The league phase draw for the 2026-27 Champions League takes place at 17:00 BST in Monaco.
A total of 36 teams will take part in the league phase and each team will face eight different teams once, with four home matches and four away matches.
For the draw, the 36 teams will be placed into four pots, with one being the highest-ranked and four being the lowest. The pot placements are based on the clubs' Uefa club coefficient ranking from the five-season period ending at the conclusion of 2025-26.
Each team will face two teams from each of the four pots and cannot face a team from the same country as themselves.
The teams who finish in the top eight will qualify for the last 16. Those between ninth and 24th will enter the play-off knockout round. The 12 teams ranked between 25th and 36th will exit the competition when the league phase is concluded.

Racing Bulls is facing a tough decision at the end of the season as they have three drivers for only two spots in the 2027 driver lineup.
Currently, Liam Lawson and Arvid Linblad occupy the two Racing Bulls seats. Lawson is now a seasoned veteran F1 driver who impressed during his one-race cameo with Red Bull.
Lindblad, on the other hand, is a promising rookie who was labeled as the next highly touted Red Bull junior.
This year, Lawson has been better than Lindblad, but only slightly, with both showing their driving chops.

The Bundesliga may not have started yet, but it is already time to think about the Champions League. The last of the second legs for the last round of UCL qualification end on Wednesday, August 26, meaning that we will know all the Champions League participants by that point in time.
The draw starts the day after, at 18:00 CET on Thursday, August 27th, which will determine the fixtures of each of the 36 teams in the Champions League. Each of these teams are split into various pots based on their European performances. For example, Aston Villa were placed in Pot 4 when they qualified for the UCL in the 2024/25 season, but following their European exploits that campaign, as well as their Europa League win in the 2025/26 season, they managed to make Pot 2 this time around.
Pot 1 is reserved for the highest ranked teams in the competition, and Pot 4 for lowest ranked teams. Not all the pot placements are fixed because not all the teams are set yet. What we do know is that each team will be drawn against 2 opponent from each of the 4 pots. Of course, as usual, no teams from the same country can be drawn to face each other in the league phase.
Bayern Munich will learn their Champions League fate on Thursday, too. They have faced elite clubs like Paris Saint-Germain (twice), Barcelona, and ****** nal in the Champions League first stage over the past two years.

We are now less than two weeks away from Ohio Stadium being full of scarlet and gray and cheering on Ohio State football this fall. The Buckeyes open up the 2026 season by hosting Ball State on Saturday, Sept. 5, and some changes inside the 'Shoe are significant.
For one, the installation of the new field turf is complete, and it does look good. OSU decided to replace the turf inside Ohio Stadium to bring it up to NFL standards, and it's like getting a fresh coat of paint on the venerable stadium on the banks of the Olentangy.
That's not all that will be evident when walking into the football cathedral, however. On Wednesday, Ohio State unveiled nine field-level suites that are primed to be open and ready for business by next Saturday. On top of those suites are some premium seating as well, adding a little bougie feel to the 'Shoe. We knew about these suites coming to the south stands already, but thanks to the wonderment of social media, we got our first look at them.

Following a disappointing loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday night, the Brewers will look to bounce back on Wednesday evening, with right-hander Dustin May on the mound opposite Robert Stock for New York.
May has made three starts since joining the Brewers, with last Wednesday's outing against the Mariners representing his first real stumble. After allowing just three earned runs with 11 strikeouts over 13 innings in his first two starts, May was tagged for seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one over just two innings in Milwaukee's 7-5 loss. For the season, he's 6-8 with a 4.57 ERA, 3.36 FIP, and 118 strikeouts across 124 innings.
Stock, 36, is a former second-round pick who spent time in the Brewers organization in 2023. He debuted with the Padres in 2018 and later had brief stints with the Red Sox, Cubs, and Mets through 2021 before pitching overseas. Stock returned to the majors with two appearances for Boston last season before rejoining the Mets this year. He has made four starts in 2026, posting a 5.40 ERA and 4.10 FIP with 19 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. Those numbers are skewed by one particularly rough outing, when he surrendered eight of his 10 earned runs in a 9-0 loss to the Pirates in early August. The Mets have won in both of his last two starts, as he's totaled 8 2/3 innings with two runs allowed (one earned) and 11 strikeouts against the Nationals and Padres.
Sal Frelick makes his return to the lineup after being activated from his IL stint yesterday, as he'll start in left field and bat leadoff. Garrett Mitchell follows, with Brice Turang, Christian Yelich, and William Contreras in the 3-4-5 spots. Luis Lara moves up to bat sixth, with Andrew Vaughn, David Hamilton, and Cooper Pratt rounding things out, meaning Joey Ortiz and Jackson Chourio will start this one on the bench.
First pitch is at 6:10 p.m. on Brewers TV and the Brewers Radio Network.

Gabriel has reportedly fallen behind Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, while rookie Taylen Green has added another young option to the equation, making it increasingly difficult for Cleveland to justify keeping everyone.

Undrafted free agent (UDFA) Trebor Pena went into training camp looking to make a strong impression on the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff, something that he has likely done up to this point.
That said, he still faces an uphill battle when it comes to making the final roster. The wide receiver room is already crowded, with six roster spots — Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, Travis Hunter, Josh Cameron, and CJ Williams — accounted for.
Pena would need to convince the Jaguars to roster a seventh wide receiver, which, admittedly, would help bolster the overall depth. With Hunter playing primarily on defense this season, it would give them more weapons to utilize, not just in receiving, but also in run blocking and on special teams.
But even if Jacksonville does choose to roster a seventh receiver, Pena has to get past other hopefuls to win out, with Austin Trammell likely his biggest competition.
Over the last two weeks, Pena's stock has skyrocketed, as he has turned in two impressive performances that have been recognized by Pro Football Focus (PFF) not just once, but twice.

The Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive line unit took its lumps during Tuesday's joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, specifically in pass protection.
John Shipley of Jaguars on SI put together his good and not-so-good from the practice, and in the latter category was the offensive line's play in pass pro.
Shipley noted that the Bucs' defensive front was generating pressure from "a few different spots." In a separate article, Shipley noted that Reuben Bain Jr. found his share of success against the Jaguars' tackles not named Anton Harrison.
From the Jaguars' perspective, hopefully this was just a down day against a stout Bucs' pass rush and not a sign of what's to come this season.
Jacksonville has been getting healthier up front and potentially had their Week 1 offensive line configuration on the field. This unit consisted of Harrison at left tackle, followed by Emmanuel Pregnon, Robert Hainsey, Ezra Cleveland, and Walker Little, according to Shipley.

BEREA ― The final preseason game for the Browns will be a big deal for a lot of players. Almost none of those players currently have a spot secured on the initial 53-man roster.
Coach Todd Monken has already indicated the Aug. 27 game against the New England Patriots won't involved any of his starters. Considering the injuries at some key positions, it's probably not going to involved a whole lot of players who key backups or rotational pieces as well.
What it will involve is a bunch of players who may have roster spots already in hand, but those spots could easy slip away with a tough performance. It'll also involve two quarterbacks who both may be fighting to stay.

Brian Mason has never been shy in his views of Ashton Dulin's performance on special teams, calling the 29-year-old receiver veteran "one of the three-best special teams players in the NFL" last fall.
How much the Colts will be able to take advantage of those skills – on his most active days, Indianapolis uses his 4.4 speed as its primary gunner on punt coverage, as well as one of its two returners on kickoffs – may vary week-to-week, depending on the team's health across the board.
After last week's signing of six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen, Dulin finds himself no longer in contention for one of the Colts' three starting wideout spots. Instead he's jockeying with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for fourth on the depth chart on a team whose star second-year tight end Tyler Warren makes Dulin or Westbrook-Ikhine the fifth receiving option at-best.

Dulin has performed arguably the most consistently of Indianapolis' rotational wideouts in the preseason, all while taking very few reps on special teams. It gave the appearance the Colts planned to significantly reduce his role on punt and kick teams to preserve his energy and impact for offense. But with Allen's signing dropping Dulin a spot, the receiver who has just seven catches since the end of the 2022 campaign finds himself in virtually the same spot as the end of last season.

With Andretti Global's Kyle Kirkwood winning the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, IndyCar's final street race in 2026, there was one common denominator in all six street races: They were won by a car with a Honda engine.
Honda went 6-of-6 on the street circuits (two Kirkwood wins, three Alex Palou wins and one from Marcus Ericsson) while Chevrolet, IndyCar's other engine manufacturer, didn't win any.
To sweep the streets, Honda never really had to scrape by in any race, as a Honda engine led 542 of the 597 (90.7%) of the laps on streets this year while claiming 15 of the 18 podium spots. The manufacturer has won 19 of the last 21 street races dating back to 2023, when it also swept the streets.
Honda has won 10 of the 15 races, including Felix Rosenqvist's win in the Indianapolis 500 for Meyer Shank Racing. After Chevrolet closed the gap with three straight wins in June and July, Honda has separated itself by winning four in a row.
"I think the fact that we won the 500 and we also turn around and we're doing it currently on street courses, it makes me proud for the team," Honda Racing Corporation USA vice president Kelvin Fu told IndyStar. "And a lot of it is, it's just not us, it's Andretti and it's (Chip Ganassi Racing), right? It's a combination of their ability to develop their car control and the drivers and surviving a 147-lap, ******* py street course."

As years and seasons pass, the modern NFL becomes increasingly obsessed with disguise. Coaches and their coordinators spend countless hours searching for ways to confuse quarterbacks, hide intentions, and create pre-snap hesitation. The challenge, however, is that complexity can become a double-edged sword. A defense that confuses opponents can sometimes confuse the players who execute it.
That balancing act is something the Baltimore Ravens have been working through during training camp. Eric DeCosta and company have ***** embled a unit filled with versatile players who can line up in multiple spots. Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver are charged with teaching players to handle a variety of responsibilities.
The more flexibility a defense possesses, the more options coaches have at their disposal. The question becomes how to maximize that versatility without overwhelming the players expected to execute it. Recently, Ravens defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver spoke with reporters and was asked about the ripple effects of having so many defenders capable of moving around the formation.
"The ripple effect for the players, I think, is you have to have a very smart team — because if you are going to move guys around, ultimately that means other guys are going to have to do different jobs, too."
Weaver's answer offered an interesting look at the philosophy guiding Baltimore's defensive approach. That comment highlights an often-overlooked aspect of defensive football. Versatility isn't just about one player learning multiple positions.

The Washington Commanders have less than a week to trim their roster from 90 to 53 players. The Commanders made one tough decision on Tuesday, releasing former starting safety Will Harris. With Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols battling injuries and Jerome Ford already gone, Henry has another chance to shine. After an impressive preseason opener against the Dolphins, Henry crashed back down to earth last week. As of now, Henry probably hasn't done quite enough to earn a spot on the 53. He must make it hard for the Commanders to cut him. He'll likely split time with Rachaad White and fellow rookie Kaytron Allen. Henry needs to make the most out of every touch.
Last week, head coach Dan Quinn said he wanted to see the rookie sixth-round pick get more work at guard after an impressive first performance. Quinn said that because whoever makes the roster as a backup offensive lineman must be able to play multiple spots. However, after seeing Julian Good-Jones' struggles last week in place of Nick Allegretti, Gulbin should handle every rep, regardless of who is playing quarterback. Gulbin got more work with starter Jayden Daniels during Tuesday's practice, and that should be the case on Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers executed a wave of roster moves a few days out from their preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills.
On Monday, the Steelers not only activated Jalen Ramsey off the physically unable to perform list, but signed cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and running back Alex Tecza, as well as placing defensive back Israel Mukuamu on the reserve/injured list and releasing rookie kicker Laith Marjan.
Guilbeau played four years at Texas (2022-2025) before joining the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. He recorded 124 combined tackles, one sack, one interception, and 10 passes defended during his college career.
Tecza had a similar path to that of Eli Heidenreich, as he's also a Pittsburgh native who attended Mt. Lebanon High School and played collegiate football at Navy. During his three seasons (2023-2025) as a Navy Midshipman, Tecza recorded 2,687 yards from scrimmage and 26 total touchdowns.
It remains to be seen if both players can get up to speed in time to get a lot of playing time during the preseason matchup against the Bills, but both players are more than likely competing for practice squad spots this close to final roster cuts.

SOUTH BEND —A dozen days away from Notre Dame football's season opener against Wisconsin, Joe Rudolph's offensive line is still holding auditions for 40% of the starting spots.
In addition to the Joe Otting-Ashton Craig battle at center, where team doctors have yet to fully clear Craig in his return from his second torn ACL in as many seasons, there's a turnstile of sorts spinning at right guard.
Or maybe it was just the turn of Styles Prescod, considered the top backup at either tackle spot, to get a longer look at right guard.
"Listen, the competition at right guard is open," offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock said. "And we've got a number of guys we're taking a look at in there. Styles is one of those guys."
Sullivan Absher entered fall camp as the leading candidate at right guard, but a broken foot derailed second-year man Matty Augustine's push to claim the starting job.

The Giants traded offensive guard Joshua Ezeudu to the Chiefs on Tuesday night, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports. New York will get a 2028 seventh-rounder in return.
Ezeudu, 26, was listed on the team's depth chart as the backup to Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle, but coach John Harbaugh had said Ezeudu would train in multiple spots.
The Giants selected Ezeudu in the third round of the 2022 draft.
A calf injury sidelined Ezeudu for all of 2025, but he has appeared in 33 games, with 10 starts.
The Chiefs wanted depth in the interior of their offensive line, especially at right guard behind Trey Smith.

The Miami Heat is still celebrating the arrival of Klay Thompson, who signed a two-year, $11.5 million contract with the franchise late last week, marking the team’s second-biggest addition this offseason.Â
Thompson also made a bit of a financial sacrifice, doing so with one vision in mind.
“I would say just the opportunity to play high-level basketball throughout the season and the chance to make a deep postseason run,” Thompson, when asked about taking less money, said Tuesday during his introductory press conference. “Those things were so attractive to me and obviously you want to maximize your earning potential as an athlete. But I’ve tasted winning before and there’s really nothing like it.”
That decision will help the Heat a great deal. The team now has the flexibility to sign two players to a minimum contract, with three open roster spots still available.Â

Fall camp is over, and the 2026 season is just over a week away from kicking off for the Oklahoma Sooners. OU has one of the more talented rosters in college football. They'll have an offense that should be significantly improved and a defense ready to replicate its 2025 performance.
But like most programs across the country, the Sooners leave fall camp with a few remaining questions. It's not that there isn't talent available at certain spots; it's only a matter of clarity. We don't know the direction the coaching staff will go in the first couple of weeks of the season.
So as we get ready for 2026, here are a few lingering questions remaining from fall camp.
Starting center Jake Maikkula is out in the short term, which means the Sooners need to find their center for the UTEP game and maybe for the Michigan game. While Caleb Nitta was brought in to be the backup, the Sooners may be better off rolling with true freshman Noah Best. Best has received rave reviews this summer.
He spent time playing center in spring ball and has worked mostly at right guard in fall camp with Ryan Fodje flipping to left tackle to fill in for Michael Fasusi. Best's work with the first team offense is important because it has gotten him more physically prepared for the defensive fronts Oklahoma will see in Week 2 vs. Michigan and during SEC play. But will the Sooners feel more comfortable with the talent and upside of Best or a more veteran option like Nitta?

Nike and the NFL revealed the 2026 Rivalries uniforms for teams in the AFC South and NFC North, including a new design for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars will wear the new uniform on Nov. 1 during a home game against divisional rival the Indianapolis Colts.
The Rivalries program launched in 2025 as a collaboration between Nike, the NFL and participating clubs to create uniform designs influenced by local team communities. The 2026 release expands the initiative into its second year with eight new team uniforms.
The Jaguars uniform combination features a white jersey, black pants and white socks with prominent teal, gold and black accents. A teal-glossed helmet displays a gold face mask and a "904" mark representing Jacksonville's area code. The outer collar features a "Since "95" inscription honoring the franchise's inaugural season and cursive script spelling out "Jaguars" references the team's Southern roots.
The black pants feature a teal stripe with gold trim over a subtle jaguar print pattern, with the names of Jacksonville neighborhoods hidden inside the spots on the pants. Following the game against Indianapolis, the Rivalries uniform will remain in the team's uniform rotation for three years alongside existing alternate uniforms.
Fanatics will begin selling coinciding fan merchandise in stores and online on Sept. 1, including jerseys, helmets, shirts, jackets, footwear and hats. The Miller Electric Center Pro Shop will operate with special hours on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while maintaining standard hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and opening 3 hours before kickoff on home game days.NFL executives highlighted the rollout of the new division designs across both conferences. Taryn Hutt, vice president of club marketing for the NFL, commented on the expansion of the program.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Tuesday that Brooks and Hubbard will be in a committee to start the season, so Brooks has a chance to capture the lead back role.
A handful of backups or depth RBs have made a push this past week, including Jordan Mason (who I actually like over Aaron Jones Sr. as a draft selection), Braelon Allen (while Breece Hall deals with injury) and MarShawn Lloyd (with Josh Jacobs surrounded by question marks). One other riser I like as a sleeper right now: Texans tight end Dalton Schultz, who has cracked the top 150 on Yahoo and has an underrated chance to be a TE1 and a top target in Houston with Jayden Higgins out for the season.

The final seven of the total 36 participants will be confirmed late on Wednesday evening after the end of the second-leg playoff matches. They will be divided into four pots of nine clubs each based on their UEFA coefficient. At the end of the 2025/26 season, Borussia Dortmund were 11th in the rankings with 100.750 points, topped by Bayern Munich, and will therefore be placed in pot two.
Placement in the four different pots has no direct impact on whether a club will face what are commonly referred to as "easy" or "difficult" opponents. A computer will draw two clubs from each of the four pots as opponents for each of the 36 participants in the league phase. Matches between two teams from the same **** ociation are not possible. This means BVB cannot face Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig or VfB Stuttgart in the league phase.
As in the previous two seasons, each club will play four home matches and four away matches. The results will go into one combined table featuring all 36 participants. The top eight teams will qualify directly for the round of 16, while the teams placed ninth to 24th will compete in a playoff format for the remaining eight spots in the last 16.
The league phase, consisting of eight matchdays, begins on 8 September 2026 and ends on 27 January 2027. The playoffs will be played from mid-February 2027.
The UEFA Champions League schedule, including match dates and kick-off times, will be announced by Saturday, 29 August at the latest. UEFA has announced that it will publish a corresponding notice on its social media channels shortly before the schedule is released.

Louisville ended last year with one of the best kicking games in the country while also being one of the worst punting units in all of college football. At this point, one could argue that the goal this season is to just have a kicking game that can get the bare minimum done. The staff was tasked with replacing the starters at both kicking positions, and at this point in fall camp, I'm not sure they are satisfied with the choices they have in the kicking game.
The only returner on the team who kicked last year is Nick Keller, and he is the likely frontrunner to take over the positions. Keller hit on half of his kicks last season as the long field goal option as well as the kickoff specialist. Keller has a massive leg, which brings real value to the team, but his accuracy is a real issue as well. If he can be more consistent with his kicks, he should be fine.
Garth White appears to be the challenger for the kicker spot, with a real chance to win the job. White has been consistent with his short kicks when fans and media have been able to check out practice, but he didn't connect on the longer kicks in our limited time seeing him. White finished last season 14-for-18 on kicks, with a long of 54 yards as well as a 52-yarder. If there is a position where a step up in competition should be smooth, it's at kicker.
While field goals have a clear path to being a solid position, there is not a punter on the roster right now who has shown promise to be an ****** et to the team. Jeff Brohm's first press conference this fall was a clear message about his feelings about the kicking game. That same message continued to be repeated by media who attended practice, as well as by my own eyes.
The entire punting operation appeared to be broken a couple of weeks into fall practice. Snaps were bad; punters had trouble handling snaps; punts either didn't have enough hang time, or they didn't have enough distance. The only punt I saw that looked the part took so long to get off that I think the punter would have been tackled by the rush. The good thing is that the staff has time to address the issue. Personnel is what it is, but I was impressed by the improvised competitions the staff put on during camp. Putting these guys in tough spots each day should help to find the right guys for the job.

The outlook for the Middle East war remains grim, the U.S. just threatened Iran with the "toughest sanctions in history," and the world is running out of stored fuels. To make matters worse, refining capacity is down considerably, and even if the outlook for the war suddenly changed and the U.S. and Iran made peace, the fuel squeeze will last for months—and so will its adverse effects on the global economy.
Watching crude oil prices, one would think everything is under control. Both Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate are below $100 per barrel, even if they are both up by around $20 per barrel from pre-war levels. Still, the price rise in crude oil is much more moderate than the inflation in fuel prices. Diesel in Europe, for instance, is up by 70% from pre-war levels, as reported by Reuters' Ron Bousso this week.
A separate Reuters report showed that diesel now costs more in Europe than jet fuel. This is the first time in over a year that the price difference between the two fuels is in favor of diesel, the publication noted, citing data from LSEG. The diesel crack spread in the United States hit triple digits earlier this week, for the first time ever. The premium over crude prices jumped to as high as $102 per barrel on Monday, before easing slightly to about $100 a barrel on Tuesday.

Refinery margins are running at record highs across the world as the energy crisis unfolds. The first aspect of this crisis is the tighter supply of crude from the Middle East, which should be obvious enough since the media has been covering the topic on a daily basis for over six months. Yet there has also been refinery damage in the Middle East. In fact, per the International Energy Agency, as much as a fifth of that refining capacity, totaling some 9.6 million barrels daily, has been knocked out by hostilities.

The Minnesota Lynx had a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs Monday night.
But in a potential WNBA Finals preview, the Golden State Valkyries were the better team by far in an 80-66 win in Minnesota.
The win was the first-ever for Golden State over Minnesota, which entered Monday 9-0 against the Valkyries, including a 2-0 sweep in the first round of last season's playoffs. Now the Valkyries, in their second season of existence, have beaten every other WNBA team.
The Valkyries' win also denied the Lynx a shot to clinch the No. 1 seed in the postseason, keeping their own long-shot hopes of securing the top seed alive. The Lynx drop to 31-8 with the loss, while the second-place Valkyries improve to 26-11.
The Valkyries are now four games behind the Lynx in the race for the WNBA's best record with seven games remaining on their schedule. The Lynx will play five more regular-season games. Both teams have already clinched a playoff berth and the could potentially face off in the WNBA Finals if they maintain the top two spots in the field.
