Lyon have signed Loïs Openda (26) on loan from Juventus, both clubs have announced. The Belgium international is back in Ligue 1 after taking France by storm three years ago. Openda logged 21 league goals in a single season with RC Lens, paving the way for him to join RB Leipzig in a €50m deal in 2023. Real Madrid are hoping to complete a blockbuster double transfer in the next few days, as they aim to finalise Jose Mourinho's squad ahead of the 2026-27 La Liga season getting underway in a few weeks' time. A deal for Yan Diomande in close, and following him to the Bernabeu could be Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
In recent weeks, Real Madrid have turned their attention back to Rodri. They were priced out of a move for leading target Enzo Fernandez, but that could work in their favour as they are closing in on signing one of the world's best midfielders, as well as the recipient of the 2026 World Cup Golden Ball.
Previously, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had ruled out signing Rodri as retribution for election rival Enrique Riquelme promising to bring the 30-year-old to the Bernabeu, but he's since changed his tune. The Community of Madrid has withdrawn Rayo Vallecano's concession for the Vallecas stadium in order to begin urgent renovation work. "There is no way to guarantee that nothing could happen," says the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco.
The immediate consequence is that Rayo will not be able to start the season in its own stadium. The Community of Madrid has not given specifics but estimates that the renovation work will last "months" and plans to begin "as early as tomorrow."
The regional government is taking this decision to "guarantee people's safety" and explains that the works will address possible fire safety or sanitation issues. "We are going to act with total urgency and try to do it in the shortest possible time," the minister said.
Rayo Vallecano uses the municipal stadium, which it does not own, through a concession granted by the Community of Madrid.
"We carried out an audit of the stadium that produced quite bleak results regarding the stadium's maintenance. That was, as we all know, the club's responsibility and direct obligation, as was regulatory compliance and licensing, and the Community of Madrid has made the decision to temporarily pause the concession so that these renovations can be carried out," Minister Mariano de Paco explained.

Teenage striker Fynn Schenten of 1. FC Köln is set to continue his development in the Netherlands with Roda JC Kerkrade. As previously reported, the season-long loan contains no purchase option, reflecting Köln's belief that the 18-year-old remains a long-term first-team prospect. Schenten joined the club at the age of eight and progressed through every academy level at the Geißbockheim before helping Köln win the German under-19 championship.

FFF president Philippe Diallo named Zidane "a legend of French football" in a news conference and said that Zidane has signed a contract until 2030.
Zidane, 54, won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as a player of a team captained by Deschamps. His only coaching experience are two terms at Real Madrid 2016-2018 and 2019-2021 during which he won three Champions Leagues and two LaLigas.

Remaining performance obligations reached a record $40.1 billion, including $37.1 billion for the IET segment, providing increased visibility into future revenue. Revenue totaled $6.74 billion, while adjusted EBITDA rose to $1.23 billion, exceeding the high end of the company's guidance range.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been cleared to return to full practice as he recovers from tearing knee ligaments late last season.
The three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback is "extremely optimistic" about lining up for the first game of regular season in September, said his coach Andy Reid.
"Right now he's been cleared to go ahead and participate fully" in practice, Reid told reporters Friday at the team's Missouri pre-season training camp.

"Right now he's been cleared to go ahead and participate fully" in practice, Reid told reporters Friday at the team's Missouri pre-season training camp.
The 30-year-old star, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls in six seasons and three crowns.
A disappointing season for the Chiefs last year was capped in December when Mahomes tore left knee ligaments, requiring surgery for the first major injury in his nine-year NFL career.

Paul Felder isn't confident Conor McGregor comes back better after UFC 329.
McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) tore his right ACL and meniscus in the first kick he threw against Max Holloway two weeks ago at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was waved off after just 69 seconds as McGregor was unable to continue.
McGregor attempted to come back after breaking his left leg in July 2021. He was first scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but a broken pinky toe forced him out. Despite the slew of injuries and unfortunate events, McGregor insists on fighting again. He thinks with "today's regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods," he can return as soon as summer of 2027.
"I do agree that with the advancements in medicine and things that you can do to support ligaments, and your knee, you can be back quick, but you're also way older than you were the first time you went through this surgery," Felder said on the "Believe You Me" podcast. "You didn't have a broken shin that you had already recovered from in the other leg.
"So I think yeah, he'll be back relatively quick, but I just don't know what your legs are going to be like after yet another big setback. I know he's trying to keep mentally strong. He keeps posting that he's not putting any substances in his body and I'm glad to hear that – good for him. But I just don't know if that's enough to get you back within a year, ready to go when you've had five years to get ready for this one, and your body still didn't seem to hold up to it."
