Alex Dougherty has said, "Social media saved me."
He's the oldest of 11 kids and part of one of the most popular families on the internet, known as the Dougherty Dozen by their 7.8 million TikTok followers.
Like many people, his mom, Alicia, joined TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic. She began posting about their extra-large family in 2020, when Alex was 14.
The appeal is simple: Viewers want to see what raising so many children is like, from the everyday to the extraordinary challenges. Seven of the Dougherty kids are adopted, and six have been diagnosed with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Over time, viewers have gotten to know each kid as they grow up.

US actor Tom Cruise has surprised a British man who spent a year completing a series of extreme sporting challenges to raise money for charity.
Lloyd Kembrey, a facilities manager at the University of Bristol, took on the challenges to fundraise for children's hospice charity Jessie May.
His connection to the charity was born from his twin cousins, Francesca and Josephine, who were diagnosed with the life-limiting condition Sanfilippo disease type A when they were three-and-a-half years old. Both died in their teens.
Kembrey was inspired to undertake a number of exhilarating challenges in order to honour their memory and support other families facing similar circumstances.
The challenges he faced included a 31-mile ice skating ultramarathon in Finland, climbing the height of Mount Everest on a climbing wall and a 94-mile hike along southern England's Jurassic Coast.

Keke Palmer isn't interested in the internet's "mom-shaming."
The actress, singer and television host is speaking up about the pressures parents face online, where everything from car seats to kids' diets can bring unwanted criticism, without accounting for the lack of resources or varying challenges some families may face.
As flu and cold season approaches, she spoke with USA TODAY about her partnership with Beyfortus (nirsevimab), a preventive non-vaccine antibody shot for respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, and how she takes preventative measures to protect the health of her 3-year-old son, Leo.
Respiratory syncytial virus is a common and easily spread virus that peaks during colder months. While most cases are mild, severity is unpredictable. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2% to 3% of infants under 6 months are hospitalized with RSV every year.
Palmer also opened up about motherhood, modeling healthy habits for her son and why she believes parents should have these open conversations without judging one another's choices.

In a first for the Kennedy Center Honors, the annual event will not take place at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts this year. Instead, the 49th Kennedy Center Honors will be held at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, DC, a venue with a significantly larger capacity of 20,000. Deadline reports that the ceremony will happen off-site on December 7, with the event's broadcasting partner to be announced later, according to a center spokesperson. The venue change isn't especially surprising. The center has been the subject of dispute for the past couple of years thanks to self-appointed chairman Donald Trump, who threatened to demolish the building unless his name was added to the exterior. His name was added in December 2025, and the addition has been consistently challenged in court for legal reasons. After a judge ruled that he couldn't just slap his name on the front of it, the waterfront center's main building was abruptly closed to the public because of purported structural damage and safety concerns that prompted renovations.
At the 2025 event, which was hosted by Trump, George Strait, KISS, Michael Crawford, Gloria Gaynor, and Sylvester Stallone were honored for their lifetime achievements in the arts. The CBS broadcast of the awards hit an all-time low in ratings, according to TheWrap. The honorees for this year's Kennedy Center Honors haven't been announced yet. Maybe Tom Cruise, who reportedly declined the honor last year due to scheduling conflicts, might get a second chance this time.

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Vice President JD Vance acknowledged Thursday that Republicans face an “uphill climb” in next month’s midterm elections — and that the results may be a data point he reviews as he decides whether to run for president in 2028.
“Historically there’s always a bit of an uphill climb, and I think you definitely sense that,” Vance said in an interview with NBC News. “I also think you can sense a sense of cautious optimism, in the sense that, you know, people feel like the numbers are sort of moving, maybe in our direction.”
He added: “Politically, there’s just a recognition that it’s always going to be hard to win a midterm when you have the White House, the Senate and the House.”
Vance spoke aboard Air Force Two shortly after it landed on a return trip from Lakeland, Florida, where he campaigned for Sen. Ashley Moody and Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for governor. It was his latest headlining gig at a rally meant to boost support for the party’s candidates in what is expected to be a challenging year for the GOP.
Aside from the historical trends Vance mentioned, polls have shown President Donald Trump and the war in Iran highly unpopular among voters. A related rise in gas prices has added to a cascade of affordability concerns. And Americans are growing more skeptical of artificial intelligence and the large, power-hungry data centers being built to accommodate the technology. All of those issues could factor into voters’ choices in this fall’s key races for the House, the Senate and governor.

This week, we're turning the lens back to the early 2000s — when pop culture icons defined a generation — tracing the journeys of some beloved stars who've largely stepped back from the Hollywood glare. From dramatic career pivots and meaningful personal challenges to unexpected comebacks, here's a look at the stories behind the faces you once couldn't escape on your screen.
MEGA
Once famed for her bubbly on-screen persona and stunning box-office success, Cameron Diaz stepped away from acting at the peak of her career to focus on her family and personal ventures, per The Hollywood Reporter. Always stylish, Diaz became just as celebrated for her off-screen life, including authoring two best-selling health books — The Body Book reached the No. 1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list shortly after its release in 2014, as reported by Audible.
MEGA
Amanda Bynes was a comedy sensation and one of the most beloved young actresses of her generation, starring in hit TV shows and films that defined youth culture. She first rose to prominence on Nickelodeon's All That at just 10 years old before landing her own series, The Amanda Show, per Today. Despite fame and awards, her later years brought struggles with mental health and a shift away from the spotlight, including a nearly decade-long conservatorship that was terminated by a judge in 2022, according to Salon. Bynes' journey has resonated with many, offering a reminder of resilience and the challenges of child stardom.

Los Angeles County judge granted a temporary restraining order against Olivier Martinez for abusing his ex-wife, Halle Berry, as per the allegations made by the French actor. According to him, Halle Berry choked their 12-year-old son, Maceo, during a fight between them at her house.
In court documents that were initially disclosed to TMZ, 60-year-old Olivier alleges that 60-year-old Berry physically attacked their son in a violent manner on September 26. Also, he is requesting custody rights over the minor. Berry's lawyer describes the court document as being baseless.
According to the filing, Berry entered Maceo's room while he was playing virtual reality games and became furious because he looked "stupid" for playing. Martinez said Berry's fiancé, musician Van Hunt, was at their place during the altercation.
It is alleged in the documents that the fight became violent as Berry hopped onto their son, grabbed him around the neck, and started strangling him. Meanwhile, she was saying, "Who is dominant now?" The filing alleges that Maceo later called his father to tell him what happened.
It is also alleged that the following day, Berry texted Olivier that she felt "terrible" about the entire episode.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to review a Trump administration policy denying bond hearings for immigrants as the government carries out a sweeping crackdown.
The justices will consider whether immigrants who have been living in the U.S. have a right to a hearing to determine if they should remain detained while challenging their possible deportation.
The case will test a key pillar of the Trump administration's hard-line immigration agenda.
Most appeals courts to have considered the issue have found that it violates federal law to detain immigrants, including those living in the U.S. illegally, without a bond hearing. Those decisions conflict with rulings by the 5th and 8th circuits, which held that immigrants accused of illegally entering and remaining in the U.S. must be detained while their deportation cases are pending.
The high court agreed to hear the case of Ricardo Aparecido Barbosa da Cunha, a citizen of Brazil. Authorities say he entered the United States illegally two decades ago and applied for asylum in 2016. He sought a bond hearing after an immigration judge determined that his detention was mandatory following his September 2025 arrest.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas gave their children a candid introduction to Hollywood before Dylan and Carys pursued careers in entertainment. The actress says they shared the industry's "horror stories" to see whether their children's enthusiasm would hold up against its less glamorous realities. But theater camps, college productions and auditions kept calling. Now, Zeta-Jones is watching both children pursue the work they love, while finding a stronger voice of her own at 57.

In an interview with AARP Movies for Grownups, Zeta-Jones explained how she and Douglas approached their children's interest in following them into show business. "We told them all the [Hollywood] horror stories to see if their passion for the art and the craft was genuine," she said.
Zeta-Jones also acknowledged how challenging it can be to build a sustainable career in entertainment. "It's a very small percentage of our business that can really make a living out of doing what we love. But they certainly do love it," the actress said.

Hellmich had "used forged documents and a false email address" purporting to belong to Campbell, the tribunal ruled.

When Christmas rolls around, my wife puts out a very small tree and some stuffed ornaments we bought a few years ago at Target. That's a pretty modest approach to decorating for the holidays compared to many of our neighbors.
At the house we just moved out of, some homes added tasteful lights, others opted for religious displays, and a few opted for a whole lot of inflatables. In some cases, the spending was significant, although many of the items were reused year after year.
Decorations are a small but meaningful part of holiday spending.
Americans planned to spend an average of $1,172 on travel, $632 on gifts, $351 on entertaining, and $227 on decorations, according to a BMO survey conducted before the 2024 holiday season.
Getting those items may be more of a challenge this year, as Gordon Companies, which runs a number of Christmas-themed websites and lists Target, Kohl's, Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, Lowe's, and Michaels as retail partners, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

On September 9, 2026, Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) reported its first quarterly results as a public company, with total revenue up 10% year over year to $208 million and same-store sales accelerating to 2.3% growth from 1.7% in the prior quarter. It was primarily driven by transaction growth even as the restaurant industry faced weak traffic trends. Net income fell to $37 million from $59 million a year earlier. It showed non-routine expenses, advertising fund timing, and higher interest costs following the company's July initial public offering, partially offset by a $14 million gain on the sale of corporate-owned stores.
Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) is gaining customers while its brand remains a major competitive advantage. The firm added 83 stores in the second quarter. It grew its customer base and increased systemwide sales 10% to $1.21 billion. Jersey Mike's also earned the No. 1 ranking among U.S. quick-service restaurant brands in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, surpassing Chick-fil-A after 11 consecutive years at the top. It gives the newly public company a strong foundation for continued customer and franchisee growth.
The business has substantial whitespace for long-term unit growth. Jersey Mike's ended the quarter with 3,378 locations and maintains a domestic development pipeline of more than 1,600 stores, with more than 90% of that pipeline coming from existing franchisees. Management estimates that the U.S. market could eventually support roughly 7,500 locations and sees potential to reach approximately 15,000 stores globally. It gives the business a long runway for franchise-led revenue and royalty growth.
Digital engagement and transaction growth give Jersey Mike's more avenues to increase sales. Digital sales represented 43% of systemwide sales in the second quarter, up from 41% a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 2.3% mainly because customers placed more transactions. Jersey Mike's also had more than 12.5 million active MyMike's loyalty members in 2025. It provides the company with a large customer database that it can use to increase frequency and personalize marketing as it expands.
Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) still faces a significant profitability challenge despite its revenue growth. Second-quarter revenue jumped 10% to $208 million. However, net income fell 37% to $37 million from $59 million a year earlier. Management attributed part of the decline to advertising-fund timing and higher interest expense. It shows that revenue growth has not yet translated into comparable bottom-line growth for shareholders.

On September 8, 2026, Reuters reported that Paramount Skydance Corporation (NASDAQ:PSKY) said California Attorney General Rob Bonta made television statements that contradict his own legal arguments against Paramount's request for a $1.88 billion bond in the ongoing court fight over its roughly $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBD).
Bonta's office has argued the bond is unnecessary because Paramount voluntarily agreed to pause the deal's closing rather than wait for a court injunction. But Paramount described that same pause as equivalent to an injunction in media interviews, which it argues legally requires the states to post a bond under antitrust law. A hearing is scheduled for September 24.
Paramount Skydance Corporation (NASDAQ:PSKY) could protect a significant portion of its financial position if the court grants its $1.88 billion bond request. Paramount says the delay could cost it about $1.3 billion in fees to Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders by the time the case concludes in April 2027. A bond would give Paramount a potential path to recover those losses if it ultimately defeats the states' challenge. It reduces the financial damage from a prolonged legal process.
Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBD) is receiving financial protection from the transaction's delay through Paramount's ticking fees. Paramount agreed to pay WBD shareholders approximately $7 million per day starting October 1 if the transaction does not close, creating a growing payment obligation for Paramount. It is also providing WBD shareholders with compensation for waiting. The arrangement gives WBD a financial benefit from the prolonged closing process even as the companies await a final legal resolution.
The legal dispute has not eliminated the strategic rationale for combining the two media companies. Paramount argues that the merger would strengthen the film and television industry and lead to more content while giving the combined company greater scale to compete with Netflix and Disney. For Paramount, completing the acquisition would speed up David Ellison's plan to build a larger media competitor. WBD shareholders would receive the transaction consideration rather than remain exposed to the company's standalone turnaround.

On September 3, 2026, lululemon athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 results for the period ended August 2, 2026. Net revenue fell 4% to $2.4 billion, missing the $2.46 billion ****** ysts expected, and comparable sales dropped 10% on a constant dollar basis. Management cut full-year revenue guidance to a decline of 5% to 7%, down from a prior forecast of flat to down 1%, and lowered full-year earnings per share guidance to $9.48 to $9.73 from its prior forecast of $10.95 to $11.15, compared with $13.26 earned in fiscal 2025. Shares fell about 18% in extended trading. Incoming CEO Heidi O'Neill was set to start the following week.

Citi's cut to $117 from $130 came with a Neutral rating and the observation that the stock's risk-reward is "slightly more favorable" after the selloff, even though the firm called fiscal 2027 visibility "very unclear." The operational bright spots are real.
lululemon athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) increased its chase volume, the supply chain capability that lets it reorder fast-moving styles quickly, by about 20% this year, and away-from-body styles including the Groove Wide-Leg, Align Foldover Jogger, Breezily, and an updated Dance Studio Pant are trending well as shoppers shift from tight-fitting leggings. The brand's community pull held up too.
The SeaWheeze Half Marathon and Festival returned in August for the first time since 2019, drawing nearly 10,000 runners from 24 countries and roughly 14,000 festival attendees, while more than 85,000 people from 120 countries joined the companion Strava challenge, strong enough that Lululemon already committed to bringing the event back next summer. Rest of World revenue, spanning EMEA and APAC, grew 5% on a reported basis, and the company ended the quarter with $1.4 billion in cash and no outstanding borrowings.

On September 9, 2026, Reuters reported that AI music startup Suno launched a new suite of models, including its flagship v6 and exploratory v6-Wild, built in partnership with Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) and BMG. It lets users make new music inspired by licensed recordings from participating artists. The launch follows Warner Music's copyright lawsuit settlement with Suno in November 2025, under which artists and songwriters can opt in to have their names, voices, and compositions used in AI-generated music in exchange for compensation.
Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) can turn the Suno litigation dispute into a new licensing revenue opportunity. Suno has now launched its v6 models in partnership with Warner Music and BMG. It allows users to make music inspired by licensed works from participating artists. Warner previously sued Suno over copyright issues before reaching a licensing agreement. This gives the label a direct path to monetize AI-generated music rather than relying solely on litigation. The deal could create a new revenue stream as consumers increasingly adopt AI music tools.
Warner enters the AI-music market from a position of financial strength. The firm reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $5.44 billion, up 9% year over year. Adjusted OIBDA increased 16% to $433 million, and its adjusted OIBDA margin expanded to 23.2%. Warner also said it had met or exceeded its financial targets for five consecutive quarters. That basic growth gives the company greater flexibility to invest in AI initiatives while using licensing agreements to add another potential growth driver to its existing streaming and publishing businesses.
Warner could help establish a more sustainable commercial model for AI-generated music. Suno said future products will include opt-in experiences that allow individual artists to participate and receive payment when users generate music around them. So Warner has an opportunity to help shape licensing and compensation practices as Spotify and other platforms develop their own AI-music products. If the industry increasingly adopts licensed models, Warner's large catalog and relationships with artists could solidify its negotiating position and create recurring AI-related revenue.
Suno's new licensing model does not eliminate the overall legal risks surrounding AI music. Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) has reached an agreement with Suno, but other copyright owners are challenging the firm's technology. Independent publisher Round Hill sued Suno in August, alleging that the company used copyrighted songs to train its AI system. Suno also faces separate litigation from Universal Music Group and Sony Music. Hence, lawsuits could increase legal costs and create uncertainty over the licensing framework that Warner hopes to monetize.

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang is challenging the people warning that AI could end humanity, suggesting their alarming predictions may serve another purpose.
Speaking with CBS News, Huang rejected the 'AI apocalypse' debate and questioned the motives behind those spreading that fear, adding a sharper edge to an increasingly public industry split.
OpenAI and Anthropic leaders, alongside Elon Musk, have backed calls to slow advanced AI development over safety concerns and fears that the technology might be advancing quicker than companies can control it, as reported by Financial Times.
For Nvidia investors, that debate carries financial weight. Shares have returned 20% year-to-date and 23% over the six months, according to Seeking Alpha data.
A coordinated slowdown could complicate the spending boom supporting its chip business. Huang's response, however, reaches beyond defending continued investment.

Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has constructed an artificial intelligence (AI) empire over the past few years. The company sells the world's most powerful AI chips, known as graphics processing units (GPUs), and an entire portfolio of related tools that are generating triple-digit growth and record levels of revenue.
Investors have piled into Nvidia stock to gain access to this incredible growth story, and so far, they've scored a major win. The stock has soared about 800% over the past five years. But, in recent times, investors have worried about one particular challenge: competition. Though Nvidia remains in the lead, a number of companies also sell AI chips -- and these products are becoming more powerful with each update.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our ***** ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
These players include chip companies like Advanced Micro Devices as well as broader tech giants like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN). All of this has prompted some investors to pause before getting in on Nvidia stock at this stage of the AI story. Nvidia stock has climbed about 14% this year, which isn't a big leap for this stock.
Just recently, however, some bright news emerged during Amazon's earning call. In fact, these 15 words from Amazon chief Andy Jassy may eliminate Nvidia's biggest risk.

Investing in high-yield dividend stocks can be a solid portfolio move and give investors some nice supplemental income. However, not all dividend stocks are created equal. Two dividend stocks I'd be buying now are Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ), while one I would avoid is Pfizer (NYSE: PFE).
Let's take a closer look at each, starting with why I'd avoid investing in Pfizer.

At one point, Pfizer was as blue chip of a pharmaceutical company as there was. However, the stock's 6.2% yield and cheap valuation reflect a company facing challenges ahead.
Pfizer took on significant debt when it acquired Seagen for $43 billion in December 2023 to strengthen its oncology portfolio. That has left the company with over $60 billion in debt and high interest expenses. The company paid out $9.7 billion in dividends last year while generating $9.1 billion in free cash flow, so it paid out more in dividends than it generated in cash. That has continued through the first six months of 2026.

On Holding's (ONON) entry into the soccer category through a partnership with World Cup champion Kylian Mbappé marks the latest step for the company as it aims to tread its own path as a premium global sports brand.
The Swiss sportswear company signed Mbappé, whose contract with Nike (NKE) expired this past summer after seven years, beating out competitors such as Adidas (ADS.DE) and Under Armor (UA) for a partnership with the soccer superstar.
The company did not disclose the size of the deal. As part of the announcement, soccer pundit Thierry Henry was named the company's director of football, after working with the brand since 2025.
"The announcement is a direct challenge to Nike and Adidas (which have a near-monopoly in the category)," Evercore ISI ******* yst Michael Binetti wrote in a note to clients. "We expect a major investment in a large global category will be a positive near-term catalyst for the stock."
On stock rose slightly after the deal was announced, but shares remain down 40% year to date amid a challenging retail environment for sneaker stocks. Nike's stock fell 2% on Friday.
