There was no mistaking the message being emphasized to the Ohio State men's basketball team.
Starting with a July 20 practice, the Buckeyes were spending a full week focusing on one side of the court. It's the end where opponents have gotten what they have mostly wanted for the past several seasons, and it was the primary focal point as coach Jake Diebler looked ahead to a looming exhibition trip to Puerto Rico.
Defense topped the plans, an emphasis that even carried over to the weight room.
"At any moment, (Diebler) makes us drop down, get in a stance and hold it," guard Curtis Givens III said after a July 21 practice. "This week we're just trying to get better at defense and understanding our defensive concepts better."
That emphasis is not just for the two games the Buckeyes will play in Puerto Rico. It wasn't until the end of the week that Ohio State even got copies of the rosters for its forthcoming foes.

SubwayTakes creator Kareem Rahma and writer and artist Karina Muslimova are married!

The popular social media creator, known for his viral interview series that takes place on New York City subways, tied the knot with his longtime love in a New York City wedding ceremony on June 27, after first meeting on Hinge in 2021, per Vogue.

Together, the pair share a daughter, Sufi, whom they welcomed in 2024. It was on a trip to Puerto Rico during the family's first Mother's Day with their daughter that Rahma asked Muslimova to marry him — though the couple was initially unsure if they wanted to get married traditionally at all.

"At the beginning of our relationship, we weren't even sure we wanted one. We used to joke that, in a world full of husbands and wives, we'd still be calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend well into our 80s," Muslimova told the outlet.

Evan Brock, basketball was not only a way to earn money, but also the means that molded him into a disciplined and hardworking person. He graduated from the University of Alabama and went on to develop a successful career in professional basketball. Evan Brock played for the NBA team Atlanta Hawks and, for many years, played basketball around the world, including the Dominican Republic, Argentina, South Korea, Thailand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Indonesia, and many other countries.
All the experience he gained from playing abroad allowed him to see different playing styles, coaches' strategies, and cultures. This experience allows him to become familiar with how to develop athletes.
Having moved to different places, Evan learned that success is not guaranteed by talent alone.
This knowledge is helpful now that Evan is retired from playing, as he ******* ists athletes with both the business and personal aspects of playing professionally.

Miles Russell is making his seventh PGA Tour start this week at the ISCO Championship July 9-12 at the Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, Ky.
If the 17-year-old from Jacksonville Beach keeps stacking good finishes ― Russell made the cut in the U.S. Open and the Puerto Rico Open and tied for 15th in the Korn Ferry Tour Club Car Championship for his highest finish in 13 professional starts ― will he ever get to Florida State, where he's scheduled to enroll in the fall of 2027?
However, there are yet to be any signs of impatience on his part to fast-track his career to professional golf.
At a news conference on July 8 after playing in the pro-am, Russell talked more about learning from the example of the players in his group for the first two rounds, Jackson Koivun (who played three years at Auburn) and Ben James (four years at Virginia).

DETROIT — Detroit Tigers third base coach Joey Cora left the club in the middle of his third season on the job because of what manager A.J. Hinch described as “philosophical differences.”
“I know that news is going to be surprising to a lot of people,” Hinch said. “I love Joey. Joey loved being a Tiger. He’s been instrumental in his time here. But similar to a family, sometimes it doesn’t last forever.
“We both just agreed it’s probably best for the players and everybody to separate,” Hinch added.
Cora, a native of Puerto Rico, is the older brother of former Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who was fired earlier this season. Both played in the major leagues for more than a decade as middle infielders.
Billy Boyer, a first-year member of Hinch’s staff, will move from his position handling “quality control” to third base coach for the remainder of this season, the club said before a game against the Athletics.

Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) is one of the Top 10 Extreme Value Stocks To Buy Now. On June 22, TD Cowen lowered the firm's price target on Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) from $230 to $197 and kept a Buy rating on the stock. The downward price target revision still reflects a 24% upside from current levels. After a May hospital survey showed that revenue remained largely flat compared to the previous year, the firm lowered its growth expectations for 2026 and 2027. According to the survey, weaker surgical procedure volumes were partly offset by growth in other medical services.
The healthcare industry is well positioned to benefit from the AI tailwind. By using artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, lower labor costs, and better manage complex reimbursement processes, hospitals may strengthen their competitive position and profitability over time, according to UBS. While health insurers are expected to benefit from these efficiency improvements, the firm believes hospitals could be the biggest beneficiaries.
Moreover, large hospital operators such as HCA Healthcare, Tenet Healthcare, and Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) have already begun deploying AI in areas such as billing and reimbursement management, staffing, and clinical documentation. The firm believes these companies could maintain an advantage over many nonprofit hospitals for several years.
Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) provides hospital and healthcare services through more its acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, outpatient centers, and ambulatory care access points across the US, Puerto Rico, and the UK.
While we acknowledge the potential of UHS as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Everything came together for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Still feeling the scars of falling five wins shy of going back-to-back, the two-time MVP winner enjoyed a nice pick-me-up a little over a month after as we're amid the hottest part of the summer.
Canada picked up a relaxing 110-84 win over Puerto Rico in the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifier. Gilgeous-Alexander parachuted in and scored an easy 26 points in front of his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. To make things even more special, the court was designed with his logo on the baselines.
Most of Canada's top NBA players sat this out. But Gilgeous-Alexander had every incentive to suit up. With the 2027 FIBA World Cup and 2028 Olympics right around the corner, the program hopes to build off its most successful stint of international hoops thanks to his ascension as an all-time great.
Gilgeous-Alexander also had the chance to play alongside cousin Nickeil Alexander-Walker. That hasn't happened since their high school days. The former went to the more prestigious Kentucky before becoming a one-and-done lottery pick. Meanwhile, the latter had to play multiple years at Virginia Tech.
Even though both are success stories on their own, their paths have taken completely different roads. Gilgeous-Alexander has turned into one of the NBA's best players this era. He led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Larry O'Brien trophy. His accolade list is as long as a CVS receipt.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander surprises NBA fans with a new look.
The 2025-26 NBA season ended in heartbreak for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder as they failed to defend their NBA Championship.
Since then, Gilgeous-Alexander has kept a relatively low profile, but fans finally saw what the OKC star had been up to during Canada's FIBA World Cup qualifier game against Puerto Rico.
Being one of the top players in the NBA, everything that SGA does impacts his fans, including his hairstyle. For years, the Thunder star kept his signature braids and cornrows.
However, during the Canada vs. Puerto Rico game, Gilgeous-Alexander walked onto the court without them, and it wreaked havoc among fans.

Investors seeking energy exposure often choose between high-growth infrastructure plays and stable midstream giants. Choosing between New Fortress Energy LLC (NASDAQ:NFE) and ONEOK Inc (NYSE:OKE) requires balancing aggressive expansion against steady cash generation.
New Fortress focuses on liquefied natural gas logistics and power plants in emerging markets, while ONEOK manages a massive pipeline network across the United States. While both play vital roles in energy transport, their financial health and risk profiles diverged significantly heading into 2026.
New Fortress Energy operates as a global energy infrastructure company specializing in liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and power plants. It manages logistics and power solutions in markets including Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Key customers include CFE and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), and such customer concentration adds a layer of risk to the business.
In FY 2025, revenue reached approximately $1.5 billion, representing a decrease of more than 36% compared to the prior year. The company reported a net loss of nearly $1.8 billion for the period. This performance reflects a challenging period of transition and ******* et restructuring for the energy provider. Free cash flow was negative $1.49 billion, representing the cash remaining after paying for operations and capital equipment.
ONEOK operates an extensive midstream energy network consisting of approximately 60,000 miles of pipelines for natural gas and refined products. The company gathers and transports energy for a diverse group of producers and industrial customers, including several electric utility stocks. Its business model relies heavily on long-term, fee-based contracts that reduce direct exposure to fluctuating commodity prices.

Basketball transactions have always lived in their own universe, but every now and then, the NBA produces a move so bizarre it rivals even baseball’s strangest deals. This time, a former Texas A&M standout is at the center of it despite the fact that he hasn’t played a single NBA game and isn’t even playing basketball in the United States.
During Night 1 of the NBA Draft, the New York Knicks made a move of their own, acquiring the draft rights to former Texas A&M center Chinemelu Elonu from the Los Angeles Lakers. If the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, there’s a reason. Elonu was drafted in 2009, nearly two decades ago.
Elonu entered the draft after a breakout junior season in College Station, averaging 10 points and 8.3 rebounds while earning First‑Team All‑Big 12 honors. The Lakers selected him with the 59th pick in the second round, a range where making an NBA roster is an uphill climb.
Instead of sticking stateside, Elonu signed with CAI Zaragoza in Spain, launching an international career that’s still going strong. Over the years, he’s collected championships across multiple leagues, led Puerto Rico’s BSN in blocks three times, and captured the 2022 rebounding ***** le. His résumé is proof that the NBA isn’t the only path to a long, successful, and lucrative basketball career.
Yet even while playing across the world, the NBA still finds a way to keep a hand in everything. Elonu may never suit up for the Knicks or any NBA team, but his draft rights continue to move like a stock on the global basketball market, reminding everyone just how strange and far‑reaching NBA transactions can be.

As Lewis Crocker realised a lifetime dream by winning the IBF welterweight ***** le at Windsor Park in his native Belfast last September, predictably, the questions as to what is next quickly followed.
Marquee names such as Conor Benn and Devin Haney were rumoured for a lucrative first defence, while a domestic rematch with Conah Walker was also touted, but instead of home comforts, the 29-year-old finds himself in Brisbane, Australia to face mandatory contender and local favourite Liam Paro on Wednesday.
With Paddy Donovan - whom Crocker had edged in their rematch to claim the ***** le last year to improve to 22 wins from as many contests - withdrawing from a final eliminator against Paro [27-1] in January, the former IBF light-welterweight champion was elevated to mandatory challenger.
Australian promoter No Limit would win the purse bid, edging out Crocker's promoter Matchroom by $27,000 (£20,000), handing Paro the opportunity to win a world ***** le in his native Queensland.
Roles are somewhat reversed this time, as Paro won his first world ***** le in the 10st division by upsetting the odds in June 2024 against Puerto Rico's Subriel Matias in enemy territory, before returning to the island to be out-pointed by USA's Richardson Hitchens six months later.

Intuitive + unpredictable = WBA interim flyweight champion.
In Grand Rapids, Michigan, Albuquerque’s Abraham Perez, facing down the toughest opponent of his career on Sunday in front of an international audience on DAZN, defeated former world champion Jonathan Gonzalez by split decision.

The Journal, scoring off the DAZN streaming, had it 116-112 for Perez.
Perez improved his still-spotless record to 15-0 with seven knockouts. Gonzalez, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, is 29-5-1.
