Arsenal have suffered a significant setback in their efforts to protect teenage sensation Max Dowman after an independent commission dismissed their appeal against his recent red card. The 16-year-old attacker was sent off during a frustrating Carabao Cup evening for the Gunners, and the club's attempt to overturn the decision has officially fallen flat.
The 16-year-old was given his marching orders in the 85th minute of ******* nal's Carabao Cup tie against Fleetwood Town. The late dismissal followed a heavy challenge from Harrison Neal, with the teenager reacting poorly and kicking out at his opponent.
Mikel Arteta's side ultimately exited the competition on penalties following a tense 1-1 draw. Hoping to spare their academy star a lengthy domestic suspension, the north London club formally challenged the referee's decision on grounds of wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment.
Those hopes were quickly dashed when the Football ******* ociation shut down ******* nal's attempts to clear the youngster's name. Taking to X on Thursday, an FA spokesperson released a statement confirming that the original on-field decision would be upheld by an independent panel.
"An independent Regulatory Commission has dismissed claims of both wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment for Max Dowman," the governing body announced.

SATELLITE BEACH — Satellite kicked off the SSAA Atlantic state playoffs hosting Lemon Bay in the first round on Oct. 29.
The four-seeded Scorpions played their brand of football with efficient offensive play and stingy defense in a 31-7 win over the fifth-seeded Manta Rays.
"I'm proud of the effort. I thought we played hard," Satellite head coach Dan Burke said. "I thought we did what we practiced to do. Looking forward to next week."
Satellite nearly pitched another shutout as Lemon Bay scored its lone touchdown with 1:45 remaining in regulation. The Manta Rays turned the ball over on downs four times, turned the ball over twice and punted once.
It was a new challenge for the Scorpions defense as the Manta Rays operated a triple-option offense. Lemon Bay ended the game averaging 3.2 yards per carry as it totaled 144 yards on 45 attempts.

Steve Kerr's refusal to mortgage the Warriors' future for Stephen Curry sparked a firestorm, and DeMarcus Cousins had the sharpest rebuttal yet. Kerr's defense of the franchise's future-first approach collided with an uncomfortable reality: Curry had just dropped 44 points to beat Minnesota, proving his championship window remains wide open.
Appearing at Gil's Arena, DeMarcus Cousins argued with Gilbert Arenas over Kerr's remarks, passionately arguing that if the Warriors are unwilling to push all their chips to the center of the table while Curry is still performing at a superstar level, the team owes it to the franchise icon to trade him to a legitimate contender. His argument hinged on the logical contradiction that the Warriors cannot simultaneously claim that Curry has a championship window and refuse to invest in it.
"So why would you mention championship window with Steph if you're not willing?" Cousins, a former Warriors player himself, challenged.
When Arenas countered that Steph Curry is 38 and no longer the foundational piece to build a five-year plan around, Boogie shut down the notion.
The tension between championship windows and roster construction just reached a boiling point. Subscribe to stay on top of the NBA's biggest debates and power player clashes.

No. 22 Florida State women's soccer bounced back from Saturday's loss to Notre Dame with a 2-1 victory over No. 5 Duke in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles entered the matchup looking to respond after being shut out 2-0 by Notre Dame. Facing another ranked ACC opponent, Florida State came out strong, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes.

At 9:24, Buckley used her speed to make a run toward Duke's goal. With the Blue Devils' goalkeeper coming out to challenge, Buckley found an opening and scored to give the Seminoles an early 1-0 lead.

The tiny town of Wheeler is now home to a World Series champion.
Native son Brandon Woodruff has earned a ring after his Milwaukee Brewers finished off Tampa Bay in five games, winning 4-1 on Wednesday night. It's the first World Series ****** le in franchise history.
Woodruff, 33, has spent his entire professional career in the Brewers organization, including the last 10 in the majors – making him the longest-tenured current Brewer. He's been one of the team's most consistent pitchers – when healthy. Woodruff missed the entire 2024 season with an injury to his throwing shoulder, and he has battled similar ailments the past two seasons. He made 12 starts in 2025 and nine starts this year.
After pitching on July 4, Woodruff was shut down due to shoulder issues and did not pitch the rest of the regular season. His numbers: a 2-2 record and 2.98 ERA.
But surprisingly, the right-hander did not need surgery and got healthy enough to be included on Milwaukee's World Series roster. And then, in Game 3 on Monday, Woodruff got the final three outs of a 10-1 win. He allowed one run on two hits and had one strikeout.

Bears' Kyle Monangai gets discouraging injury update ahead of Seahawks clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Chicago Bears have a challenging **** ignment in Week 8 when they travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks Monday night. The Seahawks are coming off an impressive 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in which their defense shut down their previously unbeaten opponent.
The Bears would like all of their top weapons to be functioning at a high level in this game because the Seahawks are so strong defensively. They are the top-ranked team in the league in fewest yards allowed at 233.9 per game, and they are second to the Minnesota Vikings in points allowed at 17.9 per game.
As a result, the Bears would like running back Kyle Monangai back in the lineup. He has missed the last three games with a turf toe injury. Monangai did not practice in Thursday's session with both the turf toe injury and a thumb issue listed as the main problem areas.

The UIL has found new broadcasting partners for this year's football state championships in Nexstar and Mission Broadcasting.

All 12 state championship games played at AT&T Stadium from Dec. 16-19 will be available on local television and the station's streaming platform, if applicable. Participating stations and platforms in Texas include KDAF and CW33+ (Dallas) and KIAH and CW39+ (Houston).
The UIL previously partnered with Dallas-based streaming service Victory+ to broadcast its football state ******* le games, but the service was dissolved by its parent company in September.
Victory+, which also broadcast Dallas Stars games, first launched in 2024 ahead of the NHL season. The streaming service was set to broadcast the Texas High School Coaches ******* ociation Game of the Week this season, including matchups like Humble Summer Creek versus Shadow Creek, before it shuttered.
Smithson Valley was the only San Antonio area team to play in a UIL football state championship game last season. The Rangers defeated Frisco Lone Star, 28-6, to win their second straight state ******* le. Smithson Valley is a perfect 8-0 so far and will close out its regular season Friday at Seguin.
"The UIL State Football Championships are an important tradition for high schools and communities throughout Texas," said Dr. Jamey Harrison, executive director of the UIL said in a press release. "We are excited to work with Nexstar Media and Mission Broadcasting to expand access to these championship games and we are pleased that fans will be able to watch them through streaming and local television broadcasts across Texas."

Texas A&M took care of business in Week 7, earning its second shutout win of the season after defeating The Citadel 41-0 behind 264 rushing yards and three touchdowns from sophomore RB Jamarion Morrow. With freshman back KJ Edwards adding 116 rushing yards, the Aggie offense needs to keep a "ground and pound" approach, especially if redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed remains the starter.
On defense, Texas A&M didn't have to do much, as the Bulldogs barely attempted to throw the ball, running 47 times for 140 yards, resulting in a one-dimensional attack that didn't require defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill to scheme up pressure, just needing to stop the run and tackle in ******* e, which was accomplished.
The SEC experienced its most chaotic week in what feels like a decade-plus, as No. 1 Georgia, No. 7 Texas, and Texas A&M's next opponent, Alabama, lost at home and on the road, resulting in a seismic shift in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.
As I stated above, Texas A&M will head to Tuscaloosa for the first time since the 2022 season to face Alabama, and after an impressive start to the year against bad defenses, sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell has passed for just 185 yards against Georgia (loss) and 147 yards and an interception during Saturday's loss at Tennessee.
Still, expectations are that the former five-star prospect will rebound at home against Texas A&M's respectable but beatable defense, especially given the Aggies' pass-rush issues. The Aggies enter the week as 15.5-point underdogs, and ESPN FPI gives Texas A&M a 16.5% chance to defeat Alabama (83.5%).

Qinwen Zheng has battled unimaginable fitness concerns over the past few years, which threatened to completely derail such a promising start to her career.
Having emerged onto the scene as inarguably one of the most talented Chinese players of all time, she soon started achieving feats to back up such promise.
Deep runs in WTA 1000 and Grand Slam tournaments felt relatively regular, and culminated in her reaching the final of the Australian Open in 2024, and the Wuhan Open later that year.
Whilst she lost both matches, Qinwen Zheng was getting closer to snagging an elite honour before disaster struck.
The end of her 2025 campaign was completely marred by injury, and whilst she tried to play after elbow surgery, she had to shut it down. This past turmoil is what makes any new fitness concerns particularly worrying for the 24-year-old.

The Green Bay Packers' defense hasn't had Micah Parsons on the field this season. However, it found another way to shut the door on Sunday night. The Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 at Lambeau Field, holding Dak Prescott to 34-of-54 passing for 258 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Notably, it was the third straight game Green Bay has held an opponent to 14 points or fewer, a feat that prompted former Packers QB Kurt Benkert to highlight Green Bay's defense on X.
Benkert focused on how the Packers were doing great teamwork on defense.
He wrote that seeing the defense "schematically causing problems for high-powered offenses" has him "really excited for what December and January football can look like for them."
The Packers' defense streak started with a 17-14 win at Tampa Bay on Oct. 4 against Jalon Daniels. Next came a 31-7 win over Chicago and quarterbacks Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent on Oct. 11, when Green Bay forced five turnovers and Xavier McKinney picked off two passes. On Sunday, Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens came to town.

Modern football is a game of two parts: the first hour or so, dictated by carefully curated gameplans and training ground patterns; and the final half-hour when a flurry of substitutes come on, rigid structures fade away and a match opens at the seams. ***** nal were dire for most of this game at the City Ground, shut out by Nottingham Forest's red wall. But yet again the power of Mikel Arteta's "finishers" decided a match.
Noni Madueke was sent on at half-time for Eberechi Eze, who had been statuesque at his station on the left touchline, which, in fairness, is not his position. With the clock ticking towards 80 minutes, Madueke did what Eze hadn't and drove at Forest's defence before unleashing a shot, which took a fortunate deflection off Jair Cunha on its way past the helpless Matz Sels. It went down as ***** nal's only shot on target, and in truth it might have been curling wide.
This was the third game in a row in which Arteta rang the changes in the second half as his team struggled to click, after Leeds last weekend and Lille in midweek. Once again he made a triple substitution on 65 minutes, sending on Jurrien Timber, Mikel Merino and Viktor Gyokeres, and once again a stubborn defence was worn down in the final stages. No Premier League side has generated more goals and ***** ists from the bench since the start of last season.
Noni Madueke scored the only goal of the game (Reuters)
Forest were excellent in their determination to blunt ***** nal's attack. Like Eze, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka had little joy, and Oliver Glasner took positives from a performance of cohesion and spirit. Liam Delap was a brilliant nuisance in attack and could have equalised in the final minutes but for Ezri Konsa's last-ditch block. Murillo nearly scored the goal of the season, dribbling in from the left touchline before curling just over the bar with one of the last kicks. But Forest remain third from bottom after a third successive defeat, and their wait for a first home goal of the season goes on.

CLEVELAND — A pivotal ALCS Game 5 that looked on paper like a premium pitchers' duel dissolved into something much different on Sunday, as the Tampa Bay Rays took down the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 at Progressive Field to move within one win of a World Series berth. While the final score suggests a closely contested ballgame, the tale of the two starting pitchers tells otherwise.
When the AL Cy Young Award is announced next month, it's a safe bet that Yankees ace Cam Schlittler will take home the honor. Toronto's Dylan Cease appears to be the likeliest runner-up. Beyond that, both Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen and Guardians rookie lefty Parker Messick have a strong case to be the third finalist, based on their fantastic regular seasons. Rasmussen ranked third in fWAR (5.0) and fourth in ERA (2.67) behind Schlittler and Cease; Messick ranked fourth in fWAR (4.9) and third in ERA (2.56).
These were the starting pitchers for Game 5 on Sunday. Rasmussen had tossed six innings of two-run ball in Game 1 — but in a Rays loss. Messick covered five innings and allowed three runs in Game 2 — but in a Guardians loss. With the series tied at two games apiece, Sunday's contest gave each frontline arm the tantalizing chance to push his club closer to the American League pennant.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Basketball league for the 2026-27 NBA season
For neutral observers hoping for maximum October drama, the blueprint for a best-case clash could be found in July, when Rasmussen and Messick traded blows in a 1-0 Rays victory at Tropicana Field. In that one, Messick allowed the lone run across 7 ⅔ innings while Rasmussen yielded just one hit across seven shutout frames. If a similar game were on tap Sunday — this time with supremely elevated stakes — that would mean a timely hit or two would be required to seize a narrow victory. But such visions of a repeat nailbiter enforced by these elite starters were quashed in a hurry.

After getting shut out in the first half, the Dallas Cowboys finally put up points on their first drive of the second half on a one-yard touchdown run from running back Javonte Williams, cutting the Green Bay Packers' lead to 17-7.
Here is a look at Williams' touchdown, courtesy of the NFL's official social media:
On Green Bay's opening drive of the second half, they were forced to punt. However, Dallas' defense struggled to stop the Packers on their second drive, including allowing a conversion on fourth and three and they would ultimately kick a field goal to make it 20-7 late in the third quarter. If the Cowboys cannot figure out a way to consistently stop this Green Bay offense, they are not going to be able to come back in this game.

Milania Giudice has changed her tone toward Mom Teresa Giudice after their heated clash at Tampa International Airport. Nearly two weeks after snapping at the RHONJ star, Milania publicly praised her mother and apologized. The public U-turn follows an uncomfortable family moment that quickly spread online. However, Milania's latest posts suggest she wants to move past the tension with Teresa.
According to Reality Blurb, Giudice shared several Instagram Story posts about Teresa on Oct. 6. One repost featured a message about appreciating how someone was raised and who raised them.
Giudice also added her own note for Teresa. "You are the best, sorry mother," she wrote. The message came after her heated clash with Teresa and her sister, Gia Giudice, at Tampa International Airport in September. She posted and later deleted a video of the tense exchange.
In the clip, Giudice repeatedly said, "This is what we do now," as she filmed her family and several law enforcement officers. Teresa responded by telling her daughter, "I love you." she then told her mother to "shut the f— up."
At the time, no one involved publicly explained what started the argument. Nevertheless, the brief video quickly drew attention from Real Housewives of New Jersey fans.

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly unleashed a tirade at Olivia Rodrigo on Monday (October 5), telling the pop star to "shut up and stick to singing" after she spoke out about the Cornell 7 case.
"Olivia, in sum, you don't know what the f*** you're talking about. Shut up and stick to singing," Kelly said on her SiriusXM show, per Variety. "I liked you better when you were in front of a microphone singing your weird little depressing songs."
On Sunday (October 4), Rodrigo shared a post on her Instagram Story supporting the Jane Doe at the center of the Cornell 7 lawsuit. "Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women," the "drivers license" singer wrote. "I stand with Jane Doe. Her bravery reverberates across the country and the crimes against her will not go unpunished."
She added, "What she lived through matters, and so does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change."
Rodrigo was talking about the lawsuit filed against Cornell University by an unnamed student, who accused seven men of raping and drugging her at a frat house party in October 2024. Her lawsuit claims that the university failed to protect her and instead protected the perpetrators.

Supporters have launched an online campaign in recent weeks aimed at protecting the identity of a woman, identified as "Jane Doe," who alleges in a civil lawsuit that she was drugged and raped by multiple members of a Cornell University fraternity in 2024.
Jane Doe's lawyer says that the ex-Cornell student has received "multiple threats" in recent days aimed at exposing her real identity.
"There are people out there trying to track her down," Thomas Giuffra, who ‌represents Jane Doe, told CNN's State of the Union on Sunday. "They said, 'We're gonna shut you up. You're gonna still get hurt by us. You're gonna pull this lawsuit out or we're gonna do something to hurt you even more.'
"The threats, the abuse to protect what's going on, the status quo — these guys are disgusting," Giuffra added.
Among those trying to identify Jane Doe is political commentator Michael Tracey, who publicly asked anyone with information about her identity to contact him and said he would publish her name and identifying details.

The pizza dining sector has been in a downsizing mode in 2026 with several chains closing numerous locations for a variety of reasons.
Some of the biggest and most popular chains, such as Pizza Hut and Papa John's, plan to close 100s for restaurants in 2006 to rid themselves of properties that have become a financial burden.
Boston-based pizza dining chain Bertucci's, which has filed for bankruptcy three times in the last eight years, has also closed dozens of locations.
Bertucci's most recently shuttered its last Washington, D.C.-area location with the closing of its Springfield, Va., restaurant at the end of September, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The 45-year-old pizza chain, which at one time had over 100 locations, has 11 remaining restaurants in Massachusetts, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson is keeping a close eye on the latest royal drama, with a source claiming she's looking to use the turmoil to her own advantage.
"Sarah is holding off on a book deal for now, figuring that by showing loyalty, or at least keeping her mouth shut, it's only fair that they cut her a break and help her with a path back towards respectability or, at the very least, a place to live," the source tells Examiner. "They don't need any more enemies."
As Examiner previously reported, King Charles III and Queen Camilla have both been enraged by the Tuesday, September 22 release of Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. In the tell-all, Princess Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, alleges the monarch "sounded giddily elated" after Di's 1997 death. The 62-year-old also claims Buckingham Palace denied the late Princess of Wales' funeral wishes.
Through an official statement released to Page Six, the king, 77, in an unprecedented move, suggested his former brother-in-law's account was clouded by "grief."
Days after the bombshell book hit shelves, Fergie, 66, shot down rumors she was writing her own memoir to People.

Prince William has a strong one-word nickname for Prince Harry and Charles Spencer. As per reports, the Prince of Wales was blindsided by the claims and allegations his uncle levied against King Charles and the royal family in his recent Princess Diana memoir. Spencer reportedly insists that he had informed William and Harry at the same time. However, multiple sources have alleged that the future king was furious upon learning the contents of the book.
Prince William is reportedly angry after learning that Prince Harry had prior knowledge of Charles Spencer's book. According to a source attached to Heat World, William has branded Harry and Spencer as "traitors". The source elaborated: "William is seeing this alliance that Harry has formed with their uncle and it's got him incensed and calling both Harry and Earl Spencer traitors."
The source explained that the Duke of Sussex has sided with his uncle amid his ongoing rift with the royal family. However, Harry has not publicly expressed support for Spencer or commented on the memoir. His silence has reportedly fueled William's frustration, according to the source.
The Prince of Wales reportedly suspects Harry had read the book and knew what Spencer planned to reveal. While Charles reportedly wants to move past the issue, William is said to be willing to confront his brother. According to Rob Shuter's report, both King Charles and William were surprised by the memoir's contents. Neither reportedly received an advance copy. However, a source claimed that Harry received a copy weeks before its official release.
William and King Charles reportedly learned about the memoir's more controversial claims as excerpts emerged publicly. Rob Shuter's source alleged that Spencer gave Harry preferential treatment over William. The source said: "Harry had the book weeks ago. Charles Spencer wanted Harry to understand exactly what he was going to say about Diana before the world read it. Harry was brought inside the circle. William was kept outside it."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's friend has reportedly suggested that the couple's recent romantic photos from their UK outing may carry a deeper meaning. The Duke and ***** ss of Sussex were recently photographed holding hands during a lunch date at a Cotswold pub. Notably, the outing marked the couple's first public appearance together since reportedly relocating back to the UK on August 26.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's friend told Rob Shuter that the photos from the couple's recent UK outing were taken with intention and purpose. For those unfamiliar, The Sun published exclusive images of the Sussexes on October 2, showing Harry and Meghan holding hands as they arrived at The Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds on October 1.
The couple opted for subtly coordinated dark-toned outfits, and both wore sunglasses during the outing. The "Suits" star wore an all-black ensemble with her hair loose, while the Duke of Sussex sported an olive-green fall jacket and a baseball cap.
The friend claimed, "This has Meghan's fingerprints all over it." The source explained that Markle is highly familiar with the worlds of media, photography, and publicity. According to the friend, she understood that the timing was right to send a pointed message to their critics and naysayers through the loved-up images.
A media insider also weighed in on the couple's recent UK outing, arguing that the paparazzi did not simply happen to capture the pair. Instead, the insider claimed that Harry and Meghan provided ample opportunities to be photographed.

Royal sources claim that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could meet King Charles again before Christmas. They state that this is not a casual get-together but a "deliberate" move on the monarch's part. This update comes a few months after the private reunion between King Charles, Camilla, and the Sussexes at Highgrove House.
Royal sources told Rob Shuter's Naughty but Nice that King Charles has reserved a meeting for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before Christmas. They added that the time, date, and location currently remain publicly undisclosed. "This is not a casual 'let's get together sometime. **** ody drops in on the King. If Harry and Meghan are in Charles's diary, it is because he wants them there. This is deliberate," the source added.
Another source emphasized the fact that this will be another meeting, and that's a notable thing. "Charles is making room for his son again, and Harry knows how significant that is," they added. While King Charles has displayed openness in terms of reconciliation, the source added that Prince William hasn't.
The source claims that Harry had tried to reach out to William but had met with no response. "There is no meaningful communication with William or Catherine. Charles is willing to move forward. William is not," they mentioned.
The Sussexes moved to the UK on August 26, leaving behind their Montecito home. They are currently living in a non-royal base, outside London. They aren't provided with taxpayer-funded security.

It reportedly didn't take Taylor Swift long to replace former BFF Blake Lively. The global pop star has recently been flaunting her friendship with actress Dakota Johnson, which Hollywood insider Rob Shuter is claiming has been "torture" for Lively.
Swift and Johnson appeared together at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27, where the Verity star presented the "Cleveland!" singer with the inaugural Artist Director Honors award. Johnson then hosted the October 3 episode of Saturday Night Live, and Swift crashed her monologue, jokingly appearing as her "literal therapist."
