ol' pal Jay. I woke up in a cold sweat after a nightmare about a failed audition from like 20 years ago, so I decided to spread that anxiety 'round the world! See, back in them days, you couldn't just send a self-tape all willy nilly. You had to physically bike on down to some building in a shady part of town, wipe the sweat from your brow, and perform for a little panel of directors and producers.
I don't want to brag, but I got a callback for a Taco Bell commercial. The director asked me to deliver this one line in different ways but still convey that this imaginary burrito was yummy. After a few runs of not getting it right, he seemed to be getting a little perturbed. I rifled off a couple more nervous ones until he stopped me and said, "No. You have to pretend that you're thoroughly enjoying the food. You know… Like an actor."
The room went silent as I shrunk to microscopic proportions. I didn't get the part obviously, but I had a good run back then! Booked some commercials for KFC, Pepsi, Nabob Coffee, and Tetley Tea, so… Ya. I haven't acted in a long time, but don't worry. I still take harsh criticisms on an almost daily basis! A TikTok posted by marktilbury on July 29, 2026, shows him questioning tipping at several stops, including a hotel. The video drew about 4.2 million views and about 315,200 likes at the time of publication.
An unseen narrator records the creator at each stop. At a fast-food restaurant, the narrator can be heard asking, "Wait, aren't you gonna leave a tip?" "What for? I've served myself," the TikToker answered. He then says the payment kiosk prompted him to tip 15 percent.

Billy Ray Cyrus' ex-wife, Firerose, has opened up about their troubled marriage. The 37-year-old, who married Billy in 2023 before their marriage ended less than a year later, alleged that the country singer completely cut her off from her loved ones.
In an interview with Page Six, Firerose alleged that the 65-year-old singer kept her in a "farm prison" in Tennessee. She alleged that he "physically, strategically, and emotionally completely isolated [me] from everyone who cared about me."
She explained, "It's such a mind warp while you're going through it … everything that you've survived is then being put on you. It's classic narcissistic abuse." Adding, "I call it farm prison because that's what it was for me. I was for years not allowed to freely come and go from my own home."
A few years ago, Firerose said she was afraid to talk during her marriage and even needed Billy's permission to send text messages. She said, "There were all these rules that I had to follow. It [happened] gradually … this is what your life is going to be. I didn't have a car, and I wasn't allowed to just meet friends for coffee, just basic things, go to church, or record music, solo music."
When asked about the relationship, Cyrus' ex-wife reflected on being 22 when she met the singer, who was more than twice her age. She alleged that he began grooming her and emphasized that she could only speak from her own experience. Firerose and Billy first met in 2007 on the set of Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. NEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - McDonald's is increasingly using artificial intelligence to guide menu prices across the U.S. and some global markets, a plan that aims to boost headquarters' profit but risks alienating customers and attracting antitrust scrutiny.
One pricing factor supercharged by AI: an estimate of how much each store's patrons are willing to pay.
The details of how that pricing system works, its extensive use of AI, the company's regulatory concerns and the tensions with its franchisees haven't been previously reported. For this story, Reuters reviewed screenshots of the company pricing engine taken in August and interviewed nine sources with first-hand knowledge of the burger chain's strategy.
McDonald's pricing ‌engine uses machine-learning algorithms to continually ****** yze data from millions of daily transactions across McDonald's nearly 14,000 restaurants and generate what the company calls "the optimal price" at each location for each menu item, from Big Macs to discounted coffee for seniors.

Niccol, who marks his second anniversary in the role, now faces pressure to convert the sales recovery into the sustainable profit growth investors are demanding.
Niccol's turnaround strategy has already restored customer momentum at Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX). The "Back to Starbucks" strategy reversed six consecutive quarters of declining comparable sales as the company focused on reducing wait times, simplifying menus, improving store ambiance, and increasing staffing. Starbucks has moved beyond the sales deterioration that preceded Niccol's tenure. It gives investors a stronger foundation for the next phase of the turnaround. If management can sustain traffic gains while improving productivity, the sales recovery could provide a path toward stronger earnings growth.
The China joint venture with Boyu Capital gives Starbucks a more capital-efficient way to participate in China's growth. Starbucks sold control of its China retail operations to Boyu. It retained a 40% stake and continues to own and license its brand and intellectual property. The structure reduces Starbucks' direct capital requirements while allowing it to retain economic exposure to the Chinese market. Reuters cited ****** ysts who said the arrangement leaves Starbucks well positioned to convert stronger organic sales growth into profit growth, which could support returns as the recovery progresses.
Starbucks now has an opportunity to turn its customer investments into margin expansion. The firm committed at least $500 million toward labor as part of the restructuring. Niccol prioritized staffing and store improvements to rebuild the customer experience. That spending helped help the sales recovery. But it also pushed global operating margins down to 12.9% from 15.8% over two years. With sales now improving, management can focus more heavily on productivity, cost control, and operating leverage. It creates an opportunity for stronger earnings if it can improve margins without damaging customer traffic.
Labor tensions could undermine Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX)' recovery and keep costs elevated. Starbucks has yet to reach a first contract with its U.S. barista union. The union called for a consumer boycott in August. Negotiations or labor actions could disrupt store operations, increase labor costs, and create reputational pressure just as Starbucks tries to improve profitability. Therefore, investors face a risk that labor issues could offset some of the productivity gains management needs to expand margins.

Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) is betting $1 billion that leather armchairs, rugs, and bookshelves can turn a recovering coffee business into a more profitable one. The company plans to upgrade as many as 9,000 North American stores into warmer, more comfortable **** es designed to bring back customers who stopped treating Starbucks as a place to sit and stay. The strategy arrives as CEO Brian Niccol's turnaround gains traction, but investors still need to see whether higher traffic can translate into stronger margins.

The store upgrades are part of Niccol's broader "Back to Starbucks" strategy, which has already helped reverse a prolonged sales slump. Global comparable-store sales increased 7.9% in the latest quarter, with transactions up 4.2% and average ticket up 3.5%. U.S. comparable sales also rose 7.9%, indicating that the recovery is being driven by more than higher prices.
Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) is spending roughly $150,000 per store on the new uplifts, far below the cost of previous renovations, and the work can generally be completed overnight without closing stores. The company expects about 1,500 upgrades to be finished by the end of September and ultimately wants to reach 8,000 to 9,000 company-operated North American locations.
That matters because Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) has gradually become optimized for transactions rather than lingering. Mobile orders now account for roughly one-third of U.S. transactions, more than twice their share in 2019. The new design is therefore an attempt to restore the "third place" concept without abandoning the convenience that has become central to the business.

A few weeks ago, I used Uber Eats to deliver me a case of bottled water, a dozen Starbucks iced coffee bottles, and a 12-pack of Gatorade Zero.
It cost a little more than going to the store less than two miles from our house, but instead of having to lug those bulky items from the store to my car and then my kitchen, I only had to bring them in from the front door.
That was either a lazy choice or evidence of excellent time management skills, but it's a solid example of how people use the internet. Because while people generally think it's much higher (I've asked the question to thousands of people on various podcasts and live shows over the years), digital sales are still a relatively small percentage of total retail sales.
"E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2026 accounted for 17.1 percent of total sales," United States Census Bureau data showed.
Consumers have shifted some of their purchases online, and they're looking for convenience.
