Bitcoin's most violent rally of its two-year drawdown wasn't powered by fresh bullish bets. It was powered by bears getting crushed, according to a new report from ******* ytics firm Glassnode and crypto exchange Bybit.
Over five days in August, Bitcoin climbed 24.6% even as coin-denominated open interest, a measure of active leverage, fell 12.6%, the report found. That combination is the tell: rather than traders piling into new long positions, the move ran on the forced unwinding of existing shorts.
Roughly 64,000 BTC worth of open interest was closed out, and short positions supplied 89% of every liquidated dollar during the stretch.
The options market told the same story. Puts, the contracts traders buy to protect against a fall, had priced richer than calls for 361 straight days. A single session ended that run, flipping roughly a year of downside positioning as the market scrambled to reprice.
Bybit's own volatility index traveled four times its normal daily range in one session, and the front of the futures curve repriced sharply while longer-dated contracts barely moved, a sign the market read the move as a one-off event rather than a lasting regime change.

During the September 3 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer mentioned Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for its unconventional approach to powering hyperscale data centers in partnership with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX). He said:
How about Microsoft? Look, Mr. Softee is getting religion. They've realized that by giving us more disclosure on Azure, their cloud infrastructure business, we'll find more things to like. They're right. In the end, I come to praise Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, not bury her. They've been very clever getting power for the data centers, pumping it right out of the Permian. They got this deal with Chevron as a partner… 2.67 gigawatts. No one's talking about it. It's the cleanest behind the meter plan for power I have seen yet. People even, and this is not a stretch, I'm not kidding, people even like Copilot.
CFO Amy Hood provided Wall Street with a much clearer look at actual cloud demand by breaking down detailed Azure growth metrics and data center capacity constraints. At the same time, enterprise adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot is moving past initial trials, with major corporations deploying the AI ***** istant across workforce segments.
A major highlight of the company's infrastructure strategy is a twenty-year agreement with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) for a proposed 2.67-gigawatt natural gas power plant in West Texas. Designed to supply dedicated off-grid electricity directly to a hyperscale data center in the Permian Basin, the project bypasses regional grid transmission queues to secure reliable power for continuous AI workloads. Microsoft Corporation's (NASDAQ:MSFT) president of Cloud Operations + Innovation, Noelle Walsh, commented:
Our agreement with Chevron helps ensure we'll have dedicated, large-scale power to support the evolution and reliability of advanced compute. Through this partnership, we're delighted to grow with and become a deeper part of the West Texas community.

Population is the most seductive number in business. It looks like a customer list before anyone has spent a dollar.
For most of the past 15 years, that logic decided where American technology companies planted flags. Find the countries with the most people and the youngest median age, arrive early, and wait for incomes to catch up to the app.
The playbook worked in India. It worked in Brazil. It turned Southeast Asia into a decade-long trench war between well-funded rivals.
Nigeria was supposed to be next in that sequence. It has more people than Russia and ****** an combined, a median age under 20, and in Lagos, a commercial capital where traffic is bad enough that paying for a ride is less of a luxury than a survival tax.
I have watched that thesis get pasted into investor decks for a decade, usually with a map and an arrow. This week it ran into an income statement, and the income statement won.

Bitcoin has bounced back in the past couple of weeks. Since Aug. 19, the world's most valuable digital ******* et has seen its price surge 21% (as of Sept. 1). The bulls have been waiting for some positive momentum, as Bitcoin was trading below $70,000 for about two and a half months.
U.S.-based investors that want exposure to the top cryptocurrency in an accessible, convenient, and regulatory-compliant way can pick between the many different spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). But how do you choose just one from this long list?

I believe the iShares Bitcoin Trust (NASDAQ: IBIT) is the best choice. Here's why.
The first reason this is the leading option is that it's by far the largest spot Bitcoin ETF out there. As of Sept. 1, the iShares Bitcoin Trust had $61.4 billion in net ******* ets. This huge sum puts it significantly ahead of the next biggest ETF, which is the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, which has less than 25% of the net ******* ets compared to its rival. The market is clearly voting, as indicated by where it's directing its capital, that the iShares Bitcoin Trust is the best Bitcoin ETF.

It's a momentous day for Apple (AAPL) as former senior vice president of hardware engineering John Ternus becomes CEO, succeeding Tim Cook after Cook's 15 years in the top spot.
Cook is handing Ternus a "very healthy company," Maxim Group ******* yst Tom Forte told Yahoo Finance, but the road could become more challenging for Ternus and Apple in the coming years. Forte estimated that Wall Street would give Ternus a six- to 12-month grace period to find his footing.
Among Ternus's first tests will be an escalating legal battle between Apple and OpenAI. Apple accused the AI startup of stealing trade secrets as it looks to build a competing AI device for its ChatGPT model. On Monday, Apple also alleged that OpenAI was destroying evidence in the case, Bloomberg reported.
In a separate filing on Monday, OpenAI sought to block Apple's preliminary injunction request to prevent OpenAI from using potential trade secrets, calling the lawsuit "baseless" and an attempt to forestall the AI company from building a device that could unseat the iPhone.

In April 2026, wallets, purses, and other belongings started disappearing out of cars parked around fitness centers across Fairfax County in Alexandria, Virginia, according to The Alexandria Brief (1). In late June, the Alexandria Police Department arrested a man who they say was taking these belongings from unlocked cars and using stolen credit cards to purchase gift cards at nearby retailers before the victims realized their things had been stolen.
While cash and credit cards are the obvious targets in wallet theft, your personal identification may be even more valuable in the wrong hands. Documents often found in your wallet, like your social security card, driver's license, and health insurance card can give thieves access to your identity and finances. If left unchecked, you could be liable for the damage someone else causes in your name.
