One of Paul Toboni's big goals in his first year as Nationals President of Baseball Operations was to build a player development monster. So far he has aced that ******* ignment. You can see the fruits of this player development machine in the big leagues. However, the real monster is being built at the Minor League level.
Under Mike Rizzo, there were times where the Nats had good farm systems, arguably better than this one. However, there has never been a time where the Nats system had this much depth. The Nats have 24 players with a future value of at least 45, something only one other team can say. They also have 9 players with an FV of at least 50 compared to just four last year.
This year it has felt like a new breakout prospect is emerging on nearly a weekly basis. A lot of these guys were not even able to crack the Nats top 30 list. Players such as Yohandy Morales, Angel Feliz and Maxwell Romero would be on most lists, but they did not make the cut in a stacked Nats system.
The fact that Morales is having his best year as a pro, yet is sliding down the rankings tells you a lot about the depth of the system. He is far from a perfect prospect, but this is still a player with pedigree that is destroying AAA. Maybe you would put Morales on your top 30, but it takes a lot to make the list.
Right now Caleb Lomavita is the Nats 30th ranked prospect. He is an athletic catcher who was a top 40 pick and has a .771 OPS in AA right now. In previous years, that would likely be a top 15 prospect in the system, but now he can barely hang on to a top 30 spot.

The Rochester Red Wings rallied late for a 5-2 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Friday night at ESL Ballpark, scoring twice in the seventh inning to take the lead and adding two insurance runs in the eighth.
Rochester struck first when Seaver King led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to left field, his eighth homer of the season. Charlotte answered in the third on an RBI single by Mario Camilletti, then moved ahead 2-1 in the fifth when Andy Weber connected for a solo homer.
The Red Wings broke through in the seventh. Trey Lipscomb and Sam Petersen delivered singles. Liover Peguero, making his Rochester debut, then lined a two-out single to center for his first hit as a Red Wing, driving in both runners and giving Rochester a 3-2 lead.
Rochester added breathing room in the eighth after Phillip Glasser was hit by a pitch and Yohandy Morales doubled. Trey Lipscomb followed with a two-run double to left field, scoring both runners and extending the advantage to 5-2.
Lipscomb paced the Red Wings offense by going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. King finished 2-for-4 with a homer, while Peguero drove in two runs and Petersen added a hit and scored a run. Rochester collected eight hits in the win.

Utah's Devon Dampier is one of the better returning quarterbacks in college this season, with ESPN Bill Connelly ranking Dampier the No. 12 quarterback in college football and Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic pegging him at No. 22 in the country.
After a season that saw Dampier throw for 2,490 yards and 24 touchdowns and rush for 835 yards and 10 scores, all while playing through a sports hernia and ankle injury for much of the season, there is reason for Utah fans to be excited with the senior quarterback's return to Salt Lake City.
Adam Rittenberg of ESPN recently spoke to coaches, coordinators and general managers, who were granted anonymity to speak freely about some of the top quarterbacks in each conference.
One Big 12 defensive coordinator said, "I'm a big fan of Dampier; he's legit."
In a step up in competition from New Mexico, Dampier proved to be exactly what the Utes needed at the quarterback position in 2025. Dampier arrived at Utah with offensive coordinator Jason Beck, and the pairing helped the Utes score 41.2 points per game and gain 482.9 yards per contest, marks that ranked No. 4 in the country.

Cayden Wallace broke the game open with a first-inning grand slam, and the Rochester Red Wings rode a four-homer night to a 13-5 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday at PNC Field.
Rochester (66-44) sent nine men to the plate in the opening inning and scored six times. Phillip Glasser and Yohandy Morales scored on consecutive bases-loaded walks by Riley Adams and Sam Petersen before Wallace drove a grand slam to left field for his third homer of the season.
The RailRiders trimmed the deficit to 6-2 on Anthony Volpe's two-run homer in the third, but Rochester answered in the fourth. Wallace singled, advanced on a walk and hit-by-pitch, then scored when Seaver King reached on a forceout.
Morales extended the lead with a solo homer to left-center in the fifth, his 22nd of the season. Maxwell Romero Jr. followed with a solo shot in the sixth, his fourth homer in the last three games, to push Rochester's advantage to 9-3.
The Red Wings added four insurance runs in the ninth. Romero's two-out single scored Trey Lipscomb, and Leandro Pineda followed with a three-run homer to right-center that scored Wallace and Romero.

The Athletics opened this weeklong road trip by losing two out of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Following an off day yesterday, the A's are back in action today as they begin a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, who at 51-53, are 4 1/2 games back of the American League Central lead and 2 1/2 games behind the third and final AL Wild Card spot.
Before the game. the team shook up its bullpen.
Right-handed reliever Yunior Tur's MLB debut did not go well, as he allowed 14 runs in his first 2 2/3 innings. Hopefully Tur can work on what wrong at Triple-A, so he comes back to the majors more prepared to succeed.
The player replacing him, right-hander Luis Morales, has been one of the team's biggest disappointments this season, struggling both in the big leagues and the minor leagues. With the A's out of contention, getting Morales, a former top prospect, back on track would be a big boost for the pitching staff moving forward.
Left-hander Jacob Lopez will make the start for the A's to kick off the series in the Twin Cities. The 28-year-old enters his 16th appearance and 13th start of the season with a 4-4 record, a 6.64 ERA, a 1.73 WHIP and 49 strikeouts over 59 2/3 innings.

Following the 2025 season, 31 players departed from the Oregon Ducks roster via the transfer portal, seeking more opportunity elsewhere. Reserve quarterback Austin Novosad was one of the more prominent names to do so.
Rated as a four-star and the No. 13 quarterback in the 2023 class, Oregon managed to flip Novosad from Baylor after five-star Dante Moore spurned the Ducks and himself flipped to UCLA. A top 200 prospect, the flip was considered a significant win for Oregon especially how quickly it came after losing Moore.
But the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Novosad never could quite carve out a role with the Ducks. He saw his most action in 2023 as a freshman, completing 9-of-11 passes for 52 yards in garbage time. That ended up being the peak, as he was the third-string quarterback in 2024 and once again in 2025.
Having transferred to Bowling Green of the MAC, where he's projected to be the starter this fall, intrigue is following the former Oregon passer. While The Athletic ranked Novosad as a Tier 7 (113th out of 138 overall) quarterback in college football, the lowest tier, he was named among seven of the most fascinating signal-callers to keep an eye on in 2026.
"We never saw much of Novosad at Oregon," The Athletic's Antonio Morales wrote. "He spent the 2023 season behind Bo Nix, 2024 behind Dillon Gabriel and Moore, who joined the program after a season at UCLA, and 2025 behind Moore and Brock Thomas, who appeared to unseat Novosad for the backup role last year. Novosad has attempted 15 career passes, and 11 of those came in 2023. It's been a while since he's received extended playing time. For a former top 150 recruit, he's a relative mystery — one we'll learn more about this fall at Bowling Green."

Florida football saw a great deal of change since the end of last season, including the departure of Billy Napier and the hiring of Jon Sumrall, as well as a new play caller taking over the quarterback position.
While the final decision is not yet set in stone, it is presumed that Aaron Philo — who arrived in Gainesville through the transfer portal to join his previous offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, Buster Faulkner — will be lining up under center to start the season. The redshirt sophomore has the upper hand on redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr., who served as the primary backup last year, and true freshman Will Griffin heading to the opener of the 2026 campaign.
With that in mind, The Athletic's college football writers Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. recently ranked every projected starter at the position from 1 to 138, organizing them all into seven distinct tiers. Philo finds himself ranked No. 55, which puts him in Tier 4 — right in the middle of the pack.
"Philo saw limited snaps (63 in 2025) while backing up Haynes King at Georgia Tech, so there's still much to learn. He has been effective in his limited duty, accounting for 29 explosive plays in his 180 career snaps (a 3.4% explosive play rate would be top 30 nationally if sustained over starter snaps)," they said.
"I think he's a really good player," one SEC **** istant said. "The thing about him is he needs a lot of help. He's not a runner. He's not going to go out there and win the game himself, but he'll make the easy throws if guys are open."

Jul. 8—Great Lakes starting pitcher Zach Root struck out 11 and did not allow a runner past first base over six scoreless innings as the Loons defeated the Dayton Dragons 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Neither team could score over the first half of the game as Dragons starting pitcher Ovis Portes worked out of trouble in each of the first four innings. The game was scoreless going to the bottom of the fifth when Portes issued a lead-off walk followed by a run-scoring double by Logan Wagner to give Great Lakes a 1-0 lead.
Portes was replaced by Beau Blanchard, who surrendered an RBI double to Emil Morales, the first man he faced, as the Loons jumped ahead 2-0. After a pair of walks, the Loons added another run on a sacrifice fly to make it a three-run inning. In the sixth, Blanchard surrendered a lead-off home run to Chuck Davalan as Great Lakes increased their lead to 4-0.
Going to the eighth inning, the Dragons had only two hits and had not advanced a runner to second base. Alfredo Alcantara ripped a lead-off double to left-center field to start that inning and with one out, Victor Acosta worked a walk. Peyton Stovall then lined a triple down the right field line as the baseball lodged beneath the Loons bullpen bench, bringing in both Alcantara and Acosta to cut the Loons lead to 4-2. But the next two batters, Ryan McCrystal and Julio Carreras, both tapped out in front of the plate and Stovall was stranded at third.
The Dragons came to bat in the ninth inning still down by two runs and got the tying run to the plate with one out when John Michael Faile drew a walk. Tyson Lewis struck out for the second out. Alcantara then lined a single to center to move Faile to second, but Marcus Smith struck out swinging to end the game.

Real Madrid are looking for a big sale from their existing squad, and Eduardo Camavinga is one of the names most commonly linked with such a departure.
The French midfielder has not been at his best for a long time now after all, and his prominence in the Real Madrid dynamics took a massive dip last season.
Jose Mourinho, who is now in charge of Real Madrid's first team, does not count on the player either, leading Los Blancos to prioritise him as an exit-linked name.
There has, however, not been much progress in terms of offers or negotiations.
As reported by journalist Roberto Morales (h/t Bernabeu Digital), the primary reason behind Real Madrid's difficulty in selling Camavinga has to do with their financial expectations.

Michael Morales didn't take too kindly to Ian Machado Garry's suggestion.
Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC), who challenges Islam Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) for the welterweight championship in the UFC 330 headliner Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, beat Morales and Carlos Prates in the ******* le race.
Instead, Machado Garry claimed Morales (19-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) should move up a division.
"If I was Michael Morales, you know what my advice would be to him? Go up to 185," Machado Garry said on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "Because you're young, you're big, you're somewhat talented. There is a lack of stars up there in the sport, and I think he could do very well there. But if he wants to stay at 170, I'll punch a hole in his head at some point."
Morales remained unbeaten when he finished top contender Sean Brady by first-round TKO at UFC 322 this past November. He fired back at Machado Garry's suggestion.

Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) challenges Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) for the 170-pound ***** le in the UFC 330 headliner on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia (Paramount+). Machado Garry was frustrated with how long his ***** le fight took to materialize after Makhachev claimed the welterweight belt at UFC 322 this past November.
"It's a fact, in my opinion, that when I'm the champion of the world, the welterweight division is better off," Machado Garry said on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "Firstly, Islam only fights once a year. So his next defense might be in July 2027. But the matchups, the stylistic matchups, they're very different. You have on the cards a potential match with Carlos Prates that would be massive. You've got on the cards a potential, arguably the biggest fight you can make in the sport at a certain point, is a potential rematch with me and Shavkat Rakhmonov whenever he's able to come back – if he ever comes back.
"You have a potential matchup with me and Michael Morales, Gabriel Bonfim. You have Sean Brady in the mix, you have (Uros) Medic coming up. The welterweight division is the greatest it's ever been, and it's the most stacked it's ever been. It's the best division in this sport right now. There's no arguments about that, from top to bottom the best division. When I'm the champion of the world, there's going to be more activity. There's going to be more high-level fights. The fans, everybody, I'm promising you now, it's the best thing for the sport."
Machado Garry respects former two-division champion Makhachev's accolades, which is why he thinks beating him makes him undeniable.

An 11-run sixth inning led to a 14-1 loss for the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday.
Scott Effross and Carl Edwards Jr. were decent through the first four frames. They combined for nine straight outs after a leadoff single, but Christian Franklin broke the shutout with a solo shot off Edwards in the fourth. Max Anderson homered in the top of the inning, but that was Toledo’s only run of the day.
Edwards gave up another homer in the fifth, Anderson had a double in the top of the sixth, and then the bad times began. A leadoff single and walk got the bullpen going, and Konnor Pilkington replaced Edwards on the mound after a groundout put men on the corners.
Pilkington gave up an RBI single, hit a batter and watched two more runs cross on a double up the middle. Tyler Mattison was next out of the bullpen. He immediately got tacked for a two-run double over the right fielder’s head. If the wheels weren’t already falling off, they were definitely gone after this sequence: walk, single, single, walk, single. 10-1, Rochester.
Mattison finally got the second out, striking out Yohandy Morales, and in came Woo-Suk Go. Three more runs crossed before the inning ended. Go wasn’t particularly good, walking two batters — one with the bases loaded — and allowing a two-run single. None of those baserunners were on his ledger, though.

On a recent work trip, former NBC news anchor and current CBS correspondent Natalie Morales forgot her hotel room number.
She said she went to the hotel gym, and then back up to what she thought was her floor. As she ran her key card against several doors down the hallway, she made a mental note of the memory lapse.
"Oh my gosh," she thought. "Either I'm overworking, or I don't know what's going on. Maybe I'm having perimenopause brain."
And another thought: Could she be showing early signs of dementia?
Morales, 54, doesn't have dementia. But she thinks about Alzheimer's disease often. Her mother-in-law, Kay Rhodes, died in 2014 after a years-long battle with the disease, which impacts more than 7 million Americans today, according to the Alzheimer's ****** ociation. Rhodes was Morales's age when she was diagnosed.

Brady House hit an RBI double in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Rochester Red Wings to a 7-6 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Sunday at Coca-Cola Park.
Christian Franklin homered and reached base three times for Rochester, which improved to 38-24.
Franklin opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run off IronPigs starter Drake Fellows, his fourth of the season. Lehigh Valley responded in the bottom half when Keaton Anthony hit an RBI double and Gabriel Rincones Jr. added a sacrifice fly to give the IronPigs a 2-1 lead.
Rochester answered with a three-run third. Franklin doubled and scored on a Yohandy Morales single to tie it, then House followed with an RBI single to right. Later in the inning, Andrew Pinckney grounded into a double play, but Abimelec Ortiz came home on the play to push the lead to 4-2.
The IronPigs trimmed the deficit in the fourth when Christian Cairo grounded out with a runner on third, bringing home Rincones Jr. to make it 4-3. The game stayed there until the seventh, when the Red Wings manufactured two key runs. With two outs, Robert Hassell III walked, Tres Barrera singled and Trey Lipscomb followed with an RBI single to center, scoring Hassell III. Moments later, Barrera stole home as Rochester executed a double steal, giving the Red Wings a 6-3 cushion.
