Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas gave their children a candid introduction to Hollywood before Dylan and Carys pursued careers in entertainment. The actress says they shared the industry's "horror stories" to see whether their children's enthusiasm would hold up against its less glamorous realities. But theater camps, college productions and auditions kept calling. Now, Zeta-Jones is watching both children pursue the work they love, while finding a stronger voice of her own at 57.

In an interview with AARP Movies for Grownups, Zeta-Jones explained how she and Douglas approached their children's interest in following them into show business. "We told them all the [Hollywood] horror stories to see if their passion for the art and the craft was genuine," she said.
Zeta-Jones also acknowledged how challenging it can be to build a sustainable career in entertainment. "It's a very small percentage of our business that can really make a living out of doing what we love. But they certainly do love it," the actress said.
