Power forward has become the position with the least depth in the NBA; although there are superstars at the top of this ranking, things get thin real quick, with various role players adorning this list, as well as a couple of rookies. That might have to do with the fact that the traditional power forward of yesteryear is now probably playing center, as the game has become so obsessed with ****** ing.
Regardless, as we mentioned, there are some top-tier players at the top of this ranking, so figuring out the top of this list wasn't the easiest ****** ignment.

Mike Vrabel used his weekly Monday appearance on The Greg Hill Show on Sportsradio 93.7 WEEI to work back through New England's 13-10 loss in Seattle, and the players he chose to talk about were three rookies who had never taken an NFL snap before Sept. 9: tight end Eli Raridon, edge rusher Gabe Jacas and linebacker Namdi Obiazor.
Raridon, the third-round pick out of Notre Dame, caught a two-yard touchdown from Drake Maye that produced the first points of the 2026 NFL season. He played 38 offensive snaps, 54 percent of New England's total, working as the second tight end behind Hunter Henry.
Jacas, taken 55th overall out of Illinois after the Patriots sent three picks to the Los Angeles Chargers to move up, came off a double team for his first career sack and later added a tackle for loss.
Obiazor, a sixth-round pick from TCU, opened the game with a hit on the kickoff and played 20 special teams snaps without seeing a defensive one.

Rookies from across the NFL made their debuts in Week 1 of the regular season. One Houston Texans legend, made his debut in a very different lead role.
J.J. Watt, who finished No. 1 in Chron's Top 25 Texans Ranking and current CBS Sports ******* yst, took the No. 1 color commentator role alongside CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz for Sunday's tilt between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. Watt replaced Tony Romo, of Dallas Cowboys fame, in the top spot after the former quarterback went on indefinite leave following his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Wisconsin earlier this summer.
Nantz warmly welcomed Watt to the broadcast during the CBS pregame show "NFL Today," and studio host James Brown was collegial in acknowledging the new duo.
"Jim Nantz and J.J. Watt … that rolls right off your tongue," Brown said. "What do you have?"
Nantz, a legendary University of Houston alum, replied with his classic, "Hello, friend," and began pontificating about the Texans-Bills matchup before turning to his left towards Watt and stating he was excited about "being with this guy."

The Cleveland Browns are set to kick off their 2026 regular season Sunday afternoon when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road. The team announced on Friday that they would be starting two rookies on their offensive line, ruling out Teven Jenkins and announcing that third-round pick Austin Barber would get the start at right guard.
Cleveland is also calling up two players from its practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game, elevating linebacker Nathaniel Watson and cornerback D'Angelo Ross. ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi reports that both elevations are special teams-related, which makes sense, as both have clear skill sets to contribute in that area of the game.
It will be interesting to see who ends up on the inactive list after these elevations; we know at least one of them is already Tevin Jenkins. Todd Monken talked about having all three quarterbacks active to use a package for rookie Taylen Green, which will be something to watch as kickoff gets closer.

LAS VEGAS — When the Miami Dolphins open the 2026 season against the Las Vegas Raiders, nearly a quarter of their active roster will consist of rookies. The Dolphins have 13 of them, most in the NFL, all with a story to tell on the road to realize their dreams.
For fullback DJ Herman, his reality exceeds anything he could have dreamed.
"I'm even more stoked than probably some of these other rookies because I'm going back to my hometown, where it all started, in Las Vegas," Herman said.
Herman figures "all the stars aligned" for his big day to be wrapped in a family reunion and personal cheering section about 50 strong.

NBA rookies can sign contracts worth millions before they receive their first regular paycheck. The number on a rookie deal may grab attention, but the timing of those payments works very differently from what many fans **** ume.
Draymond Green recently explained how NBA players receive their salaries and why rookies can face a long wait before their first check. The system also allows players to negotiate how some of that money reaches them.
Green said NBA players are normally paid twice each month, but rookies enter the league under a different timeline. Their contracts can include an advance before the regular salary schedule begins, which gives new players some access to their earnings during that gap.

When the Miami Dolphins take the field on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, a trio of first-year players have the potential to collectively make NFL history. Three of Miami's 13 selections from the 2026 NFL Draft were wide receivers Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman Jr.
Douglas was Miami's first receiver taken during this past April's draft when the Dolphins used pick No. 75 on the Texas Tech product. Bell from Louisville was selected with pick No. 94, and Coleman Jr. with pick No. 177 out of Missouri.
While a rare occurrence in any team class, there have been several instances where three receivers were selected by one team in a single draft. In fact, the Dolphins last tripled up at the position in 1975 with Freddie Solomon, Morris Owens and Leonard Isabell.
What has never happened before in league history is three drafted receivers each recording a reception during Week 1 of their rookie season. Douglas, Bell and Coleman could be that lone trio come Sunday. There have been a few close hits, but in the dozen or so cases, Miami's young trio could break the ice.
For Miami in 1975, none of these three recorded a catch back in Week 1 when they lost to the Oakland Raiders. Back in 2014, the Jacksonville Jaguars had three wideouts haul in a catch during Week 1 as rookies, but only two were actual draft selections.

It was a day of remembrance, but a night Nolan McLean might want to forget.
McLean's curveball spins at a higher rate than any other in baseball, but Friday night at Yankee Stadium, Cody Bellinger spun one over the short porch in right field into the stands. The three-run homer sank the Mets in a 6-4 loss to the Yankees.
It was the first time in more than a month McLean failed to go more than five innings, and only the second time in his last 14 outings. McLean was charged with five earned runs on a career-worst 10 hits over five innings in his ninth loss of the season (11-9). An NL Rookie of the Year candidate, McLean has looked like a seasoned veteran at times this season. But even the most dominant rookie starting pitchers have outings like the one McLean had against the Yankees.
Rookies slump, sputter and get knocked down, then figure out how to get up again.
No one knows this better than Bellinger, the 2017 NL Rookie of the Year. While his hitless stretches were few and far between with the Dodgers in 2017, there were bad strikeouts and bad games. Individually, they did little to put a dent in his candidacy. The overall body of work was too impressive. The same goes for McLean, who has carried a sub-3.00 ERA for most of the season and has quietly put up some of the best starting pitching numbers in the National League since June.

For those who work in the NHL, rookie camp is among the most exciting parts of the summer.
It's not that people particularly look forward to sitting in cold rinks, watching a bunch of 20-something-year-old NHL hopefuls practice. It's not that they're keen on watching said rookies play other teams' young guns on a glorified LiveBarn feed.
It's that it marks the beginning of the new season. In other words, rookie camp marks the end of the summer — and the beginning of the grind.
Immediately after it ends, training camp begins. Soon, teams are playing preseason games, after which the regular-season grind begins. If your team is lucky, there's playoff hockey after that. There's hardly a moment to rest, and that's exactly how they like it.
But rookie camp is different this year.

Both the Steelers and the Falcons have new coaching staffs heading into Week 1. It's safe to say both franchises will be looking to start their new era off on the right foot with a victory. I spoke with Kevin Knight of The Falcoholic to learn a bit about what's new with the Atlanta Falcons.
Kevin Knight: Well, now even Tua Tagovailoa is out of the lineup thanks to an oblique injury suffered during individual drills on Thursday. That means Cooper Rush at the helm (who, in truth, may not be any worse than Tua based on the aforementioned preseason). What you're going to see is a lot of quick game, and as much Bijan Robinson as the team can muster. If Atlanta can run the ball well and get Bijan going, they can score points. So that'll be the plan, with the passing game largely taking a complementary role until Michael Penix Jr. returns.
Kevin Knight: This is a good defense that will have to find ways to manufacture pass rush. Thankfully, Jeff Ulbrich is an evil genius with his blitz packages, and he's got a lot of interesting looks planned. Expect to see a lot of linebacker and slot blitzes to supplement their weaker edge rusher room, along with a lot of emphasis on interior pass rush. Atlanta has a really nice interior duo with Brandon Dorlus (who was leading all interior defensive linemen in the NFC with 8.5 sacks last season before injury) and trade acquisition Gervon Dexter Sr. They're hoping the interior can offset some of their weaknesses outside.
Kevin Knight: I like Kevin Stefanski and think it pretty much takes a miracle worker to extract any amount of success from the Cleveland Browns organization. It does seem like there's a coherent, forward-thinking plan in place for this Falcons team for the first time in years. I don't necessarily expect a lot of success in 2026 based on the moves made to this point and the way the team is structured, but I do expect Atlanta to be one of the most aggressive teams in free agency and the draft in 2027.
Kevin Knight: As I mentioned before, Brandon Dorlus is a borderline-elite interior pass rusher who may also get some run on the edge. Linebacker Divine Deablo was the biggest surprise in last year's free agent class and completely transformed the defense when he was on the field. Second-year safety Xavier Watts was a DROY candidate in 2025 and forms a dynamic duo with veteran Jessie Bates III. Atlanta will be starting two rookies on defense: Avieon Terrell (brother of A.J. Terrell) in the slot, and Kendal Daniels at linebacker. Both impressed in training camp, with Daniels being a particularly pleasant surprise given his Day 3 selection.

With 2.5 weeks remaining in the regular season, those in the fantasy baseball playoffs should be focused on adding players with favorable schedules in the coming days. The list this week includes hitters to stream this weekend (Henry Bolte, Jeff McNeil, Colt Keith) as well as those who should be added by Monday (Ty France, Mickey Moniak, Cole Carrigg).
The same can be said on the pitching side, as those who need a weekend streamer can skip to the bottom of this article.
Ty France, 1B, Padres, 31%: France has been one of baseball's best hitters in the second half, batting .324 with a .937 OPS. Unfortunately, he remains on waivers in many leagues, as managers opt to chase an influx of exciting rookies rather than adding a boring veteran. But that should change over the weekend, as France and his teammates will open next week with four games at Coors Field against a Rockies pitching staff that ranks last in baseball with a 5.50 ERA. Managers in deeper formats could also consider Jake Cronenworth (6%), who has hit second in the lineup of late, or catcher Luis Campusano (1%), who is working as a DH often enough to keep him in the regular lineup.
Mickey Moniak, OF, Rockies, 26%: Moniak has some similarities to France, as a boring veteran who is having his productive season overshadowed by a constant stream of youngsters on the waiver wire. The 28-year-old has been terrific at home (.957 OPS) and against right-handers (.835 OPS) this season, which makes him a potential league-winner next week when the Rockies play seven games at their hitter-friendly home park, including five versus right-handed starters. Those who cannot add Moniak can consider his teammate, Cole Carrigg (15%).
Henry Bolte, OF, Athletics, 30%: Bolte is the fastest runner in baseball and has a bit of pop, which has made him the Athletics regular leadoff hitter and one of baseball's most explosive players. He is batting .320 since the beginning of August, and during September he has already accumulated four homers and five steals. Like many Athletics hitters, Bolte has fared best at his offense-inducing home park, which is where he will play this weekend. It helps that the series will come against the Mariners, who surprising rank 28th in baseball with a 5.39 ERA since the All-Star break.

During the first 30 years of the Baltimore Ravens' story, they and the Indianapolis Colts have met 18 times. That includes three postseason matchups, but Sunday's opener carries a different feel. The Ravens are entering a new era under head coach Jesse Minter, while the Colts hope to prove they can contend in the AFC after last season's disappointing finish.
Most of the attention this week has focused on Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, Baltimore's revamped coaching staff, and what to expect on offense and defense. All of that will certainly influence the outcome, but several less-discussed storylines could play an equally important role. Here are five worth monitoring in Week 1.
Fair or unfair, Rashod Bateman enters the season under a microscope. The veteran receiver is attempting to move forward after a difficult 2025 campaign and an offseason that generated headlines for reasons unrelated to football.
A strong opener would immediately help shift the conversation back toward his on-field value. A quiet performance, however, could reignite many of the same questions that followed him throughout the offseason. One game should not define a season, but Week 1 often shapes perception. Bateman doesn't need a 100-yard performance to make an impact. He needs to remind everyone why the Ravens still believe in him.
Ja'Kobi Lane spent much of the summer generating excitement, while Vega Ioane appears poised to play a meaningful role immediately. They are not the only rookies worth watching. Pass rusher Zion Young could find himself in situations where a single splash play changes the trajectory of his debut.

Today is the day of the first on-ice activity for the Colorado Avalanche in the 2026-27 season. A group of 25 rookies are gathering at Family Sports Center at 9:00 a.m. for a one-day practice before they head off to San Jose, Calif. for the annual rookie tournament.
Late last week the roster was announced which features almost as many defensemen (8) as forwards (13). Those prospects playing in the NCAA or Europe this season are not listed and were not expected to attend rookie camp or Avalanche training camp. However, it is curious the class headliner, 43rd overall Egor Shilov is missing especially since he has chosen to spend one more year in the QMJHL with Victoriaville. But, there is a clue from those who cover the Canadian junior leagues that ongoing visa issues are to blame.

Before the first quarter ended, The Athletic's Matt Barrows reported that wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling was in the blue medical tent. Then, the team announced at the end of the quarter that the wideout is dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.

The Minnesota Vikings continue to be relatively healthy as Week 1 approaches. Jakobe Thomas, the team's third-round pick at safety, was the only player who didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness.
However, it appears Thomas has gotten past that. He was limited in Thursday's practice, as were fellow rookies Caleb Tiernan (ankle) and Jacob Thomas (ankle), the undrafted free-agent safety out of James Madison.
Green Bay's injury list was lengthier, with DL Warren Brinson and LB Ty'Ron Hopper listed as DNPs for the second straight day. Starters who were limited on Thursday included RT Zach Bako-Bewele (knee), LG Aaron Banks (knee), DL Devonte Wyatt (ankle), DL Javon Hargrave (knee), and EDGE Barryn Sorrell (foot).

It's time to put this Tennessee **** ans rookie class to the test.
Titans rookies played a combined total of 5,397 snaps in 2025. Only the Browns, Jets and Patriots devoted a higher percentage of their total snaps to rookies than the **** ans did. Sure, quarterback Cam Ward being on the field pretty much every offensive down for the entire season boosted that number. But the **** ans have been fairly insistent under GM Mike Borgonzi that the best way to get young players up to speed is to throw them into live action as soon as they're deemed ready.
With that in mind, let's take one last look through the **** ans' Class of 2026 rookies and project how much they'll be used as the **** ans prepare for the start the season on Sept. 13 against the New York Jets at Nissan Stadium (noon CT, CBS).

Week 1 of the 2026 regular season is here, and on the Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster are eight rookies.
While roles can change throughout the course of the season, let's project how each player could be utilized in the early going.
It remains to be seen whether or not Allen will technically be a starter, but even if he is not, he will likely see the field. The Colts could utilize a rotation at linebacker, at least early on in the season, and in that scenario, Allen seeing the field during early downs or more obvious running situations may make the most sense.
Haulcy could be a Day 1 starter, filling the strong safety role in the secondary. However, his Week 1 status remains up in the air at this time as he continues to work through an ankle injury. The Colts could also turn to Hunter Wohler to fill that role.
Farmer will be the Colts' first option off the bench at the guard position.

Who is the Washington Commanders' X-Factor for the 2026 NFL season? A common, correct answer is quarterback Jayden Daniels. After all, it was Daniels who put the Commanders on his back during his 2024 rookie season, leading the franchise to its best season in 33 years.
Then, injuries happened last year, costing Daniels 10 games. The Commanders struggled, going 5-12. Daniels' injuries can't be blamed for Washington's downfall, but they were the primary factor.
This summer, Daniels was 100% and had an outstanding training camp. And while there are concerns about the offensive line, there is excitement about Daniels in new coordinator David Blough's offense.
So, while Daniels is Washington's most important player, Ben Solak of ESPN did not name him his X-factor. Instead, Solak picked the X-factor for all 32 NFL teams, but did it a little bit differently. He did not name quarterbacks, coaches, or rookies in this exercise. Who did Solak choose as the Commanders' X-factor?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – There's a lot of talk regarding the New England Patriots' depth at the edge position.
After signing Dre'Mont Jones this offseason, it became clear throughout the summer that Elijah Ponder would be playing opposite him. But behind them are two rookies: Gabe Jacas and Quintayvious Hutchins.
However, while the public might be concerned, the feeling inside the room is nothing but confidence and determination.
"I have a lot of confidence. We got a lot of young, talented players that are ready to compete and ready to show themselves, and you got to appreciate that," Jones told Patriots Wire in a one-on-one conversation on Thursday. "We want to see how the season goes, obviously, but I think there's a lot of confidence and a lot to be positive about moving forward."
They've heard a bit of the noise, but are ready to prove everyone wrong.

The Baltimore Ravens announced the signing of offensive tackle A.J. Arcuri and tight end Nick Vannett to their practice squad on Tuesday.
Arcuri and Vannett completed the team's initial practice squad. However, veteran offensive lineman Chuma Edoga is expected to join the group after a successful workout on Wednesday, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Ravens will have to clear a spot on Thursday to formalize the move, either by releasing a player or placing on on injured reserve.
Vannett, 33, has played for nine teams in his career, including a 18-month stint with the Saints in 2021 and 2022 while now-Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle was serving as an offensive ****** istant on Sean Payton's staff. Doyle became the Broncos' tight end coach in 2023, so he likely worked closely with Vannett in New Orleans.
The familiarity between the two likely brought about this reunion in Baltimore, where the Ravens are short on experienced tight ends. Rookies Matt Hibner, Josh Cuevas, and Ty Pezza (practice squad) all flashed as pass-catchers in the preseason, but left plenty to be desired in the run game. Vannett brings a decade of experience as a blocker, though he only appeared in 10 games last year (four for the Vikings, six for the Rams) with 131 total snaps.
Arcuri, 29, was a Rams seventh-round pick in 2022 who appeared in eight games as a rookie and two in 2024. The Michigan State product has only played left tackle during the regular season with a Week 12 start against the Chiefs during his rookie year, but he has taken snaps at left guard and right tackle in the preseason, per Pro Football Focus. Arcuri's experience in McVay's system aligns with what the Ravens have been prioritizing along their offensive line this year.

After this year's draft, much of the conversation turned to what else the Colts needed. Unfortunately, it wasn't asking the question, "What player or positional improvement puts us in the Super Bowl conversation" but more along the lines of "If we don't get better at this position, how bad are we are going to suck?". Pierce being hurt saw the biggest area of concern shift from an Edge rusher, to a proven, dependable WR. Swing Tackle was a concern, as was a RB2. I was personally concerned with the inexperience at LB.
Training camp came and eased some of the RB concerns. McGowan was able to impress in practices and looked good in preseason games as well, while showing he could contribute on STs when called upon. Some didn't like the choice for #3 RB, but Giddens has also been in the building for two years and must have gained more confidence that Bentley. We saw some good play out of what will be depth or situational Edge play from our later rookies, even if we never got a glimpse of our starters on the outside. We may still be a pass rusher away from being the best that we can be.
One unforeseen weakness did appear during camp. We discovered that the loss of Pinter left us without a Center who could handle snapping the football. Many tried, but all looked bad in their efforts. It was glaring enough that we had to make a low level deal to bring in an experienced backup. Given that OL players seldom get through a season unscathed, I feel better about our backup Center, without the benefit of ever seeing him play a snap.
As camp ended, we did as hoped by bringing in an experience WR. Some of the shine came off of our new toy, when overserved, crossed paths with a bad choice, to result in an arrest. We may or may not lose Allen for a few games this year, but if it happens, it will likely be manipulated to minimize the loss. This leaves Swing Tackle as the last perceived deficiency to address. Tenuta was not as popular among the coaches as he was with fans, as he didn't make the 53 man roster and had to clear waivers to remain on the practice squad. It looks like we are more willing to move our Guards to Tackle, than to have a true Swing Tackle. We may have to call that position a weakness.

The Chiefs have nothing left to prove in the Andy Reid/Patrick Mahomes era. One could certainly pick apart the roster decisions of the past few years as being the reason the team stopped short of becoming a perennially dominant Pats-esque dynasty, but it's also unclear if that kind of lofty success is possible for any team in a modern NFL landscape where rookies are more pro-ready than ever before, and swelling salaries have made it very difficult to keep multi-superstar teams together.

A lot of this begins not with Patrick Mahomes, but Travis Kelce. A Hall of Fame lock, Kelce has achieved everything he could ever need to in the sport. Now there's undoubtably a personal aspect weighing on his future decision, with Kelce needing to decide whether or not he wants to suit up again after the 2026 season, or if he wants to take a step back and enjoy life with his wife. Kelce married Taylor Swift this past summer, maybe you heard about it? Not a lot of people really paid attention.
From a football perspective, Kelce can still go, but it's clear from watching him that the game is just more difficult for him now. There is a rising star to watch out for at the upcoming Presidents Cup.
Jackson Koivun will be a part of the United States team for the tournament, which runs Sept. 22-27 at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. The 21-year-old is one of three rookies, and captain Brandt Snedeker's last of his six picks, of the 12-man team that was revealed on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Koivun, who only has five PGA Tour starts, broke records in his time at college and got his first professional win this summer.
According to the ****** ociated Press, Koivun is making history as the first golfer to start a year without a PGA Tour card and play in the Presidents Cup since Jordan Spieth did so in 2013.
"I'm just happy he took a chance on me," Koivun said, per the news outlet. "I'm going to give it my all."
"You have to have a feeling. For some reason, I just had a gut feeling," Snedeker commented. "We'll see how that turns out. But I have full confidence he's ready for the challenge."

Riley Greene returns to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, September 1, as one of the club's call-ups after the rosters expand. The three-time All-Star has been on the IL for almost three weeks with a hamstring injury, and the Tigers have been struggling mightily in his absence. The team went 4-14 in the 18 games since the injury, and have gone from fringe contenders in the playoff hunt to non-factors in the Wild Card race. Although the bullpen has continued its season-long struggle during this time, the team's offense has really struggled. Here is how he can help his team as Riley Greene returns from the IL.
The Tigers are currently in fourth place in the AL Central and are just one win up from the Kansas City Royals, who have dwelt in the basement all season long. They sit six whole games back from the last Wild Card spot as Riley Greene returns, and are really struggling at the plate. Although Dillon Dingler has been one of the best catchers in baseball, he hit a severe slump right around the time that Greene hit the IL. Others like Spencer Torkelson have found it tough to get their game going all season long. Meanwhile, injuries have also been a factor as Kerry Carpenter and as mentioned Greene have found themselves hitting the IL in recent weeks.
Although he hasn't hit the same heights as the last two seasons, Riley Greene remains one of the Tigers' most productive bats. Through 177 games in 2026, he's slugged 16 home runs and driven in 54 runners, with an OPS of .816, making him the team's most dangerous hitter this season. Rookies Kevin McGonigle and Max Clark have made waves in recent weeks, but the team can't rely on their young players to deliver when it really matters, that's when veterans need to step up to the plate, literally.

McGonigle continues to make a great case for AL Rookie of the Year honors, and Clark who has collected 23 hits in his first 28 games in the big leagues. They will get a boost as Riley Greene returns to lengthen this lineup and give protection to the two of them, as well as the struggling Dingler and Torkelson. Knowing that Greene is in the lineup is going to make pitchers want to challenge these other batters a bit more than they have, so the other starters should see more fastballs in the zone. Fans will worry whether or not it is too late for 2026.

Brandt Snedeker wasn't afraid to think outside the box.
The U.S. Presidents Cup captain selected former college phenom Jackson Koivun, who won the PGA Tour's 3M Open in just his third start as a professional. Koivun will be joined by a trio of U.S. team stalwarts in Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, as well as Chris Gotterup, who was narrowly on the wrong side of the cutoff for the six automatic selections. Gotterup is one of three rookies added to the team Tuesday, along with Koivun and Jacob Bridgeman.

On paper, it looked like a big advantage that the Atlanta Braves got to play the makeup game for a June 18 rainout at the end of August. The San Francisco Giants would have to wait 10 weeks, fly across the country ahead of a six-game road trip, and trade away six veterans in the interim before facing a division-leading team on a seven-game win streak.
But waiting meant the Braves had to face a trio of rookies that weren't on the roster three weeks ago. Monday night, Sluggin' Jonah **** , Nate "The Great" Furman, and Turner "King Of The" Hill rained on the Braves parade with three runs, five fits, and four RBIs in a 7-3 win. Their sad fans were Tomahawk-chopping their umbrellas as they walk out of the stadium in despair.
This means that, perhaps unofficially, the Giants have finally swept a series in 2026. And it only took them until the last day of August! Their rainy visit to Hotlanta Wetlanta in June saw one game cancelled and another postponed after a two-hour rain delay, but the Giants won both halves of an improvised doubleheader on the one day with ded=cent weather. This means the Giants technically have swept a series this season, won a series on the road in the process and are currently on a three-series unbeaten streak.
Former Brave Anthony Molina (2-0), acquired in the deadline deal for Tyler Mahle, won his second game in seven days by giving up three runs in five innings in his first start of the season and the third of his career. He struck out five straight Braves between the 3rd and 4th innings and escaped the 5th after giving up four hits but only one run, and leaving with the game tied 3-3.
The Giants broke things open in the top of the 6th thanks to Osleivis Basabe and a trio of rookies. Basabe led off the inning with his 4th home run of the season, bouncing it off the top of the center field wall just above the Papa John's sign, which should probably earn him some free terrible pizza, right?

Luke Keaschall was a much-needed spark plug, Walker Jenkins doinked his first MLB homer off the right field pole, Jeffers added two bombs of his own, his first since the last day of July, and Taj Bradley delivered one of his best starts of the season when the Twins most needed it. It was a fun night at the ballpark when the Twins really needed a win!
Let's start on the offensive side. Facing Jackson Jobe, the former top pitching prospect in all of baseball, the Twins struck in the first inning, as they are wont to do of late, with a leadoff double from Keaschall eventually coming around on Kody Clemens sac fly. And then things went eerily quiet for Minnesota's hitters, also as they are wont to do of late.
They had chances to add on before the game exploded, but still didn't hit well with runners in scoring position despite the big number on the scoreboard. They went 2-9 with RISP against actual pitchers, with an added hit off of position player Zach McKinstry in the eighth to juice the stats. A leadoff double from Kaelen Culpepper in the third gave them a good run scoring opportunity, but a Jenkins pop out and Brooks Lee GIDP after a Keaschall single kept the game at 1-0 after three innings.
Clemens came back around and added a run on his own in the fourth inning, a no-doubt solo shot over the dock in right field to put the Twins up 2-0. They had another great opportunity to add on that inning with the bases loaded and just one out, but the rookies Culpepper and Jenkins both popped out to end the threat.
Then came the fifth inning when things finally broke open. Keaschall reached first base on an error by the Tigers' third baseman. Hao-Yu Lee couldn't get the grip on a soft grounder hit his way, trying to get it quickly to nab a hustling Keaschall. Keaschall then stole second easily off one of the best defensive catchers in baseball, Dillon Dingler. Keaschall had third easily in the same at-bat as well, but Clemens fouled off a pitch to send Luke back to second. Clemens eventually walked before Ryan Jeffers hit a three run blast to give the Twins their first comfortable lead of the night.

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their initial 53-man roster for the 2026 season, providing the clearest look yet at the team Patrick Mahomes will lead into the regular season.
Kansas City completed its roster cuts Sunday after spending the offseason evaluating a 90-man group that included established veterans, draft picks, undrafted rookies and several offseason additions.
The initial roster includes three quarterbacks, three running backs, six wide receivers, four tight ends and 10 offensive linemen. Defensively, Kansas City kept eight defensive linemen, five linebackers and 11 defensive backs, along with three specialists.
The Chiefs also placed wide receiver Jimmy Holiday on injured reserve and defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott on the physically unable to perform list.
Changes can still come through waiver claims and additional moves, something general manager Brett Veach made clear before the deadline when he described Kansas City's roster as not yet a "finished product."
