The people — and animals — in Georgia junior running back Nate Frazier's life are a crucial part of his journey and have taught him everything he knows.
His dad, Nathaniel Frazier Sr., who died in March, and his mother, Yomeshia Moore. His coaches and his teammates. Even the French Bulldog named Dane that he adopted in the midst of spring practice.
"They've been here every step of the way," Frazier said.
Buy tickets for Georgia football's home opener vs. Tennessee State
Every single coach has either sent Frazier a text message or pulled him to the side to talk face-to-face and try and find any possible way to help him mentally. The Dawgs don't, and won't, let one of their own walk around the facility with its head down. It's one of the main reasons he came to Georgia. It's not just about football; it's a big family.

Dolly Parton's legacy of kindness and giving is being celebrated in many ways around the world following her death. One new fundraiser is putting her spirit of generosity front and center for dog lovers, providing much-needed meals for shelter dogs.
iHeartDogs, a company dedicated to helping dogs around the world, is selling a line of pink Dolly-inspired T-shirts. Each shirt purchased from the Do Good Like Dolly Collection provides 10 meals for shelter dogs, with 100% of the remaining proceeds going to The Dollywood Foundation.
5 of the 8 shirts in the collection feature the names of two of Dolly Parton's most well-known songs: "I Will Always Love You" and "A Coat of Many Colors." The other 3 shirts honor the late country music icon with the campaign slogan "Do Good Like Dolly."
The campaign celebrates Dolly's endless spirit of giving by saying, "Dolly Parton filled the world with kindness, sparkle, and a whole lot of heart. Her love for others—and her love of dogs—made the world a brighter place." The shirts range in price from $15.99 to $21.99, and can be purchased through the iheartdogs.com website.
Dolly's love for animals wasn't just something that showed up in the occasional photo or song. In 2022, she launched Doggy Parton, a line of dog apparel, toys, and accessories inspired by her signature style. A portion of the proceeds benefited Willa B. Farms, a Nashville-based animal rescue organization.

Several baby goats at a mobile petting zoo in North Carolina were infected with rabies, and authorities are asking anyone who had contact with the animals to reach out to health officials. Rabies can be deadly if people don't receive treatment before symptoms begin.
Residents in western North Carolina may have had contact with the infected goats from Farm Adventures at the mobile petting zoo's location in Harmony or at off-site events between July 28 and August 27, local officials said in a statement.
Farm Adventures is based in Iredell County and books events in surrounding communities, and officials say the owner has been cooperating with the investigation.
"There is not a broad risk to the public — only those who attended events at the mobile petting zoo and were in close contact with the goats are at risk," officials said, asking residents to call their local health department for a rabies risk ***** sment and potential treatment.
"Residents should not wait for symptoms before calling," Mecklenburg County Health Director Dr. Kimberly Scott said.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the pop star is fully enjoying her role as a new wife. Taylor Swift is focusing on simple daily pleasures and staying close to Travis Kelce. Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) entered 2026 as a leader in animal health, but its latest earnings show that even a strong market position cannot fully insulate the company from weaker consumer demand. Fiscal Q2 2026 revenue remained flat at $2.5 billion and declined 1% on an organic operational basis, as pressure in the U.S. companion-animal market offset growth in livestock and international markets.
The quarter therefore presents investors with two different versions of Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS), as an established companion-animal business facing near-term pressure and a diversified animal-health platform still investing in its next generation of products.
Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) diversification provided an important source of resilience during the quarter. Livestock revenue increased 12% on a reported basis, supported by cattle and poultry products. In the United States, livestock sales grew 23% on both a reported and organic operational basis in the quarter, benefiting from favorable beef-cattle economics, supply timing, and increased poultry-vaccine sales **** ociated with disease outbreaks.
International performance was also encouraging. Revenue outside the United States rose 8% on a reported basis and 6% organically to $1.2 billion. International companion-animal sales grew 5% organically, supported by parasiticides such as Simparica Trio, Revolution and Stronghold, as well as diagnostics and newer osteoarthritis treatments. This geographic contrast demonstrates that the weakness was not uniform across Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) business. Demand for its products remains healthy in several markets, even as U.S. pet owners become more price-sensitive.
However, innovation could provide another route back to growth, as Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS) says that its pipeline contains more than 12 potential blockbuster candidates across chronic kidney disease, oncology, cardiology, anxiety, and obesity. The company also launched Lenivia and Portela, long-acting osteoarthritis treatments offering dogs and cats up to three months of pain relief from one injection.

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (AP) — A lip-licking alligator, a smiling moose and a hat-wearing bear are among the many cartoon animals to have found themselves in the crosshairs of Buc-ee's, the popular Texas convenience store chain that has a penchant for protecting its buck-toothed beaver.
But now Buc-ee's has set off a Buckeye backlash across Ohio and beyond after taking on a beaver in the city of Beavercreek.
It's yet another Buc-ee's Ltd. trademark infringement lawsuit. Supporters of Beaver's Mini Mart have attacked Buc-ee's online and boycotted the stores, and the mini mart's home city passed a resolution making the beaver an official part of its history. British comedian John Oliver has even weighed in on the kerfuffle.
On an episode of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," the comedian detailed Buc-ee's aggressive history of trademark lawsuits targeting various woodland creatures and launched a website hawking merchandise bearing a knockoff "Buc-off" logo and a squirrel mascot named Mr. Nutterbutter. On X, #boycottbucees trended.
Buc-ee's sued Beaver's Mini Mart in late July, four months after the chain known for its extensive food offerings and massive restrooms opened its first Ohio store less than a half-hour's drive away.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Near the foyer of the new joint training facility for the WNBA's Portland Fire and the NWSL's Portland Thorns is an expansive set of lighted shelves enclosed by glass.
It's the trophy case, "soon to be filled," said Lisa Bhathal Merage, who owns both teams with her brother Alex Bhathal.
The $150 million performance center is the first purpose-built for a pair of professional women's teams in different sports. The official ribbon-cutting is Saturday, but the teams got a look at the luxe facility earlier in the week.
The 12-acre campus includes two full-sized outdoor soccer fields and a 17,000-square-foot gymnasium that houses a pair of basketball courts, along with a weight room, locker rooms for both teams and conference rooms.
But the details make the facility unique. There are two nursing and changing rooms for players who are parents, and even a nursery fully stocked with toys and stuffed animals.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump announced Friday that his administration will allow more beef to be temporarily imported into the U.S. without triggering higher tariffs, as he remains under pressure to cut costs and address affordability issues ahead of November's midterms.
Beef prices have climbed to record highs amid a sharp drop in the number of U.S. cattle, consistent consumer demand and limits on cattle from Mexico, where the animals are facing a flesh-eating pest. The U.S. president has also imposed 50% tariffs on Brazil, a major beef exporter.
The president's plan, however, drew immediate skepticism from agricultural experts and backlash from cattle ranchers and conservative rural-state Republicans. Ranchers, normally some of the president's biggest supporters, are enjoying some rare profitable years and worry cheap beef imports will reduce cattle prices — and with it, the incentive to increase herd sizes.
"We all want lower grocery prices, but as I've said for months, we cannot do it at the expense of American producers," Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., said in a statement. "Flooding the market with foreign beef hurts our livestock industry and undermines the long-term solution: growing the U.S. cattle herd to meet demand."
Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., said in a social media post just hours after Trump's announcement that the president's "heart is in the right place," but importing beef will "harm our ranching families who feed the nation."

OG Anunoby is a Knicks legend. Etched forever in franchise lore and the hearts of fans. In the critical Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the 29-point comeback against the Spurs that was the stuff of legend and set the course of the Finals, Anunoby scored 33 points, including the game-winning tip-in. NBC Sports spoke to Anunoby this week.
Editor's note: OG Anunoby discussed several topics, including his contributions to ending the New York Knicks' 53-year ***** le drought, in an interview through his partnership with Royal Canin and VCA Animal Hospitals. Anunoby, a cat lover, has worked with the organizations to raise awareness for rescue cats available for adoption, and to donate to shelters across the country. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
NBCSports.com: We saw the celebration in the streets of New York, which I think might still be going on, and we also saw the celebration with the champagne spraying in the locker room. We kind of saw you accidentally go live [on Instagram in that moment]. Were you surprised when you went live, like how viral that went? And more importantly, did your phone survive all the champagne spray?
Anunoby: Yeah, my phone ended up being all good. Was I surprised that it went viral? Kind of. I mean, there's a lot of people in it in like a short time in the live. Yeah, I don't go live like ever, I'm not good at that. But now I talked to some people, taught me how to go live. So next time it won't go like that.
NBCSports.com: Obviously, it was a wild summer with the parade and everything in New York, but you guys were able to get together for Karl-Anthony Towns' wedding. How was the second biggest wedding of the year, and how was it being able to get together with your teammates, kind of more out of that spotlight?

In the second quarter, the Baron Focused Growth Fund achieved a 13.26% gain, still trailing the Russell 2500 Growth Index's 24.02% return. The underperformance was driven by ongoing concerns about AI's impact on portfolio businesses and underexposure to AI infrastructure. The IPO of ****** eX provided a boost, but overall, the Fund's companies are generating robust revenue growth and strengthening margins through enhanced client engagement and product offerings. Many stocks remain historically undervalued, and companies are beginning accelerated share repurchases, bolstering investor confidence. The Fund is perceived as compelling, benefiting from favorable market conditions and strong balance sheets, while inflation and interest rates are expected to remain stable. The Fund has outperformed its Benchmark over the past 3, 5, and 10 years, showing significant excess returns with lower market risk, attributed to a research-driven investment approach. The Fund maintains a commitment to long-term investing in growth-oriented businesses, utilizing a balanced portfolio to mitigate risk and potentially enhance returns. Please review the Fund's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Baron Focused Growth Fund highlighted IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX). IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX) develops, manufactures, and distributes products for the companion animal veterinary, livestock and poultry, dairy, and water testing industries. Brown Brothers Harriman, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "BBH Select Mid Cap ETF". A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, the fund increased 9.7% on a total return basis compared to the Russell Midcap Index's 13.8% return. Artificial intelligence is a key factor influencing market performance, with high-valuation and high-beta companies consistently outperforming others. The portfolio saw gains from being overweight in technology and industrials but missed opportunities due to underweighting more cyclical stocks. At the end of Q2 2026, the Fund held positions in 27 companies, with 48% of ***** ets concentrated in the top 10 holdings. The Fund's strategy focuses on companies priced below intrinsic value to ensure a margin of safety, rather than on whether valuations are high or low. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, BBH Select Mid Cap ETF highlighted Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR). Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) is a leader in converting edible and inedible bio-nutrients to sustainable natural ingredients. On August 19, 2026, Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) closed at $66.94 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $10.56 billion. Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) posted a one-month return of 5.58%, while its shares gained 110.37% over the past 52 weeks.
BBH Select Mid Cap ETF stated the following regarding Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The Fund's largest detractors to performance in the quarter were Guidewire Software Inc. (Guidewire) and Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE:DAR). Darling returned -11.7% during the quarter, ending with a weight of 4.0% after trimming the position early in the quarter on strength. Darling is the global leader in rendering animal byproducts and used cooking oil into fats and proteins for a variety of end uses, including animal feed, specialty health products, and renewable diesel through a joint venture with Valero called Diamond Green Diesel (DGD). Darling reported stronger than expected first quarter 2026 results, driven by better performance in the core Feed and Food segments, as well as stronger margins at DGD. Notwithstanding lower oil prices at quarter- end, Darling is extremely well-positioned for significantly improved profitability, with long-awaited certainty on government mandates finalized at the end of first quarter 2026, which will support both margins at DGD and higher Feed prices. These end markets are further benefiting from higher prices as a result of the recent conflict in the Middle East. The full benefit of recent development will start to be apparent in second quarter 2026."

Hayden Panettiere's final PETA ad has been released, just days after her sudden death. The campaign, filmed only two weeks before she passed away, shows the actor confined to a bathtub to protest marine parks like SeaWorld. The campaign video now stands as a lasting tribute to her animal rights advocacy. PETA shared the ad on August 18, confirming the shoot took place shortly before Panettiere died at age 36.
The PETA ad has Panettiere making an emotional plea for dolphins and orcas held in captivity. She speaks directly to viewers while lying in a bathtub, visually representing the cramped tanks marine mammals endure at entertainment parks. "Can you imagine their frustration, their trauma, their depression? All that is important and crucial for their well-being is ripped away … We can end this. You and me," Panettiere says in the clip.
She continues describing what ocean life offers these animals: family bonds, deep dives to escape heat, and rain on their backs. All of that disappears when they are placed in small tanks. The campaign also includes a photo ad featuring Panettiere in the bathtub. Behind-the-scenes from that shoot are also featured in the released video.
PETA accompanied the video with a statement honoring her commitment. "Hayden Panettiere became a household name playing a hero on TV, but in real life she was a hero to animals," the organization wrote. They urged supporters to honor her memory by refusing to buy tickets to marine parks.
Panettiere's father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed his daughter's passing on Sunday. Authorities reported no signs of foul play. The actor left behind a career spanning television, film, and video games, along with a legacy of vocal animal advocacy that this final PETA ad now preserves.

Worlds collided last month when the Tennessee ******* ans sideline mascot T-Rac hit it off with a real-life raccoon while on set photographing his new look.
Nashville's National Football League team first unveiled its new logo, uniform, and official colors in spring 2026, and a few months later, T-Rac's rebrand came. Instead of brown fur and bright blue eyes, he now has more realistic gray fur and a friendlier gaze. As part of the promo photoshoot that took place in July, the ******* ans extended an invite to Gizzard, one of the raccoons at Nashville-based wildlife rescue Vermin Sanctuary.
"Obviously she took the ******* ignment very seriously," Vermin Sanctuary founder Kara Kirkland said in a social media post. "Raccoons are Tennessee's state wild animal, and getting to pair Gizzard with a character that so many Tennesseans already know and love is such a special opportunity to get people excited about our native wildlife. We want people to learn how to peacefully coexist with their wild neighbors, what to do if they find a critter that might need help, and why the wild should remain in the wild."
Kirkland started the nonprofit rescue during the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of taking in injured or orphaned animals, rehabilitating them, and releasing them back into nature in the proper manner. She specializes in raccoons, opossums, and other "misunderstood species," and since the start, she's saved dozens of animals across Tennessee.
Gizzard, T-Rac's newest friend, is working as an educational ambassador for the nonprofit, raising awareness about what to do if you encounter a wild animal that may need help.

DAKAR, Aug 11 (Reuters) - The ongoing Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo concerns a previously unseen ‌variant of the rare Bundibugyo species of the virus, ‌indicating it stemmed from a new transmission from animals to humans rather than from variants linked to earlier outbreaks, a new study said.
• Researchers from Congo, Uganda, Belgium and other countries ******* ysed the genetic make-up of virus samples from 22 patients in Congo ‌and Uganda and found the outbreak strain was genetically distinct from previous Bundibugyo Ebola viruses seen in outbreaks in 2007 and 2012.
• The findings, published on Monday in the journal Nature Medicine, suggest the outbreak began with a fresh animal-to-human transmission event and was then spread between people.
• The study did ‌not identify the animal source of the outbreak, but Ebola viruses are known to spill over periodically from infected animals to humans.
• The genetic ******* ysis helped confirm that cases detected in Uganda were linked to the outbreak in Congo.

The relative weakness was driven mainly by underexposure to semiconductors and technology hardware, while software, cloud services, and financial holdings also weighed on performance. The strategy benefited from holdings in areas tied to AI infrastructure, with semiconductor exposure and AI-related investments gaining from strong demand. Looking ahead, Brown Advisory sees an attractive environment for active stock-picking, with its ready-to-buy list at its highest level since the COVID-19 period and an estimated 12%-13% average five-year base-case IRR, while maintaining a focus on quality, valuation discipline, and long-term cash-flow generation. (NYSE:ZTS) stock closed at approximately $77.27 per share, with a market capitalization of about $30.02 billion.
Brown Advisory Global Leaders Strategy Fund stated the following regarding Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
We exited Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) in May. We were attracted to the investment due to its position as the largest pure-play animal health company, benefiting from significant scale in R&D and as the highest-quality marketer to veterinarians and livestock producers, which increases switching costs. The company had further shifted its business mix meaningfully toward a higher and more profitable contribution from its companion animal segment. Our investment in Zoetis began to face increased growth headwinds in 2025 due to incremental competition in its industry-leading dermatology and Simparica Trio products. Additionally, the launch of Librela—the first available therapy for osteoarthritis pain in dogs—underperformed our expectations. Furthermore, we have observed increased competition across Zoetis's main franchises and, most recently, Zoetis also saw generic competition in therapeutic categories. Several concerns have emerged: (1) despite the high barriers to entry in animal health, competition in the sector has intensified during our ownership; (2) we do not have enough visibility on their pipeline to ***** s the path of future contribution at this point; and (3) we

MAUMELLE, Ark. (AP) — A high school football player in Arkansas had every right to be rattled after finding a venomous snake inside his helmet during practice.
The Maumelle High student felt unusual movement inside his headgear following warmups last week and brought his helmet to an ******* istant coach for inspection. A slithering, 2-foot cottonmouth was discovered behind some padding.
The pit viper was so reluctant to exit the helmet that police officers had to pour water into it to force the snake out and into a bag. Animal services technicians arrived a few minutes later, identified the snake as a deadly cottonmouth and took it to a wooded area far from the school.
Cottonmouths are the second-most venomous snakes found in Arkansas.
Animal services director Chris Davis said the player wore the helmet for nearly an hour and was fortunate he wasn't bitten.

As the football season quickly approaches, high school teams across Arkansas are ramping up their practices in preparation for the upcoming games. In a scary turn of events, one Maumelle High School player discovered he had been unknowingly sharing his helmet with a dangerous reptile for more than an hour during an August practice session.
The player from Maumelle High School had been practicing with a cottonmouth, one of the most venomous snakes native to Arkansas, nestled in the padding of his helmet.
The snake went undetected throughout drills until the player noticed persistent discomfort and alerted the coaching staff. Upon closer inspection, the coaches were stunned to find the two-foot-long Cottonmouth coiled inside the helmet lining.
Cottonmouth snakes possess potent venom that, if bitten, can cause intense pain, swelling, and tissue damage. Although deaths are uncommon, prompt medical treatment is essential to prevent lasting tissue loss or scarring.
Maumelle Animal Services responded to the scene and carefully extracted the cottonmouth from the helmet without incident. The snake was safely relocated to a wooded area far from the school grounds.
