Hayden Panettiere's death continues to spark emotional reactions online. Skincare brand Neutrogena is now facing criticism over a recent statement about the late actress. The brand acknowledged that she felt "unsupported" during a difficult period in her life.
According to HuffPost, Neutrogena issued a public statement days after Panettiere's death, following renewed attention to her past comments about the company.
The actress served as a Neutrogena spokesperson for more than a decade. In a May interview, she said she believed the company distanced itself from her after she publicly discussed her postpartum depression.
In its Instagram statement, Neutrogena said it was "deeply saddened" by Panettiere's passing and acknowledged that it had made her "feel unsupported during a very difficult time."
The company also announced plans for a major investment in a longtime community health partner. The funds will improve access to postpartum depression support. It said more details would be shared once those plans are finalized.

Hyundai Motor is considering expanding production capacity at its Georgia ******* embly plant from 500,000 vehicles annually to between 700,000 and 800,000 units by 2028, CEO José Muñoz told CNBC on Thursday. The South Korean automaker said following publication of the interview that the plans are under consideration but not yet confirmed.
At the upper end of that range, the Georgia Metaplant would leapfrog rivals — among them Tesla and Toyota Motor — to claim the top spot among U.S. vehicle ******* embly plants measured by capacity.
Muñoz said President Donald Trump's tariffs, including a 15% levy on imports from South Korea, have accelerated the company's localization plans. "Tariffs are helping accelerate our localization plan. That's very, very simple," he said. "The good thing is that we had already started before tariffs were announced. So in a way it's helping us to accelerate."
Any such expansion would be funded through Hyundai's already-announced $26 billion U.S. investment commitment running to 2028. Hyundai has targeted a domestic production share of at least 80% of the vehicles it moves in the U.S. market by 2030, compared with roughly 40% in 2024. "For that purpose, we need to add more capacity," Muñoz said.
The $7.6 billion Metaplant, which Hyundai first announced in 2022, is currently turning out the all-electric Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 models alongside the Kia Sportage hybrid. The facility is designed to build hybrid and all-electric vehicles for the Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia brands. Under the existing 500,000-unit framework, the Georgia campus would employ upward of 8,500 people directly, with a further 6,900 positions supported at supplier facilities nearby.

Permian Resources Corporation (NYSE:PR) was held by 56 hedge funds at the end of Q1 2026, remaining unchanged from the previous quarter. However, the total stake value of these hedge fund investors surged from just over $1.2 billion in Q4 2025 to around $1.8 billion in the first quarter.
Ken Griffin's Citadel Investment Group held the largest stake in PR at the end of Q1, with a total value of almost $266 million.
Permian Resources Corporation (NYSE:PR) has turned into one of the most important shale operators in the United States. The company delivered exceptional results for its Q2 2026 earlier this month, supported by higher oil prices, increasing production, and strong financial discipline.
Permian Resources reported a record free cash flow of $751 million during the quarter, up almost 50% sequentially, and translating into a record free cash flow per share of $0.88. Meanwhile, oil production also surged by 3% sequentially, and the company's updated oil output guidance of 199,000 bpd for the full year 2026 is 10% higher than 2025.
Notably, the energy firm expects to achieve the higher production target with approximately 1% lower spending compared to last year, highlighting the improving capital efficiency of its business.

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) is one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world. The stock hit an all-time peak earlier this year and has surged by over 35% since the beginning of 2026, supported by high energy prices and strong earnings amid the disruptions in the Middle East.
After pulling back over the last few months, Chevron is now bouncing back, and the ****** ysts over at Morgan Stanley expect this rally to continue at full pace. On August 19, the ****** yst firm raised its price target on CVX from $210 to $218, while reaffirming an 'Overweight' rating on its shares. This is up almost 6% from the current levels and even above the stock's all-time high of just under $215 achieved earlier this year.
The bullish outlook comes as Morgan Stanley adjusted its price estimates and targets in the energy sector to reflect the latest 2026 outlooks and current strip prices. The firm believes that integrated energy companies, like Chevron, have not yet rallied as much with the soaring refining margins as the pure-play refiners.
Despite Chevron's impressive YTD performance, its gains pale in comparison with those of refiners like Valero Energy and Marathon Petroleum, whose stocks have each soared by over 100% since the beginning of 2026.

Neutrogena has responded after comments from late actress Hayden Panettiere resurfaced, in which she claimed the brand ended their decade-long partnership after she spoke publicly about her experience with postpartum depression.
In the wake of Panettiere's untimely death at age 36 on Aug. 16, Neutrogena has been subject to widespread backlash and calls for a consumer boycott. On Thursday, Aug. 20, it issued a statement saying it was "deeply saddened" by her passing.
"For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community. We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be."
"Hayden's courage in sharing her challenges helped inspire important conversations and awareness," the statement continued. "We are making a significant investment in a long-standing community health partner to help give more women access to the support they need, including care for postpartum depression. We will share more details with this community when plans are in place."
Panettiere-who first rose to fame on NBC's Heroes-started working with Neutrogena in the mid-2000s.

Representatives for the beauty brand Neutrogena have broken their silence about their treatment of their former ambassador Hayden Panettiere following her death.
While promoting her memoir earlier this year, the Heroes actress claimed that Neutrogena dropped her as their brand ambassador after 10 years in 2015 because she spoke about her postpartum depression battle on a U.S. talk show.
The allegations resurfaced this week after Panettiere died on Sunday, prompting backlash against the company, which saw its stock spiral amid a fan boycott.
Addressing the uproar on social media on Thursday, reps for Neutrogena acknowledged that they made her feel "unsupported" while she was struggling.
"For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community," they wrote. "We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be."
They praised Panettiere's "courage" in speaking out about a taboo subject and vowed to make a "significant investment to a long-standing community health partner" to support women's health causes, including postpartum depression.

HOUSTON, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday and settled at the highest in nearly four weeks, as investors worried about escalating tensions in the Middle East after ‌the United Arab Emirates decided to suspend all financial and economic transactions with Iran, and as ship ‌traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained slow.
Brent crude futures settled at $91.62 a barrel, up 60 cents, or 0.7%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 89 cents, or 1.1%, to settle at $85.83 a barrel.
Both benchmarks closed at their highest since July 24.
"Crude futures remain supported by the geopolitical tensions that remain in the Middle East, now with the UAE stating they have cut off all financial ties to Iran due to the latest missile attacks," said Dennis Kissler, senior vice president of ‌trading at BOK Financial.

Several members of the Federal Reserve favored raising interest rates at the central bank's policy meeting last month, even as most supported holding rates steady, according to minutes from the meeting released Wednesday.
Those who favored raising rates noted that price pressures appeared broad-based and thought rates should be higher to restrict the economy and bring down inflation.
Three voting members of the Fed — Cleveland Fed president Beth Hammack, Dallas Fed president Lorie Logan, and Minneapolis Fed president Neel Kashkari — dissented, preferring to raise rates by a quarter percentage point. Since the meeting, other officials have spoken, including Kansas City Fed president Jeff Schmid, who also suggested that rates should be higher to rein in inflation.

Most participants supported holding rates steady and believed forthcoming data before the next policy meeting would offer more clarity and reduce uncertainty about the inflation outlook.

"I feel like my life changed when I came here and I was able to get to my dreams and goals because of the University of Iowa," he added.

The Yankees (71-55) and the Orioles (61-66) conclude their three-game AL East series tonight at Camden Yards. With wins in the first two games, New York has pulled to within five games of first-place Tampa Bay in the AL East. Baltimore opened the series sitting in the final Wild Card spot but now are 1.5 games behind the Twins for a postseason berth.
Last night the Yankees won, 5-3. Along the way, they may have gotten a little help from the umpires. More on that in a moment. The Orioles struck first in unusual fashion in the bottom of the first. Jackson Holliday stole home to give Baltimore an early 1-0 lead. New York answered quickly. In the second inning, Ryan McMahon delivered an RBI single that scored Jazz Chisholm Jr., tying the game before being thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double. Moments later, George Lombard Jr. hit a sacrifice fly that brought home Spencer Jones to give the Yankees a 2-1 advantage. The Yankees extended the lead in the third when Ben Rice launched a 447-foot solo homer to right-center field, his 34th home run of the season. Baltimore responded immediately as Pete Alonso crushed a 423-foot homer of his own in the bottom half, trimming the deficit to 3-2. The game remained close into the sixth inning when Orioles outfielder Dylan Beavers tied the score at 3-3 with a solo homer to left-center.
The pivotal and controversial moment arrived in the seventh. Alonso thought he had given Baltimore the lead with a deep drive down the left-field line. The ball clearly looked to tuck inside the foul pole but was ruled foul...even after review. Instead of taking a 4-3 lead, the Orioles remained tied, and the Yankees took advantage in the eighth inning. In the top of the eighth, New York loaded the bases and grabbed the lead when Lombard Jr. beat out an infield single, scoring Heliot Ramos. Moments later, Orioles reliever Yennier Cano uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Jazz Chisholm Jr. to score an insurance run and give the Yankees a 5-3 advantage. The Yankees bullpen closed the door from there. Brent Headrick earned the victory with a scoreless seventh, while David Bednar recorded his 29th save with a clean ninth inning.
Tonight's pitching matchup features a couple of veteran righthanders in Gerrit Cole (6-6, 3.22 ERA) and Kyle Bradish (7-11, 3.65 ERA). After missing last season and the first couple of months this season following Tommy John surgery, Cole has been an ace over his last four starts allowing a mere four earned runs across 24.2 innings. As good as he has been, the Yankees' bats have rarely supported him, though, as New York has lost four of his last seven starts. Bradish has also been stingy over the past couple of months. The righthander has allowed two or fewer earned runs in his last three starts and in five of his last six outings. The O's have won four of his last six starts.
Lets dive into tonight's matchup and find a sweat or two.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) received a major vote of confidence from Rothschild Redburn today, with the firm upgrading the stock from Neutral to "Buy" and raising its price target to $400 from $260. The upgrade rests on two major catalysts for Apple: its entry into premium foldables and a strategic reset to the Apple Intelligence platform.
Apple's bull case lies within its tight integration of premium hardware, proprietary silicon, and its rapidly expanding services layer. For the near future, **** yst James Cordwell anticipates iPhone sales to grow at a 12% five-year annual compound rate, roughly 3-14% above consensus expectations between fiscal 2026 and 2030.
This anticipated increase is backed by Apple's potential entry into the premium foldables market, particularly with the launch of iPhone Ultra. Not only will Apple gain a new product category with the launch, but will also be able to lift its average selling prices for the broader iPhone lineup.

On Monday came the stunning news that five of the six Buss family siblings had voted to sell their remaining share of the Los Angeles Lakers that they hadn't sold to Mark Walter last year. They agreed to sell that remaining stake to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, who had already agreed to purchase Walter's majority share last week.
The lone dissenter among the Buss siblings is Jeanie Buss, the governor of the team. The other five issued a statement on Tuesday reiterating their decision to sell, per ESPN.
"The Los Angeles Lakers have never been just a basketball team. They have been one of the greatest privileges of our lives," the Buss family said in a statement to ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday. "Our focus has always been on what we believe is best for the Lakers, the fans who have supported this franchise for generations and the greater Los Angeles community.
"Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey and Jesse have made the decision to sell the family's remaining stake, and we remain united in that decision. We intend to move forward thoughtfully, respectfully and through the appropriate process."
It was Dr. Jerry Buss, the late father of the six Buss siblings, who first purchased the Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke in 1979. In the 34 years he owned the team, it won 10 NBA championships and reached the NBA Finals 16 times, transforming it from a bridesmaid franchise into the gold standard of basketball.

Portland, Oregon, mother Allison Roberts filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Portland Public Schools and her children's elementary school after allegedly facing retaliation over her opposition to their gender curriculum.
According to the Liberty Justice Center, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of Roberts, she initially expressed concern last year over Meriwether Lewis Elementary School's decision to repaint its traditional rainbow pride flag into an "Intersex-Inclusive Progress" variant to include support for racial and transgender ideology.
Though Roberts supported "being immersed" in Portland's gay community, she felt that the new flag was "an overtly political symbol that promotes values contradictory to her Christian faith," specifically due to its promotion of transgenderism.
