Liverpool won their first match of the season on Friday when they took on newly promoted Ipswich Town. Two early goals from Alexander Isak sealed the deal with 81 minutes to spare, and Liverpool returned to Anfield with all three points.
After the match, wing-back Milos Kerkez was asked about the win and what it means to the team.
"It's really nice," he told the official site. "I think we were in the game since the first minute. It's what we talked [about] in the first two games [that] we need to do better. I think we did that outstanding. Obviously Alex is starting to score and I hope that continues. I'm happy with the boys and overall how aggressive we went."
The goals have come in all three games so far, but how's the chemistry coming along, especially now that Mohamed Salah isn't there to partner with him on the left?
"It's your job to adapt. That's why we have training sessions," Kerkez answered. "I think with Cody [Gakpo] this year we understand each other a lot better. They will be confident for this game after beating Sunderland at home on the opening weekend and I am expecting them to have a real go at Liverpool too.

Boss Andoni Iraola has plenty of attacking options, but I still have concerns about them defensively, while his players adjust to his front-foot pressing style.

What had initially promised to be a busy final couple of days for Liverpool during the summer transfer window ultimately fizzled out into nothing. The Reds managed to confirm a deal for Bradley Barcola after weeks of negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
That deal always felt like it was a matter of when and not if though.
The expectation was that there would be more business done. Andoni Iraola confirmed as much in the build-up to the season opener against Newcastle United.
"We will definitely sign some players. Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1. Because it is true that we are still quite thin."
The reinforcements, however, did not arrive and the former Bournemouth boss now has to get the best out of an incomplete and unbalanced squad. It is an unenviable situation to be in. But it is one Iraola is going to have to manage, at least until January anyway.

Somewhat surprisingly, Liverpool made plenty of changes to their ranks this summer.
Indeed, fans knew that moves needed to be made but, after their £450 million spend last term, most people were unsure about how much money FSG would've been willing to spend.
If Bradley Barcola hadn't joined, the window would've been an absolute travesty but, since his £100 million + move was confirmed, the Reds' spending was high again.
Despite the Frenchman's arrival, new players are still needed before it feels like the Reds are definitely ready to challenge for silverware again.
Of course, they'll still be seen as one of the Premier League's biggest teams but, unless Andoni Iraola manages to get his players performing to the standards expected of them soon, they could be left behind by their rivals.

Premier League clubs have smashed their summer transfer record with over £3.3bn spent. More than half of the Premier League's clubs broke their transfer records in a summer window featuring four of the top flight's five most expensive ever deals.

For most Liverpool fans, the club's business in the 2026 transfer window likely represents something of a mixed bag. In the end the Reds got their big money move for Bradley Barcola across the line, and the 24year-old French international left winger certainly ticks a lot of boxes on the need front.
His ability to progress the ball and create high qaulity goal scoring opportunities is elite, and the rapid winger's underlying numbers were better than the goal or ******* ist every 148 minutes he had last season—and his numbers hold up in the Champions League and with France at the international level.
Squad balance issues aside and leaving out the fact Mohamed Salah played on the right, Liverpool spent £125M to sign their so-called Salah replacement and it's hard to see an obvious better option they could have or should have moved for. Yet it's hard to completely set aside those squad balance issues.
Liverpool head into the season with four wingers in Barcola, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, and Victor Muñoz all more comfortable on the left. They have no players of that calibre naturally comfortable on the right. No players. Zero. Unless we think this is the year Federico Chiesa comes good. And stays fit.
In defence, the opportunistic signing of centre half Ronald Araujo was heartening, but a deadline day push for Chelsea's Malo Gusto on loan highlighted that the club are desperately thin at fullback, the options they have aren't entirely convincing, and the club knew it—and then failed to fix things.

Bradley Barcola was also welcomed on 31 August with the Frenchman being one of the Reds' most anticipated deals of the window.
After his arrival, Liverpool had four left-wingers among their ranks and only one right-winger.
However, with the way that Andoni Iraola wants his wingers to play, they all need to be versatile and able to play anywhere across the front three which is why the Reds probably aren't panicking that much about their attacking options.
