It was a nail biter, but the San Diego Padres came away from it with a seven-game win streak and back-to-back sweeps for the third time this season. It was a great game to cap off the sweep. Ethan Salas finally notched his first big-league hit with a triple in Oracle Park, Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Manny Machado launched his 27th home run of the season.
The Friars will now turn to the Colorado Rockies to round out their penultimate road trip of the 2026 season. It's a four-game set in the hitter-friendly environs of Coors Field. With the way the Padres have been swinging their bats lately (37 runs in their last six games; 6.2 runs per game), they should have no problem keeping the good vibes rolling.
Sugano has been surprisingly good in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field. That said, he's still pitched to a 5.30 ERA. But that number goes down to 4.96 at home compared to 5.64 away. It's an interesting split to have when Colorado is known for being a hitter's dream.
The righty has been particularly awful recently. In his last seven starts, Sugano has pitched to a 7.71 ERA across 35 innings pitched. In his last three starts, he's surrendered a whopping 14 runs (16.0 IP). If San Diego's recently potent lineup can take advantage of that, they would be well on their way to their eighth straight win.

DaSaahn Brame immediately became one of Tennessee's most important players when tight end Ethan Davis suffered a season-ending ACL injury.
Brame, a sophomore tight end, should make the biggest jump in the depth chart to replace Davis. But others could factor in as the Vols try to retool their offensive plan after losing a valuable player.
Davis suffered the knee injury in the Vols' 45-24 win over Georgia Tech on Sept. 12. Coach Josh Heupel announced on Sept. 14 that he will miss the remainder of the season.
Davis is the fifth UT player to suffer a season-ending injury, joining starting safety Edrees Farooq (knee), backup receiver Joakim Dodson (leg), reserve linebacker Jaedon Harmon (knee) and Miami transfer cornerback Jadais Richard (upper-body).

(NYSE:EPD) reported record second-quarter adjusted EBITDA of $2.8 billion, up 17% year over year, while operational distributable cash flow reached a record $2.3 billion, up 21%. Moreover, pipeline volumes reached a record 14.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 8%, while marine-terminal volumes increased 33% to 2.8 million barrels per day. India needs to expand biofuel production and consumption to boost its energy security as crude oil prices soar amid the Middle East crisis, according to Tarun Kapoor, an adviser in India's Prime Minister's Office.
"The future of biofuels is about maximizing value from every available resource," Kapoor said at the India Sugar and Bio-Energy Conference.
"From ethanol and compressed biogas to new applications in transport, industry and energy, we must expand the market and fully utilize the capacity we have created," the PM office's adviser said.
India, the world's third-largest crude oil importer, which depended on the Middle East for nearly half of its crude oil imports before the war, has been paying a high price for alternative crude supplies since the Iran war began.
India launched in June a new fuel blend with an 85% ethanol component as part of the fuel flex mobility program to reduce dependence on imported oil.

Ethan first became interested in chess when he was six years old after he spotted someone else playing.
Now 13, he plays for Strand Chess Club in east Belfast and has represented Ireland through all his age groups.
Last week he became the youngest Ulster chess champion in history – not just in his age category but across all ages.
"I was really surprised because I've never won any of the big tournaments before, I've always got so close and I managed to win it in the end," Ethan told BBC News NI.

Javier will start Friday's series opener against Arizona at Daikin Park. Ethan Pecko and Peter Lambert are scheduled to start the final two games of the series, which concludes a stretch of 13 games with no off-day for Houston.
Javier has a 6.45 ERA in 44 ⅔ innings this season, starting eight of his 13 appearances. He is allowing a 1.104 OPS when facing hitters for a second time in a game as a starter.
