Jean Silva may have started slow but his aggression finally came through as he dropped Jose Miguel Delgado and finished with a one-arm rear-naked choke in the Noche UFC main event.
At the start of the fight, Silva just put his fists out and circled the octagon but once he got moving, he was hurting Delgado with a variety of strikes. Finally in the third round, Silva put Delgado against the cage and unloaded a huge shot that dropped his opponent to the canvas.

The High Line has hosted forests, billboards, giant pigeons and enough public art to fill a small museum. Its newest resident, however, may be the flashiest yet: a monumental golden "snake" curling through the park in the Meatpacking District.
Bulgari has unveiled auruBOROS—Urban Memory and Collective Dream, a 33-foot pneumatic sculpture created by Berlin-based art and architecture duo Plastique Fantastique. The free installation is now open above Little West 12th Street, near The Standard, High Line, and will remain on view through September 20.
The work resembles a gleaming serpent or double helix, with massive coils rising from beneath the elevated park and wrapping around its concrete supports. Visitors can walk among and through the reflective forms, which shift in appearance as sunlight, shadows and passing New Yorkers bounce off the metallic surface.
The sculpture's name combines aurum, the Latin word for gold, with ouroboros, the ancient image of a serpent eating its own tail. Its location also fits the installation's themes of memory and transformation: the High Line, after all, turned an abandoned freight railway into one of the city's most popular public **** es.
Created by Plastique Fantastique artists Marco Canevacci and Yena Young, auruBOROS is Bulgari's first public art installation in the United States. The duo is known for large-scale inflatable environments, including a giant ring that encircled a Paris footbridge during Nuit Blanche in 2023 and an immersive installation at the 2019 Venice Biennale.

For nearly two minutes, one of the pilots of the Amazon cargo plane that careened off a Miami runway and killed five people repeatedly warned his counterpart they were going too fast as they approached for landing and after touchdown, according to flight information released Wednesday.
A summary of ******* pit voice recordings compiled by the National Transportation Safety Board said the fellow pilot never gave "a consistent verbal response" to the warnings. The plane touched down awkwardly, briefly attempted to take off and then smashed into a van carrying the five victims.
The Amazon plane came in fast on Sunday afternoon and then barreled roughly 1,300 feet (396 meters) past the end of the runway and smashed into a van carrying workers at a plane cleaning company before hitting a compact SUV as it slid across a public road before catching fire.
All five people who died were in the van. Five others were hurt, including two who remained in critical condition on Tuesday. The two pilots survived and were interviewed Wednesday by investigators.
At the point when the pilot first called out the plane was speeding, former FAA official Mike O'Donnell said the crew could have done a number of things to slow it down, including extending the spoilers, cutting the throttles and lowering the landing gear. Or the pilots could have just aborted the landing at that point and circled to try again.

Well, that is quite the vote of confidence from the oddsmakers.
The Tennessee Volunteers have had a Week 2 road date at Georgia Tech circled for quite a while on the calendar. The Vols' biggest non-conference game, it's one that could be a true swing game to the season for the Big Orange. It's one that some have circled as interesting and a true potential challenge for Josh Heupel.
But Vegas made a pretty strong statement about the game after the Week 1 results unfolded for both teams. Tennessee opens as a 13.5-point road favorite against the Yellow Jackets.
That's a very big number, and higher than I thought it would be.
I have to wonder how much of that came from the Yellow Jackets' late-game blunder on Thursday against Colorado. Tech led 10-7 and had the ball deep inside Colorado territory first-and-10 with two minutes left. They lost 14-13 on a blocked field goal at the gun in a truly insane final two minutes of the game. But they led for the vast majority of the game and really gave that game away.

TD's aim to open 100 U.S. branches by 2028 is "a today strategy," not simply a revival of branch expansion plans shared in 2023, U.S. executive Allison Robinson said Wednesday.
The Canadian bank said last week it intends to open 100 branches in the U.S. by the end of 2028, as it purses organic growth. The lender also plans to hire more retail and commercial bankers, U.S. CEO Leo Salom said during the bank's fiscal third-quarter earnings call Aug. 27.
In May 2023, Toronto-based TD shared plans to open 150 U.S. branches by 2027, with a focus on the Southeast – just a few weeks after its proposed $13.4 billion acquisition of Memphis, Tennessee-based First Horizon was terminated. At the time, TD circled south Florida, Atlanta and North Carolina as targeted areas for branch expansion.
But as the bank tackled anti-money laundering issues and was hit with a related $3.09 billion penalty and $434 billion ******* et cap on U.S. retail operations, those branch opening plans slowed "dramatically," then-CEO Bharat Masrani acknowledged in 2024. TD has also closed about 91 branches over the past two years, Salom said last week.

ESPN'S Jeff Passan made a humorous reference on social media Sept. 2, quoting a Milwaukee Brewers post that showed Christian Yelich's go-ahead home run in his team's 9-4 win over the Cubs one night earlier.
"Can I ask, by the way, how people in Chicago felt about their home game turning into a road game?" Passan wrote. "That can't happen."
Indeed, Brewers fans were pretty loud as Yelich circled the bases in the top of the sixth, though Passan's sentiment has some added history.

In the season opener last fall, the Miami Hurricanes knocked off Notre Dame 27-24, in a highly contested battle.
It was a victory that propelled Miami all the way to the College Football Playoff **** le game, where they ultimately fell to Indiana. The Hurricane offense lost elite offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, quarterback Carson Beck, offensive linemen Markel Bell and Anez Cooper along with wide receiver CJ Daniels to the NFL draft. That's a good amount of talent gone from a pretty solid offense, but there are some that believe Miami will be better this fall.
Recently, 247Sports Brad Crawford was asked about the Hurricanes offensive outlook for this season and he thinks it will be the best offense they've had under head coach Mario Cristobal. He'd go on to say "I think this is the best transfer quarterback Miami has gotten … Darian Mensah, I think he should be the preseason Heisman frontrunner."
Crawford is high on the running backs and wide receivers, but one area where he's a bit concerned is on offensive line. "Maybe if there's one question Miami has … that would be it," as he noted the addition of 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
This game has been circled on Notre Dame's schedule since the heartbreaking loss last year, and revenge would be sweet. The Irish defense should be one of the best in the country, and should be able to neutralize the Hurricane attack.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen did not hold back his excitement this past week about a potential opportunity that came across his desk.. or locker room stall.
The Bills rounded up their preseason with a 28-27 comeback win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. It was known Allen would not play like many other starters. But if given the opportunity, Allen really wanted to call plays.
"I'd like to think I'm a pretty balanced play caller," Allen said. "Explosive play caller."
There were some fireworks as quarterback Shane Buechele circled the wagons with some help from rookie receiver Skyler Bell & Co. Was that Allen's doing as the play caller?
Buffalo head coach Joe Brady joked at his post-game press conference that Allen was the one calling the shots throughout the entire fourth quarter... but alas, it truly was a joke. Allen did not get a chance to call plays in the end.

The second week of the 10th season of Dana White's Contender Series kicked off on Tuesday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The fight card featured five fights with 10 athletes competing for a spot on the UFC roster.
The fight card was headlined by a women's bantamweight but between Bella Mir, the daughter of former multiple time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, and Alex Apodaca.
The two met in the middle of the cage and Mir connected with a left hand. They exchanged. Mir circled on the outside while Apodaca inched forward. Mir caught a kick and worked to get the fight to the ground but Apodaca remained standing. Mir stepped in the pocket with a combination. They clinched and worked along the cage. Apodaca began mixing in front kicks to the body. Late in the round, Mir secured a takedown and took Apodaca's back. Apodaca reversed the position and landed punches at the bell. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Apodaca.
They touched gloves to start the second and Apodaca pressed forward. Mir quickly looked for a takedown but Apodaca stuffed the attempt. Apodaca connected and Mir responded with a combination. After an exchange of right hands, Apodaca went back to utilizing front kicks. By the end off the round, Mir was bleeding from her nose. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Apodaca.
Mir attempted a takedown early in the final frame and Apodaca sprawled and successfully defended it. She got to her feet and Mir worked to get the fight to the ground. In a scramble, Mir took Apodaca's back with two minutes remaining on the clock. Apodaca protected her neck and the fight ended with Mir isolating a leg.

Last time the Indiana Fever met the Chicago Sky on the court, Chicago guard DiJonai Carrington was ejected from the game after a hard foul on Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. While she had the rematch against the Fever circled on her calendar, she ultimately fell flat in that game, and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was there to enjoy it.
After the Sky fell in a blowout to the Fever on Sunday night in a game where Carrington had minimal impact, Portnoy took to social media to mock the Chicago guard for "making a fool out of herself."
After the Aug. 8 game in which Carrington was ejected, the Sky guard circled the rematch with the Fever on her calendar.
"8/23," she wrote in a post on X, adding a smiley face emoji.

One of the biggest days in Cleveland Browns training camp, one that has been circled since it was announced, has come and gone. The Browns hosted the Buffalo Bills in Berea, Ohio, for a one-day joint practice ahead of the second preseason game of the year for both teams on Saturday.
An injury concern for DE Alex Wright puts a damper on the day, but Cleveland HC Todd Monken was fired up for what he saw and got to experience from the matchup between the Great Lakes teams.
The joint practice was a big deal for the Browns, hosting a Super Bowl-contending team with an elite quarterback in Josh Allen. The defense didn't have the best of days, but seeming to belong on the field with the Bills is a big deal, not "banner-hanging" worthy, but a sign of a quality roster in Cleveland.

Ridi arrived in Qusra late on Monday after traveling from ‌the U.S., fearing he could lose the property to Jewish settlers who have encircled three Palestinian homes in the village for more than a week, prompting U.S. condemnation.
Ridi, who grew up in the village in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, was taking a morning walk among his cherry and fig trees on Tuesday when a settler approached from the hill above, in an encounter filmed by Reuters, the only media outlet present.

Tracy Spiridakos recalls her "body flaws" being circled with Sharpie at a modeling agency meeting as a 17 year old.

The stock market's first week after the Big Tech earnings extravaganza went about as well as any investor could have hoped. The initial mixed bag of earnings gave way to general bullishness as AI's spending worries receded somewhat.
And with Friday's jobs report surprise, Fed rate bets were recalculated, sending stocks to the weekend on a high note.

Wednesday's Consumer Price Index release is circled on the calendar, with economists expecting it to rise 0.2% — both the overall and core figures (no energy, no food). Thursday will see the wholesale version, with the Producer Price Index expected to also rise faster than last month. The week's economic data will close with a reading on retail sales and U. Mich.'s consumer survey data on Friday.

In 31 seasons as an NBA head coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors (twice), New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks, Nelson finished with a regular season record of 1,335-1,063. He retired with the most coaching wins ever, a mark that was broken by the San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich in March 2022.
Nelson made 18 playoff appearances as a coach, finishing with a 75-91 postseason record.

Nelson was a two-time All-American with the Hawkeyes.
After being selected 17th overall in the 1962 NBA Draft by the Chicago Zephyrs, Nelson caught on with the Boston Celtics. Nelson signed with the Celtics ahead of the 1964-65 season and would go on to win five NBA championships with Boston (1966, 1968, 1969, 1974 and 1976).
Nelson averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while winning those five ****** les during his 11 seasons in Boston.

Diyar Nurgozhay finally lived up to his hype earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 8, 2026) at UFC Vegas 120 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside the revamped Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the light heavyweight prospect laid waste to Bruno Lopes via TKO with one second left in the first round.
Fight fans probably didn't have this matchup circled on their event card, but it had all the ingredients to deliver instant fireworks. That's because both guys are strikers and have a history outside of UFC for finishing their opponents. It was up to both light heavyweights to finally rise to a UFC level to earn their stripes and leave "Sin City" victorious.
While Lopes tried his heart out it was Nurgozhay who delivered the goods. With about 30 seconds left in the first round Nurgozhay uncorked a left hand that connected on Lopes' temple and left him on skates. Nurgozhay eventually tracked him down along the cage and landed a nasty uppercut followed by a punch to the body and left hook upstairs to earn the stoppage. There was one second left on the clock when the referee waved the fight off.

After a year of underperforming the S&P 500, Microsoft (MSFT) stock has been climbing again, powered by an AI narrative that seems unstoppable. But on its latest earnings call, the real story was not the impressive growth, but the large spending required to generate it. The entire Q&A session circled one central question: with the company investing at a historic pace, is the return on that capital both real and defensible?
The justification for the spending spree starts with Azure's stunning growth. Azure's revenue grew 43% this quarter, a figure that prompted ***** ysts to probe the underlying drivers. Management's response was clear: the growth is real, and it is constrained by supply, not demand. The company stated that "Customer demand continues to exceed available capacity." In fact, the better-than-expected results were partly driven by engineering teams getting more out of the existing infrastructure and bringing new capacity online faster. Every efficiency gain, the CFO noted, was "quickly monetized" because the demand was already there waiting. This paints a picture of a company racing to build factories for a product that sells before it even hits the shelf.
If the demand is so strong, what is the risk? That was the core of the sharpest challenge of the call, a direct question about the danger of overbuilding and the pressure of rising component prices. The concern is that Microsoft is spending billions on a gold rush, and could be left with expensive, empty data centers if demand normalizes. Management's answer focused on flexibility. The New England Patriots circled back to the wire after the ninth practice of training camp.
The organization officially claimed wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon. In a corresponding 91-man roster move, tight end Jeremiah Franklin was placed on waivers.
Palmer, 26, entered the NFL in the sixth round of the 2024 draft at No. 191 overall. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound wide receiver by way of Snow College and UAB spent the majority of his initial two regular seasons on the Cardinals' practice squad. Ahead of Arizona's finale last January, Palmer was promoted to the 53-man roster. He saw four snaps on offense to go with two snaps on special teams in his debut and was waived on Monday.
Franklin, 22, had signed in Foxborough as an undrafted free agent leading up to training camp in July. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound tight end out of Boston College did so after participating in the Patriots' local pro day as well as rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. During his tenure in Chestnut Hill, Franklin appeared in 44 games, including 30 starts, on the way to catching 93 passes for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns.
The Patriots move further into August with 12 wide receivers on the active depth chart. And after losing veteran Julian Hill to injured reserve in June, the tight end room stands at six, including C.J. Dippre on the physically unable to perform list.

The St. Louis Cardinals (56-57) and New York Yankees (63-50) continue their three-game series tonight at Yankee Stadium.
Its been a challenge offensively for these teams for much of the season, but last night the bats were alive as the teams combined for 20 runs and 23 hits as the Cards rallied in the eighth inning to win 13-7. Alec Burleson put on a show all by himself with three home runs and six runs batted in but he was not the only player who went yard. Jimmy Crooks and Nathan Church also homered for St. Louis and the Yankees went deep five times. Recently acquired Luis Garcia Jr., Ryan McMahon, Trent Grisham, Jose Caballero, and Austin Wells circled the bases for the hometown Pinstripes. Buried behind all the offensive fireworks was a poor outing from Cam Schlittler who walked five and gave up four hits and four runs over just three innings.
With the loss New York dropped to 3.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East while the Cardinals kept pace in the NL Wild Card chase with the win.
St. Louis is expected to turn to right-hander Hunter Dobbins (2-1, 3.74 ERA). The 26-year-old has been inconsistent this season. Last Monday he allowed seven hits and four runs over 5.1 innings against the Cubs. The previous Wednesday, though, Dobbins threw six shutout innings against the Angels. The Yankees counter with Ryan Weathers (4-7, 3.99 ERA). The southpaw has been sharp his last two starts allowing just nine hits and one earned run over 12.2 innings.
After Monday's offensive explosion, the biggest question entering Game 2 is whether the sudden offense stays around or if either side's pitching regains control.

Ohio State football wide receiver Jeremiah Smith thinks Darrell K. Royal Stadium could get louder than Ohio Stadium.
In a CBS Sports Instagram post on July 30, Smith was handed a schedule and asked to circle the game he is most excited for in 2026. He quickly picked the Week 2 nonconference matchup against Texas, a rematch between the coach-quarterback duos of Ohio State's Ryan Day and Julian Sayin and Texas' Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning.
"I circled [the] Texas game because you hear a lot about their stadium and how loud it gets. And it's our first big away game, so I'm excited for it," said Smith
Smith was also asked if he believes Texas' stadium is louder than The Horseshoe.
"I think it might be louder, I'm not going to lie. ... It's going to be a crazy atmosphere, and it's at nighttime, so it's going to be rocking for sure," he added.

For the first time in a couple of summers, the Oklahoma City Thunder had to recast their complementary pieces. You can't keep the same roster forever. Especially in the NBA. This group experienced that for the first time this offseason as they said goodbye to Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins.
Getting underneath the dreadful second apron, the Thunder had to make three cost-cutting moves. Out go Dort, Joe and Wiggins. In come seven future second-round picks. Three of OKC's best recent developmental stories head out East. Dort and Wiggins went to the Atlanta Hawks and Joe to the Detroit Pistons.
Even with weighted hearts, don't think anybody was surprised to see the Thunder shake up their role players. When you read out their future team payrolls, think this summer was circled as one where changes were inevitable. And considering how the NBA playoffs ended, it was obvious that all three would likely get moved out as they were phased out of the rotation.
Chet Holmgren was the latest to give his reaction to OKC's cost-cutting summer. The All-NBA talent talked at a USA Basketball Foundation charity event in Southern California. He had a breakout season last year, but his no-show outing in the 2026 Western Conference Finals soured things for a lot of folks.
"It's like losing a family member. That's how the business of this game goes," Holmgren said. "No team, all 17 guys, sticks together forever. But it doesn't make it hurt less when you see guys go. At the same time, I'm excited for them and the opportunity they're going to have in Atlanta. I'm happy for whatever major milestones they reach over there."
