Detroit Lions first-round pick Blake Miller gained a reputation at Clemson for being an iron man. In three years in college, he didn't miss a single game, starting 54 consecutive contests.
When the Lions' injury report dropped on Monday, it appeared Miller's NFL streak could be broken after just one game. With only a walkthrough practice, Miller was estimated as a non-participant with a knee injury. And with Detroit on a short week—scheduled to play the Bills on the road this Thursday—it could be too quick of a turnaround to make the field.
However, the rookie right tackle spoke with the media after practice and sounded more optimistic about his chances of playing due to progress already made on Monday.
"I'm doing everything I humanly can to get my body feeling the best it can feel. Even with the progress just today that I've made, I'm happy, and I'm optimistic," Miller said.
Lions coach Dan Campbell said it was possible Miller could play vs. the Bills, but he was a little more cautious in his optimism.

UFC 331 has lost a main card fight.
Brian Ortega is out of his scheduled bout vs. Renato Moicano due to injury and will not be replaced, the promotion announced Monday, just five days before Saturday's event at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Instead, Moicano (21-7-1 MMA, 13-7 UFC) will now headline UFC Fight Night 292 vs. Tom Nolan (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC). The event takes place Oct. 31 at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
No official injury was revealed for Ortega (16-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC), however an Instagram story posted Sunday by Christian rapper Lecrae showed the UFC contender sporting what appeared to be some fairly significant damage around his left eye area.
The change marks the second time Ortega vs. Moicano 2 has been canceled in 2026. It was initially scheduled for March and Ortega withdrew due to injury. Moicano then fought Chris Duncan, who he submitted in Round 2.

On August 6, PureCycle Technologies (NASDAQ:PCT) reported second-quarter results for the period ended June 30, and buried in the numbers was something the plastics recycler has chased for years: an actual branded product on store shelves. Select Downy detergent caps made with PureCycle's PureFive resin entered commercial production for Procter & Gamble during the quarter, the first tangible sign the company's purification technology can clear a major consumer brand's supply chain. Revenue came in at $4.5 million, up roughly 173% from a year earlier and the sixth straight quarter of sequential growth.
The Downy win was not an isolated event. PureCycle said select Tide caps are scheduled for retail production in the third quarter, with Vicks ZzzQuil PURE Zzzs child-resistant lids targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. Seven customer conversions took place during the quarter, alongside six new commercial partnerships spanning closures, automotive, film, and food packaging, including Amcor, Motherson, and Innovia Films. Regulation is doing real work here too. New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection approved PureFive as post-consumer recycled content, a decision that arrives as the state's food contact exemption expires in January 2027 and its recycled content requirement climbs to 20%, while California's SB54 is already in effect.
Operationally, the Ironton facility's planned turnaround finished ahead of schedule and under budget, with more than 170 reliability and rate projects completed and inspections showing no corrosion on major equipment. On-site compounding, commissioned in April, is now running 24 hours a day, five days a week, with plans to expand to seven by the fourth quarter. PureCycle also picked up ISO 9001:2015 certification in May and closed the quarter with $236.9 million in total liquidity after a June capital raise.
The other side of the ledger is harder to ignore. PureCycle posted a net loss of $142.2 million for the quarter, and adjusted EBITDA actually widened to a loss of $31.7 million from a loss of $27.8 million a year earlier, a shift the company attributes to smaller non-cash addbacks rather than weaker operations. PureFive production fell to 4.5 million pounds for the quarter, a direct result of the planned turnaround, even though output was still up about 32% from a year ago. Growth is not coming cheap either. Full-year 2026 project spending guidance was raised to a range of $45 million to $50 million, up from the prior $39 million to $45 million.

On September 10, LightPath Technologies (NASDAQ:LPTH) reported fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year results that turned a multiyear strategic bet into a financial statement. Revenue nearly doubled for the year, margins expanded, and the company walked away from its last manufacturing ties to China. For a small-cap optics supplier that spent years explaining a strategy, this was the quarter the strategy started explaining itself.
Annual revenue climbed 92.7% to $71.7 million from $37.2 million, and the fourth quarter alone hit a record $21.2 million, up 73.8% year over year. That growth is not just volume. Full-year gross margin expanded to 36% from 27.2%, and the fourth quarter came in even higher at 39.4%, because ****** emblies, modules and cameras now make up 44% of annual sales instead of being sold as raw components.
CEO Sam Rubin said the shift reflects both a change in what LightPath sells and better execution on what it already made, noting every one of its four product groups improved margin for the year. Backlog finished at $110.9 million, up 197% from $37.4 million a year earlier, with $85.6 million of it scheduled for delivery within 12 months. Weeks after the fiscal year closed, the company booked another $24 million in counter-UAS orders, and some of those programs have already moved to monthly delivery cadences of tens of units.
LightPath also completed its exit from China, selling its subsidiary there for $4.5 million paid out over five years, leaving the company with no manufacturing footprint in a country that increasingly can't supply the defense primes it depends on. That matters because defense programs face a deadline this decade to source optics away from covered nations, and qualification cycles run two to three years, meaning the sourcing decisions being made now will determine who wins contracts in 2029 and 2030.
The company's fourth-quarter net loss narrowed to $4.1 million from $7.1 million a year earlier, but full-year operating expenses jumped to $45.5 million from $22 million, and $15.6 million of that was a noncash charge tied to G5 Infrared outperforming the earnout targets set at acquisition. Management called that charge mostly behind the business now that the final G5 payout has been accrued for January 2027, but it is a reminder that acquisition accounting can swing the income statement even when operations are healthy.

NHL rumors: Blue Jackets fans won't love Pierre LeBrun's Adam Fantilli update appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Members of the Columbus Blue Jackets are set to arrive for camp on September 16, with the first on-ice workouts scheduled for the next day. Earlier on Monday, the Blue Jackets added Cam Talbot to the team, bringing in another netminder for camp.
Still, there is one player on the roster who may not be on the ice on September 17. Adam Fantilli is still without a contract from the team, and talks with the restricted free agent are going slowly, according to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic.
"Adam Fantilli remained unsigned Monday ahead of Blue Jackets camp opening this week. The sides continue to talk, which is good, but there's a sizeable gap to overcome. 'Very slow' was how one source described things," LeBrun wrote. "That negotiation needs a positive uptick. The slowness certainly hasn't been for a lack of effort from either side this summer. There have been offers and counter-offers, but they're just not there yet."

On September 10, Tsakos Energy Navigation (NYSE:TEN) reported a first half of 2026 that reads like a fantasy year for a decades-old tanker operator. Net income hit $228 million, more than triple what the company earned over the same six months a year earlier, while diluted EPS climbed to $7.12 from $1.70. Behind those numbers sits a rare combination: a fleet locked into billions in forward earnings, war-driven cargo detours pushing rates higher, and a newbuilding bet that has already paid off before half the ships have even hit the water.
The earnings power came from two directions at once. The average time charter equivalent rate rose 41% to $43,503 a day in the first half, and profit-sharing contracts on nine large vessels brought in $71 million, up from just $10 million a year earlier. Even with six vessels pulled from service for scheduled dry docks, the fleet still ran at 96.5% utilization. Second-quarter results followed the same pattern, with net income of $139.3 million, which included a $38 million gain on ******* et sales, and earnings per share of $4.40 against $0.67 in last year's second quarter.
Tsakos is also sitting on a fleet renewal bet that already worked out. Since the start of 2023, the company has sold 20 tankers averaging 17.3 years old and replaced them with 35 vessels averaging just half a year old. Its 26-ship newbuilding program, contracted for about $3.1 billion, is now valued roughly 30% above that cost, and CEO Nikolas Tsakos said the VLCCs in that order book have nearly doubled in price since they were placed. With $466 million in cash and forward committed earnings of roughly $3.5 billion, management has room to raise its dividend, which already paid out $1.60 per share this year, and is weighing whether to redeem $120 million of 9.25% preferred shares, a move it estimates could add $0.30 to $0.40 to EPS.
That performance came against a backdrop the company would rather not have. President George Saroglou said vessels have been attacked, and seafarers hurt or killed trying to keep global trade moving through the Strait of Hormuz, where a ceasefire unraveled roughly halfway through its planned 60-day run and a US naval presence now tries to manage safe passage. Tsakos has chosen to route around the strait entirely rather than put crews through the toll those attacks take.
The cost side is climbing too. Bunker prices jumped about 25%, pushing first-half voyage expenses to $82 million from $68 million, and operating expenses rose to $111 million from $102 million on higher dry-docking costs and inflation. Total debt reached $2.1 billion at the end of June, up from $1.8 billion a year earlier, as the company finances its newbuilding program. And while profit-sharing revenue jumped, the operating days tied to those market-related contracts actually fell 22%, meaning a smaller slice of the fleet is left exposed to capture further spot-rate gains if the tanker market keeps running hot.

Major League Soccer has rescheduled FC Cincinnati's match against D.C. United for Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. ET at TQL Stadium.

Right before the D.C. doubleheader, Cincinnati will host archrival Columbus Oct. 18, then right after will play at Inter Miami Oct. 28.

Sept. 14 (UPI) -- The planned West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George has been delayed to 2028.
Empire Street Productions announced Monday that the musical "will no longer proceed as scheduled" in 2027, with the company to "retain the rights with a view to presenting the production in 2028."
The news follows word that Wicked co-stars Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey have dropped out of the production. Grande announced in August that she "will be taking a step back from visibility" after the conclusion of her Eternal Sunshine tour, with Bailey later confirming he has "decided to also step back" from the revival.
Sunday in the Park with George features music and lyrics by famed composer Stephen Sondheim. The musical, inspired by the Georges Seurat painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, debuted on Broadway in 1984 and on West End in 2006.
Marianne Elliot was to direct the West End revival, which was originally scheduled to open at London's Barbican Centre in summer 2027.

The Iowa State men's basketball team's trip to the Phog in March 2027 is going to get an even bigger spotlight.
The Cyclones are slated to make one appearance on ESPN's "Big Monday" during the upcoming season, when they go on the road to Phog Allen Fieldhouse to face the Kansas Jayhawks on March 1, 2027. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT in Lawrence.
ESPN started its "Big Monday" showcase in 1987. This season, beginning Feb. 1, 2027, ESPN will highlight some of the top matchups in the ACC and Big 12 through the final Monday of the regular season. The Iowa State-Kansas game at Allen Fieldhouse will round out the "Big Monday" slate for the 2026-27 season.
Last season, the Cyclones and Jayhawks split the regular-season series. Kansas won the first meeting at Allen Fieldhouse, 84-63, on Jan. 13. The Cyclones comfortably evened the series with a 74-56 victory on Feb. 14 at Hilton Coliseum.
Kansas is coming off of a 24-11 season. It lost on a buzzer-beater in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to St. John's. The Jayhawks reloaded through the transfer portal and secured the No. 1 overall high school recruit. Freshman 6-foot-7 wing Tyran Stokes was the consensus top recruit for the 2026 class and he's already on the top of several 2027 NBA mock drafts.

Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA)'s long-idled Belvidere ******* embly Plant in Illinois has been a case study for how a plant reopening can be pushed further into the future. The plant has been dormant since February 2023, when Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) ended the Jeep Cherokee production and laid off over 1,300 employees. A 2027 production target for Belvidere has now shifted, with Stellantis targeting pilot production of the next-generation Cherokee in the first half of 2028 and retail production in the second half of 2029, even as Stellantis portrays the news as a larger investment rather than a delay.
Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) announced an increase in its Belvidere investment to more than $800 million, up from a previous commitment of $600 million or more, and confirmed that the plant will produce the next-generation Jeep Cherokee on its new STLA One platform, the first vehicle built in the US on that modular design, which the company claims will improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
However, according to UAW Local 1268 president Matt Frantzen, citing internal records and talks with company executives, the updated schedule pushes pilot production into the first half of 2028, while retail production is not targeted to begin until the second half of 2029, roughly two years later than Stellantis' previous 2027 initial-production target.
The Belvidere news is a grave situation developing north of the border. Unifor, the Canadian union that represents Detroit Three autoworkers, stated that Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) has signed an MOU with Canadian armored-vehicle maker Roshel outlining a potential sale of its Brampton, Ontario ******* embly plant, which has been idle since 2023. According to union president Lana Payne, Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) has yet to provide the official year's notice required by the collective agreement. Payne described it as a "lose-lose scenario," claiming Stellantis' 2023 commitment to keep Brampton staffed had been broken.
The two stories are directly related. Brampton had been scheduled to build the Jeep Compass, with retooling beginning in early 2024 before Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) paused it in 2025 and then, that October, moved Compass manufacturing to the US completely, the same reassignment that sent the model to Belvidere.

Lil Durk remains in jail despite his Friday acquittal.
On 11 September, a Los Angeles federal jury found the rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, not guilty of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot that resulted in the death of a man in Los Angeles four years ago.
Prosecutors have confirmed he will remain in custody until his racketeering case, tied to the 2022 shooting death of Stephon Mack, is also resolved. That second trial on racketeering murder and firearms charges is scheduled for 5 October.
Longtime nemesis and fellow rapper 6ix9ine found a way to throw shade at Durk despite Chicago rapper's win in court.
6ix9ine had planned to throw a 'Lil Durk Going Away Party' in the event of a guilty verdict, and still held a celebration of sorts.
Posting a video on Instagram of him letting off fireworks and popping champagne, he reacted to the decision while mocking Durk about his deceased brother, Dontay 'DThang' Banks, and rapper King Von, who was signed to Durk's label, Only the Family.

DIVO's trailing yield overstates its committed forward rate by 30%, built on discretionary year-end specials the fund has never guaranteed to repeat.
DIVO, DGRO, and MAIN all show gaps between trailing and forward income, inflating the look-back for most of the portfolio's weight.
Duke Energy and Southern Company, the smallest 5% positions, are the only holdings with predictable scheduled dividend raises a retiree can count on to the penny.

Replacing $8,600 a month, or roughly $103,200 a year, with portfolio income at age 61 sounds pretty straightforward on paper. But here's the catch: the biggest holding in a popular seven-fund income sleeve is the one whose payout the fund has never actually promised.

On Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, shares of electric-car maker Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) rose almost 6% to close at a record $695. More than 200 million shares changed hands that session (more than $131 billion of stock), making it one of the busiest trading days in the company's history.
The buying wasn't optional for everyone. S&P Dow Jones Indices had scheduled Tesla to join the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) at its full weight before the market opened the following Monday. And the addition was based on that Friday's closing prices. In other words, every fund tracking the index effectively paid $695.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Nearly six years later, that $10,000 would have become about $15,700. The same money in an S&P 500 index fund would have grown to about $20,500 before dividends.

Most college football non-conference games involving FBS teams have the home team paying the visiting team a negotiated appearance fee at some point in the months afterward. Such payouts tend to draw attention when an FCS team upsets an FBS team and receives a seven-figure payment along with it.
But nearly all the Texas Tech football non-conference games have game guarantees, too. Counting last week's season opener against Abilene Christian, the Red Raiders have 18 non-conference games scheduled through 2034, only one without an appearance fee.
Texas Tech is due $300,000 for its game against Oregon State on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. The Oregon State payment to Tech is due by Dec. 31, according to the contract. The game is the second of a two-game series in which the Red Raiders routed the Beavers last year in Lubbock. Tech paid Oregon State $300,000 after that game.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz joined the set of ESPN's "College GameDay" on Saturday morning in Austin to push landmark legislation to regulate college sports ahead of the Texas Longhorns' highly anticipated matchup with the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
He did not receive a warm welcome.
Cruz, clad in a burnt orange blazer, was consistently booed by the raucous crowd of Longhorns faithful throughout his nine-minute interview, with fans breaking into chants of "Ted, you suck" and "Get him off."
He did not acknowledge the jeers, which came on a campus that gave the senator less than 20% of the vote in his 2024 re-election. The Chronicle has reached out to Cruz's office.
Cruz was in attendance to push the Protect College Sports Act, a bill he co-authored with Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Washington. The legislation is scheduled for a vote in the Senate next week.

Lil Durk has been cleared of every charge in the federal murder-for-hire trial that drew packed courtrooms, celebrity spectators and crowds of supporters to downtown Los Angeles.
A federal jury found the 33-year-old Chicago rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, not guilty on September 11 after three days of deliberations. The case centered on an August 2022 attack targeting rapper Quando Rondo that instead killed Rondo's 24-year-old cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, according to The ******* ociated Press.
Prosecutors accused Durk of financing and directing the attack in retaliation for the 2020 killing of his close friend Dayvon "King Von" Bennett. Durk's lawyers argued that former ******* istant Kavon Grant organized the plot without the rapper's knowledge and attacked the credibility of cooperating witnesses who had reached plea agreements with the government.
Durk was not released after the verdict. He remains in federal custody because he faces a separate trial involving murder-related racketeering and firearms allegations, with jury selection currently scheduled to begin October 5.
Durk had faced five counts: conspiracy to commit stalking, stalking using a dangerous weapon, stalking resulting in death, conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death and use of interstate commerce facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.

Kansas State (1-0) takes on Washington State (0-1) in the first ever meeting between the schools. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 AM on Fort Riley Day at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and the game will be broadcast on TNT. As usual, all these details and much more can be found in Jon Morse's How To Watch post.
In the opener for both teams, Wazzu lost to Washington 24-10 in a much-too-early edition of the Apple Cup. Wazzu struggled on offense, though the score might have been closer if not for a couple of missed field goals and a couple of interceptions by transfer QB Cade Pinnick. Washington State's defense definitely had its moments, however. If you're like me, you probably missed the game in its entirety. Luckily, we have Drew Schneider on hand to break it all down.
The general gist seems to be that Wazzu may not be the best team on the Wildcats' schedule this year, but Kansas State overlooks the Cougars at its own peril. As Collin Klein himself noted, Pinnick can do some damage with his legs and K-State's defense seemed ever-so-slightly suspect against the run in the blowout win over Nicholls. There's also Wazzu's defense to consider, which managed to get a key 4th down stop on the goal line against Washington, thanks to stalwarts like Keith Brown, a linebacker who missed all of last season with injury and is now the teammate's de facto standard bearer.
I don't pay a lot of attention to fan Q&As, but there are some interesting tidbits in Kellis Robinett's weekly mailbag, including that Klein's recruiting philosophy is that every player is merely leasing a roster spot until someone beats them out of it. Competition is constant is apparently CK's mantra. See? There is only football.

Afghanistan are about to make history as they are for the first time, a team will technically host India on Indian soil, with all three matches scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Afghanistan have been playing their home international fixtures in India for several years, using venues in Lucknow, Dehradun and Greater Noida to host matches against various opponents. But they've never done it against India itself until now.

India's search for consistency in T20I cricket will continue with a three-match series against Afghanistan, but the team's batting combination could once again come under scrutiny, particularly with vice-captain Tilak Varma's role yet to appear fully settled.
India, led by Shreyas Iyer, endured a difficult run following their second consecutive T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year. The team lost all six of its T20Is against Ireland and England before finally putting together a 3-0 clean sweep against Zimbabwe.
The Afghanistan series begins on September 13 (Saturday), with India also scheduled to play a historic T20I against ******* an before featuring in the Asian Games 2026.
With several established batters competing for places, former South Africa star AB de Villiers believes India could face a selection headache, particularly when it comes to deciding where Tilak Varma fits into the batting order.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, de Villiers pointed to the number of batting options available to India and questioned how the team would accommodate its vice-captain.
"There will definitely be some selection issues with regard to the batters. Obviously, Shreyas, captain, Ishan Kishan, Samson, Sooryavanshi, and then there are all-rounders, Tilak Varma; I think that's where the balance is quite tricky. Where will he bat?" de Villiers said.
Tilak's recent numbers also underline why his position could become a talking point.
Since the 2026 T20 World Cup, the left-hander has scored 255 runs from 10 innings at a strike rate of 159.36, with three scores of 50 or more. However, the numbers need some context. One of those half-centuries came during the recent Zimbabwe series, while another was scored in the fifth T20I against England, by which point India had already conceded the series.
His overall returns therefore look stronger in isolation than his performances across the entire period suggest. Tilak endured a particularly difficult run during India's tour of the UK, and his inconsistency has remained a concern despite the occasional big score. That makes his position in India's batting order an even bigger talking point ahead of the Afghanistan series.
The presence of Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gives India several batting options, while the team also has to factor in its all-rounders.
For de Villiers, the challenge is not simply about selecting the strongest players but finding a combination in which every batter has a clearly defined role.
He believes India have enough quality in their squad to deal with Afghanistan, but stressed that clarity will be particularly important against a side he considers dangerous.
"Really, really strong squad, but the balance will be tricky to figure out. It is T20 cricket, so they can play around with the squad a little bit. There are different roles, but the role clarification will still be incredibly important for India, as
