Coupang Inc. (NYSE:CPNG) reported results on August 4 for the quarter ended June 30, and its two headline numbers point in opposite directions. Net revenues rose 4% year over year to $8.9 billion, or 10% on a constant currency basis, while the company swung to an operating loss of $556 million from a profit a year earlier. Roughly $410 million of that came from administrative fines in South Korea, but even excluding the fines, operating results still fell $295 million short of last year. Growth and profitability moved apart this quarter, and that split now defines the stock's story.
Coupang's newer businesses are growing much faster than its core marketplace. The Developing Offerings segment posted net revenues of $1.4 billion, up 20% year-over-year on a reported basis and 24% on a constant currency basis, and its adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed by $16 million from a year ago, a sign those newer bets are moving toward breakeven rather than away from it. Product Commerce, the core retail and grocery business, still added customers, with active customers reaching 24.7 million, up 3% year over year.
That growth is coming from a strategy built around proprietary logistics rather than a marketplace model borrowed from elsewhere. Coupang runs its own end-to-end infrastructure for its Rocket Fresh grocery service and has pushed into luxury goods through its Farfetch acquisition, layering new categories onto the fast delivery network it already built across South Korea and Taiwan. The company also generated $34.5 billion in revenue for 2025, up roughly 14% from the prior year, a reminder that the growth story predates this particular quarter.
The damage was not confined to the fines. Gross profit fell 3% year-over-year to $2.5 billion, and gross margin slipped 188 basis points to 28.2%. Inside Product Commerce, adjusted EBITDA fell $281 million from last year to $382 million, with margin down 390 basis points to 5.1%. Company-wide adjusted EBITDA margin came in at just 1.8%, down 318 basis points, so even the version of profitability that strips out one-time items is shrinking.
Cash generation is thinning too. Trailing twelve-month operating cash flow fell $484 million to $1.4 billion, and free cash flow dropped to just $105 million, down $679 million from a year earlier. That is a steep decline for a company that still spent $459 million buying back 23.2 million shares during the quarter. Coupang's profitability has historically run thin even in good years, with 2025 net income of about $208 million translating to a net margin near 0.6%, while stock-based compensation made up roughly 26.8% of operating cash flow that year.

Cloudflare (NET) stock is getting a fresh vote of confidence from Wall Street after the company delivered a stronger-than-expected second quarter and raised its full-year outlook. Global freight middleman Ceva Logistics has completed the acquisition of couriers Paack Iberia and Paack France for integration into Colis Privé, its European last-mile delivery business.
About 490 employees will join Colis Privé through the transaction, which aims to strengthen the company's domestic network in France while enabling it to expand into Spain and Portugal, two fast-growing e-commerce markets, the company announced last week.
Ceva Logistics, part of France-based conglomerate CMA CGM, originally announced the deal in late June.
Paack supports retailers with an extensive delivery network (82 transfer centers and more than 5,000 active pickup points) in the Iberian peninsula and six urban delivery stations in France, bringing packages to individual residences as well as out-of-home delivery points.
Based in the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan area, Colis Privé relies on a national network of 56 sorting hubs and operational centers, as well as approximately 5,000 delivery drivers, to deliver parcels across France every day. In 2025, the acquisition of MIPI, which has more than 300 delivery drivers, strengthened its coverage of France's major metropolitan areas. The company serves leading French and international e-commerce players and is also present in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Airbnb (NASDAQ:ABNB) shares surged 17.4% on August 7, closing at their highest price in more than four years. The move followed second-quarter 2026 results, published on August 6, that cleared expectations on nearly every line. Revenue climbed 17% year over year to $3.6 billion, gross booking value rose 16% to $27.2 billion, and adjusted EBITDA jumped 21% to $1.3 billion. It was the kind of quarter that finally shifted the narrative around a stock that had spent years going nowhere.
Nights and seats booked rose 10% to 148.3 million, an acceleration from the first quarter, while GAAP EPS jumped from $1.03 to $1.37, well past the $1.22 **** ysts expected. Management didn't just clear the bar; it raised it for the rest of the year, guiding to at least mid-teens full-year revenue growth and an adjusted EBITDA margin of at least 35.5%, with third quarter revenue seen between $4.69 billion and $4.77 billion. The growth also broadened out. Net origin nights booked accelerated not only in newer expansion markets but in long-established ones too, including the US, France, the UK, and Australia, a sign the improvement is coming from product work rather than a one-time boost.
That product work shows up everywhere. Airbnb has rebuilt itself as what it calls an AI native company, cutting the time from concept to shipped feature by as much as 60% and shipping nearly 80% more features than a year earlier. Its AI **** istant, now live in more than 50 languages, resolves roughly 45% of support issues without a human agent, up from the first quarter, and has helped push customer support cost per booking down about 16% year-over-year. The company is also stretching past home rentals, adding boutique and independent hotels across more than 20 destinations along with grocery delivery, car rentals, airport pickups, and resort passes. Hotel nights booked grew roughly three times as fast as the core home business, and about 35% of first-time hotel guests come back to book a home, suggesting the expansion feeds the core rather than competing with it. With more than 9 million active listings across 220 countries and roughly 2 billion guest arrivals since 2008, Airbnb also sits on a depth of host history that AI rivals have little of their own to draw from.
None of this comes cheap. Airbnb has long carried a valuation premium tied to growth expectations, and a stock that just hit a four-year high raises the bar for what needs to keep going right. Reported free cash flow also leans on a non-cash boost, since stock-based compensation made up roughly 34% of operating cash flow in fiscal 2025, meaning some of that cash generation isn't as clean as the headline number suggests. Regulation is a live risk too. New European Union rules taking effect in May 2026 require more transparency and data sharing from short-term rental platforms, adding compliance costs on top of restrictions cities like New York have already imposed.

During the August 6 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer focused on the shifting trajectory of Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), as he said:
Look at this incredible move in the stock of Akamai Technologies. Over the past few years, this company's evolved from a simple content delivery network- I used to call it the fast lane on the internet superhighway- into more of a cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure business, fast growing. Going into the close, Akamai was already up more than 35% for the year. Then they reported basically in-line revenue, slightly better-than-expected earnings, mixed outlook, current quarter trimmed, full-year forecast down just a tad. Initially, the stock got slammed, but then it caught fire, I think, because Akamai reported a big cloud infrastructure win in the robotic ***** e.
Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM) reported second-quarter revenue of $1.1 billion, marking a 5% year-over-year increase. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share reached $1.59, beating consensus estimates, while GAAP diluted earnings per share landed at $0.52 due to rising investment expenses. Segment results showed security revenue climbing 10% to $604 million and cloud infrastructure services surging 39% to $99 million. Meanwhile, legacy delivery revenue contracted 6% to $396 million.
Investor attention quickly shifted to a multi-year customer commitment valued over $600 million for cloud infrastructure powering robotic workloads. During the earnings call, Chief Executive Officer Tom Leighton noted that graphics processing unit capacity remains entirely sold out, while Chief Financial Officer Ed McGowan highlighted that total multi-year cloud commitments signed year-to-date have surpassed $2.8 billion. Management guided full-year revenue between $4.445 billion and $4.530 billion, with capital expenditures remaining elevated at roughly 40% of revenue to support infrastructure scaling.
Despite artificial intelligence growth tailwinds, professional ***** ysts flagged heavy capital intensity and margin compression risks. Highlighting these structural cost pressures, on August 10, HSBC downgraded the stock to a Hold rating and cut its price target to $123, pointing to compressed operating margins and temporary pauses in share repurchases.

Wall Street has been fretting over a potential AI bubble burst and whether huge AI spending by companies would ever pay off. But Cathie Wood is doubling down. Ark recently bought 80,000 shares of Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) across five funds. Ark also decreased its stake in Roblox (NYSE: RBLX).
Nvidia bears say AI infrastructure spending is running too hot and will eventually slow. That will directly impact Nvidia as its GPU sales will slow down.
Bulls say that fear misses the point. Nvidia's data center networking revenue jumped nearly 200% year over year last quarter. That shows Nvidia is capturing value beyond the GPU itself, through racks, interconnects, and software. Roughly half of data center revenue now comes from AI cloud, industrial, enterprise, and sovereign customers rather than the handful of hyperscalers everyone watches closely. Combined, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet plan to spend up to $725 billion this year, up 77% year over year, and Nvidia is positioned to capture 35% to 40% of that.
The bear case is about the balance sheet, not the growth rate. Nvidia's inventories more than doubled year over year, and prepaid expenses grew over 40%, as the company locks up more supply commitments to protect delivery timelines. Three customers make up 30%, 18%, and 16% of Nvidia's accounts receivable, so any shift by a major buyer toward custom chips would hit hard. Non-marketable securities, mostly stakes in AI startups and infrastructure partners, now make up 17% of Nvidia's total ****** ets.

Joe Ryan has spent much of the second half of the season trying to work through issues with his delivery. He got rocked in his first start after the break, giving up a franchise-high six home runs in a game. He gave up four earned runs in each of his next two starts.
It was atypical for the all-star starter.
"I think when you start thinking about throwing knuckleballs in situations, it's probably time to figure something out," Ryan said.
The Twins sent him home from their most recent road trip, where imaging revealed a glute strain and he was subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list. Ryan said he knew when the issue in the area started flaring up and he tried to "push through it" in those three starts.
That didn't work.

United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) shares surged in premarket trading on July 28 after the package-delivery company reported a second-quarter beat and raised its 2026 outlook. Revenue reached $22.83 billion, above the $21.81 billion consensus estimate, while adjusted earnings of $1.76 per share exceeded the $1.66 estimate. UPS now expects full-year revenue of approximately $91.2 billion, up from $89.7 billion, and adjusted earnings of approximately $7.22 per share.
The more important development was operational. Eighteen months after announcing an accelerated reduction in lower-margin Amazon volume, UPS said it had completed the planned "glide down" and the related phase of its network reconfiguration. That did not end the Amazon relationship: Amazon had accounted for more than 13% of UPS revenue at its peak, but its contribution had fallen to 8.8% by the end of the first quarter.
That strategy was always supposed to make UPS smaller before making it more profitable. The second quarter offered the clearest evidence yet that the second part may finally be starting. U.S. Domestic average daily package volume fell 3.3%, but revenue rose 6% as revenue per piece increased 9.3%. Adjusted domestic operating profit increased 21%, lifting the segment's adjusted margin to 8% from roughly 7% a year earlier.
Still, the margin remains well below the International segment's 12.4%, and fuel surcharges contributed to the stronger revenue-per-piece result. The core tension is whether UPS has created a durably more profitable domestic network, or whether fuel surcharges and temporary restructuring effects made one quarter look better than the underlying cost structure.
The bull case is that UPS has begun to prove the logic behind sacrificing Amazon volume: fewer packages can produce more revenue and profit when the packages that remain carry better yields.

Investors often weigh the potential of a retail recovery against the stability of defense contracts. Comparing Advance Auto Parts Inc (NYSE:AAP) and BWX Technologies Inc (NYSE:BWXT) reveals two distinct strategies for long-term growth.
Advance Auto Parts provides essential vehicle components to a wide range of customers, focusing on operational improvements to drive value. BWX Technologies serves critical defense and energy needs through nuclear innovation and government partnerships. While one targets a consumer turnaround, the other capitalizes on specialized industrial demand and expanding government budgets.
Advance Auto Parts sells automotive replacement parts, accessories, and maintenance items to both professional installers and do-it-yourself customers. The company operates thousands of stores across North America and recently expanded an AI-powered delivery partnership with OneRail to improve fulfillment speed. This strategic focus on professional accounts like local garages and service stations is intended to recapture market share in a highly competitive environment.
In FY 2025, revenue reached $8.6 billion, representing a year-over-year decline of approximately 5.4%. Despite the sales dip, the company managed to report a net income of $44 million, resulting in a net margin of approximately 0.5% for the fiscal year. The company is currently implementing a multi-year restructuring plan to optimize its supply chain, reduce costs, and enhance its competitive position in a fragmented market.
As of its January 2026 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is nearly 2.4x. This metric compares total debt to shareholder equity and indicates a significant reliance on borrowed capital to fund operations. Free cash flow for the year was negative $298 million, defined as cash from operations minus capital expenditures.

Our ******* ysts just identified a stock with the potential to be the next Nvidia. Tell us how you invest and we'll show you why it's our #1 pick. Tap here.
Performance was driven by record fiber address delivery, with the first half of 2026 exceeding the peak construction period of late 2025 due to expanded capacity and strong execution.
Management attributed the decline in total operating revenues to discrete adjustments to wholesale revenues and legacy copper and cable pressures, which were partially offset by a 13% increase in residential fiber revenue.
The company is leveraging its position as the largest E-ACAM recipient to accelerate fiber deployment in hard-to-reach rural areas, converting copper footprints to fiber to mitigate legacy headwinds.
Strategic positioning has shifted toward a fiber-centric model, with 60% of the total footprint now served by fiber and 80% of addresses capable of gigabit speeds.

It was the turn of Osnabrück to fail to clear their lines when Costly restored Heidenheim's lead five minutes later. Another five minutes later, Faber produced his second ******* ist of the game when David Kopacz caught everyone by surprise with a stunning strike from outside the box.
However, the newcomers were behind once again as Jonas Föhrenbach's corner-kick was converted by Jan Schöppner in the injury-time of the first-half. The next goal also came from another corner-kick, but it didn't arrive until the 89th minute.

Argentine Guillermo Balzi and South Korean Lee Ho-jae scored on their 2. Bundesliga debut as SV Darmstadt and Holstein Kiel shared spoils at Bollenfalltor. The hosts scored twice in the last 15 minutes after their poor start to the game.
Former Newell's Old Boys midfielder Balzi opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes with a brilliant finish after Phil Harres' fortuitous ****** ist. There was no fortune involved when Harres doubled their advantage just before the break, though.
The striker who had a brilliant pre-season scored with a free header after Adrian Kapralik's pinpoint delivery. Darmstadt looked defeated until the introduction of their summer signing Lee at the hour mark.
The tall striker first received a huge cheer from the home fans when he helped his injured teammate Yosuke Furukawa get off the pitch by holding him all by himself. Five minutes after that incident, the former K League 1 targetman scored with a brilliant finish.
Darmstadt sealed the point five minutes before time as Aleksandar Vukotic produced a bullet header from Lance Duijvestijn's corner-kick delivery. Kiel's coach Tim Walter was visibly irritated after the final whistle by the manner in which his team dropped two points.

For the second straight quarter, Bloomin' Brands stock is soaring after the company reported encouraging results from Outback Steakhouse.
Bloomin's share price was up 35% as of midday Wednesday, to $12.04, and has now increased more than 88% year to date.
It reflects continued progress at the 662-unit Outback, which is in the midst of a turnaround effort after falling behind its steakhouse competitors in recent years. In the quarter that ended on June 28, Outback's same-store sales rose 1.4% year over year, their highest mark since the first quarter of 2023.
Traffic was still down 2.8%. Executives noted that the chain did not run third-party delivery promotions in the quarter that drove traffic a year ago but were less profitable.

Being a professional sports broadcaster is difficult … or, at least it's supposed to be. But one Philadelphia Phillies fan made the job look incredibly easy after he was able to call an inning during Wednesday's game.
Lewis Kalb, a substitute teacher, won an auction to perform an inning of play-by-play during a Phillies radio broadcast. He got that chance in the third inning of Wednesday's 10-4 loss to the Washington Nationals and absolutely knocked it out of the park.
The instant Kalb started talking, fans could probably tell they were about to experience something special. Turns out, Kalb had the perfect baseball broadcaster voice. Oh, and he also had the chops to actually call the action.
There were a few errors throughout, though it was tough to catch them unless you were really paying attention. Kalb got the count wrong on the first batter, saying it was 1-1 when it was actually 0-2. He also called a pitch location wrong once or twice. But his delivery was so flawless and he was so well-composed that fans might have missed that live and in the moment.
Overall, Kalb was fantastic

The surprise: Wall Street expected Ford's Q2 2026 earnings to fall about 5% year over year. Ford instead posted an increase. The stock jumped more than 6% after the report.
The quarter's story was Ford making more money on fewer sales. Wholesale volumes dropped 12% year over year, but revenue fell just 4%, because Ford sold a richer mix of high-margin trucks, off-roaders, and hybrids. Adjusted EBIT rose 17% year over year.
Ford raised full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance, the second raise this year.
Bull case: The real reason to own Ford is Ford Pro, its commercial fleet business, and it's the strongest ******* et any legacy automaker has. Pro sells to construction firms, delivery companies, and contractors — customers who keep buying through inflation and fuel spikes because a plumber can't stop showing up to jobs. Those buyers are far steadier than the average consumer, who is pulling back right now. And Pro isn't just vans. It's an entire infrastructure of service centers, parts, and fleet software that builds a real moat. Fleet managers won't switch to unproven rivals without a big reason, so undercutting Pro means rebuilding that whole ecosystem. Even in a weak quarter dragged down by a plant fire, Pro posted a 9.7% EBIT margin, roughly double Ford Blue's 4.4%.
The second leg is the shift to higher-margin, recurring revenue. Ford Pro paid subscriptions hit 1.6 million in Q2 2026, up 50% year over year, and BlueCruise ******* isted-driving now makes up half of retail services revenue. Software margins beat metal by a wide gap, and if Ford hits its target of 8% margins on services by 2029, that flywheel starts to move the whole company.

Minnesota pitcher Joe Ryan is headed back to Minneapolis while dealing with a back and glute issue.
The Twins All-Star left the team after starting in their 8-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals in Missouri on Tuesday. He'll be evaluated by their team doctor, though specifics of his injury are not yet known. His next start is now very much in doubt.
"That's what we're trying to figure out," manager Derek Shelton said on Wednesday, via The Athletic. "He's frustrated and not able to replicate his delivery. … The ability to repeat his delivery, I'm not going to say it's not physical. But we owe it to him and to us to find out what he's feeling and how he's going about it."
Ryan gave up four runs and seven hits in the team's six-run loss at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday. It marked his latest rough outing, too. The All-Star holds a 9.39 ERA and has given up 25 hits over his last three starts, all of which have been losses. He gave up a major league record six home runs in a start against the Cleveland Guardians last month, too.
It didn't appear that anything happened specifically during his start on Tuesday. Shelton said that they didn't believe his injury was arm-related, but instead limited to his lower body. Ryan didn't have much of an update after the game, either, but did say that he "definitely" didn't feel capable in his delivery on the mound.

Management believes the company is in the early stages of a once-in-a-generation transmission demand super cycle, driving record OEC on rent and historically high utilization.
Record STEM revenue was driven by strong utility end market demand and high delivery volumes, though backlog decreased sequentially due to record Q2 deliveries.
The SER segment achieved a 700 basis point margin expansion year-over-year, attributed to improved rental fundamentals and pricing discipline in transmission and distribution markets.
Strategic chassis prebuy actions and inventory positioning have been implemented to mitigate potential disruptions from upcoming EPA '27 NOx emission regulations.

Pakistan avoided a series defeat by beating the West Indies by eight wickets in the second Test in Port of Spain on Wednesday. The win ended Pakistan's eight-match losing streak in away Tests and gave them their first Test victory outside home in three years.
The two-match series finished 1-1 after the West Indies had won the first Test by 90 runs.
It was Pakistan's first away Test win since July 2023, when they defeated Sri Lanka under Babar Azam's captaincy. Since then, Pakistan went through several changes in coaches, selectors and captains, with Babar stepping down from the role twice. This time, the combination of captain Babar Azam and head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed helped Pakistan return to winning ways overseas.
Pakistan chased down the target of 75 runs on the fourth morning, reaching 77/2 shortly after the first session. Abdullah Shafique, who scored a century in the first innings, remained unbeaten on 24, while captain Babar Azam also finished unbeaten on 24.
Earlier, Pakistan bowled out the West Indies for 117 in their second innings inside the first half-hour of play on a wearing Queen's Park Oval pitch. Off-spinner Sajid Khan took 4/32 and left-arm spinner Ali Usman claimed 4/39 as the pair shared eight wickets.
The West Indies began the day on 106/3 with a lead of 60 runs, but their lower order could not add much. Ali Usman dismissed Kemar Roach and Shamar Joseph, while Justin Greaves, the last recognised batter, added only two runs before playing Mohammad Ali's delivery back onto his stumps while attempting a cross-batted shot.
The West Indies were also without opener Brandon King in the second innings. He could not bat because of a back injury suffered on Day 3 when he ran out Babar Azam with a direct hit from short cover.
Pakistan's previous away Test win had also come under Babar Azam against Sri Lanka in 2023. During Shan Masood's time as captain, Pakistan lost 3-0 in Australia, 2-0 in South Africa and 2-0 in Bangladesh.
Masood was removed as captain after Pakistan's poor run in Test cricket. Babar returned to the role but Pakistan lost the first Test against the West Indies in Tarouba, which became their eighth consecutive away Test defeat before bouncing back in Port of Spain.
The victory also changed the standings in the World Test Championship. Pakistan moved up to eighth place with 22.22% of points after two wins and four defeats in six matches. The West Indies dropped to ninth with 20.83% of points after two wins in 12 matches.

After making several moves this year to win back customers, Home Depot is making headlines again over a lawsuit that alleges it violated customers' rights.
In 2025, the home-improvement giant had a ******* py year, marked by several consumer boycotts over its decision to cut its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies; its alleged cooperation with ICE's immigration crackdown; and price hikes to address tariff pressures.
In 2026, it turned a new leaf by making several moves to lure shoppers back to its stores and offerings. Home Depot made a major expansion of its "Pro" ecosystem with high-tech tools such as an AI-powered Material List Builder and a first-of-its-kind real-time GPS delivery tracker for bulky materials. It also improved the physical store experience with Wahlburger's food trailers and expanded its rewards program.
Now, the home improvement retailer is facing legal challenges after being accused of using its customers' personal data without their consent.

Blake Snell took another step toward rejoining the Dodgers starting rotation on Tuesday night, pitching 3 2/3 innings in his fourth and potentially final minor league rehab start, this time for Triple-A Oklahoma City on the road to face the Salt Lake Bees, and Angels affiliate.
This was a labored effort for Snell, who allowed a leadoff home run, one of two longballs he gave up on Tuesday. Snell also walked four. That drove up Snell's pitch count to 73 in 3 2/3 innings in a start the Dodgers hoped to see Snell complete five innings.
Prior to Tuesday, Snell had excellent control on this rehab **** ignment, walking only one of his 29 batters faced in his first three starts, the free pass coming on July 18 for Oklahoma City in Tacoma.
Snell just four pitches into the game, after the leadoff home run by Kyren Paris, had issue with the landing spot for his front foot on the mound. The grounds crew fixed the dirt and he didn't appear to have any problems with his delivery after that, though he did walk the aforementioned four batters after that happened.
A 27-pitch second inning didn't help Snell's effort to pitch deeper into the game. Two of his three strikeouts came in the fourth inning, his final frame.
