On the heels of this year's Naismith Hall of Fame ceremony, Mychal Thompson is calling for a former LA Lakers player to be inducted next. Thompson, however, isn't making a case for himself.
Instead, the two-time NBA champion during the Lakers' "Showtime" era tweeted on Monday that a former teammate of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant deserves HOF honors.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dane Myers went back and forth on social media in a heated exchange with ex-Reds OF Tommy Pham over Myers' costly fly-ball drop in the ninth inning of a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

A Twitter/X account with more than 460,000 followers took a shot at the Cincinnati Bengals over the whole having-to-cross-the-street-to-get-to-practice thing, and many rushed in the replies to the Bengals' defense.

On Wednesday, news broke of the Denver Nuggets trading 3-and-D ******* et Peyton Watson in a five-team transaction. Among the many moving parts in this situation, Angel Reese's brother Julian was sent by the Washington Wizards to the Nuggets, who will reportedly waive the 23-year-old forward from his two-way contract.

The Oklahoma Sooners are a top-10 program heading into the 2026 college football season, according to the preseason AP poll released on Monday. The Sooners came in at No. 10, coming off a 10-3 season and a College Football Playoff berth in 2025.
However, not everyone is on board with the Sooners' top-10 ranking. On "SportsCenter," ESPN's Paul Finebaum said that Oklahoma doesn't belong that high.
"I don't know how people realistically think Oklahoma's going to finish in the top-10," Finebaum said. "You can say whatever you want about what they have in John Mateer... but, Matt, their schedule is beyond brutal."
Former Sooner great Gerald McCoy had an issue with that statement from Finebaum. He tweeted saying that Oklahoma is one of the best programs in the history of college football, and they don't shy away from anyone.

After the Indiana Fever defeated the Dallas Wings on Friday, Sophie Cunningham was seen at Clayton's Country Bar in Indianapolis. Clayton Anderson, the country music singer who happens to own the bar, spotted the Fever guard and asked her to sing alongside him. The news has been pointing this direction for a while now, but finally we get the most solid reporting yet that Manor Solmon is leaving Tottenham Hotspur. Fabrizio Romano (sigh) tweeted this afternoon that full agreement has been reached between Tottenham and West Ham, and Solomon will be heading across town to play football in the Championship next season. The deal is a permanent one.
I'll say again that £5m + £2m in add-ons is a fire-sale price for a player like Manor who has already proven that he can do well in the second division. In the clip, which the WNBA said was "intended to be lighthearted" in a statement released Thursday, Reese and Bueckers appear to be making a $400 bet on the outcome of their Atlanta Dream-Dallas Wings matchup this week.

So it’s not surprising the Hawks would bring back franchise legend Patrick Kane at 37 to re-create memories of the three-time Stanley Cup champions of the 2010s, pairing him with the next franchise savior — Connor Bedard — through the 2027-28 season.
Of course, any resemblance between those teams and the current edition of the Hawks is coincidental, and you don’t need AI to make a 37-year-old Kane look much different from his 19-year-old self.
Kane signed a two-year deal Thursday with an annual average of $8 million, which reminds us of his number, 88. It’s seen by many as overpaying for a player whose best years are in the past, but considering the marketing aspect for the Hawks, it’s probably worth every penny.

July 21 (Reuters) - A White House lawyer nominated by President Donald Trump to serve on a court that hears litigation regarding trade laws and tariff policies was confirmed to the bench on Tuesday after she apologized for past social media posts that attacked various senators including Republicans.
The Republican-led Senate voted 50-48 in favor of Kara Westercamp becoming a life-tenured judge on the U.S. Court of International Trade, with Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine joining with Democratic lawmakers to oppose her confirmation.
Two Republican senators did not vote, including Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who has been hospitalized and has not been present for votes. Westercamp has previously in Twitter posts referred to McConnell as "Cocaine Mitch" and accused him of betraying Trump.
The Senate moved ahead with votes on Westercamp while McConnell was out following the July 11 death of another of her social media targets, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, whom she called "weak-ass" and "disappointing." She had retweeted a post critical of Collins as well.

ESPN took the extremely ungracious step of informing NFL ******* yst Ryan Clark that he was being laid off while on the air. (At least it happened during a break.) Clark has opted to be far more gracious in his first public comment on the move.
"Sending prayers and love to all those laid off today by ESPN," Clark tweeted. "So many of you have poured your life into that company, & I know how you're feeling right now. My hope is as this door closes another opens for you all. God bless!"
It really was a ******* py, amateurish, Mickey Mouse move (which at to the last part technically is on brand). If, as has been reported, the goal was to prevent Clark from finding out about his fate from media reports, that's still better than telling him about it while he was ON THE AIR.
Think about what that does to every ESPN employee who is on the air today, and for the foreseeable future. Logic suggests they won't do it again. But logic goes out the window when the mind wanders about the possibility that what happened to Clark will happen to them.

On October 27, 2022, Elon Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. He walked into the building carrying a sink, tweeted "let that sink in," and became the owner of one of the most consequential, and expensive, platforms in media history.
Twitter, now rebranded as X, has had a turbulent run since. Fidelity marked its value down by as much as 79 percent at one point.
It has since recovered, with the platform broadly valued back around $44 billion following improved financials and returning advertisers. In other words, after two and a half years, Musk is roughly where he started.
So here is the question: what if he had split that $44 billion between Bitcoin and gold instead?
At $22 billion allocated to Bitcoin on the day the Twitter deal closed, Musk could have bought approximately 1.1 million BTC at the prevailing price of roughly $20,000 per coin. Bitcoin was deep in a bear market at the time, the FTX collapse was days away and sentiment could not have been worse.
