Wide receiver Xavier Legette wasn't the only Carolina Panthers pass catcher who made an early exit from practice on Tuesday.
Tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders also had his day ended before the final whistle of this morning's training camp session. Sanders, per head coach Dave Canales, is being evaluated for what appeared to be an ankle injury.
"Yeah, it looked like an ankle—and he wasn't able to finish," Canales told reporters afterwards. "But he had a great day. So we'll evaluate him and see where he's at."
Sanders is entering his third NFL campaign. His second season saw him amass 29 receptions for 190 yards and a touchdown—down from his 33 catches and 342 yards as a rookie in 2024.
His fellow 2024 draftee in Legette, fortunately, was cleared of a concussion following his departure from the workout. Legette, who was carted off during seven-on-seven drills, fell down hard on his head and back while attempting a catch in the back of the end zone.

Easily the worst part of NFL training camp has to be the injuries suffered at practice. Every year, a devastating injury happens to someone, somewhere in the league that sidelines them for several weeks, months or even an entire season. Now, former Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant is the latest victim to this annual stroke of bad luck.
Bryant, who signed with the Bears in free agency this offseason, had to be carted off the field from Chicago's practice on Monday. ESPN's Adam Schefter is now reporting Bryant suffered a litany of injuries to his left knee. According to Schefter, they include a hyperextended knee, bone bruise and a small fracture. Although no surgery is expected at this time, these injuries are going to cost Bryant a few games. As it stands, the timeline for recovery is an estimated 8-10 weeks.
Even if we are going with the most conservative, optimistic approach of only eight weeks to the day, the absolute earliest game he could possibly return for would be Week 3's primetime showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Even that feels like more than wishful thinking.

The 2026 Carolina Panthers may just be snakebitten. Any lingering question about that was answered emphatically on Wednesday morning, when the team suffered their third injury in just their fifth day of training camp.
Last week, it was second-year outside linebacker Nic Scourton who went down with a season-ending ACL tear, followed by tight end Mitchell Evans getting carted off with an ankle sprain on Tuesday. And yesterday, it was rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, who was wheeled away with a moderate LCL tear.
Scourton is the biggest loss in the bunch—for now, at least—and his absence represents a devastating blow to a defense that could have taken a big step forward this season. With their rising star out, Carolina's pass rush has been ranked 31st in the NFL by CBS Sports.

The New Orleans Saints saw one of their NFC South rivals significantly weakened on the defensive side on Thursday. Carolina Panthers edge rusher Nic Scourton suffered an ACL injury during practice with the team on Thursday and will miss the entire 2026 NFL season. This was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. The Athletic's Joseph Person observed Scourton being carted off during team drills at Panthers practice on Thursday. Trainers were focused on Scourton's right knee. Later in the day, it was determined that Scourton had suffered an ACL tear that will cost him his entire season.

Six years ago, Richard Hershey was distributing religious leaflets on a public sidewalk in a public park surrounding a public arena in Bossier City, Louisiana, when he was accosted by police officers who insisted that he stop. Hershey, who was promoting the views of the Christian Vegetarian ***** ociation outside a Christian rock concert at the Bossier City Arena, pointed out that he was exercising his constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and freedom of religion. He also noted that the officers had not interfered with another leafleteer, who was advertising a local radio station.
The cops were unmoved. If Hershey did not leave immediately, they said, he would be arrested, and he likewise would be carted off to jail if he ever dared return to the park.
It would be hard to imagine a more blatant violation of First Amendment rights. But last October, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit held that Hershey could not sue the officers responsible for it because they were protected by qualified immunity, a doctrine that bars federal civil rights claims unless they allege violations of "clearly established" law. Now Hershey is asking the Supreme Court to overrule that jaw-dropping conclusion, which illustrates how broad interpretations of qualified immunity prevent victims of outrageous police misconduct from vindicating their rights.
"The right to evangelize in public, free of viewpoint-based government suppression, is as clearly established as any right in the firmament," Hershey's lawyers, who include former Solicitor General Paul Clement and litigators at the First Liberty Institute, note in a Supreme Court petition filed last Friday. "It is squarely protected by two separate but overlapping clauses of the First Amendment—the Free Speech and Free Exercise Clauses—and by decisions of this Court underscoring that viewpoint discrimination is verboten and that discrimination against religious speech is viewpoint discrimination (im)pure and simple. No government official should need an on-point circuit precedent to illustrate what the Constitution itself and this Court's cases make clear beyond cavil."
Hershey filed his lawsuit under 42 USC 1983, which authorizes people to sue state or local officials for violating statutory or constitutional rights under color of law. That provision, which dates back to the Civil Rights Act of 1871, says nothing about qualified immunity. The Supreme Court invented that doctrine in the 1982 case Harlow v. Fitzgerald on the theory that officials should be liable under Section 1983 only when they had fair notice that their conduct was illegal or unconstitutional.

Despite a favorable result for Canada in Thursday's Group B match against Qatar, the team lost star Ismaël Koné to a brutal, unnecessary injury.
Koné was carted off the pitch in the second half of Thursday's match after sustaining a leg injury in a collision with a Qatar player. The 24-year-old is one of Canada's rising young stars and an injury of this magnitude certainly will have him missing the rest of the 2026 World Cup in a really unfortunate way.
After the game resumed nearly 10 minutes later, Nathan Saliba scored to make it 4-0 Canada and in his celebration, the Canadian grabbed Koné's jersey and held it up in tribute to his injured teammate.

The Miami Dolphins held their second mandatory minicamp session on Wednesday at their Baptist Health Training Complex, and during the practice, the team seemed to have some bad luck.
According to those in attendance, offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer left the field on a cart in the middle of the session.
