Pat Mahomes Sr. has asked a Texas judge for permission to travel outside the state to watch his son play for the Kansas City Chiefs, a reason familiar to football parents everywhere. Mahomes Sr. is currently on probation following a 2024 DWI conviction.
According to court records reviewed by People and local station KLTV, the former MLB pitcher filed a motion on Friday, seeking approval to attend seven Chiefs games in Kansas City, Las Vegas and Cincinnati.
People reported that the 56-year-old is "hoping the court will allow him" to make the trips during the 2026 season. Notably, the filing does not ask the court to remove his supervision requirements.
Instead, Mahomes Sr. acknowledged that he would remain subject to urinalysis testing requested by his supervision officer before and after each trip.
The motion also states that Mahomes Sr. has completed 160 hours of community service and a 16-week outpatient treatment program.

Davis says the NBA picked him over other retired players mentioned in the investigation, leading him to spend nearly two years in prison in addition to three years of supervision. Big Baby expressed his frustration with the process that led to his imprisonment while others mentioned in the indictment, including his former Boston Celtics teammates Kendrick Perkins and Tony Allen, didn't, he explained, per Locked In with Ian Bick. "They literally wanted to make me out to be an example. There was a lot of people that got investigated," Davis said. "Kendrick Perkins, you see him on ESPN. Tony Allen—he was literally the third person on the indictment, with his wife. He's not walking in jail. Darius Miles—he's not walking in jail. And these guys got money, like thousands of dollars. How'd I end up in jail and these guys are on probation/walking free; their whole life is still intact. "I think the NBA let the feds pick who they wanted to choose. 180 people were investigated/supenoed. We didn't hear about all those people. We just heard about the 22 people that got caught, or that got jammed in the situation. A lot of people pleaded out. They didn't go to jail. They didn't even go get time served."

The family of a South East High School football player who died after suffering a brain injury during a game has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School District, alleging the district failed to provide safe conditions.
Christopher Garcia, a 16-year-old junior varsity football player, suffered the injury in 2024 after making a defensive tackle during a game. Attorneys for the family on Tuesday released footage of the play.
The video shows Garcia tackling a receiver before his head struck the field. He was later placed into a medically induced coma and died 11 days later.
According to the lawsuit, Garcia's family alleges the district failed to provide "safe facilities, proper equipment, and adequate supervision," which they contend led to their son's death.
Garcia's sister, Kimberly Garcia, spoke on behalf of the family regarding the lawsuit they have filed.

Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater returned to the practice field on Saturday.
Slater missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during last summer's training camp. While he was initially cleared, a little flare-up in his surgically repaired left knee on August 4 forced the team to exercise caution.
After sitting out eight consecutive practices and missing the preseason matchup against the 49ers, Slater finally made his way back to action in a limited capacity. He participated in individual drills and the opening period of 11-on-11 team reps before moving aside to finish his day under the supervision of trainers.
Though Slater's workload is being heavily managed, there is plenty of reason for optimism regarding his return. Slater previously stated that his knee feels "strong and stable," adding that he appreciates the organization's "smart and thoughtful" approach to his long-term health.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh has indicated that he hopes to play his healthy starters for two full drives in the upcoming preseason game against the Rams on Thursday. Whether the coaching staff fields Slater or keeps him for the Week 1 opener against the Cardinals, his return signals that the offensive anchor is right on track.

Perez Hilton has been granted permission to see his children while his mother has temporary custody.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that a judge has granted Hilton visitation with his three children, on condition that he is supervised by either a family member agreed upon by both parties or a therapist.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, must first obtain psychiatric clearance. The supervision order will stay in place until the court orders otherwise, or Hilton and his mother both agree to a different arrangement.
The judge officially granted Perez's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, temporary legal custody of his children: son Mario Armando, 13, and daughters Mia Alma, 11, and Mayte Amor, eight. The order notes that Hilton, as their only legal parent, consented to the arrangement.
Lavandeira now has authority over major decisions for the children's care, including medical care and school enrolment.
Lavandeira filed for temporary custody after Perez was hospitalised earlier this month following a mental health crisis at his Florida home.

WASHINGTON, Aug 4 (Reuters) - A top supervision examiner at the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau warned staff they would face "most unpleasant" consequences if they were too aggressive in their oversight of financial firms, according to an internal email reviewed by Reuters.
The threat, which Reuters is reporting for the ‌first time, was emailed on May 13 by Chief Examiner Fatima Batie to many of the agency's mid-level supervision staff as they were preparing to resume inspections of financial firms ‌following a long hiatus, according to the email and two people familiar with the matter.
Critics say the message amounts to a threat to CFPB staff that would likely make them think twice about how they interact with companies they oversee.

Mariner High School (Cape Coral, Fla.) has fired four football coaches and put two others on administrative leave as it investigates events that occurred during a recent lock-in at the school.

Four other ***** istant coaches who were not school district employees were fired.
While it's unclear what exactly happened during the team-building event, principal Tom Michel confirmed that no hazing took place. However, students who violated the school's expectations will be held accountable for their actions, as stated in the letter.
"While student privacy laws prevent us from disclosing specific names or consequences, please be ***** ured that no hazing took place and every individual involved is being held fully accountable," the letter read.
The news comes just one week before the Tritons kickoff the 2026-27 season. Mariner fell 3-7 last season under Jones, who spent just one season at the helm. Jones previously coached two seasons at Island Coast.

Barcelona's midfield situation has changed considerably over the last few weeks. Frenkie de Jong's injury has left Hansi Flick with fewer reliable options in the double pivot, while Marc Bernal is still returning from a lengthy layoff and cannot immediately be expected to carry a full workload.
Pedri remains an automatic starter and Gavi has proven that he can play alongside him, but the depth behind them suddenly looks far less secure than it did at the beginning of the summer.
There have also been rumours that Flick had already begun losing some trust in Frenkie towards the end of last season. The Dutchman reportedly did not manage his previous injury particularly well and continued playing during a World Cup year despite not being fully fit.
That was said to have frustrated Flick, who began trusting Gavi more during the closing stages of the campaign. Frenkie has still travelled with the team for pre-season, although some have interpreted that as Flick wanting him to recover under the club's supervision and, in a way, holding him accountable for how the situation was handled.
With Barcelona still expected to complete more business before the transfer window closes, another midfielder may now have become a genuine necessity rather than a luxury.

INDIANAPOLIS — Ex-Indiana Pacers point guard Ty Lawson, who came to the team in 2016 with court-ordered supervision for multiple drunk driving charges, was arrested again last week — this time for stealing a $34 bottle of **** o's vodka from a liquor store in Colorado, court records allege.
During the arrest July 16 in Douglas County, Col., while being booked into jail, Lawson allegedly verbally **** aulted police, screaming and repeatedly calling an officer (expletive) and “white (expletive),” according to the New York Post, which obtained the probable cause affidavit.
"At times, according to the report, he kicked his cell’s glass wall and yelled 'stop' over and over again," the Post reported. "He also allegedly spit on the floor."
Court records say Lawson eventually “calmed down” and apologized for his actions.
Lawson, 38, played almost his entire NBA career with the Denver Nuggets from 2009 to 2015. In July 2015, he was traded to the Houston Rockets.

Ismael Saibari is in a race against time to be fit for Morocco's World Cup quarter-final against France on Thursday.
The new Bayern Munich signing was forced off with a muscular problem in the first half of Morocco's 3-0 last-16 win over Canada.
According to reports, examinations have shown that the injury isn't serious, but it remains uncertain whether Saibari will recover in time to feature against France.
Saibari wasn't pictured in training on Tuesday as he continued his rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the medical staff.
If he's not deemed fit to play, Soufiane Rahimi is expected to start up front for Morocco after coming off the bench to score against Canada.

WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Reserve said on Wednesday that 32 of the nation's largest banks are well-positioned to weather a severe economic downturn and continue lending, as firms could absorb over $700 ‌billion in hypothetical losses and remain above minimum capital requirements.
The results of the central bank's annual "stress test" found large ‌banks' capital levels fell by 1.6 percentage points but remained above the minimum requirements, even after weathering a hypothetical global recession in which real estate prices drop by one-third, unemployment spikes to 10%, and financial markets are in turmoil.
"Today's results underscore the strength of the banking system," said Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman in a statement.
Several banks said after the stress-test results they were raising their dividends.

Serge Gnabry, who missed out on Germany's World Cup squad through injury, has taken another step on his road to recovery by completing an individual training session at club Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old suffered a torn adductor muscle in his right thigh in mid-April. On Tuesday, he did some running and mobility exercises, while even working with the ball under the supervision of rehabilitation coach Simon Martinello, the club said.
Bayern begin pre-season training in a month, the day after the World Cup final on July 19. Most World Cup participants will be given extra holiday and can join up with Bayern at a later date.
The German double winners visit South Korea and Hong Kong on their pre-season tour August 1-8 before returning to competitive action in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22.

Databricks is launching new tools to help companies cap AI costs, after finding customers had accidentally spent tens of millions of dollars on their broader AI bills in a single month.
Why it matters: AI agents are making corporate software bills harder to predict, and Databricks wants to be the layer companies use to keep them under control.
The big picture: The rise of AI agents that autonomously interact with models without much human supervision is increasing AI usage and forcing companies to blow budgets.
Traditional cloud cost tools often flag overspending only after the damage is done.
Databricks hopes its new tool helps firms pivot from token maxing to "value maxing," Patrick Wendell, Databricks co-founder, tells Axios.
