For nearly two minutes, one of the pilots of the Amazon cargo plane that careened off a Miami runway and killed five people repeatedly warned his counterpart they were going too fast as they approached for landing and after touchdown, according to flight information released Wednesday.
A summary of ******* pit voice recordings compiled by the National Transportation Safety Board said the fellow pilot never gave "a consistent verbal response" to the warnings. The plane touched down awkwardly, briefly attempted to take off and then smashed into a van carrying the five victims.
The Amazon plane came in fast on Sunday afternoon and then barreled roughly 1,300 feet (396 meters) past the end of the runway and smashed into a van carrying workers at a plane cleaning company before hitting a compact SUV as it slid across a public road before catching fire.
All five people who died were in the van. Five others were hurt, including two who remained in critical condition on Tuesday. The two pilots survived and were interviewed Wednesday by investigators.
At the point when the pilot first called out the plane was speeding, former FAA official Mike O'Donnell said the crew could have done a number of things to slow it down, including extending the spoilers, cutting the throttles and lowering the landing gear. Or the pilots could have just aborted the landing at that point and circled to try again.

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — A flight that was scheduled to carry Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Moldova to Norway earlier this week was delayed when authorities closed Moldova's airspace because of a drone incursion, a government spokesperson said.
Moldovan police said a Russian drone crashed on Tuesday in a sunflower field on the outskirts of a village in the district of Riscani, which caused four fires to break out but no injuries.
Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici said on Wednesday that Moldova had closed its airspace Tuesday afternoon to protect aircraft flying over the country at the time. The closure delayed three departures, including the flight carrying Zelenskyy.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre told broadcaster NRK that Zelenskyy's plane "was nearly hit by a drone as it took off from Moldova" on its way to Oslo for King Harald V's funeral. Zelenskyy arrived in Oslo on Tuesday and met Støre to discuss potential support for Ukraine's air defenses before attending the king's funeral on Wednesday.
Moldovan authorities confirmed the drone came down and exploded 160 kilometers (100 miles) from Chisinau International Airport. The airspace restrictions were lifted and Zelenskyy's plane took off later than scheduled.

For most 9-year olds, the sight of a parent picking them up a little more than an hour into the school day might be a welcome one. But 25 years ago, Dean Marlowe realized quickly that something was very wrong.
"I was in the middle of class, and my stepdad came and picked me up from class," Marlowe told Yahoo Sports by phone recently. "I was kind of confused because I was like, 'Hey, what's going on?' I had just gotten to school. And all I remember him saying is that something bad happened in New York City where me and your mom are working, and we have to go there immediately."
That was the morning of 9/11, and Marlowe was just starting to realize how life-changing that day would be.
Mike Neil, Marlowe's stepfather and a police sergeant with the 75th precinct, had worked a late shift the night before as a favor to a friend. Neil had been asleep only a few hours when another officer from the precinct called to summon him back to work. It wasn't until Neil turned on his TV, seeing the second plane hit the World Trade Center, before he understood why.
Neil called his wife, Lisa, a police officer in Harlem's 32nd precinct, who told him to pick up Dean and his older sister, who worked at a bank close to Marlowe's school. Neither parent was sure when they'd see their kids again, knowing that people were dying and the city they were tasked with protecting was being cloaked in fire, smoke and debris.

Prince Harry is allegedly looking for unusual new opportunities to revamp his public image. The sources reveal his team has been searching for adventurous and charity stunts to rebuild his image.
Prince Harry's reported change in public image strategy involves taking part in high-profile physical challenges for charitable causes.
According to Rob Shuter's Substack Naughty But Nice, sources said, "Harry needs action. Another stage, speech or interview isn't going to change the conversation. They want him jumping out of planes, climbing mountains and taking risks. The goal is simple: make Harry the Tom Cruise of princes."
The Duke of Sussex is reportedly set to participate in a charity skydive later in September.
A source added, "Put Harry in a jumpsuit, strap a parachute to him, and suddenly ***** ody is talking about family feuds or Netflix. They're watching a prince jump out of an airplane for charity. That's powerful imagery."

As global travel continues its post-pandemic ascent, investors are weighing the recovery of an aviation ******* an against a leaner engine specialist. Choosing between Boeing (NYSE:BA) and GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) requires careful scrutiny.
Boeing remains a global leader in commercial aircraft manufacturing and defense systems, while GE Aerospace has transformed into a focused aerospace power. Both companies benefit from rising demand for efficient travel, yet they offer vastly different financial health and risk profiles.
Boeing develops and services commercial airplanes, defense products, and ******* e systems for customers in over 150 countries. The company derives a significant portion of its revenue from the U.S. government, including the Department of Defense and NASA. Customer concentration like this adds a layer of risk to the business, particularly when specialized contracts are subject to shifting federal budget priorities.
In FY 2025, revenue reached nearly $89.5 billion, representing a significant 34.5% increase over the prior year. This growth helped the company report a net income of approximately $2.2 billion, which is a notable improvement from the net loss of roughly $11.8 billion in 2024. The turnaround suggests that production rates for major programs are beginning to stabilize after several years of operational disruptions.
As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio was 10.0x. This high figure indicates that total liabilities are ten times the value of shareholder equity. The current ratio, which indicates a company's ability to pay short-term obligations with short-term ******* ets, was nearly 1.2x. Free cash flow was negative $1.9 billion, and stock-based compensation represented roughly 40% of operating cash flow, which inflates reported cash generation since SBC is a non-cash expense added back in the cash flow statement.

Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings: Week 1 2026 appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The fantasy football expectations have soared for Brock Bowers. And many people think Colston Loveland will be a beast. But what kind of start will they have? Here are the fantasy football tight end rankings for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
A lot of the tight end value depends on how your league scores the position. If your league values tight ends on the same plane as wide receivers, these rankings matter more.
You absolutely cannot go wrong with Bowers in Week 1. He has a tremendous matchup against the Dolphins. And he should light things up with Kirk Cousins feeding him targets. Look at the defense rankings, and you see the Dolphins nestled at No. 23 this week. It's an open door for Bowers.

Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi feels José Mourinho wouldn't have subbed Rasmus Hojlund off, as Massimiliano Allegri did against Inter last weekend, but Federico Dimarco's absence will be 'significant' at the Bernabéu tonight.
Inter and Mourinho reunite at the Bernabéu tonight in the opening round of the 2026-27 Champions League, at the same venue where the Special One lifted the Champions League as the Nerazzurri coach in 2010.
Materazzi built a strong bond with Mourinho during the Portuguese's two-year spell at San Siro and recently met the Special One in Italy: "José took a plane specifically to record that footage, and he told me again: 'You and John Terry, the most important centre-backs of my career'," Materazzi told Gazzetta.
The former Italy defender, a 2006 Italy World Cup winner, is certainly not surprised that Real Madrid hired Mou last summer.
"No, because I know the relationship he has with Florentino, how much he trusts José," he said.

Genius, madman, salesman: Elon Musk is the subject of a nearly four-hour documentary at Venice that seeks to unmask the billionaire provocateur with outsized global influence in business, politics and even outer ****** e.
"Musk," premiering Tuesday at the Venice Film Festival, seeks to reframe the story of the world's richest man whose stated ambitions include colonising Mars, transitioning the planet to sustainable energy and protecting free speech, laying bare the "unreality of his narrative," Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney said.
"I wanted to understand what game he is playing," says director Gibney at the start of the film about the man long considered a rule-breaking genius whose erratic behaviour and shift to right-wing politics has alienated -- and confused -- many.
Gibney said Musk's story was "oddly familiar" to him, having treated other larger-than-life characters in past films, from the executives behind the Enron scandal to former Theranos boss Elizabeth Holmes.
"His story is the story of an old wine and a new bottle. His story turns out to be the story of the confidence man, the stock pumper," said Gibney, adding that much of what Musk says "has an air of unreality around it".

Over the past several years, Angel Reese has emerged as one of the most high-profile female athletes on the planet. With that, however, has come some unwanted attention when she posts certain photos on social media.
Reese has never been shy about sharing photos in bikinis or other forms of revealing clothing. And she made it pretty clear that she has no intention of apologizing for it.
In addition to sharing bikini photos on her own social channels, Reese has also appeared in the SI Swimsuit and has also partnered with Victoria's Secret on a number of occasions.
Back in 2023, when Reese was still with the LSU Tigers at the college level, Reese posed with SI Swimsuit for the first time.
"I had on thong bathing suits and I didn't think I was going to be comfortable, but [everyone] made me feel really comfortable," Reese said at the time. "I work out a lot. I embrace my body and who I am and every mark on my body. I probably feel the ******* iest in a bathing suit."

Luka Doncic is back in a position where he is the lone star of his team, and he has been fully focused on fulfilling his responsibilities as the leader.
The Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with LeBron James, who decided to become a free agent, ending his eight-year tenure with the historic franchise.
Left in Hollywood is Doncic, who will now be the team's main star—a role he embraced and carried out during his 6.5 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. The Slovenian is not wasting any time. He made it clear what type of teammates he wanted around him, and once the roster was ***** embled, he made sure to welcome each and every one of them.
One of the Lakers' biggest challenges this season is the fact that more than half of the roster is new. Doncic is addressing that by bringing his old and new teammates together for bonding activities and mini-camps.
The NBA training camp will not officially open until September 29, but the six-time All-Star has taken the initiative to get an early start with his team. He flew nearly all of his teammates to Slovenia and, according to reports, paid for their plane tickets.

Tom Holland and Zendaya are living like bona fide superstars, a source tells Star.
"As much as they like to jointly portray a down-to-earth image when they're promoting a film or interacting with fans, Tom and Zendaya are absolutely living large behind the scenes," reveals the source. "That means rolling with a large entourage including their close relatives and Zendaya's ever-present hair and make-up teams."
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the newlyweds are worth a combined $115 million, with Holland, 30, reportedly set to collect a bonus check for upwards of $80 million in the wake of Spider-Man: Brand New Day's $2 billion run at the box office, per The Wrap.
"They're [also] relying on private planes more and more," the source adds. "But thanks to their multiple blockbusters this year, the studios have been happy to pick up part of that bill."

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash after giving a ceremonial pen from a 9/11 remembrance ceremony to a top aide who once represented a convicted al Qaeda member whose brother-in-law hijacked the plane that struck the Pentagon.
Mamdani signed executive orders Friday ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, designating the date a citywide day of remembrance and service and strengthening efforts to prevent future terrorist threats.
After signing the final order, Mamdani handed the pen to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and asked her to pass it to chief counsel Ramzi Kassem. Kassem previously represented Ahmed al-Darbi, who pleaded guilty to war-crime charges tied to al Qaeda plots against commercial ships and was the brother-in-law of Khalid al-Mihdhar, one of the hijackers aboard American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon, killing 184.

A bitter legal fight between Aaliyah's uncle and her cousin has produced a stunning accusation: Barry Hankerson is blaming his own son Jomo for the 2001 plane crash that killed the R&B star.
The claim surfaces in lawsuit documents obtained by TMZ, which show Barry alleges Jomo was hired and compensated to coordinate travel for Aaliyah's "Rock the Boat" video shoot in the Bahamas. Barry contends Jomo "failed in his responsibility" to carry out that role, and states the crash "may have been avoided had [Jomo] followed through on his compensated task of travel coordination."
Barry also says his relationship with his son was never the same after Aaliyah's death.
Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001, when a small aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Marsh Harbour in the Abaco Islands, killing all nine people aboard. Investigators found the plane was overloaded, and pilot Luis Morales III had falsified FAA credentials, had traces of cocaine and alcohol in his system, and was not certified to fly the designated aircraft.

Drew Barrymore and her ex-husband Will Kopelman share two daughters, Olive (born 2012) and Frankie (born 2014).
While Barrymore and Kopelman share glimpses of their children's lives publicly, they are both intentional about keeping them out of the public eye as much as possible.
The two divorced in 2016.
When Drew Barrymore isn't busy as a talk show host, actress, and producer, she takes pride in raising her two daughters, Olive and Frankie, and giving them an upbringing very different from her own less-than-perfect childhood.

The report calls this group the "superbillionaires," and the share they command has moved sharply in a very short window.
The threshold for superbillionaire status is a personal fortune in excess of $50bn. That is a net worth cutoff, not income, and Altrata's figures reflect the estimated value of an individual's total **** et base as of the 2025 data year. On August 11, Kristina Ruggeri from Argus upgraded The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) from Hold to Buy, based on the company's long-term prospects within the expanding commercial aerospace segment. The ****** yst expects the company's impressive backlog, topline growth and margins to continue expanding after the management made progress in addressing concerns linked with production and profitability. Ruggeri's price target of $265 results in more than 26% upside potential as of August 28 closing. Let's explore the underlying business fundamentals that support this rating upgrade.
Recent financials clearly back the rating upgrade by Argus, as the company reported $24.6 billion in Q2 2026 revenue compared to $22.7 billion during Q2 2025. The 8% topline expansion primarily reflected 171 commercial deliveries during the quarter. Despite a core loss of ($0.76) per share, the company's cash flows turned positive amid improved working capital. In the second quarter, it posted $1.4 billion in operating cash flow and $631 million in free cash flow. Management reiterated its optimistic FCF projections, with a full-year guidance between $1 billion and $3 billion, depending partly on delivery volumes and timing of customer receipts.
The company's demand backlog further strengthens the bullish narrative, as it reported $715 billion in total backlog by the end of second quarter. This included a backlog of $597 billion for commercial airplanes segment, involving more than 6,200 aircraft. It is composed of thousands of orders for 737 MAX, along with elevated demand across its wide-body segment covering 767, 777, and 787 programs. Backlogs for Defense, ****** e & Security, and Global Services segments stood at $85 billion and $33 billion, respectively.
Company President and CEO, Kelly Ortberg, reflected on the remainder of the year, stating:
"While there is more work ahead in the second half of the year, the momentum we are building continues to move Boeing in the right direction."

BERLIN (AP) — Opponents will be looking up to China during the women's FIBA World Cup, starting with the the United States.
The Americans and everyone else will have to navigate around and over some of the tallest women on the planet: China's 19-year-old Zhang Ziyu stands 7-foot-3. The U.S. team is already familiar with 6-10 Han Xu from her WNBA games with the New York Liberty.
If not for a passport mishap, Zhang and Han would be joined by another center — 6-7 Li Yueru, who plays with the WNBA's Dallas Wings. Li posted on social media Wednesday that her passport was lost in the mail and she won't be able to compete.
China opens its campaign against the four-time defending champion in Berlin on Friday.
Zhang wasn't playing when the U.S. beat China 83-61 in the 2022 World Cup final in Sydney for a fourth consecutive gold medal. She made her senior debut at the Women's Asia Cup last year and helped China capture the bronze, averaging 14.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in the tournament.
