NASCAR driver Gary Myers, part of a four-generation legacy in auto racing, died Thursday, Sept. 10, according to a social media post by his son Burt. He was 76.
"Last night I lost my hero," Burt Myers wrote on Facebook. "He fought so hard but was so tired. My daddy is in Heaven and can finally do the things he wanted to do the last several years. Thank God for the times we had. He taught me everything I know. Selfishly I want him here but I know he is much better off now. I miss him so much. I love you Daddy!"
Myers was on the starting line for NASCAR Winston Cup races every year from 1974-78, twice finishing as high as 11th.

The FSU Seminoles fell to the SMU Mustangs 27-24 on Monday in Doak Campbell Stadium, and their fans are fed up with the team and Mike Norvell. It was a winnable game for Florida State, but they once again found ways to lose.
Since their 13-1 season in 2023, when they won the ACC and nearly made the College Football Playoff, FSU has gone 8-18 overall and 3-17 in conference play under Norvell. That has caused numerous fans to call for his job, but that is not an easy move.
While their performance over the past two-plus seasons has been well below FSU's standards, it will be expensive to move on from Norvell. According to Craig Myers of USA TODAY Sports, his buyout is $46.7 million if he is fired before Dec. 1, 2026.
If FSU does decide to fire Norvell, his buyout would be the third-biggest in college football history, behind only the $76.8 million the Texas A&M Aggies paid Jimbo Fisher and the $54 million the LSU Tigers paid Brian Kelly. The Seminoles paid Willie Taggart $18 million when they fired him during the 2029 season.

Several people were injured – with one of them hospitalized – when a railing collapsed during a high school football game at the Minnesota Vikings' TCO Stadium in Eagan on Friday.
The freak incident happened during the game between Cretin-Derham Hall and St. Thomas Academy at the Vikings' training campus, with students leaning against a railing as Cretin-Derham Hall players celebrated in front of them.
Video shared to social media shows the railing at the front of the bleachers collapsing, sending spectators crashing to the ground, some of them landing on top of CDH players.
In an email to families, Cretin-Derham Hall President Jeb Myers said 20-30 players fell between four and six feet to the ground.
The Minnesota Vikings issued a statement saying that several people were treated at the scene by paramedics, with one sent to a hospital for further evaluation.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise raised its fiscal 2026 revenue growth forecast to a range of 34% to 37%, up from a prior range of 29% to 33%, after reporting record quarterly sales driven by demand for AI servers and networking equipment.
Third-quarter revenue rose 34% from a year earlier to $12.2 billion, the company said. HPE also raised its adjusted earnings per share forecast for the full year to between $3.75 and $3.85, up from a prior range of $3.35 to $3.45.
HPE stock fell more than 5% in extended trading after the results were released. Although revenue beat the consensus ******* yst estimate, it missed the mark for investors who had anticipated even stronger results, according to Bloomberg.
Server revenue climbed 35% to $6.8 billion in the quarter. Networking revenue jumped 75% to $2.9 billion, driven by data center networking that more than doubled and a 270% surge in routing revenue, the company said.
Supply constraints remain a limiting factor. Chief Executive Officer Antonio Neri said on a conference call that HPE is working with partners to secure additional multiyear supply agreements, according to Bloomberg. Chief Financial Officer Marie Myers told Reuters that memory tops the list of constrained components, with NAND, CPUs, and drives also creating shortfalls, and that the company has entered into extended supply agreements to shore up access to critical parts. "Demand is far outstripping supply," Myers said.

Bob Myers, the executive given the most credit for Golden State's four NBA championships from the 2014-15 season to the 2021-22 season, recently took the time to join NBA Hall of Famers Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter on their podcast. Throughout the duration of the episode, Myers revealed many stories throughout his career, discussing what factors led to him leaving the team, what he misses most about the role and the toughest decision he had to make when in charge.
Additionally, Myers shared a story about a veteran player that urged him to keep the roster in tact prior to their eventual dynasty. Aug 25 (Reuters) - Bristol Myers Squibb has ended its partnership with cell therapy startup Cellares to expand the manufacturing of its personalized blood cancer therapy, a company spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday.
Bristol Myers determined that Cellares' cell therapy manufacturing platform, Cell Shuttle, could not meet the requirements to make its CAR-T therapy, Breyanzi, at commercial scale, the spokesperson said. Cellares did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
The development underscores the challenges of manufacturing CAR-T therapies, a personalized form of cancer treatment that has transformed care for some blood cancer patients but remains difficult and expensive to produce.
Breyanzi, first approved by the U.S. FDA in 2021, is used to treat lymphoma and other blood cancers. It generated $1.36 billion in sales in 2025.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dane Myers went back and forth on social media in a heated exchange with ex-Reds OF Tommy Pham over Myers' costly fly-ball drop in the ninth inning of a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

With the Reds up a run on the Cardinals and two outs in the ninth, JJ Wetherholt hit a seemingly harmless fly ball to left field that should have ended the game. Yet, left fielder TJ Friedl — a regular center fielder — was battling the sun. And Myers came running in to call off Friedl.
That was when everything unraveled.
After calling off Friedl, Myers reached for the ball only to have it deflect off his glove. Notice that Myers had his sunglasses on top of his hat, which probably didn't help matters. Two runs scored on the error, and the Cardinals ended up piling on for a six-run ninth.
Despite the demoralizing error and the sudden five-run hole, the Reds did make a rally in the bottom half of the ninth. But the Cardinals held on to win, 10-5.
