The Devils fell behind when Cole Sandford - who left Cardiff in the summer - returned to score inside three minutes against his former club.
Josh MacDonald tied the game with a deflected shot midway through the first period and the game remained 1-1 going into the third.
Joey Martin became only the fifth player in Elite League history to reach 700 points with an ****** ist on Kohen Olischefski's go-ahead goal, and defenceman Nick Welsh sealed the win with just under two and a half minutes to play.
Devils netminder Ben Bowns was man of the match, saving 45 of 46 shots.

Is it possible to build hype around a new professional sport franchise if it does not play in its home city?
Those behind the Belfast Wolves, founding members of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), think 'yes it is' and they have ambitions to attract new audiences to the sport.
Stormont was packed during a summer of international cricket, but the Wolves are so-far playing exclusively on the road. Its owners hope Belfast will host matches next year.
Until it gets its ducks in a row, the franchise's backers are working hard to get the brand known and build a fanbase.

This weekend marks a historic return to Madrid for Formula 1, with the Spanish Grand Prix taking place at the brand new Madring on Sunday.
The Madring marks the first all-new venue to be added to the F1 calendar since the Las Vegas Strip Circuit in 2023, meaning drivers have no idea what to expect. The layout features a combination of public roads and new purpose-built sections, as well as an intense Turn 12 nicknamed 'La Monumental', which is officially the longest banked corner in the sport.
Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli returned to winning ways at his home race in Monza last week, even with a grid penalty that started him in the 19th position. The 19-year-old is still holding strong at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings, with teammate George Russell 66 points behind.
F1 hasn't competed in the Spanish capital in 45 years. Who will become the inaugural champion at the Madring?

PASADENA -- San Diego State's defense did practically everything they could to keep the Aztecs in the game against UCLA. They just needed the offense to come along for the ride.
Despite the defense largely holding UCLA's offense in check, SDSU's offense managed just 189 yards and one touchdown — coming effectively in garbage time — in a 28-10 loss to the Bruins at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
"Inefficiency on offense led to a bunch of snaps for the defense," head coach Sean Lewis said. "Starting three and out there constantly, we were behind in the field position game. So I think just the culmination of snaps, the inefficiency on offense. It starts with the play calling, with myself, the leadership throughout the course of the week, so that we can have more success and flip the field."
Nowhere was SDSU's offensive struggle more apparent than in the passing game. The Aztecs completed just six passes for 45 yards, and several deep shots by quarterback Jayden Denegal were wildly off-target.
"[We] felt like we had good matchups on the edge," Lewis said. "There was a lot of single-high coverage. Again, those are good, calculated shots downrange. We got ***** on hands that we didn't catch. We had other guys wide open that we missed."

Tennessee football's pass defense distinguished itself with crucial first-half interceptions, and its running game too often was too much for Georgia Tech on Sept. 12 at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
That combination proved decisive as the No. 18 Vols improved to 2-0 with a 45-24 victory over upset-minded Georgia Tech (0-2). But that one-two punch wasn't enough to produce a runaway comparable to the Vols' 56-9 victory over Furman in the season opener.
If you were familiar with Georgia Tech's history under fourth-year coach Brent Key, you might have thought the Vols were catching the Yellow Jackets at the wrong time. His teams have been at their best as underdogs and have upended at least one nationally ranked opponent in each of the past four seasons.
Georgia Tech showed its resolve just when the Vols seemed blowout bound after taking a 31-10 lead early in the third quarter.
The Yellow Jackets sprung to life behind the passing of quarterback Alberto Mendoza, who led them 75 yards for a touchdown and had them on the brink of another score when UT defensive back Dejuan Lane broke up a fourth-down pass in the end zone.

During the September 3 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer mentioned Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for its unconventional approach to powering hyperscale data centers in partnership with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX). He said:
How about Microsoft? Look, Mr. Softee is getting religion. They've realized that by giving us more disclosure on Azure, their cloud infrastructure business, we'll find more things to like. They're right. In the end, I come to praise Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, not bury her. They've been very clever getting power for the data centers, pumping it right out of the Permian. They got this deal with Chevron as a partner… 2.67 gigawatts. No one's talking about it. It's the cleanest behind the meter plan for power I have seen yet. People even, and this is not a stretch, I'm not kidding, people even like Copilot.
CFO Amy Hood provided Wall Street with a much clearer look at actual cloud demand by breaking down detailed Azure growth metrics and data center capacity constraints. At the same time, enterprise adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot is moving past initial trials, with major corporations deploying the AI ***** istant across workforce segments.
A major highlight of the company's infrastructure strategy is a twenty-year agreement with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) for a proposed 2.67-gigawatt natural gas power plant in West Texas. Designed to supply dedicated off-grid electricity directly to a hyperscale data center in the Permian Basin, the project bypasses regional grid transmission queues to secure reliable power for continuous AI workloads. Microsoft Corporation's (NASDAQ:MSFT) president of Cloud Operations + Innovation, Noelle Walsh, commented:
Our agreement with Chevron helps ensure we'll have dedicated, large-scale power to support the evolution and reliability of advanced compute. Through this partnership, we're delighted to grow with and become a deeper part of the West Texas community.

Tapatío had a tough road test against Dorados on Matchday 8 of the Apertura 2026. After a hard-fought match, the Rojiblancos ended up falling 3-1 to the Sinaloa side.
Tapa opened the scoring in the opening minutes with a goal from Daniel Villaseca. However, the home team made the most of its chances to come from behind. Although the Rojiblancos kept pushing forward with different combinations, they were unable to close the gap on the scoreboard.
Now, the young Rebaño will have to turn the page and focus on its next home match, when it hosts Tlaxcala on September 20 for Matchday 9 of the Apertura 2026 in the Liga de Expansión.
The goals:
- What a play to score the opener! In the 8th minute, after a bold diagonal run from the final third, Leonardo Jiménez took the ball, got into the box, and delivered a pinpoint cross for Daniel Villaseca, who arrived to meet it with a great header and open the scoring.- In the 30th minute, the home side leveled the match with a goal by SebastiánCervantes.- The Sinaloa side took the lead in the 66th minute with a goal from Oscar Coronel.- In the 96th minute, Leonardo Vargas scored the final 3-1 of the match.

Dell Technologies (DELL) stock more than quadrupled over the past year, a 323% gain, against about 18% for the S&P 500, and even Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), up 130.6%, finished far behind. Management had described most of the drivers before the run began: customers sitting on old servers, AI orders that had outrun shipments earlier in the year, and costs falling while sales rose. Those signs could not tell you how far the stock would go.
What Was Dell Seeing In Its Customers' Data Centers?
In February 2025, management said customers still ran a very large base of Dell's 13th and 14th generation servers, ready to be replaced. AI demand, already under discussion then, was exceptionally strong by May 2025, with $12.1 billion of AI server orders in fiscal Q1 2026, more than Dell's AI server shipments for all of fiscal 2025.
In August 2025, management said over 70% of its installed base was running on 14th generation servers or older, and that one 17th generation server could replace six or seven old ones. The results were uneven. In fiscal Q2 2026, traditional server revenue rose again and international demand grew, but demand in North America, its most profitable region, was weak.
Why Were Dell's Costs Falling While Its Sales Rose?

PHOENIX (AP) — Ezequiel Duran had a two-run single and Wyatt Langford hit a solo homer during a six-run fifth inning to lead the Texas Rangers over the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Saturday night to even the three-game series.
The Rangers improved to 73-76 and are just two games back of the final American League wild card despite a sub-.500 record.
Arizona fell to 79-70 and is 1 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres for the final National League wild card.
The Rangers took advantage of a close replay call that went in their favor during the decisive fifth.
The D-backs thought they were out of the jam with the score tied at 1-all after turning an inning-ending double play, but first base umpire Bill Miller ruled Corey Seager safe at first, signaling that pitcher Brandon Pfaadt's foot was off the bag. Arizona challenged the call, but the video review proved inconclusive and Miller's call was upheld.

The Washington Huskies have a problem on offense.
Jedd Fisch's unit has now scored 40 points in their first two games combined, ten fewer points than the Huskies were favored to win those two games by (23.5 against Washington State, 26.5 against Utah State). Washington has finished with more than 350 yards of offense in both of those games, but has found itself completely unable to move the ball consistently or score points efficiently through the first two games.
Quarterback Demond Williams Jr. has struggled to throw the ball in rhythm, often opting to scramble and utilize his talent as a runner to keep the offense on track. Washington has needed that from him, too: Williams has been the Huskies' leading rusher in both games as the running back depth has been decimated by injuries to Jordan Washington, Quaid Carr, and Jayden Limar.
But there has also been opportunity for Williams to throw the ball more effectively. He's missed several what should have been easy throws in the flat and placed longer throws into the end zone out of reach of his receivers more often than he's found those plays. It hasn't been all on Williams, however: starting X receiver Christian Moss left after two snaps in the Apple Cup, and starting Z receiver Rashid Williams left early on Saturday against Utah State, thrusting true freshmen Jordan Clay and Trez Davis into action. Dezmen Roebuck and running back Trey Cooley both also dropped passes that could have easily been touchdowns on Saturday, further putting the offense behind schedule and making for a messy operation.
"As an offense, we shot ourselves in the foot a lot," Williams told the media after the game.

The Atlanta Falcons' quarterback situation has somehow become even more complicated ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The team announced on Saturday that quarterback Cooper Rush is dealing with back spasms. Despite the issue though, Rush remains on track to start against Pittsburgh.
Rush had already been pushed into the starting role after Tua Tagovailoa suffered an oblique injury during Thursday's practice and was ruled out for Week 1. Michael Penix Jr. is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered last season.
That leaves rookie Jack Strand as Atlanta's primary backup behind Rush. The undrafted quarterback has drawn plenty of interest from Falcons fans, with many hoping to eventually see what Strand can do in regular-season action. Rush remains the clear starter for now, but his back issues could make Strand's status worth monitoring throughout Sunday's game.

Toward the end of the lightning round on September 8, when a caller inquired about AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN), Mad Money host Jim Cramer commented:
Alright, now, AstraZeneca reminds me of a company, it's not unlike Novartis. I'm a little nervous about it. It's been missing some of its trials. I don't think COPD is enough to change my mind… I am not going to put my money on AstraZeneca.
AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN) maintains a solid financial foundation supported by steady top-line growth and disciplined cost management. In its second-quarter report, the company generated total revenue of $15.38 billion, marking a 6.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Adjusted earnings per share reached $2.63, outperforming ****** yst consensus estimates.
The profitability was driven by strong global demand for core oncology and rare disease treatments, which successfully offset revenue headwinds from generic competition affecting older blockbusters like Farxiga and Brilinta. With a net margin hovering around 17.02% and management reiterating its full-year guidance for mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth along with low double-digit core EPS expansion, the core business continues to demonstrate commercial resilience.
The primary driver behind the skepticism could be based on tangible execution risks and regulatory hurdles that threaten AstraZeneca PLC's (NYSE:AZN) long-term top line. A significant blow to the rare disease division came when anselamimab failed to achieve statistical significance for the primary endpoint in the overall AL amyloidosis population in the Phase III CARES program, although AstraZeneca reported encouraging results in a prespecified subgroup of patients with kappa light-chain amyloidosis.

October WTI crude oil (CLV26) on Friday closed down -2.43 (-2.37%), and October RBOB gasoline (RBV26) closed down -0.0860 (-2.53%).
Oct WTI oil prices on Friday fell back after Thursday's +6.7% rally to a 3.5-month high. Oil prices fell back after the International Energy Agency (IEA) on Friday warned that high oil prices and restricted oil supply will cause the biggest drop in global oil demand this year since the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the projected demand drop, the IEA raised its estimate for this year's global oil deficit to 1.7 million bpd from last month's 1.3 million bpd estimate due to the restricted supply caused by the US-Iran war. The IEA said the return of a global oil surplus will be delayed until 2027, later than its previous estimate of late 2026.

Boston Scientific (BSX) trades at about $43, roughly 17% below the recent high it set on 19th Aug, 2026. Its own history with sharp drops is encouraging. That history does not cover a cyberattack it says is likely to hit its 2026 results, and the stock is down about 60% over the past twelve months. Start with the history.
Since 2010, Boston Scientific has fallen 20% or more inside 30 trading days six times. Four are old enough to have a full year behind them, and all four ended higher twelve months later, at a median gain of 18%. The two most recent are too young to have a one-year result.
Collecting that gain was uncomfortable. Among those four, the median buyer sat through a further 17% decline first, and the worst further fall in the whole record was 44%. The median peak gain of 30% took about 226 days to arrive, close to seven and a half months. Waiting, not timing, is what that history rewards.
The record behind those medians is below.
BSX had 6 events since 1/1/2010 where the dip threshold of -20% within 30 days was triggered

All eyes are on the Fed with another higher than expected reading for core inflation. Jeff Klingelhofer, CFA, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager & Senior Research **** yst, Securitized **** ets at Aristotle Pacific, talks with host Brad Roth on this episode of Behind the Ticker about why the new Fed Chair stepping into an environment of high inflation matters for investors and bonds, and what that means for how the firm is positioning their strategies that include three new ETFs, the Aristotle Core Plus Income ETF (ARCP), the Aristotle Multi-Sector Income ETF (ARMS), and the Aristotle Short Term Income ETF (SDUR).
You can also watch this conversation here or on our YouTube, as well as find it on any of your preferred podcast streaming platforms.
A non-traditional path to fixed income: Jeff Klingelhofer started at PIMCO, moved through Tokyo and London, then took an unexpected detour into a five-person hedge fund during his Chicago MBA. That experience shaped his career trajectory, from building Thornburg's taxable fixed income desk from scratch to joining Aristotle Pacific in 2024.
The relative value philosophy: Instead of chasing yield by taking more risk within a single **** et class, Klingelhofer compares opportunities across all of fixed income, including corporates, ABS, CLOs, bank loans, and more. His go-to example: in 2020, an American Airlines corporate bond and its aircraft-backed EETC priced identically, but a month later one traded at 27 cents on the dollar while the other held at 65 cent, proof that siloed desks miss cross-market mispricing.
Three ETFs, one philosophy: Aristotle Pacific's new suite of SDUR (short-term income), ARCP (core plus), and ARMS (multi-sector income) applies this relative value lens across the risk spectrum, each targeting a different level of duration and credit exposure. All three aim to outperform passive benchmarks through active security selection rather than added risk.

At the end of Stage 1, the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series field filed down pit road for standard pit stops, but things quickly went very wrong.
On the narrow pit road, there was a check-up that led to Rajah Caruth and Nick Sanchez spinning. It was an accordion effect as cars piled in, pushing each other into the wreck.
Caruth's car clipped crew members of Brent Crews' No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing, who also narrowly avoided being crushed by Sanchez's out-of-control car. It was a truly frightening moment that could have resulted in severe injuries, but thankfully, everyone was okay.
That was such a close call for Bryan Backus on the rear of the No. 19.

So glad to see him get up. pic.twitter.com/duFSFNxVnz
Most of the field was trapped behind the accident scene, unable to move. NASCAR was forced to immediately red flag the race.

A $48 billion valuation and more than $2 billion in fresh venture capital would normally signal that investors have completely lost the plot.
Cognition AI, the startup behind the autonomous coding agent Devin, closed its Series E round on Sept. 8, 2026, to those exact headline figures.
The sheer size of the round drew immediate and predictable comparisons to the frothiest stretch of the 2026 AI investment cycle.
But the arithmetic behind the deal paints a different picture, one in which the ratio of investors' per-dollar revenue barely moved.
Between its May 2026 Series D and Series E close, Cognition's annualized run-rate revenue grew from $492 million to nearly $900 million, the company reported.

The UConn Huskies (1-1) struggled to stay above water in their 38-14 loss to the Maryland Terrapins (2-0).
Paving the way for Connecticut, quarterback Kalieb Osborne completed 10 of 21 (41.7%) passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne also led with 62 rushing yards, while running back Kenji Christian posted 21 yards. In the air, Shamar Porter paved the way with 62 receiving yards and an end zone appearance. JD Willoughby followed with 36 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, cornerback Zion Paret racked up 12 tackles (six solo) and K'Von Sherman tallied nine (four solo).
As for Maryland, Malik Washington landed 34 of 41 (82.9%) throws for 347 yards and two touchdowns. In the backfield, running backs Iverson Howard and Harry Dalton III rushed for 57 yards and crossed the goal line three times. At wide receiver, Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding led with 130 yards and a touchdown. Behind him, Chris Durr Jr. registered 103 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, linebackers Sidney Stewart and Carlton Smith recorded six tackles and Stewart earning a sack.
"There weren't any adverse moments in our first football game. This is a whole different animal," Head Coach Jason Candle said. "They were going to try and lean on us and run the ball down your throat; play up in the face of your receiver. They're going to play pressure-style defense and we're going to figure out how we're going to respond."
To kick off the game, UConn and Maryland traded end zone appearances. With just under five minutes remaining in the opening quarter, Connecticut struck first. After forcing a quick three-and-out, the Terrapins punted from their 14-yard line. Wide receiver Julian Allen's 18-yard return spotted the ball at Maryland's 32-yard line, but a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty backed it up to the 47-yard line.

Dodgers news: What impressed Dave Roberts most about Josue De Paula's MLB debut appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
While the Los Angeles Dodgers will be without Shohei Ohtani for at least the next few games, Dave Roberts and company have found a way to replace his spot in the lineup in a must-watch way, calling up star prospect Josue De Paula from Double-A to DH in his place.
Discussing what he saw from De Paula's debut against the Miami Marlins, Roberts noted that he was really impressed with the 21-year-old's pitch selection, as he looked like a professional hitter despite his inexperience.
"I was very impressed. I'm not sure or certain 100%, but I don't think he swung at a ball out of the hitting zone, and so that's really impressive," Roberts said. "So to offer at ***** in the strike zone, not chase at all, earn a walk, get behind and line the ball to left field, get count leverage, hit a ball hard to the first baseman, I thought it was a fantastic night for him."

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Yordan Alvarez was out of the Houston Astros' lineup for a second straight game due to a sore right ankle Saturday.
Alvarez turned his ankle running the bases Thursday in Philadelphia and was not used off the bench in a close game Friday against Tampa Bay. Manager Joe Espada said that he was hopeful Alvarez could return to the lineup for Sunday's finale against the Rays.
"He came out and moved around, hit in the cages, but still sore," Espada said before Saturday's game. "More when he swings the bat and he's got to turn that right ankle once he's going to spin. So it's still not there."
This marks the first time Alvarez has been out of Houston's lineup in back-to-back games this season. He started 145 of the team's first 147 games prior to Friday, with 123 starts at DH and 22 in left field.
Alvarez entered Saturday leading the majors with a 1.017 OPS. A Triple Crown candidate, he led qualified American League hitters with a .310 average and ranked second in home runs (38), after Junior Caminero (40) of the Rays, and second in RBIs (96), behind Pete Alonso (97) of the Orioles.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating defensive back Doneiko Slaughter to the active roster, the team announced on Saturday. Slaughter had a tremendous training camp and preseason with Pittsburgh and was one of the final cuts before being placed on the practice squad.
The only player to appear on the Steelers' injury report this week has been cornerback Joey Porter Jr, who continues to work his way back after missing all of training camp and preseason play. Porter was placed on the PUP list at the start of camp due to what the team said was a back injury, but the speculation is that it was a hold-in under the guise of an injury.

The White Sox beat the Cleveland Blues, 12-4, in Chicago to clinch the franchise's first pennant. (The American League would not be recognized as an official major league until 1901, however.) Roy Patterson got the win in the game.
The season seemed to set the tone for the franchise, with exceptional pitching and defense — and just enough hitting to win games. Cleveland manager Jimmy McAleer said as much after the Sox clinched against his club: "It's the strangest thing that ever happened. A club with no good batsman to win a flag! Why, such a thing was never heard of before. [Dick] Padden has done most of it. He has been the whole works, and has shown himself a born general. The pitchers did the rest, with special credit to that lad Patterson."
Brett Ballantini devoted an episode of South Side Sox's Flashback to this win, back in 2019.
1908
Ultimately, the White Sox did not prevail for the pennant, but don't say they didn't put up a fight. Arriving at Detroit's Bennett Park for a five-game set against the first-place Tigers and behind by three games, the White Sox won the opener, then played four consecutive extra-inning games to finish out the series, splitting them. On this day, the White Sox got back to just two games out with a 2-1 victory in 10 innings. Frank Smith not only went the distance for his 12th win on the season, he singled in the game-winner in the top of the 10th.
The White Sox continued a three-way fight for the pennant (with Cleveland as well), and the season came down to the last day, hosting Detroit. Had the White Sox not been blown out in the finale, they would have finished tied with (but percentage points ahead of) Cleveland and a half-game in front of the Tigers for the pennant.
