Bednarek, a two-time Olympic 200m silver medalist, earned the biggest individual race win of his career. He ran 9.85, beating 2025 World champion Oblique Seville of Jamaica by five hundredths. Bednarek is also running Sunday in the 200, an event where's the world's fastest man this year.

The inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship features three days of competition in Budapest with the best of the best on display. The field for each event will consist solely of reigning Olympic and world champions and athletes ranked in the top 12 to 16 in the world for track events and the top eight for field events.

Texas high school football season featured some marquee showdowns this weekend. The Week 2 schedule featured blockbuster games and also some equally notable final scores. Below are the top 25 Texas high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 6.
If the last two weekends proved anything, it's that Allen is back. Behind standout performances from 2029 QB Ty Snell and the entire Eagles defense, Allen has knocked off powerhouses Duncanville and DeSoto to open the season, 50-6. Snell passed for four TD on seven attempts, three of those scores going to fellow 2029 WR Zach Williams. Allen held a 28-0 lead at halftime with the defense setting a strong pace in this one.

While starring in the 1989 production, a young Hart found an unexpected mentor in the "Ally McBeal" star, she tells USA TODAY.
"I was about 10, 11, and she was young. She was like 18," Hart says. "She used to have me come over to her house and do sleepovers and she'd give me her hand-me-down clothes. I watched the way she prepped for work."

ORLANDO — Gabe Lazo's first season as UCF's women's basketball coach includes seven Sunshine State showdowns.
The Knights, who announced their non-conference schedule on Aug. 27 will face two of the state's supposed "Big 3" schools in the opening month of the 2026-27 campaign. They will travel to Florida on Nov. 5 and meet Florida State for a neutral-site clash at ESPN's Wide World of Sports on Nov. 21.
Lazo, a former ***** istant at Mississippi State, Tennessee and LSU among other stops, signed a five-year contract in April. He became the first Latino head coach of a Power Four women's basketball program.
UCF will welcome five more in-state rivals to Addition Financial Arena: Florida A&M for the Nov. 3 opener, North Florida (Nov. 17), Stetson (Nov. 19), Jacksonville (Nov. 24) and Florida Atlantic (Dec. 15). Rebel Wilson is being accused of funding efforts to publicly harm a Hollywood producer's reputation.
Amanda Ghost's latest filing in her defamation case against the actress, 46, includes alleged correspondence between Wilson and publicist Melissa Nathan that Ghost claims shows them discussing the creation of anonymous websites about her, according to documents filed Aug. 25 in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by USA TODAY.
Wilson's attorney, Allyson Thompson, addressed the allegations in a statement to USA TODAY, calling Ghost's motion "by its very nature, one-sided and thus incomplete. This case is in active litigation and involves thousands of documents and a large number of witnesses."
"There are two sides to every story and Ms. Wilson looks forward to telling her side at the trial in this disputed matter. There are key defense issues that will be addressed in due course," Thompson concluded.

The Texas Longhorns avoided a worst-case scenario when star redshirt junior left tackle Trevor Goosby was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee after sustaining an injury in practice on Monday evening, according to reports from ESPN and On3.
The news broke early in the morning from Orangebloods that the 6'7, 325-pounder had suffered an injury of unknown severity pending the MRI that ultimately revealed the bone bruise.
There is not currently a timetable for Goosby's return as the healing time for bone bruises can fluctuate, according to On3's Pete Nakos. In recent years, NFL players who have suffered similar injuries returned on varying timetables ranging from several practices to three games. With the season opener against Texas State now in two and a half weeks, even the longer timetable could allow Goosby to return for the high-profile matchup against No. 1 Ohio State in Austin on Sept. 12, 25 days away.
A preseason first-team All-SEC selection who is projected as one of the top tackles in the 2027 NFL Draft class, Goosby is one of the most important players on the team, ***** igned to protect the blind side of redshirt junior quarterback Arch Manning, something that the Melissa product did at an elite level in 2025, his first season as a starter — Goosby only allowed three sacks and three quarterback hits, according to Pro Football Focus, and graded out even better as a run blocker.
If Goosby does have to sit out early in the season, Texas may have to shuffle its offensive line to get the five best players on the field.

Stars are paying tribute to Hayden Panettiere after the actor's death Sunday at 36.
Panettiere was a prolific actor who rose to fame as a star on NBC's "Heroes" and scored a crossover TV-music hit with the series "Nashville." She was open about her struggles with alcohol and post-partum depression and stopped acting for several years, returning for "Scream VI" in 2023.
Among those paying tribute to Panettiere on Monday were fellow actors Viola Davis, Melissa Barrera and Bethany Joy Lenz, and podcaster Jay Shetty.

A Florida man charged in the 1987 killing of a 20-year-old mother allegedly confessed after contacting authorities himself, and investigators say he described details of the crime that had never been publicly released.
Gary Edward Glowacz, 70, was charged with second-degree murder and armed burglary with ****** ault or battery in the death of Melissa Ellison, who was found dead inside her Jacksonville home Dec. 28, 1987, according to court records obtained by Fox News Digital.
Ellison was found lying on her bed after her roommates first discovered her 13-month-old child crying on a couch in the living room, according to Glowacz's arrest report.
Tipster Charged With Murder After Police Say Anonymous Call Helped Solve 30-Year Disappearance
Investigators said Ellison had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head and neck. Blood was found on the sheets, her head had been positioned below a pillow and a nightgown had been pulled over her waistline, according to the arrest report.
