Following an ACL injury sustained by TE Princeton Fant during training camp on Monday, the Dallas Cowboys have claimed former 2023 7th-round pick Zack Kuntz, who was recently let go by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kuntz, drafted by the New York Jets out of Old Dominion, has spent three seasons in the NFL. He was on the Jets' practice squad in 2023 and 2024, and signed a future contract with the Miami Dolphins in 2026, but was released in early May. He then joined the Raiders on July 31, only to be released a few days later. To date, Kuntz has not recorded a catch in the regular season, but here's a scouting report of what he brings to the table as the coaches try to elicit better results than other teams have realized.

One of the most important tenets of building out a roster is to know the store you're shopping at. NFL clubs need to nail their draft picks, guess right on scheme fits in big-money free agency and trade the right amount of capital when swinging deals. One of the unsung parts of talent acquisition though is knowing which aisles to walk down when looking for those red dot specials.
Most folks wouldn't consider the Las Vegas Raiders a factory for talent. Grabbing cast offs from there is often a fruitless exercise, and that can be viewed with the recen release of DE Charles Snowden, who was suspended for thiree games to start the season before training camp began. The team has since released him. But the Raiders do have one area of their team worth paying attention to; the tight end position. On Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys grabbed a former member of that group to augment their own summer trials, claiming Zack Kuntz off of waivers.
Now make no mistake, Kuntz is an extreme long shot to latch on with Dallas. But the circumstances of moving Princeton Fant to IR after he tore his ACL, opened up a spot at the back end of the positional depth chart while the team works in Oxnard, CA.
And if a team is going to claim a released tight end, getting one from a team that employs one of the best TEs in football in Brock Bowers, plus former second-round pick Michael Mayer.
Kuntz isn't that, but replacing TE4 or TE5 on the depth chart with a player from a club that has a pretty good track record of picking the position makes a ton of sense.

Cowboys tight end Princeton Fant was carted off from Monday's practice after an apparent left knee injury.
Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports Fant was scheduled for an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
The Cowboys also have Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker at the position.
Fant took a knee-to-knee hit after being blocked backward into running back Israel Abanikanda during the Cowboys' first padded practice of training camp. He was unable to put weight on his left leg, requiring a cart to leave the field.
Fant signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2023. He has appeared in 11 games in three seasons, playing mostly on special teams.

The Dallas Cowboys have been dealing with their fair share of training camp injuries a week into their trek to Oxnard, CA. Fortunately things have generally landed on the temporary side for most of the affected. On Monday, they had to add another name to the list as tight end Princeton Fant was forced to leave practice.
On the first day of padded work, Fant had to be helped off and eventually he was escorted from the field on a cart. He was injured while blocking edge rusher Sam Williams, who pushed him back into the accelerating running back Israel Abanikanda.
Fant is battling to be a depth piece for the Cowboys at a position without much certainty behind starter Jake Ferguson and No. 2 Brevyn Spann-Ford. Neither of the sure things for the roster offer tremendous offensive potential, leading to a lot of opportunity for TE3 and practice squad depth.
That's where Fant has existed since being an undrafted free agent in 2023 out of Tennessee where he teamed up with current teammate, QB Joe Milton. Fant has spent three seasons on the practice squad, experiencing a couple game-day activations to help when injuries arose, but he's fought to maintain a place on the roster. There was one stretch, in the back half of the 2024 season, where he was fully promoted to the 53-man roster.
This year he's competing with the likes of UDFAs Michael Trigg (Baylor) and DJ Rogers (TCU).

Justin Grant won the night at Haubstadt's Tri-State Speedway, while Kyle ******* mins won the week.
Grant, a Californian, charged from the seventh starting position, passed Harley Burns for the race lead on Lap 18, then led the final 13 circuits to capture his third victory of USAC's nine-race 2026 Indiana Sprint Week series on Saturday night at Haubstadt, according to USAC.
Meanwhile, ******* mins, a Princeton native, finished the race third, but earned enough points to secure his first career USAC Indiana Sprint Week championship by a mere seven-point margin over Grant. ******* mins won last Thursday's Don Smith Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track, the seventh race in the ISW competition.
Cummins also won the Jim Hurtubise Classic in April at the Action Track.
Grant's victory was the fourth of his USAC National Sprint Car career at Tri-State's 1/4-mile dirt oval.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Hamilton County today announced that Princeton High School will host Archbishop Moeller High School in a season-opening game at Paycor Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 20.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Spectrum News 1. The stadium's West Gate and East Gate will be open to general admission at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased now at vikenation.org/tickets. Tickets are $12 plus processing fees. Parking will be available for $10 (credit card only) on the day of the event in surrounding lots and garages.

The Cincinnati Bengals get plenty of press surrounding their wide receiver room. With a bona fide superstar in Ja'Marr Chase and a WR1 talent like Tee Higgins playing opposite Chase, the Bengals boast a duo most teams in the league almost certainly envy.
For years, Tyler Boyd was the third receiver in the rotation during the beginning of the Joe Burrow era. Since he's moved on, Andrei Iosivas has been given the bulk of the opportunity to hold down the role of third wide receiver. After being a track star at Princeton, he has seen his fair share of snaps in the Bengals' offense.
While he hasn't reached the level that Boyd was, reports from early on in training camp say that Iosivas looks even faster as he heads into a contract year.
"He's playing with confidence, and he's playing fast. He looks really fast," offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher told Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson. "He's been fast, but he's playing really fast. Taking advantage of the opportunities that come his way. Even on plays he hasn't been targeted, he's had some really good releases where he separated from ***** p man."
For all the attention Higgins and Chase command, a breakout season from Iosivas, paired with a healthy Mike Gesicki, could make this potent offense even more dangerous.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson backed Michelle Obama's criticism of isolating students of color at elite colleges during Wednesday's episode of the former first lady's podcast, agreeing after Obama said schools failed those students when they spread them thinly across campus.
Jackson said Harvard's sizable Black community helped her feel at home. Jackson was an undergrad there and also received her law degree at Harvard; Obama also received her law degree there but was a Princeton undergraduate.
"You don't do kids of color service by plucking them out and making them one of a few and then scattering them about the campus," Obama said.
"I think that's absolutely right," Jackson said.

Real football is back for the Dallas Cowboys, who are set to take the field for the first time in training camp on Wednesday. Most of the roster is set, with a conservative number of around 35 players all but guaranteed to make the team.
That leaves almost 20 roster spots up for grabs. Anything can happen this summer in Oxnard, and odd things occur annually in training camp, so there are some veterans who might be surprise cuts for the Cowboys. Here are four players who could be shocking releases if they don't perform well in camp.
The offense doesn't have many depth issues, but tight end is a position where Dallas could be looking for more quality. The starter is Jake Ferguson, and the No. 2 option now appears to be Brevyn Spann-Ford, who has taken over for Luke Schoonmaker in the pecking order. While neither excelled as a receiver in the offense, Spann-Ford is a much better blocker.

Lukas Prock has found his future home.
The four-star quarterback from Princeton (N.J.) Hun School has committed to Indiana, giving Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers one of the nation's premier signal-callers in the 2028 class.
Prock, who ranks No. 68 in the 2028 Rivals Industry Ranking, chose Indiana over finalists Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State after a recruiting battle that accelerated throughout the summer.
Originally planning to wait until after his junior season, Prock ultimately decided there was no reason to delay once he became convinced Bloomington was the right fit.
"I kind of got serious about it the last month or so," Prock told Rivals. "I started to cut things down and lock in with a school so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I didn't want to rush it, and I don't think it's rushed at all."

Jesse Marsch has made it clear that he doesn't care about the haters. The American-born Princeton alum who both played and coached at the MLS level before taking over as Canada's frontman is unabashedly himself.
Even before the Round of 16 commenced in the 2026 World Cup on Saturday, Marsch had drawn ire for comments he'd made before and during this year's tournament. Plus, he had received criticism for his on-field theatrics, including his celebration after a 6-0 win over Qatar in group play and his "Canadian heroes" speech after the Round of 32.
The 52-year-old manager was under siege again in the wake of Canada's 3-0 defeat to Morocco — not because his squad was suddenly out of the World Cup but rather due to what he said following the loss.
Marsch insisted that Canada was "the better team" and said "I'd rather be us than them" in his pitchside post-match interview, a bewildering revelation considering Morocco emerged as the team advancing to the quarterfinals, where it will meet France.
The latter of those quotes arrived in response to a question Marsch fielded in the immediate aftermath of the match, an inquiry about what he hopes Canada can do to build on its head-turning run in this year's World Cup.

Tennessee offered Poole a scholarship on Feb. 21, 2025. He has visited the Vols three times, including an official visit on June 5.
UNLV was the first school to offer Poole a scholarship on Aug. 1, 2024. 2023 undrafted free agent Princeton Fant had been a part-time special team contributor for the Dallas Cowboys his first two seasons in the league. Appearing in 10 games total, including eight in 2024, his position became tenuous when the regime change happened. With John Fassel out, and Nick Sorensen in, Fant wasn't seen as an integral member to the special teams unit, appearing in just one game last season.
Yet once again, Fant is being presented with an opportunity to prove his worth. He's the fourth tight end on the depth chart of a team that normally carries three on the 53-man roster, and will have to fend off a new set of UDFA competition before securing any role with the organization.

Victor's Weekend has proven to be successful for the Wolverines prior to Wednesday, but a significant win on the recruiting trail occurred once again from another recruit that officially visited that weekend. This time, it's a top target from a certain state just to the south of Michigan.
2027 four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert — ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Ohio and No. 97 overall in the class — chose the Wolverines over Ohio State. The Buckeyes held the advantage going into his official visit in Ann Arbor, but the Wolverines did enough to swing momentum and land their first commit south of the state line under the new coaching staff.
Victor's Weekend proved to be the catalyst for Michigan to nab Torbert, who attends Princeton High, just north of downtown Cincinnati. Louisville was also heavily involved as a formidable dark horse thanks to NIL, but cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford and company pulled every stop necessary during his official visit and the weeks leading up to it to come out on top.
"Honestly, once the new staff came in, it picked up tremendously," Torbert previously told The Michigan Insider. "With the old staff, we were having conversations back and forth, but once the new staff came in, it gave off a vibe like this staff is different than the other staff. I was like, 'I'm gonna take a look at it.' Then once they offered me, I was like, it's a no-brainer. I gotta go see it."
Along with being one of the best players in Ohio, Torbert is also within the Top 100 nationally among all 2027 recruits and Top 10 for cornerbacks. Torbert is now the third Top 100 commit for Michigan, with wide receiver Quentin Burrell and offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey locked in heading into the middle half of the summer.

Florida basketball alum Xaivian Lee will have a chance to extend his career.
The point guard, who transferred in from Princeton last season, has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. An Exhibit 10 deal is a one-year, non-guaranteed, minimum-salary training camp deal.
The deal is used to invite undrafted free agents to training camp while allowing the NBA team to secure the player’s exclusive G League rights if they are waived.
Prior to the NBA Draft, Lee was one of 44 collegiate players to compete for G League Elite Camp. The three-day event featured participants taking part in five-on-five games as well as strength and agility drills.
Lee spent one year in Gainesville after transferring in from Princeton where played the first three seasons of his career.

As expected, the last round of Section 7's City of Mesa bracket featured a matchup between recent high school girls basketball national champions Etiwanda – the event's three-time reigning champion – and Ontario Christian.
Except it was for third place instead of first.
At the same time Ontario Christian rolled past Etiwanda 75-49 for the bronze, Section 7's top division concluded with one of the tournament's relative underdogs – Windward – defeating four-time reigning NorCal champion Archbishop Mitty 54-46 for the ****** le. Windward had unseated Etiwanda 69-65 in the previous round after starting with a 57-51 win over Nevada powerhouse Democracy Prep Agassi Campus and a 66-58 victory against Arizona champion Millennium. Mitty made it to the finals by beating Eagle (ID) 53-44, defeating Mater Dei 67-56, and notching a 56-48 win over Ontario Christian, which beat the Monarchs 56-49 in the CIF Open Division state finals in March.
The Wildcats are led by one of the nation's premier perimeter units: 5-star junior wing Amel Cook, 4-star senior guard Charis Rainey, Princeton-bound senior combo guard Angelina Habis, who helped Harvard-Westlake win a state crown as a freshman, and six-foot-one junior Alexie Wehrle, a versatile playmaking wing/forward. They're coming off an injury-riddled 18-14 season in which they uncharacteristically finished ranked outside California's top 25. That's because Cook missed the entire season and Habis missed more than half of it between the transfer sit-out period and an injury. But Windward's core is at full-strength now, and it made the most of an opportunity to show what it can do on a national stage when healthy. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The biggest event in global soccer has found its way to Kansas City, Missouri, the hometown of one of the biggest advocates for the sport in the United States.
The late soccer journalist Grant Wahl grew up in Mission, Kansas, a small suburb southwest of Kansas City. He would go on to become one of the highest regarded writers in any sport, spending 25 years at Sports Illustrated and elsewhere; his coverage is widely credited with growing the sport in the U.S.
Wahl moved to the East Coast after graduating from Princeton, but kept close ties to Kansas City, including a love for the Chiefs.
In 2022, Wahl died at age 49 in Qatar while covering the World Cup for his own website.
“The World Cup is something I never in a million years imagined would happen here,” Eric Wahl, Grant’s older brother, tells Front Office Sports. “And it sucks tremendously that Grant is not here to comment on it, to enjoy it.”
