Los Angeles County judge granted a temporary restraining order against Olivier Martinez for abusing his ex-wife, Halle Berry, as per the allegations made by the French actor. According to him, Halle Berry choked their 12-year-old son, Maceo, during a fight between them at her house.
In court documents that were initially disclosed to TMZ, 60-year-old Olivier alleges that 60-year-old Berry physically attacked their son in a violent manner on September 26. Also, he is requesting custody rights over the minor. Berry's lawyer describes the court document as being baseless.
According to the filing, Berry entered Maceo's room while he was playing virtual reality games and became furious because he looked "stupid" for playing. Martinez said Berry's fiancé, musician Van Hunt, was at their place during the altercation.
It is alleged in the documents that the fight became violent as Berry hopped onto their son, grabbed him around the neck, and started strangling him. Meanwhile, she was saying, "Who is dominant now?" The filing alleges that Maceo later called his father to tell him what happened.
It is also alleged that the following day, Berry texted Olivier that she felt "terrible" about the entire episode.

Kalib Perry is officially cleared to play for Louisville football (for now) and will be able to play in Saturday's game against No. 16 SMU.
On Monday, Sept. 14, a Jefferson County judge granted the linebacker's motion to join a lawsuit that granted several other athletes a temporary restraining order on the NCAA's stay request in the Wisne v. NCAA case. The stay request deemed those who entered college in 2022 ineligible of receiving a fifth year under the NCAA's new 5-for-5 ruling. Cardinals cornerback Jabari Mack is also part of the TRO and had two tackles and two pass breakups in the season opener.
Perry missed the first two games but is listed on the Cards' 2026 roster. He and Mack announced plans to come back to Louisville under the new 5-for-5 rule Aug. 15. They were active participants during the latter stages of fall camp until the NCAA's stay request was granted Aug. 21. Mack wasn't affected, having been part of the initial TRO, while Perry was deemed ineligible.
"Pretty much every day, we just call over compliance," Louisville head football coach Jeff Brohm said Aug. 21. "They tell us what we can do and not do, and we roll with it. … If your guys are here, you'd like them to be able to practice and play. So we're hopeful that can happen."
Perry was granted a motion to join the local lawsuit and apply the TRO to his eligibility on Sept. 3 but the NCAA filed an emergency appeal, which was denied, and a regular appeal after. In response to Perry's motion, the NCAA stated Thursday that Perry's inclusion "raises complex legal and factual issues that are not part of the primary dispute before the Court." It cited the football player having entered the NFL draft, though he went undrafted, and participated in NFL minicamps with the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee ******* ans. On Aug. 27, the ACC released a statement that banned players that "previously declared for an NFL, NBA or WNBA Draft, and did not appropriately withdraw consistent with NCAA requirements to retain eligibility."

DETROIT — His college career unfrozen by a judge, Orlando Lovejoy is headed to the frozen tundra.
Lovejoy, who starred for Detroit Mercy men's basketball the last two seasons, has committed to fellow Horizon League program Green Bay for his fifth and final season of eligibility.
Lovejoy was among hundreds of college athletes from the high-school class of 2022 who were granted a fifth season of eligibility through temporary restraining orders from judges across the country. The NCAA recently announced a five-year eligibility window, starting with the high-school class of 2023.
Lovejoy, 23, was one of the top point guards in the Horizon League the last two seasons, and in 2025-26, he was first-team all-league as he led the **** ans to within a whisker of the league tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Lovejoy, a Detroit native, started all 31 games for Detroit Mercy in 2025-26, and was top 10 in the league in scoring (15.8 points), **** ists (3.7) and steals (1.6). He made free throws at an 89.2% clip.
Lovejoy spent his first two college seasons at Eastern Michigan, before transferring to Detroit Mercy after the school hired Mark Montgomery as head coach. He contemplated transferring after his first season at Detroit Mercy to capitalize on NIL opportunities, but he ultimately returned to the **** ans and led them to the Horizon League championship game, in which they led much of the game before falling to Wright State, 66-63.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said a California woman was fatally shot outside a Sacramento County Panera Bread Tuesday by an illegal immigrant who had stalked her for months and was subject to a restraining order.
Shalini Thakur, 38, was standing near her car when Rohit Rohit, an illegal immigrant from India, approached her, chased her when she tried to flee and shot her in the head before getting in a car and driving away, DHS said.
Responding police officers caught up to him, but Rohit took his own life with a gun, according to authorities.

Arizona can start to build a convincing case as a Big 12 dark horse on Saturday in Provo, Utah, where it will take on No. 15 BYU. Aiming for a Week 2 upset, the Wildcats will reportedly have two familiar faces joining them on that quest.
The team is formally adding running back Ismail Mahdi and linebacker Max Harris — both of whom were starters on Arizona's 2025 squad — ahead of Saturday's conference tilt, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Friday.
Mahdi, the team's leading rusher a season ago, and Harris, the team's third-leading tackler last go-around, have been cleared for competition and are part of the traveling roster, per Thamel.
They are part of a group of athletes who were recently granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA in Pima County Superior Court. So was kicker/punter Sullivan Moon, a transfer whom Arizona also added to the roster, per Thamel. Moon, though, reportedly won't be at BYU for Saturday's game.

"Selling Sunset" star Christine Quinn's husband, Christian Dumontet, has listed the sprawling Los Angeles home the former couple once shared as their contentious divorce battle continues.
Dumontet filed for divorce from the real estate agent—who is set to make her return to the Netflix reality series—in April 2024, after he was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident. He was later detained for allegedly violating a temporary restraining order requiring him to stay away from the property.
The tech entrepreneur purchased the home for $5 million in 2019, the same year he and Quinn tied the knot in an extravagant Gothic-themed wedding.
However, their relationship ultimately unraveled, with the pair calling it quits in 2024.
Amid their ongoing divorce proceedings, Dumontet asked a judge to grant him exclusive control of the Los Angeles property so he could put it on the market. He argued that he purchased the residence before the couple married and had continued covering its mortgage, taxes, and insurance.

BLOOMINGTON — Eight athletes, including IU football players Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley, were granted a temporary restraining order in an Indiana circuit court Friday, restoring for the moment their eligibility to play college sports.
Filed and granted in Monroe County Circuit Court, the TRO ****** erts that the plaintiffs "have shown by verified pleading and supporting evidence that immediate and irreparable injury will occur before notice can be served and a hearing held."
"The Court further finds that the plaintiffs have demonstrated a probable right to relief," the order states, "and that the threatened injury outweighs any temporary burden imposed by this Order pending an expedited hearing."
Importantly, the order is not lasting. That hearing will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, in Monroe Circuit Court, where the court will hear the plaintiffs' motion for a temporary injunction, a firmer legal decision.

The 2026 college football season is underway, and the Oklahoma Sooners will kick things off at home on Friday night against the UTEP Miners. OU's roster has been mostly set since the transfer portal madness died down in January, but the madness of eligibility lawsuits in college football has given the Sooners the opportunity to make some very last-minute additions to their roster.
According to multiple reports, former Boise State defensive lineman Braxton Fely has been granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA. That TRO allows him to enter the transfer portal and play this season.
Fely was invited to an NFL minicamp, but he never signed an NFL contract. He plans to transfer to and play for Oklahoma in 2026. Fely spent four seasons with the Broncos. He was listed at 6-foot-1 and 296 pounds last season, and he was a starter at defensive tackle for Boise State. Fely was a second-team all-conference player for each of the last two years, and was a starter for three straight years.
Of course, Fely's status still depends on a preliminary injunction hearing, a process college football fans have become all too familiar with this offseason. The same goes for defensive lineman and incoming Arkansas transfer Danny Saili, who had an update in his case on Thursday as well. Saili committed to OU out of the transfer portal in August, having never pursued the NFL.
According to multiple reports, Saili was also granted a temporary restraining order on Thursday in a separate ruling from Fely's case. His situation is also pending a preliminary injunction hearing. However, Saili now appears on OU's official roster, and head coach Brent Venables stated that he is on the team and practicing. Saili has been allowed to go through team activities, but not play, at least until he was ruled eligible to play.

NORMAN — Oklahoma is adding significant depth at defensive tackle.
The Sooners are expected to add former Boise State defensive tackle Braxton Fely, The Oklahoman confirmed Thursday.
Fely was granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA on Thursday in Cleveland County District Court, clearing him to compete until a future hearing on a permanent injunction is scheduled.
The order blocks the NCAA from enforcing any bylaw to keep him off the field, and separately bars the "Rule of Restitution," shielding OU from potential penalties for playing him.
Arkansas defensive tackle transfer Danny Saili has already been added to the roster and received a separate TRO on Thursday.

The SEC has taken a page out of the Big 12 playbook.
Displeased with unfavorable state-court rulings, the conferences turned to federal court. For the Big 12, a federal lawsuit prompted Texas Tech to abandon a plan to play quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who had won an injunction against an NCAA-imposed gambling suspension. For the SEC, the lawsuit against LSU, coach Lane Kiffin, and others has a goal of keeping LSU from adding players who have been on NFL 90-man rosters.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
Via Amanda Christovich of Front Office Sports, the complaint alleges that LSU and Kiffin "waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes to play football for LSU during the 2026-27 season, including players who had signed NFL contracts with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers."
The move comes on the same day a pending state-court lawsuit was due to return to court on the question of whether a temporary restraining order allowing LSU to add the former NFL players would proceed. It serves only to add to the current state of college-football chaos, which surely will be leveraged by the powers-that-be into renewed efforts to pass the Protect College Sports Act.

Roddy Gayle Jr. has been granted a temporary restraining order by a New York judge in his lawsuit against the NCAA in which he's seeking a fifth year of eligibility.
The decision makes Gayle, a 6-foot-5 guard who spent the past two seasons at Michigan, eligible to practice with the Wolverines ahead of his preliminary injunction hearing, which is set for Sept. 17 at 2 p.m.
The TRO was issued by Judge Frank A. Sedita III on Wednesday, Sept. 2, two days after Gayle filed the lawsuit against the NCAA in Niagara County Supreme Court seeking a preliminary injunction that would make him eligible for the 2026-27 season.
Gayle is among a number of high school class of 2022 athletes who are suing the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility, on the basis they are barred from the ***** ociation's new age-based eligibility model.
According to the suit filed on Aug. 31, Michigan has offered Gayle a roster spot for this season, though it's "an opportunity conditioned solely on his NCAA eligibility," and he's been practicing with the team "while that eligibility remains clouded," including during the Wolverines' recent foreign exhibition tour to Lithuania and Croatia.

It seems like every day there's a new NCAA college eligibility lawsuit and more questions about who can play this season. The leading scorer of last season's Gophers men's basketball team, Cade Tyson, is included in those conversations, and head coach Niko Medved would love to have him back.
"I think there is definitely still a possibility that he could play for us next year, but a lot of that is out of his control, and a lot of it is out of our control, to be honest," Medved told Chad Hartman on WCCO Radio. "There are so many moving parts, not only with him but with all of these other players. But Cade had a great experience with us. He is a great guy, and he would obviously add a lot to our team. So we will see what happens here in the near future."
Minnesota has 15 players on its 2026-27 roster, which is the limit according to NCAA rules. Those rules continue to be pushed every day, so it's fair to think the Gophers could try to get around that in order to add an All-Conference-level player like Tyson.
"You could get in a situation where a player on your roster has to wait and see if he is eligible several games into the year, or you could be waiting four games into the season to see if he is eligible. There are only so many guys you would risk having on your roster, but (Cade) is one of those guys," Medved admitted.
Tyson was originally among a group of athletes named in a Colorado lawsuit in July who are pursuing a fifth year of eligibility after the NCAA did not include the class of 2022 in its new five-for-five rules. The judge granted a class-wide preliminary injunction on Aug. 2, requiring the NCAA to grant a fifth year of eligibility to high school class of 2022 athletes. But the Tenth Circuit later granted the NCAA's stay request in the Wisne vs. NCAA lawsuit, which means qualifying players from the class of 2022 are once again ineligible unless they have already been granted temporary restraining orders (TROs) or injunctions on a state-by-state basis.

As the SEC is set to attempt to immediately enforce its ban on players who have signed NFL contracts returning to college to play for schools in the conference, LSU coach Lane Kiffin said that he and his coaching staff are simply playing the waiting game.
Thursday, the SEC is set to argue against a possible preliminary injunction favoring players who filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in a Louisiana federal court. Those plaintiffs were granted a temporary restraining order allowing them to play college sports in 2025, and many of those players had been on NFL rosters this summer.
The group included former LSU defensive end Jack Pyburn, former Ole Miss TE Dae'Quan Wright and ex-Rebels DT Zxavian Harris. Pyburn, who was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend, was picked up on waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs and is set to stay in the NFL. Wright and Harris have committed to play for Kiffin at LSU after playing for him at Ole Miss in 2025.
Assuming they're eligible, of course.
"We don't put any energy into it," Kiffin said about Thursday's hearing during Wednesday's SEC teleconference. "We're not in it. So this is a lot of athletes from a lot of different sports from a lot of different states in the hearing tomorrow. So we don't put any energy into it. We're waiting to get more information tomorrow, more guidance from the SEC."

Kentucky Football fans have essentially become lawyers through Twitter law school over the last few weeks, with Mark Mitchell's ups and downs changing every day, and ultimately, Kentucky got burned by that situation, with Mitchell back at Missouri.
In Wednesday's news, Kentucky fans can get excited about a new court ruling, with Louisville Circuit Judge Brian Edwards ruling in favor of Alex Afari, which gives Afari the eligibility to play one more season at Kentucky.
Afari will now be given a temporary restraining order and will be able to lace up his shoes and play in a Kentucky Wildcat jersey again.
However, not long after this news broke, head coach Will Stein hopped on the SEC coaches' teleconference and said Kentucky still needs to get through some procedures before Afari can play in live games.
"He's been working with us throughout fall camp, so we're waiting for a few more things to be answered," said Stein. "And if those get answered, then we'll proceed."

Azariah Levells is back — and right on time, too.
A New Mexico district judge granted the Lobo cornerback's motion for an expedited temporary restraining order against the NCAA on Monday, allowing him to return to UNM for the time being.
While the fifth-year senior's restraining order is based only on preliminary findings, it made him eligible to rejoin UNM's roster ahead of Monday's cutoff date. Levells has since returned to practice and will be available to play Saturday in the Lobos' season opener against Central Michigan.
"The ordinary time required to notice and brief this motion would itself moot the relief sought and inflict the very harm (Levells) seeks to avoid," read the court order signed by Judge Beatrice Brickhouse of the 2nd Judicial District Court.
But unlike Brett Karhu — another Lobo granted a restraining order last week — Levells likely has more work to do. His motion was filed ex parte, meaning the NCAA has had no opportunity to respond.

The contentious divide between Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright has grown deeper.
Days after Cartwright, 37, was granted a temporary restraining order against Taylor, 47, the original Vanderpump Rules cast member asked a judge to grant no-contact, stay-away and no-abuse orders against his estranged wife, whom he married in 2019.
Taylor's Aug. 31 legal request, obtained by E! News, was filed "in opposition to the Request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order filed by Petitioner Brittany Nicole Cartwright," while simultaneously requesting his own domestic violence restraining order.
The House of Villains alum (real name Jason Cauchi) contended that his ex's Aug. 27 request should be denied because "her recent allegations describe co-parenting friction and protected responses to her own public attacks, not abuse."

More and more NFL figures are addressing the current chaos in college football. And most of them don't like it.
Texans G.M. Nick Caserio joined the chorus on Tuesday, with two observations.
"First of all, it's ridiculous," Caserio told reporters. "Secondly, it doesn't really impact our job. The whole concept, we could spend an hour having that discussion. It doesn't necessarily materially impact kind of what we're doing specific to training camp and those types of things. If they are in college, if they go back to college, you just evaluate them as if you would through the college lens, through the college process. We didn't have any players that fell under that restraining order so it wasn't really going to affect us. Conceptually it's affected basketball as well. There was a kid that went back to Alabama that was in the G-League. Look, if you're a professional player then you're a professional player. To go from being a professional player to a college athlete or amateur athlete, the whole thing is kind of ridiculous."
But is it really ridiculous to expect the NCAA to adopt a five-year rule while also denying a fifth year to those who didn't have access to one? Plenty of players who entered the draft would have stayed put if they'd known they'd have another year.
All problems in college sports trace to a system that denied compensation to players for as long as possible and the problems the reckoning has created. The players are simply reacting to the circumstances, and attempting to secure fair treatment under the relevant rules.

The Kansas City Chiefs have disrupted Lane Kiffin's plans for LSU by claiming linebacker Jack Pyburn off NFL waivers. Pyburn had been discussed as a possible return to Baton Rouge after leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 22-year-old linebacker posted four sacks during the Buccaneers' preseason but failed to secure a roster spot. Kansas City then claimed him Monday, ending LSU's hopes of adding the former Tiger.
Pyburn's situation became possible because of ongoing eligibility litigation in Louisiana. A temporary restraining order allowed players involved in the case to potentially return to college football.

However, his spot on Kansas City's 53-man roster likely ends his SEC return plans. The Chiefs also claimed defensive tackle Bryson Eason after San Francisco released him Sunday.

Kelley Wolf has opened up about the circumstances that lead to a court-issued restraining order against her last August, following an attempt to enter the home of her ex-husband, actor Scott Wolf.
In an Aug. 29 Instagram statement, the "Real World: New Orleans" alum explained that after a year spent working with a team of professionals—including doctors, therapists, psychologists, and healers—she has answers surrounding the situation that left her banned from contacting the three children she shares with Scott: Jackson, 17, Miller, 13, and Lucy, 12.
"It's been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help," Kelley wrote.
The 49-year-old podcast host went on to describe her mental health at the time.
"I felt like my brain had been hijacked, and the world was moving at the speed of a freight train," the mom of three continued. "It turns out that is exactly what happened, but I didn't know it."

BATON ROUGE – An ex-NFL player practiced with LSU football Monday morning.
First-year LSU coach Lane Kiffin shared with reporters Aug. 31 at his weekly press conference that tight end Dae'Quan Wright went through his first practice with the Tigers.
"I can tell you that Dae'Quan practiced and the SEC knows that," Kiffin said. "We asked them before. That's in no violation of any previous rule or even the rule that's out there now. The new rule does not prohibit that."
LSU FOOTBALL 2026 PREDICTIONS LSU football score predictions for every game on the 2026 schedule
Kiffin referenced a rule that the SEC adopted just a couple of days after a Louisiana judge put in a place a temporary restraining order for 33 former college student-athletes that granted them a fifth year of college eligibility. The SEC now prohibits teams from having any players that have signed contracts with NFL, NBA or WNBA teams on their final rosters.

Defensive lineman Jack Pyburn was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and could be the latest player who tries to go back to college after spending time in an NFL camp.
Pyburn was among the cuts on the day NFL teams reduced their rosters to 53. He could now try to get a fifth year of eligibility if he is not claimed on waivers by another team Monday. He'll become a free agent if he's not picked up and is among the players granted a temporary restraining order by a Louisiana court earlier this month that would make them eligible to return to college athletics. Pyburn's likely landing spot would be LSU.
Four other players who spent time on NFL rosters this offseason before being cut were also part of the case: former LSU running back TJ Harden, former Mississippi tight end Dae'Quan Wright, former Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and former Oregon State running back Anthony Hankerson.
These players all entered the NFL draft process because they had used up their four years of eligibility. The NCAA announced a rule change in June allowing players who began college in 2023 or later to have five years to play five seasons.
That rule didn't apply to these players because they entered college in 2022. They have sued the NCAA, arguing they're being deprived of education and potential name, image and likeness benefits by being excluded from the rule.

LSU may soon fire the loudest shot yet in a battle with its own conference.
The SEC has communicated to plaintiff attorneys that the league will comply with a Louisiana state court order permitting their clients — former professional football players — from a return to college. Yahoo Sports obtained a message from the conference legal counsel to attorneys signaling the news.
The message paves the way for a host of players to join SEC programs, most notably at LSU, where two players who signed pro contracts this summer are poised to now be on coach Lane Kiffin's roster.
Dae'Quan Wright, the former Ole Miss tight end who signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns, and Ole Miss defensive tackle Zxavian Harris, who signed with the Saints before being waived, plan to sign with the university. While the signing does not immediately constitute a violation of the SEC's new policy banning former professional players, their inclusion on LSU's final roster would. Rosters are not set until a day before Game 1 (Friday).
The impending signings continues to put at odds the SEC and LSU in an unprecedented legal collision over athlete eligibility that's been brewing for days. A Louisiana judge earlier this month granted Wright and other players an additional year of eligibility through a temporary restraining order by prohibiting the NCAA from enforcing its eligibility standards.

As we suggested Friday in our article about former Duke Blue Devil Mark Mitchell, the SEC's new rules about pros returning to college, and the transfer protocols in the SEC, the lawyers weren't done.
And that came to pass, first on Thursday, as one court in Texas granted a temporary restraining order in one case, and in another court in Louisiana on Friday, where a state judge temporarily stopped the league from applying its new rules.
Somewhat surprisingly perhaps, Arkansas coach John Calipari is strongly opposed to coaches taking players this late. He didn't specifically mention Mitchell and Kentucky, but that was bound to be part of his thinking. However, he has been pretty consistent about making players interests a priority during his career. He continues that here by noting that taking a player this late could correctly cause some trust issues.
He also pushed for the Protect College Sports Act currently winding its way through Congress.
It's all such a big mess. You wonder if much of it could have been avoided if the NCAA had pushed the five-year rule introduction back to 2026-27.

Kansas City Chiefs players Wesley Bissainthe and Omari Evans could get another chance to play college football after a recent court ruling involving the NCAA. Both players went undrafted in 2026 but later joined the Chiefs as free agents. The ruling has opened the door for players in their situation to regain college eligibility.
The case comes from a dispute over NCAA eligibility rules and an extra year of college football. A judge temporarily blocked restrictions that could have prevented the players from returning.
Chiefs' undrafted free agents Wesley Bissainthe and Omari Evans now have a chance to return to college football. The case reached court after several athletes challenged NCAA rules that could prevent them from going back to college sports. The NCAA and several major conferences had opposed the return of players who had entered a professional draft, signed with a professional team or appeared on a pro roster. The players argued that briefly moving into professional football should not cost them their college eligibility.
On Thursday, a Texas judge issued a 14-day restraining order. The order prevents the NCAA, SEC and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey from blocking 41 athletes from returning to college sports for another season. Wesley Bissainthe and Omari Evans are among those athletes, along with Dallas Cowboys receiver Jordan Hudson.

If kicker Ethan Sanchez plays college football this season, it won't be with the University of Houston.
Sanchez, whose 21 field goals last season were the second-most in school history, will not be pursued by the Cougars for a possible return, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Houston Chronicle on Friday.
Sanchez was among 41 plaintiffs to be granted an extra year of eligibility Thursday when a Dallas judge issued a temporary restraining order that prohibits the NCAA, SEC and its commissioner Greg Sankey from stopping a group of athletes from returning to college for a fifth season.

A Texas judge has temporarily cleared the way for more than 40 former professional athletes to return to college competition, blocking an SEC eligibility rule that had prevented them from playing this season.
Dallas County Judge Martin Hoffman issued a temporary restraining order Thursday in a lawsuit brought by 41 athletes. The order prevents the NCAA, SEC and Commissioner Greg Sankey from declaring the plaintiffs ineligible based on transfer portal rules or time spent on a professional roster.
"As long as they would have been eligible to continue playing college sports in the following semester if they had a fifth year of eligibility, they are eligible today," Hoffman wrote, according to the ******* ociated Press.
