Nidal Malik Hasan, a former Army officer and psychiatrist who killed 13 people and injured 32 others during a mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009, will be executed by a U.S. Army firing squad, the Pentagon announced Monday.
"Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended — and President Donald J. Trump has approved — death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, the jihadist who opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009," Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell announced. "He killed 13 people and wounded 32 others while shouting 'Allahu Akbar' during the attack.
"The Secretary of the Army will set the time and place of the execution," he continued. "Judgement day for Hasan has finally come."
If Hasan's execution is indeed carried out by a firing squad, it would mark the first such case for the service since Jan. 31, 1945, when Pvt. Eddie D. Slovik was executed by a U.S. Army firing squad in France for desertion during World War II.
The last death sentence carried out by the U.S. military was in 1961, when Army Pvt. John Bennett was executed by hanging at the gallows in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, after he was convicted of raping and attempting to kill a young girl.

OpenAI has fired three researchers for allegedly mishandling information, including work that involved an external organisation that ****** yses artificial intelligence (AI) models.
"Our investigation confirmed that these individuals mishandled sensitive information outside established company procedures, violating our policies and breaking the trust essential to our work," a spokesperson told the BBC.
The ChatGPT-maker did not name the sacked workers, but at least two of them were involved in safety research at the firm.
The firings come as the debate over AI safety and the risks the technology may pose to humanity has intensified in recent weeks.
"We have parted ways with three individuals for violating our policies on accessing and handling sensitive company information," OpenAI's spokesperson said.

BAGHDAD (AP) — The U.S. military announced on Wednesday that it has completed the withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq, ending a 12-year mission to fight the Islamic State group. The last U.S. troops left an air base in northern Iraq under a deal between Baghdad and Washington.
The withdrawal, agreed on two years ago, comes against the backdrop of the ongoing war between the United States and Iran that has also sometimes spilled over into Iraq, with Iran-backed militias firing on U.S. troops and the U.S. striking the groups' strongholds.
Baghdad touted the end of the U.S. mission as a sign of the country's increasing strength and sovereignty.
The withdrawal was also celebrated by Iran-backed groups but raised concerns among some other Iraqis, particularly in the Kurdish region. Meanwhile, questions loom around the future of the Iraqi militias, which the Baghdad government has sought — with little success so far — to disarm.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement that U.S. troops and equipment had completed an "orderly departure" from the air base in Irbil, in northern Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region.

SEOUL, Sept 20 (Reuters) - North Korea launched two missiles off its eastern coast on Sunday, its second set of tests in roughly a week and days after Pyongyang accused the ‌US of driving tensions on the Korean Peninsula through a series of military drills.
Just three hours ‌after launching a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) toward the East Sea on Sunday afternoon, North Korea fired another short-range ballistic missile, according to South Korea's defence ministry.
If the subsequent launch is confirmed to be a ballistic missile, it will mark two consecutive ballistic missile tests by North Korea within a three-hour window.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the first test firing from the Wonsan area around 3 p.m. (0600 GMT), identifying the weapon as a ‌ballistic missile. ***** an's defence ministry also said it appeared to be a ballistic missile.
Japanese public broadcaster NHK said the projectile had come down outside ***** an's exclusive economic zone.

On September 15, Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc (NASDAQ:JAZZ) completed its acquisition of privately held Actio Biosciences for $820 million upfront, adding a clinical-stage epilepsy drug called ABS-1230 to its rare disease pipeline. The deal lands weeks after Jazz posted its highest quarterly revenue ever on August 3, and raised its full-year guidance, so a fresh acquisition now sits on top of a business that was already accelerating. The question for investors is whether that combination adds up to durable growth or just a bigger bill.
ABS-1230 targets KCNT1-related epilepsy, a rare and hard-to-treat form of the disease. In an early clinical proof-of-concept trial, children who received the drug experienced meaningful seizure reductions, and preclinical testing showed it inhibited KCNT1 across every pathogenic mutation researchers evaluated, hinting it could work across the whole patient population rather than a narrow subset. The FDA has already granted ABS-1230 Orphan Drug, Rare Pediatric Disease and Fast Track designations, and accepted it into the agency's Rare Disease Evidence Principles process, a set of regulatory advantages that can speed a drug toward approval.
The acquisition also arrives while Jazz's existing business is firing on multiple cylinders. Second-quarter revenue climbed 16% year over year to $1.2 billion, the company's highest quarterly total on record, and management raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $4.6 billion to $4.75 billion. Growth was not confined to one product. Xywav sales rose 13% to $471 million on 525 net new patients, Epidiolex grew 16% to $292 million, and Zepzelca jumped 42% to $106 million. Zanidatamab, sold as Ziihera in biliary tract cancer, also received Breakthrough Therapy designation from the FDA for a form of colorectal cancer, adding another avenue for the oncology franchise Jazz has been building beyond its epilepsy and sleep businesses.
None of that came free. The $820 million upfront payment for Actio lands on top of $4.4 billion in long-term debt that Jazz already carried as of June 30, even after the company used part of its cash to repay $1.0 billion of exchangeable notes that matured this year. Cash, equivalents and investments stood at $2.2 billion at that point, meaning the Actio payment alone accounts for a meaningful share of the company's liquid resources.
Jazz's recent history also shows how acquisitions can distort the bottom line before they pay off. A $905.4 million in-process research and development charge tied to the 2025 Chimerix acquisition pushed second-quarter 2025 GAAP earnings to a loss of $11.74 per share, and a smaller $77 million IPR&D charge from the AbCellera and Werewolf deals still dented second-quarter 2026 results. ABS-1230 itself remains early, with only proof-of-concept data in hand and no late-stage trial results yet. The portfolio is not without setbacks, either. Jazz is moving to voluntarily drop the second-line indication for Zepzelca in meta

CAIRO (AP) — Saudi Arabia accused Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels overnight of trying to attack Islam's holiest city, prompting condemnation from countries in the region but no sign of military support. The kingdom, a key U.S. ally, declared Mecca a "red line" as it slid deeper into the new front of the Iran war.
With the world's biggest oil exporter under fire from the rebels backed by the Saudis' regional adversary, Tehran, the kingdom needs a safe outlet for its crude as well as military ******* istance. A path to either one remains unclear.
A crucial Saudi pipeline has reportedly been shut down for weeks after an attack by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq. The Yemen-based Houthis have been targeting infrastructure in the kingdom as well as its shipping on the Red Sea, where they have seized several islands on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. And Iran is still targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices remain above $100 a barrel.
The Houthis denied firing drones toward Mecca, about 1,100 kilometers (680 miles) from Yemen's border. The Saudis said they intercepted and destroyed the drone before it entered the airspace over the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad.
The attacks are the first test of a new defense pact among Saudi Arabia, NATO member Turkey and nuclear power Pakistan. But officials from Turkey and Pakistan told The ******* ociated Press they have not received a Saudi request for support in response to the Houthis' escalation.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — As first impressions go, the new-look Buffalo Bills under Joe Brady opened the season looking much like the team previously coached by Sean McDermott.
And that's not an altogether good thing.
Josh Allen was a near one-man offensive show in a 36-31 win at Houston that featured eight lead changes, including four in the final quarter. He threw two TD passes and had two rushing for his 25th four-touchdown career outing; improved to 24-8 when topping 300 yards passing; and pulled out the victory with his 26th game-winning drive.
Breathtaking as the performance was, it was also reminiscent of the recent past with Allen once again required to patch over the defense's deficiencies. This was one of the reasons the Bills changed course in January by firing McDermott after Buffalo's defensive dud in a 33-30 overtime playoff loss to Denver.
Though on Sunday the defense came up with a victory-sealing stop on Greg Rousseau's strip-sack of C.J. Stroud with 9 seconds remaining at the Bills 18, it marked one of the few times Buffalo got the Texans off the field.

Florida State is in search of a new athletic director after the university fired Michael Alford on Monday, Sep. 14, four years after he was hired.
The move was made by FSU president Richard McCullough, who said the Seminoles' athletic program needs to better position itself for the future of collegiate athletics. When he spoke with the media Monday morning, McCullough gave insight into what FSU is looking for in its next athletic director.
He placed a value on business acumen and cited the need for success in revenue generation, while also being savvy enough to navigate the complexities of modern collegiate sports, particularly football.
While no move is imminent, here are a few names that make our initial FSU AD hot board.
Dickey has led the Broncos since 2021, and during his time as the program's athletic director, ***** ey has had a huge impact on revenue generation for the program. That's an area that McCullough highlighted as being important to the Seminoles next AD when speaking to the media after Alford's firing. ***** ey, named the 2025 National ***** ociation of Collegiate Directors of Athletics AD of the year, has overseen Boise State's transition from the Mountain West into the reimagined Pac-12, which would suit FSU and the university's potential interest in departing the ACC.

As Florida State prepares to visit Alabama football Saturday to complete the back end of a home-and-home series, its football coach, Mike Norvell, is firmly planted on the hottest seat in the ACC. As it turns out, however, athletics director Michael Alford's seat was even hotter.
The school fired Alford Monday after just four years on the job − he got less time than the most high-profile football coaches and less than Norvell himself. Alford's predecessor, David Coburn, had a four-year run of his own. Prior to that, Stan Wilcox lasted just five years in the role. One departure was a resignation, another a retirement, and the third a firing, but collectively, they represent a lot of administrative upheaval.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell met with local media Monday to open Alabama week after Michael Alford's firing as athletic director, discussing, among other things, three availability updates.
"First off, with the news of today, definitely wanted to start off just thanking Michael Alford and Laura, for all the work and the time that we get to spend together over these last few years," Norvell said. "Two of the best people I've had an opportunity to be around."
"Obviously, as we move forward into this week, all of our focus is going to be on this game," Norvell said. "It's a big game. It's our first road game of the season … an opportunity to go out there and be on an incredible stage against a very talented football team."
Norvell shared that freshman linebackers Izayia Williams and Daylen Green will miss the rest of the season. Veteran linebacker Blake Nichelson will miss an extended period of time but is expected back this year.
"Those guys, they had the injuries, Daylen in the last game and then Izayia (has) been dealing with some things," Norvell said. "With some guys going down, the opportunity for others to rise up, whether it's defensively there at linebacker, whether it's opportunities there in special teams, it'll be an open-door opportunity for guys on this team."

Florida State football rumors: Is Jimbo Fisher an option to replace Mike Norvell if he's fired? appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Florida State Seminoles fired Michael Alford as athletic director on Monday. After the University made its final decision to switch things up for its future in sports, rumors began swirling around Mike Norvell's job security as the head coach of the football program. The rumors have already gotten to the point that there is now some buzz that Jimbo Fisher could reprise his role as the Seminoles' head coach if Norvell were to be let go.
While that may be the case, Florida State President Richard McCullough didn't provide much details about Norvell's position. When asked firing the athletic director means for the 44-year-old head coach's future with the program, McCullough claimed that FSU is simply focused on winning, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.
"Nobody wants to win more than Mike Norvell," McCullough said. "College coaches are in the winning business. That's what we're working on."

Florida State Athletics has moved on from Athletic Director Michael Alford after four years leading the program, and the news has taken the Seminoles fanbase by surprise.
While Alford's dismissal itself isn't a surprise given the recent underperformance of the Seminoles football program under head coach Mike Norvell, the timing of the firing was a shock. His firing was announced Monday morning, and it comes the week of FSU's trip to face No. 10 Alabama, a game of significance for the future of Norvell.
Alford's tenure included significant accomplishments across FSU athletics and several marquee coaching hires. Yet the struggles of the football program under Norvell since 2024, an 8-18 record, have overshadowed much of that success, emerging as the most prominent challenge of his time as athletics director.
He also faced scrutiny regarding the department's handling of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and roster funding, particularly in football, and the department's massive debt.

Freiburg were firmly in control at the break against Borussia Mönchengladbach after first-half goals from Yannik Engelhardt and Igor Matanovic.
Matanovic caused Gladbach problems almost immediately, dispossessing Ko Itakura, before having an opportunity to release Yuito Suzuki inside the opening minutes, only to struggle to get the ball out of his feet.
The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 23rd minute, when Derry Scherhant's corner found Engelhardt, whose looping header caught Moritz Nicolas in no man's land and dropped into the net.
Six minutes later, Freiburg doubled their advantage, with Matthias Ginter firing a sharp pass towards Matanovic on the edge of the penalty area and, with plenty of pace already on the ball, the striker simply guided it beyond Nicolas and in off the post.
At that point, Gladbach were in danger of being overwhelmed as Freiburg threatened to turn an already commanding first half into a rout.

After an emotional 20-point comeback win at Ponte Vedra, Merritt Island played its first home game of the season against district foe Astronaut on Sept. 11.
The Mustangs showed no hangover effect, scoring five touchdowns and one field goal on six offensive possessions to defeat the War Eagles 45-0.
"I thought we came out and played a really clean game. That was the big point of emphasis this week. Last week, we had about 19 penalties in the first quarter and 27 overall and that's not indicative of what we are as a culture and as a football team," Merritt Island head coach Tyler Murray said. "We got after them a little bit this week. We played really smart. We celebrated with our teammates. We were firing on all cylinders."
It was a balanced offensive distribution for Merritt Island as five different players scored a touchdown. The Mustangs finished the game with 428 yards on 27 plays.
"We want to play basketball on a football field," Murray said. "We want to distribute the ball as much as we can."

The San Francisco 49ers came out firing on every cylinder to deliver a 27-7 beatdown Down Under of the Los Angeles Rams. From the decision to arrive early to their piling on late scoring, how well did Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan and the crew do in upsetting the Super Bowl favorites to start the season?
Offense: A-
The old guys ruled. And that Kaelon Black kid wasn't too shabby. A 30-something (Demarcus Robinson, Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel) accounted for their three TDs and an almost 40-something, Trent Williams, was the best of the bunch, because you and I had as many tackles, QB hits and sacks as Rams' All-Universe pass rusher Myles Garrett. Less happily, De'Zhaun Stribling and Jake Tonges were carted away in the second quarter. George Kittle was a rumor. Yet Brock Purdy didn't notice. Outside of a horrific interception, Purdy was terrific with his arm, legs and swaggy first-down celebrations. Does Christian McCaffrey finally have a caddy? Yes. Rookie Black looked excellent in a real game after resembling a third-round find in the spring and summer.
Defense: A+
Raheem Morris in 2028? The well-respected new defensive coordinator looked like Bill Belichick (the pre-2022 version) while his unit made the reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford look ordinary. Sorry, correction: not just ordinary, but awful. Having Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw (combined games played for 49ers in 2025: 9) back together did give Morris some added IQ points. The LB duo turned out the lights on the Rams when Greenlaw held up Tyler Higbee and Warner peanut-punched the ball out. The 49ers didn't have a sack, but they made Stafford unsettled. Osa Odighizuwa had four of their eight QB hits, including a pressure that led to Stafford's INT.

Henry Winkler is opening up about his decades-long feud with Tom Hanks, admitting he is still processing what went wrong while leaving the door open for a potential reconciliation.
Speaking on "In Depth With Graham Bensinger," the Emmy-winning actor revisited the turning point in their relationship: his high-profile firing as director of the 1989 comedy "Turner & Hooch," which starred Hanks, now 70.
Winkler recalled that he felt unsuited to direct the movie from the start but accepted the job after a Paramount executive handpicked him. His overzealousness and early insecurity quickly backfired once he got on set.
"I went completely against my tummy, and it hit me in the face with a 2-by-4," Winkler said. "I now meet the puppies, and I meet with Tom [Hanks] ... and I, at that time being insecure, I talked too much and I gave them direction. I [did] what I thought was my job, and I wanted to do it over again and apparently that p**ed them off."
The job lasted less than two weeks. Studio executive Jeffrey Katzenberg called Winkler into his office to tell him his work was not showing up in the daily footage.

On August 6, Nova (NASDAQ:NVMI) reported second-quarter 2026 results for the three months ended June 30, and the numbers marked a new high point for the semiconductor metrology company. Revenue hit $255.0 million, up 8% from the first quarter of 2026 and 16% higher than the second quarter of 2025. GAAP net income reached $75 million, while non-GAAP net income climbed to $86.5 million. For a company built around measuring the tiniest details in chip manufacturing, the quarter itself was anything but small.
The headline figures tell part of the story, but the breakdown underneath is where the quarter gets interesting. GAAP earnings per diluted share reached $2.20 in the second quarter of 2026, up from $2.04 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.14 a year earlier in the second quarter of 2025. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share went further, hitting $2.51 in the second quarter of 2026 compared with $2.33 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.20 in the second quarter of 2025. That is back-to-back sequential growth on both a GAAP and non-GAAP basis, not just a single strong quarter against an easy comparison.
Two product lines did the heavy lifting. Nova posted record revenue from its advanced logic devices business, which it tied to the industry's shift toward Gate-All-Around transistor architecture and rising demand for advanced process nodes. Advanced packaging solutions also hit a record, supported by capacity additions across both logic and memory manufacturing. Those are two distinct growth engines firing in the same quarter, which matters more than a single hot product line would.
Management is not treating this as a one-off. For the third quarter of 2026, the period ending September 30, Nova guided to revenue of $277 million to $287 million, GAAP diluted EPS of $2.46 to $2.61, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $2.70 to $2.85. At the midpoint, that outlook points to another double-digit sequential jump in sales. President and CEO Gaby Waisman framed the quarter as validation of the company's long-term plan, citing broad-based customer demand, continued market share gains, and deeper engagement across leading-edge device segments as the drivers behind what he described as increased visibility into coming quarters.
The results were not clean across every line. Gross margin came in at 56.5% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 57.7% in the first quarter of 2026 and 57.8% in the second quarter of 2025. That is a decline on both a sequential and year-over-year basis even as revenue set records, which means the mix of what Nova sold this quarter carried lower profitability than what it sold a year ago.

The Buffalo Bills have the similar expectations heading into the 2026 NFL season that they have had in recent years.
Will the Bills reach the Super Bowl in 2026?
The Bills are widely considered to be one of the strongest Super Bowl contender in the AFC heading into next season.
Quarterback Josh Allen has star wide receiver DJ Moore to look to as his new No. 1 wide receiver, while Khalil Shakir offers strong WR2 production and James Cook has the ability to lead the league in rushing again in 2026. Defensively, things were shaken up by the addition of coordinator Jim Leonhard following the firing of former head coach Sean McDermott.
The ***** ociated Press' predicted that the Bills will in fact reach the Super Bowl next season, but lose to the Philadelphia Eagles.

PRAIRIE VIEW - Last year's Labor Day Classic was not decided until the final play. On Sunday at Panther Stadium, Prairie View's Jahbari Kuykendall returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, setting off a range of emotions from both teams and their fan bases.
That is the Texas Southern-Prairie View A&M rivalry in a nutshell. Exciting games are the norm. From start to finish.
Prairie View won last year's matchup on a walk-off touchdown. Sunday's game was not as close. And again, the outcome favored the Panthers.
The Panthers came out firing and did not let up in routing TSU 52-14 in a game that was nationally televised on ESPN2.
After leading 17-7 at halftime, Prairie View (1-1) outscored TSU 28-0 in the third quarter.

Former Boston Red Sox coach and manager Joe Morgan has died at age 95, the team announced Sunday. He was 95.
Morgan spent three and a half seasons as the Red Sox's manager, taking over the job partway through the 1988 season. That year, he led Boston to a 89-73 record and an AL East **** le. The stretch following Morgan's hire was dubbed "Morgan Magic," as the Red Sox won 12 straight coming out of the All-Star break.
"Joe Morgan holds a special place in Red Sox history," Red Sox owner John Henry said in a statement from the team. "When he took over in 1988, he changed the course of a season and created one of the most memorable chapters in the history of this club. The two division **** les that followed only strengthened a bond with Red Sox fans that endured for the rest of his life."
"Joe Morgan managed the Red Sox during some of my most formative years as a fan," Red Sox President & CEO Sam Kennedy said. "Joe made us believe, and when you experience that as a kid, it stays with you. I was fortunate enough to get to know him later in life and found an even better person than the baseball man I had admired. I will miss him deeply."
As noted by Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner noted in the statement, 2026 has seen echos of the 1988 season: After the sudden firing of manager Alex Cora in April, Boston surged through the summer and is comfortably in an AL wild card spot.

Despite leading twice against Everton at the Hill ***** inson Stadium, the spoils were ultimately shared between Manchester United and the hosts.
Michael Carrick's men have now lost, won and drawn in their opening three Premier League fixtures.
Indeed, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko's best efforts were not enough for the Red Devils to head back to Manchester with all three points in the bag.
United were holding on to their 2-1 lead from the 88th minute, when Benjamin Sesko headed home from a stellar Luke Shaw cross, until the sixth minute of injury time.
That was when scrappy play inside the area resulted in Ainsley Maitland-Niles capitalising on a loose ball outside the box and firing a long-range strike past Senne Lammens.

Through its effectiveness, game management and composure to hold onto the result, Chivas defeated Atlético San Luis 3-0 this afternoon at Estadio Libertad Financiera in Jornada 7 of the Apertura 2026. The team coached by Gabriel Milito has found consistency at the start of the second third of the tournament, reaching 14 points and temporarily moving into second place.
Guadalajara came out firing, as it already had a significant 0-2 lead before the 10-minute mark, thanks to the mobility of its players and the efficiency of its attackers in front of goal. Of course, this allowed the Rojiblancos to take control of the match.
With the support of the Chivahermanos in San Luis Potosí, who never stopped cheering, the Guadalajara side was able to manage Atlético's attempts to respond. At the same time, there was never a real sense of danger in Chiverío's defensive area, which in turn allowed Guadalajara to find the definitive goal.
Next week, Chivas will return home to host Pumas in J8 of AP26. The match will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 7:07 PM.

Well, it's safe to say that the new-look Nittany Lions understood the **** ignment. In Matt Campbell's first game as the head coach of the Nittany Lions, he had his squad firing on all cylinders in a commanding 45-0 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Quarterback Rocco Becht looked like the most experienced QB in the FBS, and receiver Koby Howard looked like a revelation with 161 receiving yards. On the defensive side of the ball, new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn's guys were flying, led by spirited efforts from Tony Rojas and Caleb Bacon.
Here are the players of the game for the Nittany Lions.
You remember when Rocco Becht mentioned that he would try to get Koby Howard over 1,000 receiving yards in the year? They got right to it Saturday afternoon with Howard putting on a clinic.
Penn State fans have been begging for a star receiver, and they may finally have one on their hands. With 6 catches and 161 yards, Howard was the leading receiver on the day and flashed his elite skill set, with one of his catches from redshirt freshman QB Alex Manske being one of his highlight catches on the day.

On September 1, Everus Construction Group (NYSE:ECG) completed a $295 million cash acquisition of Epsilon Industries, a maker of prefabricated mechanical and electrical systems with plants scattered across the US and Canada. Everus first disclosed the deal on July 31, and the closing lands only a month after the company posted a quarter in which revenue jumped by more than a third. Epsilon's off-site fabrication lines give Everus a faster way to build the data centers, factories, and hospitals reshaping its backlog.
Everus grew into this deal from a position of strength. Second quarter revenue climbed 33.7% to $1.23 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose 59.2% to $1.64, numbers that reflect more than accounting leverage. Backlog reached $4.55 billion, up 41% from the end of 2025 and up 52.8% from a year earlier, driven largely by the electrical and mechanical segment, where revenue rose 41.6%, and EBITDA jumped 71.6%. That segment's backlog alone hit $4.16 billion, fueled by project bookings that topped $2 billion in the quarter across data center, hospitality, and high-tech work.
Epsilon slots directly into that momentum. Its modular capabilities are meant to extend Everus's geographic reach and deepen its footprint in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and data center work, the same markets already driving backlog higher. Keeping Epsilon's president, Chris Wiederick, and its existing leadership in place suggests Everus wants continuity rather than a disruptive overhaul. Management raised full-year guidance to $4.5 billion to $4.7 billion in revenue and $410 million to $425 million in EBITDA even before folding in Epsilon's contribution, which it plans to detail during third-quarter earnings.
The growth comes with strings attached. Everus paid for Epsilon with cash on hand plus new borrowings under its credit facilities, its second acquisition this year after buying SE&M Constructors in the second quarter. Running two integrations at once raises the odds that something slips, whether in cost synergies or in the customer relationships that made both targets attractive in the first place. Net leverage stood at a modest 0.3x as of June 30, but that figure predates the Epsilon borrowings, so the real post-deal leverage is not yet known.
Not every part of the business is firing evenly, either. Transmission and distribution revenue grew only 7.1% in the quarter, and its backlog of $388.4 million actually sat below the $410.1 million reported a year earlier, even as the electrical and mechanical segment surged. That leaves Everus increasingly dependent on data center and commercial construction spending staying strong, a concentration that could cut the other way if that end market cools. And with the full financial impact of Epsilon not landing in guidance until third quarter results, investors are being asked to price in a deal whose numbers are still incomplete.

A member of the loan ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona enjoyed something of a breakout performance in the colours of his new club this weekend.
The player in question? Ronald Araújo.
Stopper Araújo of course brought a surprise close to his Barcelona stint earlier this summer, taking his talents to Premier League heavyweights Liverpool on loan for the duration of the campaign.
The Uruguayan had since endured something of a hit-and-miss start to life at Anfield, accused of looking clumsy across a pair of appearances off the bench.
On Friday evening, though, Araújo provided a glimpse at the kind of physical dominance of which he is capable when firing on all cylinders.

Texas football opens its season with a rare meeting against Hill Country neighbor Texas State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Royal-Memorial Stadium.
The No. 5 Longhorns boast one of the most impressive rosters in college football. Arch Manning returns as one of the country's best and most ballyhooed quarterbacks, and Texasopened its thick wallet in the transfer portal to bolster holes on the offensive line and sign star playmakers such as receiver Cam Coleman and running backs Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers.
Sixth-year head coach Steve Sarkisian also overhauled the defense by firing defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and bringing in the fiery Will Muschamp, who has been dissecting SEC defenses for 25 years.
Texas State, which hasn't played Texas since a 36-0 loss in 1930, is making a jump up to the Pac-12, albeit a watered-down version of the legendary West Coast-based league following several years of conference realignment.
Read below for live scores and updates as the No. 5 Texas Longhorns take on the Texas State Bobcats Saturday at Royal-Memorial Stadium in Austin.

A clip from the latest Forged in Foxborough episode has gone viral.
It's a video from the New England Patriots' joint training camp practice against the Philadelphia Eagles. A.J. Brown being traded to New England back in June instantly made it one of the most anticipated joint training camp practices of the year.
The Patriots came out firing on Day 1 with the offense consistently getting the better of the Eagles' defense. Most notably, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye's connection with Brown seemed unstoppable at times. There was one sequence where Brown separated from a defender on a route and caught an easy touchdown pass from Maye.
Williams could be seen standing on the sidelines trolling his former Eagles teammates, who had to watch Brown score for the Patriots.
"Guess who? Guess who?" Williams said.
