Alexander Isak scored a winner for Liverpool on Saturday, finding the net on his return to beat Brentford. It was the kind of moment that Isak was signed for - to be the decisive goalscorer in a difficult game.
No matter what, then, this was a good performance from Isak. He did his job, got the three points for Liverpool, and it's difficult to have complaints. 'Difficult' but not impossible.
This was not a brilliant display from the Swede, who struggled badly to get into the game before Brentford were reduced to 10 men. And that creates a very difficult problem for Andoni Iraola to solve.
Brentford's red card came in the rarely-seen 8th-minute of first-half stoppage time, so this was truly a game of two halves. Incredibly, Liverpool actually had the same share of the ball in each half, though - 60 per cent of it.

Nuno Tavares almost scored from a deflected strike, but the ball ricocheted off the woodwork.
After the break, Randal Kolo Muani skipped past Josip Sutlo to present Nick Woltemade with an inviting opportunity to net the equaliser, but the Juventus substitute couldn't hit the target. At the other end of the pitch, Nuno Tavares found Isaksen with a wonderful cross-field pass, and the Danish winger cut past Zeki Celik and put the ball past Guglielmo Vicario to double Lazio's lead.

While the Liverpool No9 may have the highest Non-Penalty Expected Goals total in the Premier League this term, the data doesn't reveal all. Wingers come in different guises and at different prices. On the day Liverpool agreed to pay up to £123m for Bradley Barcola, the man signed for rather less, and with rather less fanfare, again spared Andoni Iraola a first defeat of his reign. On Sunday at Newcastle, Victor Munoz won the penalty that produced Dominik Szoboszlai's 99th-minute equaliser. On his Anfield bow, the £34m Spaniard delivered a devastating equaliser.
That both contributions came from the right flank, though he had started on the left against Nottingham Forest, may be pertinent. The presumption is that Barcola will be used on the left. While Liverpool are yet to replace Mohamed Salah, they got two equalisers from the men stationed in his old spot here, with Cody Gakpo affording Alexander Isak a tap-in. The Dutchman is scarcely a right winger and faces an uncertain future at the end of the window. If Munoz had a fine introduction, this could prove Gakpo's goodbye, and his was a valiant effort.
An encouraging element for Liverpool is that Iraola has exerted an impact with his changes in each of his first two games. Munoz, who came on at St James' Park, swapped flanks at Anfield, took Florian Wirtz's pass, span and unleashed a vicious shot, even if a deflection off Murillo helped. It may not have been the first example of fine decision-making by Iraola: he pushed for Munoz's signing when Newcastle were closing in on his signature. "Victor has been very good both games," said Iraola. "Everything hasn't been perfect but he tries again and again and again and I like this from the wingers."
And so his tenure has begun with twin 2-2 draws. If it promises to be fun, at times his Liverpool can be both fast and flawed. Liverpool had more defensive difficulties, with a susceptibility to the counter-attack again apparent, but with variations on a theme. Newcastle had scored twice by running straight through the heart of Iraola's team. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio are hoping to acquire Zhegrova on loan with an option to buy from Juventus. The 27-year-old's current net salary is €2.5 million per year, so the Biancocelesti should be able to cover it. However, the pink newspaper insists that the arrival of the former LOSC Lille player would only be plausible if Cancellieri were to leave.
Over the past few days, the Roman winger has been linked with several Serie A clubs, with Genoa making the most concrete offer. But according to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Cancellieri is refusing to join Daniele De Rossi's team.

But here's the thing: they won't stop there. Liverpool haven't actually replaced Mohamed Salah, after all, and the Egyptian has left a void on the right flank that must be filled.
The squad actually lacks right-wingers entirely and while the club will hope to have replaced Salah's quality with Barcola, they still need someone to actually play his position. Finding that player has been incredibly difficult, however, as the market on that flank is genuinely awful.
