Headline 2: Türkiye receives first dedicated organic cotton training resource
The Organic Cotton Training Curriculum (OCTC) is now publicly available in Turkish and English, alongside a Trainer’s Handbook to support sector-wide adoption.
Developed with Ankara-based Prospera Impact and informed by Turkish sector partners, the curriculum adapts proven good farming practices to Türkiye’s soils, climate and growing conditions.
It also introduces the programme’s first module on regenerative agriculture, offering clear direction on soil health, biodiversity and long-term resilience.

PARIS, Dec 4 (Reuters) - The European Union has reached a preliminary deal on how to regulate gene-edited crops in a move that could ease the development of new varieties in a region long wary of biotech innovations in food.
The EU has debated for years how to regulate so-called new genomic techniques (NGT), which can edit the genetic material of an organism without introducing traits from another species.
Proponents say the technology accelerates naturally-occurring mutations and offers a response to climate and environmental pressures, while critics bracket it with genetically modified o

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday a reset of Joe Biden's fuel-economy standards, arguing it will lower US car prices -- but critics warned it would worsen climate change and leave drivers paying more at the pump.
Trump was flanked in the Oval Office by the CEOs of Ford and Stellantis and a senior General Motors official, a show of buy-in from Detroit's "Big Three."
"My administration is taking historic action to lower costs for American consumers, protect American auto jobs and make buying a car much more affordable," the US president said.

Africa’s forests have turned from a carbon sink into a carbon source, according to research that underscores the need for urgent action to save the world’s great natural climate stabilizers.
The alarming shift, which has happened since 2010, means all of the planet’s three main rainforest regions — the South American Amazon, Southeast Asia, and Africa — have gone from being allies in the fight against climate breakdown to being part of the problem.

If you're climate-conscious, you might be interested to know that conventional cement production accounts for a massive chunk of annual global carbon dioxide emissions. Concrete and cement have been the standard for building houses and skyscrapers for decades, but the energy required to produce cement, especially for firing limestone in kilns, results in a massive environmental impact. There's an alternative right under our noses, though. Researchers in Australia have introduced a new building option called cardboard-confined rammed earth, a material made from just soil, water, and recycled ca

Scientists issue dire warning about looming threat to coastal communities: 'Would likely generate'
A new international report warned that current temperature targets to reduce global overheating may not prevent catastrophic ice loss that's threatening coastal communities worldwide, per a recent piece by Durham University.
Research from Durham University contributed to the State of the Cryosphere Report, which revealed that achieving sea-level management requires limiting warming to 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit or less.

In Alaska, what was once a permanently frozen layer of earth is now warming.
Researchers are studying this former permafrost to better understand how these melting layers can contribute to our warming climate, Bloomberg reported.
Permafrost refers to any area of ground that remains frozen year-round, not thawing in the summer. It is typically found in the Arctic or in high-altitude, mountainous regions.
Permafrost also effectively stores carbon. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's 2019 Arctic Report Card, it held about twice as much as what was in the atmosphe

In the fast-moving world of biotech innovation, few figures have commanded attention in 2025 the way Ben Lamm has.
As founder and CEO of Colossal Biosciences, he has transformed what sounded like science fiction into a high-stakes, headline-dominating movement.
His company’s mission, once dismissed as sensational, now sits at the center of global discussions about climate solutions, genetics, and the future of life itself.
Ben Lamm’s rise began with a concept that seemed almost too audacious to be real: bringing extinct species back into the modern world.

Using fossil fuels to produce energy has had a detrimental impact on the planet. Despite pushes for cleaner energy, the power sector is still the top producer of harmful emissions according to the United Nations. As it becomes clear that human-driven climate change is making it harder for trees to breathe, it is fitting that a new proposed solution is inspired by the photosynthesis of plants.
A team of researchers at the University of Cambridge has developed artificial photosynthesis. The system mimics plants by using sunlight, water, and CO2 to create energy. The benefit of this system is th

Rising temperatures have devastated two of India’s most prized crops, forcing farmers to look for ways to adapt to climate change as global demand for the products grows in line with rising incomes.
Heat has devastated the cultivation of cardamom: Last year’s poor harvest pushed prices up 70%. Meanwhile, India’s tea production dropped almost 6% this year compared to last after temperatures repeatedly topped 35°C (95°F), meaning “the bushes essentially shut down,” an expert told Nikkei.

Now, the church in Iznik, a small town several hours from Istanbul, stands on dry land, its ruins exposed as the waters that engulfed it for more than 700 years have receded due to climate change.

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The first Group of 20 summit to be held in Africa opens on Saturday with an ambitious agenda to make progress on solving some of the long-standing problems that have afflicted the world's poorest nations.
Leaders and top government officials from the richest and leading emerging economies will come together at an exhibition center near the famous Soweto township in South Africa — once home to Nelson Mandela — to try and find some consensus on the priorities set out by the host country.
They include more help for poor countries to recover from climate-related disasters, re

UN climate summit drops mention of fossil fuels from draft deal
All mention of fossil fuels, by far the largest contributor to climate change, has been dropped from the draft deal under negotiation at the COP30 UN climate talks in Belém, Brazil enter their final stretch.
Draft agreements at the meeting of nearly 200 countries usually go through multiple revisions as all parties must agree in order for a deal to pass.
Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and some countries including the UK want the summit to commit countries to stronger, faster action to reduce their use of fossil

US budget cuts risk creating blind spots in Earth monitoring systems that would imperil weather forecasting and climate research for years to come, the deputy chair of a key UN-backed climate monitoring body warned in an AFP interview.
Peter Thorne is the deputy chair of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), a little-known but crucial UN-backed programme that tracks and evaluates data on the atmosphere, land and ocean.

More than 300 industrial agriculture lobbyists have participated at this year’s UN climate talks taking place in the Brazilian Amazon, where the industry is the leading cause of deforestation, a new investigation has found.
The number of lobbyists representing the interests of industrial cattle farming, commodity grains and pesticides is up 14% on last year’s summit in Baku – and larger than the delegation of the world’s 10th largest economy, Canada, which brought 220 delegates to Cop30 in Belém, according to the joint investigation by DeSmog and the Guardian.

Scientists and artists unveil startling exhibition on looming crisis: 'Call it what you will — it's happening'
What happens when a poet, an artist, and an ecologist walk into a room? The answer comes in the form of a traveling exhibit aimed to educate people about the dangers of the climate crisis.

BELEM, Brazil (AP) — Global efforts to curb emissions of the potent but short-lived heat-trapping gas methane are doing about as poorly as the more prevalent carbon dioxide, but there's hope for the next five years, U.N. officials said Monday.
Methane emissions can be a “hand brake” for slowing greenhouse gas pollution and temperatures, said Martina Otto, head of the U.N.'s climate and clean air commission for methane pollution. That's because methane from fossil fuels traps nearly 30 times the heat of the more common carbon dioxide, but because they don't last nearly as long in the air, fast

Climate change is real but it’s a part of life, weather changes all the time, it’s nothing to do with cars and factories it happens anyway. You see all throughout history weather gets warmer and colder. The average temperature uk was 5c warmer than it is today in 10th century.
