More than half of MAGA voters say they would support a Republican candidate accused of ******* ual ******* ault, according to a new poll.
In a recent Politico poll, 66 percent of MAGA voters who cast their ballot for President Trump in his last contest for the White House said they would back a GOP candidate even if "a former partner has accused the Republican candidate of ******* ual ******* ault" rather than support the Democratic candidate in a hypothetical congressional race.
Twenty-five percent of the MAGA voters said they would not cast their ballot for either candidate in the same hypothetical race, while 9 percent of the same group said they would cast their ballot for the Democrat.
In a larger group of Republican-leaning respondents, 42 percent said they would cast their ballot for the GOP candidate accused of ******* ual ******* ault, while 11 percent went for the Democrat and 47 percent went for neither.
MAGA voters showing support for a Republican candidate alleged to have committed ******* ual misconduct is not new. In fact, in May 2023, a jury found that Trump himself ******* ually abused writer E. Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.

U.S. Soccer has joined the ever-growing list of federations frustrated with FIFA President Gianni Infantino's proposal to sell commercial stakes in the World Cup to private investors.
Infantino has faced fierce criticism for his handling of the 2026 World Cup and hit back on social media after the competition wrapped up. Infantino accused critics of spreading hate in a lengthy Instagram post.
Infantino subsequently unveiled plans to sell stakes in the World Cup, offering nations $40 million with an incentive of $20 million upfront if they accepted by mid-September. However, UEFA strongly opposed the proposal and pledged to boycott FIFA competitions, with Concacaf now joining the growing rebellion, as per The Mirror US.

July 30 - Christian Garcia admits that he threw a water bottle toward officers guarding a federal building near Los Angeles during an immigration protest last summer.
The plastic bottle was empty, he said, and hit no one but Garcia himself – the wind blew it back at him. Yet Garcia, a 32-year-old amateur photographer, was arrested by agents, jailed for three days and charged with a crime that could have kept him in prison for up to a year. He said he lost both of his jobs, as a security ‌guard and an undercover shopper, after his bosses told him they had been called by investigators.
Then, with no public explanation, prosecutors dropped the case.
The Trump administration has brought criminal charges against at least 851 people accused of attacking or impeding federal officers, only to abandon them at an unusually high rate. A ‌Reuters review of federal court records found that 31% of these cases that have been completed so far have ended in dismissal. That compares to 8% of all federal criminal cases that typically end in dismissal, according to records compiled by the Federal Judicial Center.

Fifa has been strongly criticised by Concacaf, football's governing body for the Caribbean and North America, along with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for failing to consult on its shock plan to sell stakes in the World Cup.
On Tuesday, Fifa said it plans to create a $20bn subsidiary to run the World Cup and its other events and will offer stakes of up to 20 per cent in it to external investors – a move that provoked a furious response from Uefa, which accused Fifa president Gianni Infantino of putting the game's "soul" up for sale.
Under ‌the plan, Fifa would establish a new entity called Fifa Forward Enterprise to oversee "commercial and event operations".
Fifa, which just held a 48-team World Cup across North America that was the biggest in the tournament's history, would retain control of the enterprise, but offer minority stakes in it to private investors to raise up to $4.2bn.
"Concacaf was only made aware of this matter through media reports and, subsequently, via a media release," a statement read. "We are deeply concerned by the lack of due process.

Saltburn Cricket Club have suspended a player, humorously called "Clicky Ponting", after he was accused of cheating during a local league match by clicking his fingers to make it sound like the batter had edged the ball.

The incident, which happened during Saltburn's second XI win over Norton, went viral on social media after video footage appeared to show the fielder making the sound just before the wicketkeeper completed the catch.

The umpire gave the batter out, sparking widespread criticism online.
Responding to the controversy, Saltburn Cricket Club, an English outfit, said they were taking the allegations seriously and had suspended the player while an investigation is underway.

In a statement, the club said, "We are treating this allegation with the utmost seriousness and, as a family-centric club, we are fully cooperating with the NYS League's investigation."
The statement added, "The player at the centre of the complaint has been suspended and will not play again for the club this season or in the foreseeable future, pending the outcome of this investigation."

Saltburn have also withdrawn from their second-team cup match against Marton as the investigation continues. Club officials have already spoken with league representatives and said the situation has been difficult for everyone involved.

They added, "This has been a very distressing and stressful experience for all those concerned, and we would ask that this reality is borne in mind and that personal boundaries are respected, as we are an amateur club entirely run by volunteers."

The viral clip has now been viewed more than 7.5 million times on X, with several well-known figures criticising the alleged act.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and the Justice Department are asking the Supreme Court to toss an $83 million defamation verdict won by writer E. Jean Carroll after she accused him of ****** ual ****** ault, saying he can't be sued for comments he made while he was president.

The Supreme Court refused in June to hear his appeal of another verdict, for $5 million, that found him liable for ****** ual abuse and defamation.
The latest case centers on comments Trump made during his first term as president. The Justice Department wants to invoke the Westfall Act, which shields government employees from being sued for doing their jobs.
"Absent this Court's intervention, the sitting President is facing nearly a hundred million dollars of personal liability for conduct that was well within the scope of his federal office," federal attorneys wrote. "That alone deserves this Court's attention."
The documents were reviewed Wednesday by The ****** ociated Press and expected to be formally docketed with the court shortly.

Kanye West has settled with his former personal ***** istant in a lawsuit that accused the rapper of ***** ual harassment, ***** ual ***** ault and wrongful termination, according to TMZ.
Attorneys for Lauren Pisciotta filed court documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday stating that the two sides reached an "unconditional" settlement on July 23, according to TMZ. Representatives for West, who legally changed his name to Ye, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to TMZ.
The filing appears to bring an end to one of the most closely watched civil cases involving the rapper. Attorneys for both sides told Judge Nicholas F. An upcoming hearing was taken off the calendar to give the parties time to finalize the deal, with the case scheduled to return to court in late September if further proceedings were needed.
Pisciotta, who worked as West's personal ***** istant from 2021 to 2022, first sued in 2024, alleging ***** ual harassment, breach of contract and wrongful termination. She said she was promoted to chief of staff of West's companies at an annual salary of $4 million before she was fired in October 2022, and that she never received a $3 million severance payment she had been offered, according to Complex.

Elon Musk directed a series of personal insults at Anne Hathaway after an eight-year-old speech about LGBTQ equality, race and privilege resurfaced on X.
The billionaire called Hathaway a "marionette," accused her of reading words written by somebody else and said the Oscar winner had a "little bird brain." He also claimed she simply repeated whatever Hollywood instructed her to say.
The video came from the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 15, 2018. One of the posts recirculating the footage incorrectly described Hathaway's remarks as a new speech.
Musk has attacked The Odyssey's casting and announced plans for his artificial-intelligence platform to create a competing adaptation of Homer's epic before the end of 2026.
The renewed controversy began after the X account Her Tribe Vibe shared an excerpt from Hathaway's speech and presented it as a recent statement. Musk responded across several posts. "She has a little bird brain," he wrote in one reply.

The European Union has joined the Union of European Football ***** ociations (UEFA) in criticising FIFA's controversial plan to launch a new commercial company with external investment to sell a stake in the World Cup.
"The relentless commercialisation of football has become corrosive," EU Commissioner for Sport Glenn Micallef wrote on X on Wednesday. He added that a possible alignment of FIFA's regulatory powers with the financial interests of private entities is a concern for the European Commission.
FIFA announced on Tuesday it plans to create a $20 billion (around €17.6 billion) subsidiary to run the World Cup and other events, offering stakes of up to 20% to external investors. This would give FIFA members the chance "to access up to $20 million in one-off capital," according to the statement on the plan.
The move provoked a furious response from UEFA, which accused the football governing body of putting the game's "soul" up for sale.
"The European Commission will study these proposals carefully," Micallef said in response to the announcement, flagging that under EU treaties sporting rules are subject to EU law where they may have an impact on the European economy.

Gianni Infantino has told the heads of Fifa's 211 member **** ociations that they could miss out on a $30m payment if they do not back his plan to sell stakes in the World Cup, and has given them just 53 days to decide.
On Tuesday, Fifa revealed plans to create a new subsidiary to manage the commercial rights and delivery of the World Cup and other major tournaments, with Infantino confirming that the new company - 'Fifa Forward Enterprises (FFE)' - would be open to external capital investment.
Infantino's plans have been heavily criticised by Uefa, who accused Fifa of looking to sell the game's "soul", while The Independent understands the threat of a boycott is being discussed by senior European figures. The proposals, though, only require a majority vote, of above 50 per cent, from the 211 Fifa members as well as backing from the Fifa Council.
Infantino is planning to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors (PA)
In a letter to the member **** ociations, seen by The Independent, Infantino has promised that national federations would benefit from an increase of its 'Fifa Forward' funding from around $8m to $20m for the upcoming four-year cycle between 2027 and 2031 if the new FFE subsidiary is created.

Aces make surprising NaLyssa Smith roster decision after DiJonai Carrington allegations originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
NaLyssa Smith was missing from the Las Vegas Aces' active roster for Tuesday night's game against the Portland Fire, but the team did not explain the surprising absence. Smith's omission came just days after Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington publicly accused her former partner of infidelity during the 2025 WNBA season. However, Las Vegas has not said that its roster decision was connected to Carrington's allegations.
The Aces did not provide an injury designation, disciplinary explanation or any other details when announcing their available players for their first game following the WNBA All-Star break.
"Tonight's Active Roster," Las Vegas wrote alongside its roster graphic.
Smith's name was not included. The timing quickly drew attention because the 25-year-old forward had appeared in all 26 games for the Aces this season. She had been a consistent contributor for a Las Vegas team that entered Tuesday with an 18-8 record.

A viral video on social media appears to show a Saltburn fielder clicking his fingers as the ball passes Noman Shabir's bat before being caught by wicketkeeper Josh Bowes. Saltburn appeal and the umpire gives Shabir out.
It has been suggested that the finger-clicking was designed to trick the umpire into thinking the batter edged the ball.

BEIJING, July 27 (Reuters) - China's commerce ministry on Monday accused the United States of "AI hegemonism" and threatened countermeasures after senior U.S. officials said Chinese AI companies could face investigations, sanctions and trade restrictions ‌over the alleged theft of U.S. technology.
The ministry said Washington was threatening Chinese companies with punishment based on allegations ‌they used "distillation" to copy advanced U.S. AI models, despite what it called a lack of factual or legal grounds.
Model distillation is a widely used AI training technique in which developers use the outputs of a more capable model to train or improve another system. U.S. officials say they distinguish between legitimate distillation and large-scale extraction that amounts to intellectual property theft.
