Comedian and podcast host Bill Maher called out deep-blue California on Monday and said the state's voters would always support a Democrat, even if their policies were failing, as long as President Donald Trump was ******* ociated with the Republican Party.
During an interview on "Club Random" with David Foster, Maher argued that California would never vote for a Republican as long as Trump was involved in the party.
Maher noted Spencer Pratt, a Republican who finished third in Los Angeles' mayoral race and therefore did not advance to the general election, had the instinct that California had a "failed system," and Maher agreed.
"It just shows that, in this state, I guess everywhere, we're so bipartisan now, that we will accept failure, which we plainly have here in California, over voting for the party of Trump," Maher said. "Which, I understand, because he does a lot of things that are I mean, plus, Jesus, I mean, I get a lot of s--- from him for the things I criticize just off the top of my head, vulgar, corrupt, doesn't concede elections, you know, inept at things that sometimes were a good idea to begin with. NEW DELHI: Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared a fun moment after East Zone's memorable Duleep Trophy 2026/27 triumph. Kishan, who captained East Zone in the final against South Zone, had a light-hearted exchange with his 15-year-old deputy over who should get the credit for the successful DRS calls during the match.
Kishan had a memorable final, scoring more than 350 runs across the two innings, including a stunning 270 in the first innings, and was named Player of the Match.
Kishan jokingly claimed that Sooryavanshi had taken all the credit for the DRS calls, even though the captain was the one who was initially going to take the reviews.
"Yeh sab review mein credit le hi liya hai har jagah. Bhale main lene waala tha review, but aake mast bol deta tha main aapke paas aa jaata hu. Phir toh internet will be like: Vaibhav! My goodness! I figured I wasn't going to post anything more until the Game Thread, but everyone is reporting that the Jays are calling up 30-year-old outfielder Rudy Martin. They picked up Martin off waivers from the Royals, back in July.
He was drafted by the Royals in the 25th round of the 2014 draft and he's played basically everywhere since, except for the major leagues, but that ends now (hopefully, I hope he gets into some games). I admire guys who keep playing, keep the dream alive.
This year, playing for three different minor league teams, he's hit .274/.394/421 with 11 home runs, 55 walks, 83 strikeouts and 45 steals in 369 at bats. He's played all three outfield spots in his career.
He's a left-handed batter.
And he's not on the 40-man roster, so there are a couple of moves that will have to be made.

Pat Mahomes Sr. has asked a Texas judge for permission to travel outside the state to watch his son play for the Kansas City Chiefs, a reason familiar to football parents everywhere. Mahomes Sr. is currently on probation following a 2024 DWI conviction.
According to court records reviewed by People and local station KLTV, the former MLB pitcher filed a motion on Friday, seeking approval to attend seven Chiefs games in Kansas City, Las Vegas and Cincinnati.
People reported that the 56-year-old is "hoping the court will allow him" to make the trips during the 2026 season. Notably, the filing does not ask the court to remove his supervision requirements.
Instead, Mahomes Sr. acknowledged that he would remain subject to urinalysis testing requested by his supervision officer before and after each trip.
The motion also states that Mahomes Sr. has completed 160 hours of community service and a 16-week outpatient treatment program.

With empty seats everywhere after he finished his U.S. Open first-round match in the early morning hours, he took two questions from reporters on the court and quickly wrapped it up.
"I think everybody's tired," he said. "Everybody wants to go to sleep."
The city that never sleeps is going a little overboard this year.
Players have long loved the electricity of night matches at the U.S. Open, where tennis under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium is a hallmark of the American Grand Slam tournament, with fans staying late and bringing plenty of energy. But with the tournament this year already setting a record with three post-2 a.m. finishes over the first six days, plus two more going past 1 a.m., concerns are bubbling up about how much after midnight is too much on such a big stage.

On September 3, Ermenegildo Zegna Group (NYSE:ZGN) reported first-half revenues of €987.3 million, up 6.4% year over year and 9.3% on an organic basis. Direct-to-consumer sales did nearly all the work, climbing 15.8% organically and now making up 86% of branded revenue. But headline profit told a rougher story, sliding to €28.4 million from €47.9 million a year earlier. The gap between a business growing almost everywhere that matters and a bottom line moving the other direction is what investors now have to untangle.
The clearest strength in the first half of 2026 is how much of Zegna's growth is coming from channels it controls directly. Direct-to-consumer revenue grew 12.1% as reported and 15.8% organically, while the Group deliberately shrank its wholesale business by 14.6% as it keeps trimming third-party accounts. The Zegna segment, which houses the flagship ZEGNA brand along with Textile, generated €724.3 million in revenue, up 9.7% year over year, with the ZEGNA brand itself growing 13.9% organically to €634.6 million. That segment's Adjusted EBIT Margin rose 50 basis points to 14.8%, driven by higher sales per square meter and better sell-through in its own stores.
Group-wide Adjusted EBIT rose to €74.5 million from €68.7 million, pushing the margin to 7.5%. The balance sheet moved in the right direction too, with the net cash surplus climbing to €59.6 million at June 30 from €52.1 million at December 31, 2025. Free cash flow flipped to a positive €19.2 million, compared with a negative €23.1 million a year earlier, helped by stronger operating cash flow and tighter working capital management. Even Tom Ford Fashion, still unprofitable, cut its Adjusted EBIT loss to €12.1 million from €19.4 million, a sign the newer brand is moving toward breakeven rather than away from it.
The drop in profit isn't just optics. H1 2025's €47.9 million figure included a €27.8 million non-cash gain from remeasuring non-controlling interest put option liabilities, a boost that didn't repeat this year. On top of that, the effective tax rate jumped to 38.8% from 29.6%, and the combined swing in financial expenses and foreign exchange moved to a negative €22.7 million from a positive €6.0 million. Together, those items explain most of the gap between a profit margin of 2.9% this year and 5.2% last year, even as operating profit itself improved to €68.5 million from €61.3 million.
Thom Browne is the segment causing the most concern. Revenue there fell 4.9% year over year to €123.1 million, and Adjusted EBIT swung to a loss of €8.3 million from a profit of €4.5 million, which the company attributed to foreign exchange pressure and investment in shifting the brand toward a retail-first model. Capital expenditure also climbed to €64 million from €54 million, largely tied to a new shoe production plant in Parma, and corporate costs rose to €12 million from €10.7 million as the Group builds out its structure.

BERLIN (AP) — Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers made the most of their World Cup debuts to help the United States rout China in the opener of the tournament.
Clark had 14 points and 11 ******* ists and Bueckers added another 14 points as the Americans topped China 94-61 on Friday.
It was the first of likely many times that Clark and Bueckers will play together in the U.S. backcourt over the next decade for the senior national team.
"It's just organic. We know how to play well off of each other," Bueckers said. "She draws so much defensive attention, so a lot of the defense is worried about her."
Clark loved having so many offensive options, including Bueckers. Everywhere she turned to pass there was a teammate waiting to score.

Yet during the entire news cycle, Cunningham has been conspicuously absent from her own podcast, Show Me Something. No new episodes of the show have been published since July 21.
The podcast, produced and distributed by The Volume, was launched as a destination for the outspoken veteran's musings on the WNBA and her very closely watched Indiana Fever team. On August 10, Chemours (NYSE:CC) launched two new refrigerants, Opteon ZE and Opteon 515B, built specifically for stationary chillers that cool data centers, commercial buildings, and other facilities that cannot afford downtime. The announcement lands as data center operators everywhere are scrambling to keep pace with the heat that AI workloads generate, and Chemours is betting its chemistry can be part of the answer.
Chemours designed these products around a specific problem: AI infrastructure is pushing heat loads and uptime requirements past what older cooling systems were built for. Joseph Martinko, President of Thermal & Specialized Solutions at Chemours, said the company is expanding the choices available to chiller manufacturers and operators as they build and maintain the systems powering data centers and other mission-critical environments. That framing matters because it puts Chemours squarely inside the AI infrastructure buildout rather than on its periphery, and the company describes this as part of a broader push into higher-value, high-growth cooling applications.
The two products are designed to work together rather than compete for the same customer. Opteon ZE, the R-1234ze(E) formulation, is an HFO-based refrigerant with a GWP of approximately 1 and zero ozone depletion potential, aimed at air- and water-cooled chillers, commercial air conditioning, heat pumps, and data center cooling specifically. It also offers high energy efficiency and works with commonly used POE lubricants, which matters for equipment makers who do not want to redesign their systems from scratch.
Opteon 515B is a blend of roughly 91.1% R-1234ze(E) and 8.9% R-227ea, with a GWP near 293, pitched at operators running conventional chillers who want an easier path away from higher-GWP refrigerants without a full system overhaul. Having both a near-zero-GWP option and a lower-friction transitional option lets Chemours sell into new builds and legacy fleets at the same time.
The launch is not without caveats. Opteon ZE carries an ASHRAE A2L classification, meaning it is mildly flammable, while Opteon 515B carries the non-flammable A1 rating. That difference alone could steer certain customers toward one product over the other depending on local codes and installation requirements.

The Washington Commanders open the 2026 NFL season in 10 days. Washington goes on the road for the first two games against NFC East foes Philadelphia and Dallas. It's a rough stretch to open the season for the Commanders, and being as close to 100% healthy is critical.
We know Washington will be without star left tackle Laremy Tunsil (torn triceps) and defensive tackle Johnny Newton (torn pec). The Commanders have the depth to withstand Newton's loss, but you can't replace someone of Tunsil's caliber. He's a Hall-of-Fame talent and remains one of the NFL's best at his position.
The good news for Washington is it has Brandon Coleman. While Tunsil's injury takes Coleman away from the left guard position, the third-year lineman has experience playing left tackle. He was the Commanders' left tackle during their 12-5 2024 season. He also had three starts in Philadelphia: two in his rookie year and one last season.
How healthy are the Commanders everywhere else? Over the past few days, they've gotten much healthier. Several key players have returned to practice, including Daron Payne, Marcus Mariota, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, K'Lavon Chaisson and others. Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Carla Jeffery, the Disney actor best known for her appearances in the ZOMBIES TV film franchise, has died at the age of 33, her agency announced Wednesday.
She died Tuesday, Carla Alexander of Alexanders Talent Management said in a statement on Instagram. Details of Jeffery's death were not provided.
"Carla was more than a client; she was family," Alexander said.
"For more than 20 years, Carla was part of the Alexanders Talent Management family, and watching her grow from a talented young girl into the beautiful, vibrant woman and actress she became was an incredible privilege," she continued in the caption to the post.
"We will remember her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went."
