Fundsmith, an investment management firm based in London, has released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for its "Fundsmith Equity Fund." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Fund returned -2.9% in the first half of 2026, underperforming the MSCI World Index by 14.1 percentage points, driven by challenges from a momentum-driven market dominated by passive index funds and AI-related exuberance. The letter discusses the rise of passive investing, noting that index funds now resemble active funds, concentrating heavily in a few sectors and stocks. Due to increased market volatility and a 51% portfolio turnover in the first half of the year, the firm plans to adopt a more active approach, incorporating momentum while maintaining its core mantra: buy good companies, don't overpay, and do little. In addition, please check the Firm's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Fundsmith Equity Fund highlighted Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) as a newly added position. Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) is a multinational technology company that offers ridesharing, food delivery, freight, and other services. On July 31, 2026, Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) closed at $70.36 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $143.22 billion. Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) posted a one-month return of -2.84%, while its shares lost 20.43% over the past 52 weeks.
Fundsmith Equity Fund stated the following regarding Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) – Uber operates a platform that connects users with ride-hailing and food-delivery drivers. It relies on a two-sided network effect: more drivers mean shorter wait times, which attracts more riders, making the platform highly sticky and difficult for local competitors to disrupt. Now that most of these challengers (Karhoo, Sidecar, Juno, Fasten, Hailo, etc.) have disappeared and Uber has survived, the network effects become very attractive. This is shown in the company's cash from operations, which went from -$4.3bn in 2019 to -$445m in 2021 (last year of negative) to $3.6bn in 2023 and over $10bn in 2025. Uber's logistics network is massive, coordinating roughly 42m trips and delivery orders every single day globally. Future growth opportunities include expanding into grocery and package delivery and eventually integrating autonomous (self-driving) vehicles ('AVs') into their fleet to drastically lower costs. Some see AVs as a threat to Uber, but we think it is more likely that Tesla, Waymo, etc., will use Uber's distribution and global licenses to reach customers and maximise their ****** et usage rather than having to get licenses, build an app, and get tens of millions of people to download. ROIC: mid 20s, FCF yield: 7.4%."

International stocks are performing admirably this year. As of July 22, the MSCI ACWI ex-US Investable Market Index, which combines developed and emerging market equities, is higher by 11.51%. Sounds good and it is, but investors should dig deeper.
Artificial intelligence (AI)-adjacent and technology stocks, many hailing from emerging markets, have been key contributors to international equity upside this year. As a result, markets such as South Korea and Taiwan loom large in some supposedly diverse international ETFs. Plus, some of those funds now devote significant percentages of their portfolios to growth stocks.
For investors looking to defray some of those risks while adding more value exposure to their portfolios, the ALPS O'Shares International Developed Quality Dividend ETF (OEFA) is an idea to consider. With its emphasis on quality traits and dividend growth, OEFA could be an ideal complement to growth-heavy portfolios and for investors looking for a more prudent way to gain international exposure.
With the S&P 500 heavily allocated to AI-related stocks and with the same becoming true of some developing markets, developed market exposure – attainable via OEFA – becomes all the more compelling because the sector-level profiles in many developed markets don't resemble those found here in the U.S.

UFC Oklahoma City has a late addition to the mix.
This Saturday, the UFC heads to Paycom Center in Oklahoma City with a middleweight main event between former champion Dricus du Plessis and former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. And on Tuesday, MMA Fighting confirmed that a late addition fight between undefeated prospects takes place on the undercard when Damien Anderson takes on Ezra Elliott in a featherweight contest. Marcel Dorff was first to report the news.
Anderson (5-0) is a 29-year-old fighter out of Texas, with all of his MMA wins coming via stoppage. Most recently, Anderson submitted Hondo Gutierrez with a kneebar at CFFC 150.
Elliott (7-0) is a 26-year-old prospect hailing from Arizona, where he trains at the MMA Lab. All of Elliott’s career wins have also come by stoppage, including his most recent win over Ashtin Canigla at RUF 68 in May.
Aside from the main event, UFC Oklahoma City also features a middleweight co-main event between Jared Cannonier and Christian Leroy Duncan.

President Donald Trump marked the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding on July Fourth with a speech touting a roaring stock market, urging election reforms, and hailing military interventions in Venezuela and Iran.
But another anniversary went conspicuously unmarked: the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law by Trump exactly one year earlier.
At its ceremonious signing, the act seemed poised to be a defining legislative achievement for Republicans to run on in November.
But 12 months later, the law's cutbacks to key safety-net programs such as Medicaid and food stamps have fueled a chorus of criticism, challenging the effort to promote its populist and business-friendly tax cuts.
While the president and his party have sought to play up the law's most popular provisions, even attempting to recast it as a "Working Families Tax Cut Bill," Democrats have seized on negative polling and the Republican rebrand as evidence of its failures.

The Ohio State Buckeyes stretched their aggressive recruiting outreach to California in recent years. It's how the Buckeyes reeled in five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and past star quarterback CJ Stroud.
Now the Buckeyes have their eyes set on someone comparable to the latter. Especially one hailing from Stroud's home region.
Stroud dominated the prep competition out of Rancho Cucamonga High in California's Inland Empire. The "I.E" has emerged as quite the quarterback hot spot since Stroud. Washington Commanders QB and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner from LSU Jayden Daniels represents one more QB from that region, who was once offered by the Buckeyes too out of Cajon High in San Bernardino.
Now the Buckeyes are rising as the favorite to land this ultra-talented passer. But must fight off Alabama and a reported late surge from Big Ten rival Oregon.
Four-star for the class of 2028 Josiah Boyd is emerging as a potential future Buckeye. The 6-foot-4 dual-threat stars for Vista del Lago High down in Moreno Valley.

The Kentucky Wildcats and coach Mark Pope have put together a talented roster for the upcoming season, and Pope has praised the makeup of the team continually this offseason. There's one player he recently made sure and point out as having an exception summer, though.
Trent Noah is Bluegrass product, hailing from Harlan, Kentucky. After committing to South Carolina originally, he switched it up and headed to Lexington. He was rated three stars coming out of high school, and ranked as a top 125 player by 247Sports.
As summer practices have begun for the Wildcats, Pope spoke to Kentucky Sports Radio this week to talk about how things are going. He spoke especially well of Noah.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially became husband and wife on July 3—but the newlywed NFL star still hasn't fully moved on from his at-home proposal to the songstress, sharing new details about the milestone relationship moment in his first official appearance since their New York City wedding.
Days after tying the knot with Swift, 36, at famed concert venue and sporting arena Madison Square Garden, Kelce, also 36, released a new episode of his podcast, "New Heights," in which he opened up about the "epic" moment, while confirming rumors that it took place just after the singer appeared on the show.
Speaking to his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, 38, and their guest, NFL legend Tom Brady, 48, Kelce reflected on his August 2025 proposal to his new wife, who made a surprise appearance in a "New Heights" episode the same day, seemingly unaware that she was about to get engaged.
"Starting [the podcast season] with Taylor [was] pretty epic," the Kansas City Chiefs star gushed. "During that recording the entire time, I'm planning, like, 'I'm gonna ask this woman to marry me after this.'"
He then described the pre-proposal episode as one he will "remember forever," hailing it as "really cool" and "pretty fun."

Belgium have declared themselves "astonished" after Folarin Balogun's suspension was wiped by Fifa ahead of their World Cup last-16 clash.
United States striker Balogun had his one-match ban "suspended" in an extraordinary development on Monday after being controversially sent off in his country's round of 32 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fifa's regulations provided no official avenue to hear an appeal of Balogun's red card - something which was criticised - but justified the move by citing Article 27 in Fifa's disciplinary code, which states: "The judicial body may decide to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure."
US president Donald Trump responded by hailing Fifa for "reversing a great injustice", raising concerns of sporting integrity due to his close relationship with Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
Belgium's FA has now responded to Fifa's decision, drawing attention to Fifa's "direct contradiction" to their own World Cup provisions.

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is one of the safe stocks for beginners to buy in 2026. Reuters reported on June 25 that Tesla, Inc. Reuters reported on June 3 that Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is rolling out its unsupervised robotaxis in the Austin Metro area in Texas in an attempt to speed up its autonomous ride-hailing operation. It stated that a wider adoption of the company's full self-driving software and an expansion of the robotaxi service are key to Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) growth strategy since its pivoted focus from EVs to AI and robotics. Donahoo is ranked as the No. 150 wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, he gives the Buckeyes another big target. This is the second commitment at receiver this week, joining elite 2029 receiver Austin Brown.
Donahoo becomes the 17th recruit to give his pledge to play in Scarlet and Gray next season and the second receiver in the class. The coaching staff is still hoping to sway Monshun Sales from Indiana, the No. 2 overall receiver in the class, to join the Buckeyes. At this point, it looks like Sales may be headed in a different direction, but there's still time.
After yesterday's monster commitment from five-star offensive tackle Caden Moss, Ohio State has now moved up to having the No. 8 class in the country. The good news is there are still some big names out there that the Buckeyes are hoping to snag, in particular, running back David Gabriel-Georges and defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou. Both are five-star prospects and would push the class even higher.
Hailing from Oviedo, Florida, Donahoo chose Ohio State over Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, and Minnesota. He recently made an official visit to Columbus alongside OSU commit Jamier Brown and another target, Blake Wong, with the latter expected to commit to BYU.

Former New Mexico State women's basketball coach Jody Adams made international players an important part of her recruitment strategy. Her successor has taken that to a new level.
The Aggies announced their first signing class under new coach Adeniyi Amadou on Tuesday, June 23. It includes 11 newcomers, of which six are transfers, and five are freshmen.
All five freshmen are from Amadou's native France. Four of the six transfers are also French, with two others hailing from Serbia and Latvia. Guard Emma Christiano, a Las Cruces native, is the only returner and NM State's only American player as of now.
Amadou is no stranger to recruiting internationally. Three of the four transfers that are from France were recruited by Amadou to Rhode Island while he was an **** ociate head coach for the Rams. Two of those three, forward Aimee Michel and center Lilyana Fontcha, entered the transfer portal with do-not-contact tags, a designation that typically signifies a player already has a destination in mind.

Hailing from Brockton, AJ Dybantsa was selected number one overall by the Washington Wizards in Tuesday's NBA Draft. He's the first athlete born and raised in Massachusetts to be selected number one overall in any of the four major U.S. sports drafts (NBA, NHL, NFL, and MLB).
Dybantsa, 6'9, 217 pounds, averaged 25.5 points per game this past season with the BYU Cougars. In January, Dybantsa passed Celtics legend Danny Ainge for the most points posted by a BYU freshman in a game, recording 43 points in a 91–78 victory over Utah.
Dybantsa played high school basketball at St. Sebastian's School in Needham. He was offered scholarships from all the top universities, including Boston College, but Dybantsa said he chose BYU to play ball and keep a low profile off the court.
The son of a Jamaican immigrant mother and a father from the Republic of Congo, Dybantsa is the latest athlete produced by the "City of Champions." 80 years ago, heavyweight champion Rocky "the Brockton Blockbuster" Marciano trained at the old fire station on Pleasant Street - a building that had its electrical wiring installed by Thomas Edison. Fellow champion "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler also sculpted his legendary boxing career in Brockton. Both have statutes in the city.
Brockton also produced Ken MacAfee, a 3x All-American tight end who caught passes from Joe Montana at Notre Dame. He was third in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1977 and won the National ****** le that same year. He played two seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers.

There were trade rumors aplenty on Tuesday, June 23, for the Boston Celtics, yet they held firm and kept the No. 27 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, using it to select power forward Chris Cenac Jr. out of Houston University.
The first-round pick is just 19 years old and stands tall at 6-foot-11. The former five-star recruit committed to play for the Houston Cougars in 2024 and averaged 9.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in his freshman season spanning from 2025 to 2026. Despite his youth, he started nearly every game for the Cougars and declared for the draft in early April. He joins a long list of Celtics big men hailing from Louisiana, featuring the legendary Bill Russell, the great Robert Parish, and fan-favorite center Robert Williams III.
Cenac Jr. made a name for himself with his rebounding, as he was a double-double machine for the Coogs and used his length and athleticism to corral boards on both ends of the floor. He's not the most efficient scorer, shooting under 49 percent from the floor and averaging a little less than one 3-point make per outing.
His defensive statistics aren't remarkable either, but he has the strength and versatility to help the Celtics as a power forward or a stretch five. And if there's one thing Boston lacked during the 2026 NBA Playoffs, it was size. Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid punished the C's when it mattered most and that ended up costing Boston the first round.
How Cenac Jr. fits in with his fellow Celtics bigs — including Neemias Queta, Luka Garza, and Amari Williams — remains to be seen. Perhaps he'll spend some time in Portland, Maine with the G League Celtics.

Felix Nmecha has received plenty of praise lately, with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann describing him as "world class", Joshua Kimmich hailing him as one of the most talented players in the national team and Lothar Matthäus naming him one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the world.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder isn't letting those compliments put him under pressure. Instead, he uses the praise as extra motivation.
“I wouldn’t call it pressure," Nmecha said in an interview with Sky Germany, adding:
"Of course, it’s nice to hear those words from the coach, teammates or a legend. But I try not to focus too much on it, otherwise you can lose your focus. Still, I’m very grateful for the positive comments. It motivates me to keep improving.”
The 25-year-old has no doubts about his own abilities.
