In the season opener last fall, the Miami Hurricanes knocked off Notre Dame 27-24, in a highly contested battle.
It was a victory that propelled Miami all the way to the College Football Playoff **** le game, where they ultimately fell to Indiana. The Hurricane offense lost elite offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, quarterback Carson Beck, offensive linemen Markel Bell and Anez Cooper along with wide receiver CJ Daniels to the NFL draft. That's a good amount of talent gone from a pretty solid offense, but there are some that believe Miami will be better this fall.
Recently, 247Sports Brad Crawford was asked about the Hurricanes offensive outlook for this season and he thinks it will be the best offense they've had under head coach Mario Cristobal. He'd go on to say "I think this is the best transfer quarterback Miami has gotten … Darian Mensah, I think he should be the preseason Heisman frontrunner."
Crawford is high on the running backs and wide receivers, but one area where he's a bit concerned is on offensive line. "Maybe if there's one question Miami has … that would be it," as he noted the addition of 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
This game has been circled on Notre Dame's schedule since the heartbreaking loss last year, and revenge would be sweet. The Irish defense should be one of the best in the country, and should be able to neutralize the Hurricane attack.

We're almost there, Miami football fans. The Hurricanes take the field for the first time in the 2026 season this weekend, granted on a weird day for college football on the West Coast against ACC opponent Stanford.
That combination of words isn't as wild as last year's run through the College Football Playoff and all the way to the national championship game. Now Mario Cristobal is ready to secure the program's sixth ****** le with quarterback Darian Mensah and jack-of-all-trades receiver Malachi Toney as his big stars. The restructured defensive front built around run-stuffing defensive tackle Ahmad Moten and former Missouri edge rusher Damon Wilson has a lot to live up to.
They'll get their first test against Stanford, who opened last week with an exciting 37-27 win over Hawaii. Davis Warren, who missed last season after tearing his ACL with Michigan, threw for 310 yards and a touchdown in his debut with the Cardinal, while Micah Ford ran for three TDs and came just shy of 100 yards. This will be Miami's first game in California since East Coast fans woke up to find Cam Ward had led a thrilling 25-point second-half comeback in 2024 over Cal.

It was probably not a coincidence that at the exact four week mark when the puck drops on the new season, the Canes sent out a post with news on how fans will be able to watch the other 72 games that aren't on national TV this year.
The local entity broadcasting the games will be called the Hurricanes Hockey Network. It was also announced everyone that Hurricanes fans had come to enjoy on screen will officially be back for the 2026-27 season. Mike Maniscalco and Tripp Tracy had been announced prior, but the release made official that Shane Willis and Hanna Yates would also grace the screen during the broadcasts.
That Willis is back isn't a surprise as he was a Hurricanes employee already. Yates, however, is the news as prior to this season she was actually an employee not of the Hurricanes but of the entity that broadcast the games—Main Street Sports, last known by FanDuel Sports Network. For her to continue to appear on the broadcasts, she would have had to become a Hurricanes employee—something that was up in the air as Tom Dundon is known for being, shall we say, thrifty when it comes to the number of people he'll hire when he hast to.
That said it isn't that much of a narrative changer for Dundon. The release mentions that VP of Communications Mike Sundheim will add managing "all aspects of production, distribution, sales and marketing for HHN, in coordination with the National Hockey League." In short he'll still do all the work he did before and add more to his plate. Yates also will be doing more than just appearing on the broadcast as she added digital host to her **** le, so it's possible we'll see her a lot more on the official team videos that are sent out across social media platforms.
Unfortunately in terms of news, that was it for the communication and that leaves unanswered a huge question: how to watch? The only acknowledgement of how fans would be able to watch this new Hurricanes Hockey Network came at the bottom of the release:

The new era of Oklahoma State football begins on Saturday as the Pokes travel to Tulsa for their season opener.
OSU's 2025 season was one to forget. After winning just one game, its season opener against UT-Martin, the Cowboys fired legendary head coach Mike Gundy. The program hired former North Texas coach Eric Morris as his replacement, and Morris is starting a mostly new roster in the upcoming season.
The expectations are high, especially for this first game. OSU is seeking revenge after falling to the Golden Hurricane at home next season.
Here's how you can get tickets to the game:

Happy Monday, y'all. And…IT'S A MIAMI HURRICANES GAME WEEK!!!
The long offseason is over. We made it. So, that said, let's get to it.
1) Yes, we'll get to the Stanford game, but I wanted to get to something else first. What a day yesterday for drafted Miami Hurricanes in the NFL.
NINE players were drafted by NFL teams back in April. One of Miami's best draft days in a long time.
But, despite being drafted, you still have to earn a spot on the roster. And guess what? 8 of 9 Canes made their team's 53-man roster. EIGHT! And the ninth, Anez Cooper, was placed on injured reserve designated to return after a strong preseason. So, basically all nine made it. Even CJ Daniels, a Rams 7th round pick, made the team, who is the odds-on favorite to win it all this year.

An unprecedented crisis hit New Orleans in 2005. Hurricane Katrina had made landfall. The city was underwater. Chaos was taking over.
Nearly all of the city's residents were displaced, the players and staff of the University of New Orleans's baseball team among them. Many of them had nowhere to live, nowhere to go and no blueprint for what came next.
Privateers coach Tom Walter combed through his Rolodex, desperately looking for a place that would take the program in. UNO's season was hanging by a thread, and its salvation came from the last place Walter ever expected.
That place was New Mexico State.
"(Walter) was worried about the program not surviving it," said Rocky Ward, the Aggies' baseball coach from 1997-2000 and from 2003-14. "He told me, 'We need a cool location to take our kids.' And he thought Las Cruces might fill that bill.

Bill Belichick came to Ireland looking to change the narrative around his second UNC season, and he left with a different kind of headline.
North Carolina opened its season against TCU, the same team that handed the Tar Heels a lopsided 48-14 defeat last September. This time the storyline shifted before the final whistle. A new moment involving Belichick and a sideline reporter has fans talking for reasons that go beyond the scoreboard.
As North Carolina Tar Heels and TCU headed toward their locker rooms at halftime inside Dublin's Aviva Stadium, an ESPN reporter stepped into Belichick's path with a microphone, hoping for his read on the first two quarters. The 74-year-old coach did not slow down.
He kept walking toward the tunnel while she matched his pace beside him, and neither one raised their voice. There was no shove and no shouting match, just a coach who chose silence over a sound bite.

Notre Dame football has a fantastic 2027 recruiting class, with four 5-star commits in the 247Sports composite, but it could have been more and might still have a chance at adding another.
At one time it seemed like Florida linebacker Kaden Henderson would commit to the Irish, but ended up picking Texas A&M instead. It's the one position that Notre Dame has struggled with in the cycle, but it looks like there's potential to change Henderson's mind.
According to a report by 247Sports Cade Draughon (subscription required), Henderson told him "Miami and Notre Dame are the only schools that'll be talking to me still. But yeah, my recruitment is pretty set, pretty much shut down." While it's not a wide open door, it does seem like the elite linebacker hasn't completely ruled out a flip.
He's clearly still talking to the Irish and Hurricanes, which tend you to think there's at least a slight chance for him to flip. Notre Dame should continue to recruit Henderson, even if he does shut down, he's that good at a need position in the class.

Today, August 30, Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox is celebrating his 83rd birthday.
The Celtic legend scored 277 goals in 589 games for Celtic, and up until recently he was the club's most decorated player with 25 major honours. He has only recently been surpassed by Callum McGregor (26) and James Forrest (28).
Bobby's impressive roll of honour reads as 11 League ***** les, eight Scottish Cups, five League Cups and, of course, the European Cup when he was part of the legendary Celtic side which defeated Inter Milan in Lisbon's Estadio Nacional on May 25, 1967 to become the Kings of Europe.
And as the Celtic Family wishes Bobby a very happy birthday, we take a brief look at the incredible career of a legendary figure in Celtic's long and illustrious history…
Born in Saltcoats, Bobby was the farthest-flung of the Lisbon Lions – hence the ***** le of his autobiography – Thirty Miles from Paradise. Bobby, of course, has remained a Saltcoats Bhoy to this day. In his book, Bobby describes an almost idyllic childhood beside the sea and, apart from his six-month spell with Houston Hurricane in 1978, he has stayed in the town his entire life. 'I had a great upbringing,' he later told the Celtic View. 'We weren't the richest family in the world, but I didn't want for much, although all I really wanted was a ball at my feet anyway.'

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs are set to release rookie linebacker Wesley Bissainthe after the 2026 preseason.
Bissainthe joined Kansas City as an undrafted free agent earlier this year but failed to separate himself from his competition at Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph.
A former Miami Hurricane, Bissainthe earned third-team All-ACC honors after his outstanding 2025 campaign in the Magic City, and Schefter's report on his release indicated that the 22-year-old linebacker intends to return to college.
Take a look at Schefter's full report on Bissainthe, which was posted to Twitter on August 29:
It remains unclear if Bissainthe will take the field in NCAA competition this year, but the valuable experience he gained in Kansas City should serve him well as he looks to continue his career in professional football.

Where to watch Columbus vs. Bishop Gorman football: Channel, live stream, kickoff time for high school game originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A week after taking down the No. 1 team in the country, Bishop Gorman has ascended to the top spot and will travel cross-country for its next marquee game.
The Gaels' first game atop the MaxPreps national rankings will be in Miami on Saturday against Columbus, the perennial multi-sport powerhouse. The Explorers opened their season last week with a 45-7 rout of Southridge, while Gorman took down St. John Bosco 38-28.
Gorman's junior quarterback Ace Amina threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns last week, but the Gaels have plenty of star power on defense, too, including senior four-star corners Hayden Stepp (Oregon commit) and Kamil Loud (Cal).
The player to watch for Columbus is five-star athlete A'mir Sears, who is committed to the hometown Hurricanes as a corner but could also end up getting receiver reps in college.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a couple of weeks to their regular-season opener. That leaves Tampa Bay with roughly two-and-a-half weeks to manage any injuries before the regular-season opener. This reality drew widespread concerns after first-round pick Rueben Bain Jr. suffered a sprain during practice.
Fortunately, recent reports regarding Bain claim the Buccaneers have little to worry about. According to an NFL insider, the injury is considered "nothing serious," and Bain is expected to be available when Tampa Bay opens the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals next month.

Bain participated in Tuesday's joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars before sitting out Wednesday's session. While his absence naturally raised questions, the latest diagnosis on his AC joint sprain provides the Buccaneers with considerable relief, ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter reports.
AC joint sprains can be particularly uncomfortable for defensive linemen and linebackers because their positions require them to engage blockers and absorb contact with their shoulders. However, the current **** sment suggests Bain should have enough time to recover.

Aug. 29 marks 21 years since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005. I had gone to New Orleans expecting a fun weekend with my parents. Instead, I ended up trapped inside a hotel during one of the most devastating hurricanes in U.S. history.
At the time, I had no idea the experience would change the way I prepare for emergencies for the rest of my life. Katrina remains the costliest hurricane in U.S. history and one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history.
For me, though, the story began before the flooding. As Katrina grew stronger in the Gulf, I realized we needed to get out of New Orleans. I got my parents onto what I remember as the last flight out. My dad even offered me his ticket because I still had no way out. I told him to get on the plane. Then I headed to a rental car company. That plan fell apart fast.
There were about a hundred people there trying to do exactly what I was trying to do. So I eventually returned to the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans after being told it was extremely well-prepared for a hurricane. I was told it had upgraded windows, generator power and plenty of food. I should not have gone back.

In an unusual coincidence, a new storm forming in the Atlantic Ocean is set to be named "Dolly" on the heels of beloved country icon Dolly Parton's death
Forecasters say the storm has a 60 percent chance of forming this week
The National Hurricane Center has no plans to skip over the name
The next storm of this year's hurricane season is set to be named "Dolly" — and coincidentally, it could form on the heels of Dolly Parton's death.
The National Hurricane Center has a set number of lists, which include one pre-determined name for every letter of the alphabet, that are used on a rotational basis, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The days of Clemson dominating the ACC Championship appear to be over.
From 2015 to 2022, the Tigers won seven of eight ACC **** les during the peak of Dabo Swinney's dynasty at CU. But with the transfer portal upending the college football landscape and the ACC ending divisions at the start of the 2023 season, the conference **** le has opened up. The league has had a different winner each of the last three seasons, and last year's champion was its most shocking. Duke won its first ACC **** le in the conference-championship era after finishing the 2025 regular season at 7-5 and winning the five-way tiebreaker for second place.
This season should be a lot different for the ACC. For starters, the conference redid its tiebreaker policy in the event of another logjam. On the field, the conference seems to be a one-horse race. According to FanDuel, the Hurricanes are the odds-on favorite to win the ACC at -150, the highest odds to win a P4 conference (Texas Tech is -105 to win the Big 12). However, a second tier has plenty of firepower and is looking to upset Miami. Louisville and SMU, each ranked in the AP Preseason top 25, are tied for second to win the ACC at +750. Although SMU returns starting QB Kevin Jennings, both teams must replace a majority of starters from their nine-win seasons in 2025, but they should be two of the more high-powered offenses in college football this season.
Behind SMU and UL, Clemson sits at +1600 after finally utilizing the portal in the offseason. However, they are starting a quarterback with only one collegiate start under his belt, Christopher Vizzina, who backed up Cade Klubnik for the last three years.
If Miami did not win the ACC this season, it would be a shock. After going to the national championship last year, Mario Cristobal did an excellent job blending his lineup, full of returning starters and high-value transfers.

HONOLULU (AP) — Communities still recovering from last weekend's hurricane in Hawaii could get pounded again in coming days from another tropical system gaining strength over warm Pacific waters.
Hurricane Lala tore roofs off houses, uprooted trees, covered roads in mud and rocks and left many households without electricity. With thousands of homes and businesses still in the dark Thursday, forecasters warned yet another tropical cyclone is likely to approach the islands soon.
A depression moving west and northwest could become a tropical storm in the coming hours and pass near or south of Hawaii's Big Island over the weekend or early next week, the U.S. Central Pacific Hurricane Center said. That system could dump up to 15 inches (38 centimeters) of rain on the Big Island and trigger life-threatening flooding, mudslides and rip currents, it added.
Forecasters said the disturbance had top sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and was located at midday Thursday about 900 miles (1,445 kilometers) east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii.
"There's definitely tension in the air'' at the thought of more rain in communities that floodwaters turned into rivers, said Tiffany Edwards Hunt, a teacher living in Keaau, on the east side of the Big Island. "There were some areas that were completely washed out."

On the recruiting front, the ACC — Miami aside — has not been as prevalent as the SEC or Big Ten. The Hurricanes are the only ACC team with a top-15 class in the 2027 Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Of the 300 prospects featured in Rivals' latest update of the Rivals300 for the senior cycle, 51 of them are currently committed to an ACC school. Twelve of the 17 league members have at least one Rivals300 pledge in their 2027 class, as of Aug. 20.

Four-star defensive lineman Jamarcus Johnson, a 2028 prospect, took a game visit last September to see Florida State when they beat the Kent State Golden Flashes. That trip came four days after he got a scholarship offer from the Seminoles.
The 6-foot-5, 308-pounder has seven game visits locked in for the upcoming season. He doesn't have one set up to go to Tallahassee, but he will see FSU on Oct. 17 when they play the Miami Hurricanes on the road, per Brendan Sonnone of 247Sports. He'll also travel to see the Baylor Bears (Sept. 5), Ohio State Buckeyes (Sept. 12), Texas A&M Aggies (Oct. 24), Oklahoma Sooners (Nov. 7), LSU Tigers (Nov. 21), and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Nov. 28).
Johnson is the No. 42 recruit in the country and the No. 5 defensive lineman per 247Sports composite rankings. He's ranked as the state of Georgia's No. 7 prospect as well.
At the moment, Johnson has 15 offers. However, he has named eight schools in particular that have established themselves as the leaders in his recruitment, and this list includes FSU.
"Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Miami, LSU, Georgia and Alabama, and Florida State," Johnson said.

The price of building a college football roster continues to climb, but Florida State football is not operating near the top of the market entering a critical 2026 season.
According to roster-spending estimates compiled by CBS Sports' Chris Hummer and John Talty, Florida State sits in the $20 million to $29 million tier for its 2026 football roster. More specifically, the report described the Seminoles as sitting only slightly above the $20 million threshold, putting FSU near the bottom of that spending range.
CBS Sports surveyed more than 50 athletic directors, general managers, personnel executives, agents, cap experts and boosters with knowledge of roster spending, then cross-checked those figures with sources from the same conferences and geographic regions. Programs were separated into four tiers: more than $40 million, $30 million to $39 million, $20 million to $29 million and less than $20 million.
That methodology is important because college football still lacks the financial transparency found in professional leagues. A separate survey of general managers at the 2026 Personnel Symposium produced an average Power Four roster cost of $22.5 million, though the report noted that several major spenders were not included and some responses were believed to understate actual costs.
Within the ACC, the Miami Hurricanes stand alone in the $40 million-plus category. No conference program was placed between $30 million and $39 million.

Aug 16 (Reuters) - More than 180,000 utility customers remained without power across Hawaii on Sunday afternoon after Hurricane Lala brushed the Big Island before being downgraded to a tropical storm.
Some 183,123 customers across Hawaii were without power as of 3:30 p.m. HST (0130 GMT), according to poweroutage.us.Outages in Oahu, the most populated island, had dropped from more than 220,000 to about 130,000 as of Sunday morning, state officials said during a press conference.
State officials received reports of at least 100 homes damaged, Hawaii Governor Josh Green said on Sunday.
At 2 p.m. HST (0000 GMT) Lala was moving west toward southwest Kauai County at about 20 mph (31 kph) with maximum sustained winds near 65 mph, just below the hurricane threshold of 73 mph, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center. A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Kauai county, although those warnings for Maui and Oahu counties were discontinued earlier on Sunday, according to the hurricane center.

Aug 15 (Reuters) - Hurricane Lala approached Hawaii with strong winds and heavy rain on Saturday, leaving more than 40,000 utility customers without power across the state as the National Hurricane Center warned of "life-threatening" conditions.
The poweroutage.com website showed 42,889 customers without power as of 2:14 p.m. HST (0014 GMT on Sunday) in Hawaii, including 31,792 on the Big Island and 7,203 in Maui County, which includes the islands of Maui, Lanai and Molokai.
An advisory from the hurricane center at 2 p.m. HST predicted 10 to 20 inches (25.4 to 51 cm) of rain on the Big Island, and possibly up to 25 inches there, as well as 8 to 12 inches in eastern Maui and 4 to 6 inches in western Maui.
"This rainfall will produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain," the center said.

As Hurricane Lala drenched parts of the Hawaiian Islands, the calm remained at sunny Father Bray Athletic Complex.
By 1:30 p.m., Edison kicked off to host 'Iolani, and the Chargers from Huntington Beach, Calif., put a jolt into the Raiders with a 41-27 win at Eddie Hamada Field. Sam Thomson threw three touchdown passes, while running backs Brett Dempsen and Gavyn Degiacomo combined for 183 yards and three TDs on 21 carries.
It was a 27-0 lead before the home team began to find its footing. Edison played a mix of reserves and starters from beginning to end. 'Iolani coach Patrick Samsonas found solace in his team's in-game resilience.
"I feel wet. It's a wet game," he said of the gusty, rainy conditions by game's end. We battled in the second and that was the test. They answered some of the calls. That's a really good team in the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation). I'm proud of our guys for battling. We've got a bye week before we get another mainland team."
'Iolani (1-1) hosts Westview (San Diego) on Aug. 29.

SUNRISE, Fla. — From little league football to the national championship, Linda Fletcher has never missed one of her son's games.
She is always in the stands when her son, Mark Fletcher Jr., takes the field for the Hurricanes. But she is afraid of flying, so Fletcher has spent the past three years driving to each UM game, whether that means a short trip from her Broward County home to Hard Rock Stadium or a cross-country trip to California's Bay Area in a rental car.
"That was a really big deal, coming from Fort Lauderdale," Fletcher said. "I had never been to California before. And then now it's like, I've been to Texas so many times, I could drive there with my eyes closed. But, yeah, all those trips, we have made it very fun."
This year, Fletcher and her family will be traveling in style. She teamed with Miami legend Michael Irvin's production company, Playmaker Production Group, which gifted her a personalized RV in connection with Fun Town RV. She will get to drive the new RV to each of the Hurricanes' games this year as part of their new web series, "Fetching Fletchers."
Fletcher said she flagged down Irvin when he was on the sideline at a Miami game last year. They talked about her travels, and she said it would only be better if she had an RV. Luckily for her, Irvin knew the owner of the RV company.

The Florida State Seminoles are taking their search for talent in the 2028 recruiting cycle to the state of Texas. On Friday, four-star wide receiver Damarion Mays announced his offer from the Seminoles.
"#AGTG blessed to have received an offer from Florida State," Mays said on social media.
He is ranked as the nation's No. 111 overall recruit and the No. 16 wide receiver in 247Sports composite rankings. He's listed as the No. 12 prospect in the state of Texas as well.
Mays made his name known as a freshman at Life Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas. He registered 68 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging an amazing 24.1 yards per catch. Plus, he added 164 kickoff return yards. As a sophomore, Mays played at North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas. He had another very productive season with 54 receptions for 843 yards and 11 scores. He averaged 15.6 yards per catch.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder has garnered around 40 scholarship offers due to his performance in his first two years of high school, which will make FSU's pursuit of him a challenging one. Mays also has offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, and more.

Thanks to the Jayden Daniels gripe with LSU over his old No. 5 jersey going to Tigers cornerback DJ Pickett, there's a new meme that's being used by fans and teams, and it's spreading quickly.
As you'll recall, Daniels' attorney sent a cease-and-desist letter over LSU using his name, image and likeness, and a Daniels spokesperson said that it was over "LSU's decision to give Jayden's number to another player."
So now you have admins and other folks on social media making similar jokes about the No. 5 being eliminated from various places, from lines on a football field to hurricane categories. Here's a roundup with a sampling of what it looks like:
Will this last into the season when Daniels begins the regular season for the Washington Commanders? We'll see.

Miami running back Jordan Lyle has been charged with a felony count of fleeing/eluding police and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving, according to the Broward County state attorney's office in Florida.
A state attorney official said Friday that Lyle voluntary surrendered to police on Thursday. Court records show he was released after posting bond the same day.
The arrest warrant was filed by police in Sunrise, Florida, but other details of what happened weren't immediately available.
The university released a statement saying it is aware "of an incident involving student-athlete Jordan Lyle" and would not have any further comment because it is a legal matter.
The 20-year-old Lyle is entering his junior season and expected to compete for a key role in the Hurricanes' offense behind senior Mark Fletcher. A nagging ankle injury limited Lyle to 35 carries for 108 yards and a TD in six games last season.

Miami junior running back Jordan Lyle was arrested on Thursday on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement, according to court records in Broward County, Florida.
The aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement are each felony complaints. Lyle also faces a misdemeanor complaint of reckless driving.
"We are aware of an incident involving student-athlete Jordan Lyle," a University of Miami spokesperson said in a statement on Friday, via the Miami Herald. "As due legal process runs its course, we will have no further comment at this time."
Lyle, 20, was booked into the Broward Main Jail of the Sheriff's Office on an arrest warrant from the Sunrise Police Department and was released later in the day. The charges against Lyle carry a combined $55,000 bond.
Last season as a sophomore, Lyle rushed for 108 yards and 1 touchdown on 35 carries. He was limited to six games due to a high ankle sprain suffered in the Hurricanes' season-opening 27-24 win over Notre Dame. As a freshman, Lyle compiled 400 rushing yards on 54 carries with 4 TDs.
