Players rarely get fined during the preseason, but it does happen. One instance of that came this past week when the NFL fined Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tytus Howard.
He was fined $12,537 for what they described as unnecessary roughness during the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Howard got a 15-yard penalty for tripping on the play he was fined for. Pro Football Talk reported the news of the fine.
Howard is in his first year with the Browns after being traded from the Houston Texans for a fifth-round pick.
He is one piece of an offensive line that has four new starters in 2026. Howard is joined by top draft pick Spencer Fano, who plays the opposite tackle spot. The interior is made up of Teven Jenkins, Zion Johnson, and Elgton Jenkins.

Day 12 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Tuesday, August 11. The quarterback battle continued on, with everyone looking more comfortable as practices go on.
1. I Guess There Was Never Much Doubt: One of the biggest positions of debate heading into training camp was the offensive line, specifically from center to right tackle. However, it hasn't ended up being much to debate. Elgton Jenkins has been exclusively at center, and Tytus Howard has stuck to right tackle. Today, head coach Todd Monken indicated that right guard is the only spot still in competition, and that the veteran Teven Jenkins has the upper hand.
2. As for the Backups: One depth chart change caught the eye of the media today: Austin Barber was at left tackle on the second unit, while Dawand Jones was at right tackle.
3. Drill of the Day: Here is a fun drill where the defensive line pass rushes around the edge, but then works back toward a screen to try to dislodge it.
4. Early Interception: QB Deshaun Watson was first up as the quarterback today, and early on, he overthrew a pass that was picked off by CB Tyron Herring.

NFL **** yst Warren Sharp continues his vendetta against the Cleveland Browns, evidenced by his most recent ranking of the Cleveland offensive line.
On Wednesday, Sharp released his 2026 ranking of the NFL's offensive lines based on what he believes will happen in the 2026 season. This is purely a guess, and from the looks of it, he doesn't have high hopes for the Browns. Now, he presented no criteria, so this is an argument on his opinion of one of the most turned over groups in the entire league.
The Browns' starting five on September 5th will be completely different from the starting five from week one of the 2025 season. The Browns addressed their issues in every possible. They traded for Tytus Howard, signed Elgton Jenkins and Zion Johnson, and drafted Spencer Fano and Parker Brailsford.
If the dream scenario were accomplished, it would be those five as the starters. That will all get sorted out throughout training camp over the next couple of months. Regardless of how it all shakes out, Cleveland's offensive line, while on paper it is much improved, is still a major question mark.
Ranking them 32nd seems to be a bit aggressive, but it certainly cannot be ruled out.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry delivered on his promise to make a “heavy investment” in the offense during the recently completed off-season.
Berry rebuilt the entire offensive line, highlighted by first-round selection Spencer Fano at left tackle, along with veteran additions Tytus Howard, Elgton Jenkins, and Zion Johnson. And, for good measure, they added tackle Austin Barber and center Parker Brailsford later in the draft.
The pass catchers also received an extreme makeover with the selections of wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston and tight ends Joe Royer and Carsen Ryan, to go with incumbents Jerry Jeudy and Harold Fannin Jr.
Put all those together with returning running backs Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson and Raheim Sanders, and the Browns appear to have a solid core on offense. They may not be fully unlocked until Berry solves the quarterback position in 2027 (or later, since this is still the Browns), but, overall, it looks like the Browns are on track.
While the offense appears to be on the upswing, it is fair to ponder who will still be on the roster when the Browns pull up stakes and move to their new stadium in Brook Park for the start of the 2029 season.

Most of the focus for the Houston Texans on offense comes from the trenches. Houston struggled to find consistency in both run blocking and pass protection down the stretch last season, which certainly derailed any chance of a postseason push.
But the Texans fixed those woes on paper this offseason with the trade of Tytus Howard and the signings of Wyatt Teller and Braden Smith. Just for good measure, Houston added more depth to the trenches with the selections of Georgia Tech's Keylan Rutledge in Round 1 and Oklahoma's Febechi Nwaiwu on Day 3.
Ok, so what's the problem? Well, now everyone will turn to the faults of the supporting cast around Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Is the trio of Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins and Dalton Schultz good enough to keep the Texans in contention? How about the run game headlined by newcomer David Montgomery? Is there at least a chance that the old Tank Dell could become a staple in the passing game?
On paper, no, at least not according to ESPN's Bill Barnwell, who listed the Texans' weaponry of tight ends, running backs and wide receivers at No. 24 out of 32 entering the 2026 season.
