The Rochester Red Wings overcame an early deficit with a four-run seventh inning to secure a 5-2 win against the Charlotte Knights on Saturday at ESL Ballpark.
Charlotte took an early lead, scoring in the first two innings. Joey Wiemer drove in a run with a groundout in the first, and Rikuu Nishida added an RBI single in the second.
Rochester struggled to generate offense against Charlotte starter David Sandlin through the first five innings. The Red Wings broke through in the sixth when Trey Lipscomb hit a solo home run to right-center field, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The Red Wings rallied in the seventh. Leandro Pineda led off with a single, followed by walks to Seaver King and Phillip Glasser to load the bases. Yohandy Morales tied the game with an RBI fielder's choice, scoring Pineda. Lipscomb then hit his second home run of the night, a three-run shot to right field, giving Rochester a 5-2 lead.
Lipscomb finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored. Pineda added two hits, while King singled, walked and scored during the decisive rally.
