NASCAR driver Gary Myers, part of a four-generation legacy in auto racing, died Thursday, Sept. 10, according to a social media post by his son Burt. He was 76.

Thank God for the times we had. He taught me everything I know. Selfishly I want him here but I know he is much better off now. I miss him so much. I love you Daddy!"
Myers was on the starting line for NASCAR Winston Cup races every year from 1974-78, twice finishing as high as 11th.

On August 26, Movado Group (NYSE:MOV) reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 results that pushed adjusted earnings per share to $0.54 from $0.23 a year earlier, while net sales climbed 4.9% to $169.8 million. The jewelry and watch company also confirmed it will stop issuing annual financial guidance going forward, choosing instead to focus commentary on near-term trends. For a business built on Swiss craftsmanship and a stable of licensed fashion brands, the quarter marked a fifth straight period of positive momentum, and it came with a few surprises tucked inside the numbers.
Some of the headline strength came from a one-time source: $3.2 million in IEEPA duty refunds tied to tariffs paid between February 2025 and May 2026, which lifted GAAP gross margin to 59.4% from 54.1%. But strip that out and adjusted gross margin still rose 340 basis points to 57.5%, driven by favorable channel and product mix, strategic pricing, and less discounting. Growth was broad rather than concentrated in one line item. US net sales rose 4.9%, international sales rose 4.9% as well (4.1% in constant currency), and Latin America and India posted particularly strong results.
Movado.com sales jumped 8%, and Olivia Burton sales grew 23%, powered by small-shaped watches focused on the U.K. and US markets. The company also flagged a resurgence in traditional watch interest among younger buyers, pointing to the Baby Face mini strap watch, which sold out more than 400 units on movado.com in under a month. Looking ahead, Movado is expanding its Tapestry partnership to launch Kate Spade watches starting next fiscal year. The balance sheet backs up the momentum, with $211.6 million in cash, no debt, and $16.6 million already returned to shareholders through dividends this year.
Not every piece of this quarter travels into the second half. Management was explicit that the favorable mix of lower duty rate inventory that padded margins is temporary and is not expected to continue, and second-half gross margin guidance of 55% to 56% reflects that normalization. Sallie DeMarsilis also noted that gross margin gains were partially offset by higher shipping costs tied to fuel surcharges and rising e-commerce volume.
Geographically, the Middle East remains a soft spot, with Efraim Grinberg citing tourism-related headwinds in a region still affected by regional conflict. Operating expenses rose to $85.7 million from $80.6 million, largely on higher performance-based compensation and marketing spend. There is also a smaller but notable item: a $0.2 million pretax charge tied to a misconduct investigation within a Dubai-based Swiss subsidiary branch. And while Movado expects to recover another $6.8 million in IEEPA duties, it has chosen not to recognize that gain until the cash actually arrives, a reminder that not all of this quarter's tailwind is guaranteed to repeat.

PARIS, FRANCE - JANUARY 23: Sandro Mamukelashvili of San Antonio Spurs slam dunks in the NBA game between San Antonio Spurs and the Indiana Pacers at The Accor Arena on January 25, 2025 in Paris, France. (Photo by Dean Mouhtaropoulos/Getty Images)
The Indiana Pacers currently sit somewhere that they are rarely found: over the luxury tax.
In fact, the Pacers haven't been a tax paying team since the 2004-05 season. In the two decades since, the franchise has always finished with a team salary below the luxury tax line and received a distribution of money from the league's taxpaying teams.
Since 2005, the only NBA teams to never cross the luxury tax threshold are the Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, and Sacramento Kings. Reporting suggested that the Pacers may have been willing to do so in the 2025-26 season after their run to the NBA Finals, but Tyrese Haliburton's injury changed everything before Myles Turner left in free agency.
Since 2001-02, the Pacers have finished a season above the luxury tax barrier three times. Yet right now, they are in a position where if no money saving moves are made between now and the last day of the league year, that streak would end at the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.

A bench warrant for Gallagher's arrest was filed in April 2025 and is still active. The warrant was issued at the Dungloe District Court after the Bravo star didn't appear for a court date.

Sandra Bullock debuted a new tattoo at the European premiere of Practical Magic 2 on Wednesday, August 26.
The 62-year-old turned heads at London's Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in a stunning leopard-print Givenchy gown designed by Sarah Burton.
The dress featured a structured corset top and an elaborate skirt with a near-waist-high slit, which she paired with layered gold necklaces and feathered black open-toed heels.
The strapless gown exposed Sandra's back, revealing a delicate cursive tattoo on her shoulder that reads "LB²."
The dainty ink, which Sandra has not publicly discussed, appears to be an homage to her two children, son Louis, 16, and daughter Laila, 12, and her late partner Bryan Randall, who died on August 5, 2023 at 57 after a three-year battle with ALS.

When the Arizona Cardinals waived Trey Benson with an injury designation on Monday, Aug. 24, it earned them unwanted admission into a dubious club.
Twenty-eight months after they entered the NFL, 96 of the first 100 picks in the 2024 draft remain on active rosters. Benson, now, is among the four castaways — until and unless he gets scooped up elsewhere.
The three others: Ja'Lynn Polk, a second-round wide receiver who finished his rookie season with 12 catches and missed all of his second season with injuries before retiring; Jermaine Burton, a third-round wide receiver who developed a habit of missing practices and was involved in a domestic dispute; and Terrion Arnold, who currently faces the possibility of life in prison on kidnapping and robbery charges.
That is the company Benson currently holds. But most concerningly, he's not alone. For the Cardinals, this may just be the beginning of a week-long purge of former top draft picks.
In that same 2024 draft, the Cardinals selected cornerback Elijah Jones with the 90th pick. They seem to have five roster locks at cornerback, meaning Jones could be competing with Starling Thomas V for one roster spot. If that's the case, Thomas would seem to have the inside edge, despite a poor preseason. He was a reliable contributor in 2024 — something Jones has never been — and may need more time to return to full strength after a torn ACL last July.

There is no shortage of picture-perfect smiles in Hollywood. From super-straight veneers to blinding pearly whites, it's rare to see any crooked or yellow-stained teeth on the red carpet. Yet, for decades, Johnny Depp rejected the trend, embracing his imperfect grin.
In 2024, however, the Alice in Wonderland actor surprised fans by debuting a dramatically transformed set of teeth.
Here, we look back at Johnny's smile evolution over the years, from his "rotten" tooth in the 90s to his gold caps in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Johnny's smile has evolved significantly over the years. He showcased his natural pearly whites in a 1990 headshot – the same year he starred opposite Winona Ryder in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, which was followed by a string of big-screen hits including What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Benny & Joon (1993), and Sleepy Hollow (1999).
Over thirty years ago, Johnny insisted that he would never have a "perfect" set of gnashers.

Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton opened up about his relationship with Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones.
Haliburton tore his Achilles in June 2025 during Game 7 of the NBA Finals, while Jones tore his Achilles during Week 14 in December 2025.
Both Indiana-based stars are returning to the court this season after their long absences, and Haliburton opened up on how the pair connected over this time.
At the Pacers Foundation Charity Softball Classic, Haliburton spoke to the media and was asked about Jones, revealing the pair have been talking about their respective recoveries from their Achilles tears.
"Yeah, we talked a good amount. We have the same surgeon. He got hurt much closer to now, and he's coming back earlier. I am excited to see how everything pans out for him."

76ers' Tyrese Maxey spotted working out with Pacers' star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Tyrese Maxey went into the offseason off of what has been one of the more impressive seasons in his career, putting up career-highs with 28.3 points per game, as well as 6.6 ***** ists, showing that he still has a lot left in his bag to use on the court. There's a case to be made that the 25-year-old's incredulous work ethic has made these improvements possible, and all of that really kicks into high gear during the offseason.
The last few months have been an example of Maxey's work rate despite not taking place during the season, as he's been in the gym constantly, working with some new teammates, including Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, or more recently, taking some time with the younger members of the Philadelphia 76ers, VJ Edgecombe and Labaron Philon Jr.
Yet a gym session didn't include a teammate, but rather a conference rival: Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.
Both of the former all-stars were seen in the gym together, having been working out with skills trainer Drew Hanlen, with one of the shots of the two seeing them face off, with the Sixers' star taking the lead with the rock.

BEREA, OH — After a judge's ruling gave former Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright, among others, the option to return to college football and enter the transfer portal, his Cleveland Browns teammates collectively shrugged their shoulders and decided, eh, the portal has to be better than this.
Whether Wright or a roster primarily made up of players multiple years removed from college is allowed to join an NCAA team this fall remains to be seen, but the legal uncertainty is not deterring any of the Browns.
"Bro, I'm 34 years old. I've been in the league for 12 years," said veteran fullback Michael Burton. "Do you think I want to watch us play for the next 4 months?"
Eighth-year linebacker Quincy Williams echoed Burton's comments. "I mean, look around. Are you seeing all this?," said Williams while waving his arms like rotating helicopter blades and gesturing at the practice field.
"Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders? Those are our best quarterbacks! Come on, man. Stop it," said Williams before sighing and slowly walking off the field with a 1,000-yard stare on his face.

The Minnesota Lynx listed rookie phenom Olivia Miles as "probable" for Friday's matchup against the Washington Mystics after she was injured during the team's Wednesday game.
WNBA teams are required to submit a pregame status report at least 24 hours prior to tipoff. "Probable" typically indicates a 75% chance that a player will appear in the game, as opposed to "questionable" or "doubtful."
Lynx star Napheesa Collier, however, is listed as out for "rest" against the Mystics, which comes as the final stop on a four-game road trip. It will be Collier's first missed game since she made her season debut on July 22 after undergoing two ankle surgeries this offseason.
Miles appeared to roll her ankle with 4:27 left in a win over the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday, Aug. 19. She was defending Valkyries guard Veronica Burton when she awkwardly planted her foot and stepped on Collier's foot. Miles limped to the baseline before falling to the ground in pain.
The 23-year-old point guard recorded 20 points, seven ******* ists and five rebounds before she left the game.

In 1924, the Cardinals went 5-4-1, starting out 3-0. They had four shutout victories. They were also shut out twice and held under 10 points five times.
They averaged 9.0 points per game and allowed 6.7. They scored 10 total touchdowns.
Paddy Driscoll was a second-team All-Pro. He threw two touchdown passes and rushed for one. John Hurlburt rushed for two scores and caught a touchdown pass.

The Green Bay Packers' offensive line has become a constant topic of conversation in recent seasons, as the coaches relentlessly mix and match their linemen with the goal of finding the best combination.
Entering training camp this year, it seemed reasonably cut and dry, with Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Anthony Belton and Zach Bako-Bewele expected to be the starting five.
Instead, it has turned into a legitimate competition at both guard spots, and Belton, a second-round pick from last year, seems to be fighting an uphill battle to win the right guard job over rookie fifth-round pick Jager Burton and former fifth-rounder Jacob Monk.
Green Bay's coaches have talked plenty about how Belton's acclimation to the guard position as a rookie was not helped by repping almost exclusively at tackle throughout camp, and the idea was that this summer he would get a proper runway on the interior.
That has not really happened. Mostly due to Bako-Bewele working his way back from injury, Belton has again spent much of camp at right tackle, and quite frankly, has struggled.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Gabby Williams had 23 points and seven rebounds, Veronica Burton added 16 points and five ******* ists, and the Golden State Valkyries clinched a playoff berth by beating the Dallas Wings 78-70 on Monday night for their sixth straight victory.
Golden State (25-9) has already surpassed its win total from last season by two and will get another chance on the postseason stage after becoming the first expansion franchise to reach the playoffs in its inaugural season of 2025. The Valkyries lost to the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx by one point in Game 2 of their first-round matchup.
Golden State center Kiah Stokes played 23 minutes in her return from the concussion protocol after she missed last Wednesday's home win against Chicago.
Another sellout crowd at Chase Center cheered the team to its 15th win in the last 17 games overall — among those fans Warriors star Stephen Curry, son Canon, and some teammates.
The Valkyries took off in the second quarter after another slow start, ending the first half on an 11-0 run on the way to a 44-28 lead at the break. Golden State began 3 for 13 while Dallas made seven of its first 10 shots to go ahead 15-8.

Former Iceland striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has announced his retirement at the age of 34.
Bodvarsson scored four goals in 64 international appearances for Iceland and started the Euro 2016 match in which his country upset England 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals, a result that led to Roy Hodgson's resignation.
The striker spent almost ten years in England, first at Wolves, and then Reading and Millwall, before a successful spell at Bolton between 2022 and 2024 where he scored 25 goals in 94 appearances.
He also played for Wrexham and Burton Albion before heading home to Iceland to return to his first club Selfoss.
Bodvarsson said in a statement on social media: "I want to thank all my managers, coaches, players and staff members that I've been grateful enough to have met and worked with. It was great sharing the highs and lows of football with you."

Tyrese Haliburton believes the Eastern Conference is finally better than the West originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The 2026 offseason has been quite eventful for the Eastern Conference. Jaylen Brown and LeBron James are now with the Philadelphia 76ers, Giannis Antetokounmpo is with the Miami Heat, and the New York Knicks are the defending champions.
It is one of the most loaded Eastern Conferences in a long time, and it could finally end the notion that the Western Conference is the better group. Now, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers believes that he is part of the stronger conference ahead of the 2026-27 season.
With all the moves that happened this offseason and the Pacers' impending comeback with Haliburton, the East is quite challenging to play against. It is one of the most loaded Eastern Conferences in recent memory, which is refreshing due to the many years that the Western Conference has dominated the league.
There are plenty of teams that are ready to compete, as the likes of Philly, Miami, New York, and Indiana are all prepared. At the same time, teams like the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons are still ready to compete at a high level.

Before Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, the point guard was well on his way to becoming a household name. Sure, Haliburton had been well-known to basketball fans for years at that point, but an NBA championship ring would've pushed him into another realm of stardom.
Alas, it wasn't meant to be after Haliburton went down midway through the first quarter of Game 7, with the Oklahoma City Thunder cruising to victory in his absence.
Haliburton's injury coming at the latest possible moment of the season meant he would miss the Pacers' entire 2025-26 campaign rehabbing. Hali would raise his national profile a bit by contributing to Prime Video's NBA Nightcap throughout the season, but the Pacers guard was largely out of sight and out of mind as the team finished 19-63, the worst record in franchise history.
But with Haliburton poised to make his return this upcoming season, and the Pacers looking to right the ship, Indiana would seem to be an intriguing team headed into 2026-27. Alas, the NBA schedule makers didn't find them intriguing enough to put the team in a national television window for Haliburton's return. The Pacers will open the season against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 21 and it will not be nationally televised.
That news didn't sit well with Haliburton, who shared his feelings on a recent episode of the Numbers on the Board podcast.

Tyrese Haliburton on tearing his Achilles in Game 7: I don't know if I'll ever get over it. [...] When I strained my calf, I knew it was a possibility. We knew that internally. Kendrick Perkins was going on TV talking about 'Don't play.' Get the f*** out of here, what is he talking about 'Don't play'? I knew it was a possiblity. In that moment, everyone talks about how it feels like you got kicked. I knew right away, because Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was in front of me, so I was like, 'How did he kick me?' There was a short moment while I was falling where I was like, 'How did he kick me in the back of my leg?' And then I was like, 'Oh s***'. But those emotions were much more, 'I can't believe this is happening right now,' vs. that it happened. Because injuries are a part of the game, and I know I'm going to be fine and I know we're going to be fine as a group, and life goes on. But it was just like, 'Not now. Anytime but right now.' Because everything felt like it was clicking at that moment.

Tyrese Haliburton reveals that Giannis Antetokounmpo is impossibly hard to scheme against originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Now that he is on the Miami Heat, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a weapon for the team. Everyone in the NBA is familiar with his impact when he was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, but now he will be the star in South Beach alongside Bam Adebayo.
He is one of the most dominant players in the league, so it is not surprising that other players are wary of him and the Heat moving forward. As the Bucks' fiercest rivals, Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers were quite familiar with the Greek Freak.
Over the years, the Bucks and Pacers became fierce rivals. While the Bucks have had tremendous success, it seems Antetokounmpo and the team struggled to win against Haliburton's Pacers. It was a fierce rivalry with trash talk on both sides, but it seems Indiana won the war, especially with the two postseason series victories.
Despite how it looked, the Pacers did struggle against the Bucks from time to time. They might have a lot of wins against them, but head coach Rick Carlisle was hard at work making adjustments, setting up schemes, and preparing his team to play against the Bucks.
