The one thing every teams hopes more than anything to come away with in the preseason is their health. But unfortunately this is a full contact sport and injuries are a part of the game. Even in games that don't matter.
In the third quarter of the Raiders' week two preseason matchup with the Texans Thursday night, they watched as third-year CB Chigozie ***** ieum went down with a lower body injury and didn't get back up. Eventually the cart came out to take ***** iem off the field while both teams took knees in the hopes his injury wasn't career-threatening.
Anusieum was hoping to make the Raiders roster based on his efforts on special teams. He appeared in three games last season for the Raiders, seeing most of his snaps on special teams. So, naturally, it was on a special teams play that he went down with his injury.
The 6-1, 200-pounder entered the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns out of Colorado State. He spent much of last season in Arizona before being signed by the Raiders off the Cardinals' practice squad late last season. He was making a bid to stick with the Raiders again this season.
