Russell Brand appeared in court with his wife, Laura, ahead of his upcoming rape and ****** ual ****** ault trial. The comedian, who denied the charges, faced allegations from six women over a 10-year period between 1999 and 2009.
The case involved seven charges in total: three counts of rape, three charges of ****** ual ****** ault and one allegation of indecent ****** ault. Brand pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which related to allegations involving six women.
According to Metro, Brand arrived at Southwark Crown Court with Laura and a security guard for the first of two pre-trial hearing days. Laura wore a yellow suit and sunglasses, while Brand wore a grey suit, black trousers, a collarless shirt and brown boots, along with sunglasses. The couple did not speak as they entered the court.
Meanwhile, his trial was scheduled to begin on Monday, October 12, and could continue for up to 10 weeks. Brand remained on bail as the criminal proceedings moved forward.
Brand pleaded not guilty in February. As he arrived at court at the time, he told Sky News that he was feeling "blessed" and carried a blue book bearing the words "Holy Bible," with post-it notes attached inside.
